Already in the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Hall, important people from all parts of the Federation of Malaya had assembled, when Their Majesties entered in stately procession. The proclamation was read by the Prime Minister, Tuanku Abdul Rahman. Then, the Grand Chamberlain presented the golden Kris of State, symbol of power and authority, to the new ruler, the third Sovereign of the Federation, since it became independent.

The Yang di-Pertua Negeri (literally the "head of state" in Malay) is the official title of the ceremonial governors of the Malaysian states without monarchs (hereditary heads of state), namely Penang, Malacca, Sabah and Sarawak. They are appointed to renewable four-year terms by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (Paramount Ruler, King), the federal head of state of Malaysia on the advice of the Prime Minister after consulting the state governments.[1] A Yang di-Pertua Negeri is entitled to the style Tuan Yang Terutama (T.Y.T.), or in English, His Excellency.
A Yang di-Pertua Negeri functions as a head of state in a parliamentary democracy. His discretionary roles include appointing the head of government, the Ketua Menteri or Chief Minister (usually the leader of the major party in the state legislature), and withholding consent to dissolve the state legislature. On all other matters, he must act on the advice of the Chief Minister, such as appointing the members of the state's Executive Council (Cabinet in Sabah), conferring state honours and granting pardons for offences committed in his state (except pardons for court martial and syariah offences, which are granted by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong).
There are two major distinctions between the constitutional roles of the nine hereditary rulers and the four Yang di-Pertua Negeri. While the Yang di-Pertua Negeri are members of the Conference of Rulers, they cannot participate in the election of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, discussions related to the privileges of the Malay rulers and matters concerning the observance of Islam. In addition, the Yang di-Pertua Negeri do not function as the Head of Islam in their states; the role is fulfilled by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Before 1976, the heads of state of Penang, Malacca and Sarawak were titled Governor in English and Yang di-Pertua Negeri in Malay, whereas the head of state of Sabah was titled Yang di-Pertua Negara in both languages. Singapore had a Yang di-Pertuan Negara when it gained self-government under British sovereignty in 1959. The title was used by the state governor while Singapore was a part of Malaysia between 1963 and 1965, when it was expelled from Malaysia to become an independent republic. Since 1976 the heads of state of Penang, Malacca, Sabah and Sarawak have been titled Yang di-Pertua Negeri in both languages.

They're changing guard at the Royal Palace. The ceremony is much the same as in London, although it takes place at Istana Negara, the residence of the ruler of the Malay Federation. The Fifth Battalion, the Royal Malay Regiment are taking over guard duty from the 6th Battalion. They've been Palace Guards for two years, since Independence. Sungai Lembing, Pahang
Sungai Lembing is a tin mining town 42 km northwest of Kuantan in Pahang, Malaysia. Lembing is Malay for spear, and "sungai" means river. Per local legend, the local ruler saw a vision of a spear in the nearby river and thus named his town after this vision. Until the 1970s, Sungai Lembing was a major producer of underground tin. Sungai Lembing town developed in the 1880s when the British set up the tin mining industry, although the history of mining in this area extends much further back. From 1891, the Pahang Consolidated Company Limited, (PCCL), which was under British control, had a 77-year lease to mine the area. The Yang di-Pertua Negeri (literally the "head of state" in Malay) is the official title of the ceremonial governors of the Malaysian states without monarchs (hereditary heads of state), namely Penang, Malacca, Sabah and Sarawak. They are appointed to renewable four-year terms by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (Paramount Ruler, King), the federal head of state of Malaysia on the advice of the Prime Minister after consulting the state governments.[1] A Yang di-Pertua Negeri is entitled to the style Tuan Yang Terutama (T.Y.T.), or in English, His Excellency.
A Yang di-Pertua Negeri functions as a head of state in a parliamentary democracy. His discretionary roles include appointing the head of government, the Ketua Menteri or Chief Minister (usually the leader of the major party in the state legislature), and withholding consent to dissolve the state legislature. On all other matters, he must act on the advice of the Chief Minister, such as appointing the members of the state's Executive Council (Cabinet in Sabah), conferring state honours and granting pardons for offences committed in his state (except pardons for court martial and syariah offences, which are granted by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong).
There are two major distinctions between the constitutional roles of the nine hereditary rulers and the four Yang di-Pertua Negeri. While the Yang di-Pertua Negeri are members of the Conference of Rulers, they cannot participate in the election of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, discussions related to the privileges of the Malay rulers and matters concerning the observance of Islam. In addition, the Yang di-Pertua Negeri do not function as the Head of Islam in their states; the role is fulfilled by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Before 1976, the heads of state of Penang, Malacca and Sarawak were titled Governor in English and Yang di-Pertua Negeri in Malay, whereas the head of state of Sabah was titled Yang di-Pertua Negara in both languages. Singapore had a Yang di-Pertuan Negara when it gained self-government under British sovereignty in 1959. The title was used by the state governor while Singapore was a part of Malaysia between 1963 and 1965, when it was expelled from Malaysia to become an independent republic. Since 1976 the heads of state of Penang, Malacca, Sabah and Sarawak have been titled Yang di-Pertua Negeri in both languages.

STORYLINE
The future king of the oil-rich sultanate of Brunei married a 17-year-old half-Swiss commoner on Thursday in Asia's wedding of the year, attended by royalty and dignitaries from around the world.
Crown Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah Bolkiah, 30, son of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah - the absolute and fabulously wealthy ruler of 350-thousand subjects - wed Sarah Salleh before two-thousand people in a traditional Malay Muslim ceremony at Istana Nurul Iman, the 1,788-room main palace.
The sultan escorted the prince - wearing a gold crown and a kris dagger tucked into his sash - to a golden chair on the dais. He was joined by his bride, who emerged from a stateroom more than an hour behind schedule.
The prince placed a hand on Sarah's diamond tiara as Muslim marriage prayers were recited for the centuries-old ceremony. She stood radiant in an embroidered blue dress and veil and clasped a gold-and-diamond bouquet.
They then descended from the dais and kissed the sultan for his blessing.
The couple travelled in an open gold-coloured, Rolls-Royce stretch limousine on an eight-kilometre (five-mile) parade across the capital, accompanied by 103 limousines and vehicles carrying family members as a marching band played.
A tropical downpour sent thousands of people, many who had lined the streets since daybreak, scurrying for cover after catching a glimpse of the
motorcade.
Soldiers with submachine guns stood every 100 metres (yards).
Earlier, a 21-gun salute sounded as Japan's Crown Prince Naruhito and presidents Megawati Sukarnoputri of Indonesia and Gloria Macapagal Arroyo of the Philippines arrived and took their seats on gold-trimmed chairs in the cavernous, chandelier-lined main hall at the palace.
The crown prince enjoys billiards and was educated at Oxford. He will be the 30th sultan in a line stretching back 600 years.

Crown Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah Bolkiah, 30, son of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah - the absolute and fabulously wealthy ruler of 350-thousand subjects - wed Sarah Salleh before two-thousand people in a traditional Malay Muslim ceremony at Istana Nurul Iman, the 1,788-room main palace.
The sultan escorted the prince - wearing a gold crown and a kris dagger tucked into his sash - to a golden chair on the dais. He was joined by his bride, who emerged from a stateroom more than an hour behind schedule.
The prince placed a hand on Sarah's diamond tiara as Muslim marriage prayers were recited for the centuries-old ceremony. She stood radiant in an embroidered blue dress and veil and clasped a gold-and-diamond bouquet.
They then descended from the dais and kissed the sultan for his blessing.
The couple travelled in an open gold-coloured, Rolls-Royce stretch limousine on an eight-kilometre (five-mile) parade across the capital, accompanied by 103 limousines and vehicles carrying family members as a marching band played.
A tropical downpour sent thousands of people, many who had lined the streets since daybreak, scurrying for cover after catching a glimpse of the
motorcade.
Soldiers with submachine guns stood every 100 metres (yards).
Earlier, a 21-gun salute sounded as Japan's Crown Prince Naruhito and presidents Megawati Sukarnoputri of Indonesia and Gloria Macapagal Arroyo of the Philippines arrived and took their seats on gold-trimmed chairs in the cavernous, chandelier-lined main hall at the palace.
The crown prince enjoys billiards and was educated at Oxford. He will be the 30th sultan in a line stretching back 600 years.

Sungai Lembing is a tin mining town 42 km northwest of Kuantan in Pahang, Malaysia. Lembing is Malay for spear, and "sungai" means river. Per local legend, the local ruler saw a vision of a spear in the nearby river and thus named his town after this vision.
Until the 1970s, Sungai Lembing was a major producer of underground tin. Sungai Lembing town developed in the 1880s when the British set up the tin mining industry, although the history of mining in this area extends much further back. From 1891, the Pahang Consolidated Company Limited, (PCCL), which was under British control, had a 77-year lease to mine the area. PCCL managed the mine from 1906 until its liquidation in 1986 when world tin prices collapsed.
The pit mines were closed in 1986 due to high operational costs and low yields, but during their heyday they were among the largest and deepest in the world. The total tunnel length is 322 km, with a depth of between 610 m and 700 m. A museum highlighting the tin mining industry was opened in 2003. The museum is housed in an old bungalow once used by the mine manager. The museum houses a collection of mining artifacts.
Today the town of Sg Lembing is in decline although it was once the richest town in Pahang, known as El Dorado of the East. In the 1940s about 1400 people worked in the mine. Today many of the wooden shoplots are closed and people are moving away. The town straddles the river, and the main street on the right bank is split by an avenue of majestic trees. At the end, an old wooden building overlooks the padang where games of cricket and other social activities were held.

Nearby Sungai Lembing is Bukit Panorama, which is a popular place to watch the sunrise. 16 km from Sg. Lembing is Gunung Tapis Nature Park, where one can camp, fish, and shoot the rapids. Gunung Tapis itself is 1,512 m high. On the way to Sg. Lembing at the hamlet of Panching[1] is Gua Charas, a temple cave that is a popular tourist destination, also Sungai Pandan Waterfall, which is 29 km from Kuantan.
Since 2014, much of the rainforest surrounding the popular Rainbow Waterfall has been cleared to make way for a palm oil plantation.

(Tabari, Vol. III, pp. 235--239; Al-Bidayah wan-Nihayah, Vol. VII, pp. 122--125, and Mu'jam-ul-Buldan, under Bab-ul-Abwab: Derbent).
Two hundred years later, the Abbasid Caliph Al-Wathiq despatched a party of 50 men under Sallam-ul-Tarjuman to study the wall of Dhul-Qarnain, whose observations have been recorded in great detail by Yaqut al-Hamawi in Mu jam-ul-Buldan and by Ibn Kathir in Al-Bidayah. They write:
this expedition reached Samarrah from where they reached Tbilisi and then through As-Sarir and Al-Lan, they reached Filanshah, from where they entered the Caspian territory. With his seven hundred year spell on the sword So'unga failing, Saiya seeks out InuYasha, hoping he has the willpower to control the sword. Unfortunately, he was mistaken, as it tried to possess InuYasha, but he tried his best to resist being controlled and finally brings the sword back to the past, but in the process unleashes the deadly Dragon Twister on an evacuated village, a technique far more powerful than the Tetsuseiga's Backlash Wave or the Tenseiga's Dragon Strike. Sesshomaru is alerted to the return of So'unga and follows the scent to find that InuYasha is possessed by the sword. The two of them duel and at a crucial moment, Kagome, having returned with Saiya, saves the day and forces the So'unga to release InuYasha from its grasp. As InuYasha and Sesshomaru depart their respective companies to seek out So'unga, Myoga, Totosai and Saiya explain to everyone that in the aftermath of InuYusha's father's death two hundred years ago, they carried out his last commands for his three swords. While the Tetsuseiga and Tenseiga were taken care of, Saiya claimed that there were no instructions for how to dispose of So'unga. Unable to give it to InuYasha or Sesshomaru, Saiya decides to keep So'unga asleep for at least seven hundred years and had it thrown into the Bone Eater's Well, where it ended up in the possession of Kagome's family.

The coronation ceremony will be special, as the last time it was held was 55 years ago. This time the exclusive event will combine Islamic, Malay and Western culture and rituals based on previous coronation to preserve and enrich the Johor royal traditions.
The last coronation ceremony was held on February 10, 1960 when Almarhum Sultan Ismail Sultan Ibrahim ascended the Johor throne.
In conjunction with the coronation, commemorative stamps in denominations of 60 sen, 80 sen and RM1 and first day covers will be on sale at the post offices from March 23.
Commemorative gold medallions will also be available from Bank Negara from that date.
At least 30,000 people are expected to watch the live telecast of the coronation ceremony via selected television stations and on giant screens at Dataran Bandaraya Johor Bahru.

Through a holographic message in a capsule found by researchers, the GUTS gets knowledge about a golden pyramid built by an ancient civilization. At the site, three statues of a race of giants who defended early human civilization on Earth about 30,000,000 years ago. GUTS finds the three ancient statues, but two of them are destroyed by the monsters Golza and Melba. The third one gains life from the spiritual energy of officer Daigo, descendant of the ancient race. Daigo and the remaining statue merge into a single being, made of light. Shortly after defeating the two monsters, Daigo is revealed by the hologram of the prophecy that 30 million years in the past, a great evil that not even the giants could stop, destroyed the ancient civilization. Given the right conditions such as times of despair, the sparks will gather and the Tiga statue will be revitalized.

This seminar seeks to understand the role of Islam within the Bruneian state and society. The speaker will examine the historical role of Islam in Brunei, expound on the concept of Malay identity, Islam and monarchy (Melayu, Islam, Beraja) that has defined the Bruneian state. He will also draw a trajectory of the future role of Islam in Brunei.
About the Speaker
Amin Abdul Aziz is Adjunct Professor at the Institute of Policy Studies, University of Brunei Darussalam. He is holder of an Ijazah with an unbroken chain of transmission (sanad muttasil) to Prophet Muhammad. He also holds a Master in Islamic Studies graduating overall first and awarded the Abdullah ibn Abbas Award for Excellence in Shari'ah Sciences from the Graduate School of Islamic and Social Sciences, Virginia, USA.

About the Speaker
Amin Abdul Aziz is Adjunct Professor at the Institute of Policy Studies, University of Brunei Darussalam. He is holder of an Ijazah with an unbroken chain of transmission (sanad muttasil) to Prophet Muhammad. He also holds a Master in Islamic Studies graduating overall first and awarded the Abdullah ibn Abbas Award for Excellence in Shari'ah Sciences from the Graduate School of Islamic and Social Sciences, Virginia, USA.

A love affair between Thamarai (Kushboo) and her maternal uncle Nellaiyankondan (Jayaram) is badly received by their family, especially since he is not financially well off. Thamarai's father, King Periyamalaikozhundhu Gounder (Vijayakumar), arranges for her marriage to Mandhiyappan (Prakashraj), ruler of a neighbouring country. Thamarai rejects the arranged marriage, angering Mandhiyappan. She later marries her lover, who had come to see her marry Mandhiyappan, and challenges her brother Chinna Malaikozhundhu (Ponvannan) to marry his daughters off to her sons (the marriage of cousins is a gounder custom). Periyamalaikozhundhu disowns his daughter for choosing Nellaiyankondan and banishes them from his kingdom.
Many years later, Mayavar (Nasser), a chieftain of a village in Periyamalaikozhundhu's kingdom, encounters twin brothers Ponnar and Sankar (both played by Prashanth), who are being tutored in martial arts by Rakki Annan (Raj Kiran). Ponnar and Sankar are valorous and compassionate to the sufferings of the poor. One day, the twins save two sisters, Muthayi (Pooja Chopra) and Pavalayi (Dhivya Parameshwaran), from death. The girls are later revealed to be daughters of Chinna Malaikozhundhu. Impressed with Ponnar and Sankar's valour, Chinna Malaikozhundhu agrees to marry his daughters off to them.
A flashback reveals that Ponnar and Sankar are actually Thamarai's sons and that Rakki, who was then a servant of Nellaiyankondan, had saved the twins as small children from Mandhiyappan. Mandhiyappan had attempted to avenge himself on Thamarai for rejecting his hand in marriage. He learns that the twins are still alive and hatches a conspiracy to kill them. He tricks Kali Mannan (Napoleon) and Thamarai's father into helping him. This leads to an intense battle which ends with good prevailing over evil.
