On January 5, 1900, a disheveled looking H.G. Wells - George to his friends - arrives late to his own dinner party. He tells his guests of his travels in his time machine, the work about which his friends knew. They were also unbelieving, and skeptical of any practical use if it did indeed work. George knew that his machine was stationary in geographic position, but he did not account for changes in what happens over time to that location. He also learns that the machine is not impervious and he is not immune to those who do not understand him or the machine's purpose. George tells his friends that he did not find the Utopian society he so wished had developed. He mentions specifically a civilization several thousand years into the future which consists of the subterranean morlocks and the surface dwelling eloi, who on first glance lead a carefree life. Despite all these issues, love can still bloom over the spread of millennia.

(Tschuldigung!
Web.

After being thrown out of a bar for what is thought to be a trick, he tests his powers and eventually sends a policeman to Hades by accident. Worried, he sends the police officer to San Francisco, and seeks advice from the local clergyman, Mr Maydig. Maydig, after having Fotheringay's powers demonstrated to him, quickly planning for reform of the world by means of miracle, but eventually Fotheringay orders a miracle which, due to clumsy wording, backfires. Things to Come (1936) is a British science fiction film produced by Alexander Korda and directed by William Cameron Menzies. The film stars Raymond Massey, Ralph Richardson, Cedric Hardwicke, Pearl Argyle and Margaretta Scott. The cultural historian Christopher Frayling calls Things to Come "a landmark in cinematic design."
The dialogue and plot were devised by H. G. Wells as "a new story" meant to "display" the "social and political forces and possibilities" that he had outlined in 1933 in The Shape of Things to Come, a work he considered less a novel than a "discussion" in fictional form that presented itself as the notes of a 22nd-century diplomat. The film was also influenced by previous works, including his 1897 story "A Story of the Days to Come" and his 1931 work on society and economics, The Work, Wealth and Happiness of Mankind; speculating on the future had been a stock-in-trade for Wells ever since The Time Machine (1895).
Cast:
Raymond Massey as John Cabal/Oswald Cabal
Edward Chapman as Pippa Passworthy/Raymond Passworthy
Ralph Richardson as Rudolf a.k.a. The Boss
Margaretta Scott as Roxana Black/Rowena Cabal
Cedric Hardwicke as Theotocopulos
Maurice Braddell as Dr Edward Harding
Sophie Stewart as Mrs Cabal
Derrick De Marney as Richard Gordon
Ann Todd as Mary Gordon
Things to Come sets out a future history from 1940 to 2036. (In the screenplay, or "treatment"[3] that Wells published in 1935, before the film was released, the story ends in the year "A.D. 2054.".[4]) It is set in the fictional British city of 'Everytown'. Successful businessman John Cabal (Raymond Massey) cannot enjoy Christmas Day, 1940, with the ominous news of possible war. His guest Harding (Maurice Braddell) shares his worries, but over-optimistic friend Passworthy (Edward Chapman) believes it will not come to pass, or even if it does, it will do good by accelerating technological progress. A bombing raid on the city that night results in general mobilisation and global war.
Some time later, Cabal, now piloting a biplane, shoots down a one-man enemy bomber. He lands and pulls the badly injured enemy (John Clements) from the wreckage. As they dwell on the madness of war, they have to put on their gas masks, as poison gas drifts in their direction. When a little girl runs towards them, the wounded man insists she take his mask, saying he is done for anyway. Cabal takes the girl to his aeroplane, pausing to leave the doomed man a revolver. The man dwells on the irony that he may have gassed the child's family and yet he has saved her. He then shoots himself.
The war continues for decades, long enough for the survivors to have forgotten why they are fighting in the first place. Humanity enters a new Dark Age. The world is in ruins and there is little technology left apart from the firearms used to wage war. In 1966, a plague called the "wandering sickness" is spread by the unnamed enemy using its last few remaining aircraft. Dr. Harding and his daughter Mary struggle to find a cure, but with little equipment, it is hopeless.
By 1970, a local warlord called the "Chief" or the "Boss" (Ralph Richardson) has risen to power in the south of England and eradicated the sickness by shooting the infected. He dreams of conquering the "hill people" to obtain coal and shale to render into oil so his biplanes can fly again.
On May Day 1970, a futuristic aeroplane lands outside the town. The sole pilot, John Cabal, emerges and proclaims that the last surviving band of "engineers and mechanics" have formed a civilisation called "Wings Over the World". They are based in Basra, Iraq, and have renounced war and outlawed independent nations. The Boss takes the pilot prisoner and forces him to work for Gordon, a mechanic working on repairing the few remaining aeroplanes. Together, they manage to fix a plane. When Gordon takes it up for a test flight, he flees to alert Cabal's friends.
Wings Over the World attacks Everytown with gigantic aeroplanes and drops sleeping gas bombs on the town. The Boss orders his biplanes to attack but they are shot down. The people of Everytown awaken shortly thereafter, to find it occupied by the Airmen and the Boss dead.

You may think that this picturesque location is a town but it’s not a town, it's a city and that’s because it has a cathedral. In fact it’s the smallest city in the UK.
Wells Cathedral is actually relatively new, it was built in 2009. The architect, Mrs Maureen Tucker gave the finished building it’s “aged” look by dabbing the brick work with tea bags.
Many have accused Well’s residents of being xenophobic and intolerant of other cultures which is why it may surprise you that Wells was the first place in the UK to regular produce curry. The first one they brought out in England was the vegetable bhuna, other dishes followed in subsequent years.
No visit to Wells would be complete without a visit to Bakwell Manor, the former home of the late Mr Kipling. Guest to the manor house often report seeing the ghost of the famous baker who, in life, was exceedingly good at making cakes.

Lake Louise - City Video Guide
Lake Louise is just 200 km from Banff and Banff National Park. While most creatures are hibernating in the winter, Lake Louise is just coming to life. Frozen waterfalls, alpine woodlands, and plenty of chances to play on the snow all make Lake Louise an ideal place to visit during winter time.
Lake Louise tourism opportunities are a dream come true for snow lovers. The Lake Louis ski area has a whopping 42 acres of mountain terrain and well over 100 marked trails. Snowboarders are also welcome to make their way down the mountain. What better way to do some Lake Louise sightseeing than on the back of a dogsled? Dogsledding is a true adventure, taking you through forest trails.
Once you’ve had your fill of the slopes, slow things down with an ice skating excursion or snowshoe across the frozen lake. Enjoy Lake Louise tours in a horse drawn carriage, where you can soak up the chilled air and have a magical winter experience. While you have your choice of accommodations, none quite compare to the Fairmont Chateau, which sits right on the shore of the lake and is exquisitely outfitted.

No Amsterdam tour is complete without exploring some of its 165 canals and 1,000 bridges – hopefully you like water. Don’t worry; you don’t need a boat or even a motor vehicle to get around. The heart of this ancient city is best seen on foot or from the seat of a bicycle. This city is rich in history; when you set out to explore “The Venice of the North,” you’ll find buildings dating back to the 13th century, as well as Dam Square and its royal palace.
If you’ve got an appreciation for fine art, your Amsterdam sightseeing should pause at the Rijksmuseum, where you can find the works of Rembrandt and other Dutch masters. Up for a pint? Stop by the old Heineken Brewery and learn about the lager brewing process. If you’re really feeling daring, grab a coffee in De Wallen, better known as one of the world’s oldest red light districts. You won’t get into trouble with your partner if you head there these days; it’s now home to cafes and adult stores.

Travel video about destination Ireland.
Ireland is one of Europe’s most green and mysterious islands and everyone who visits this isolated island in the Atlantic Ocean is given a very warm welcome. Dublin is the capital of the Irish Republic and it is a city of musicians, poets and dreamers, as well as being a financial centre. Its many old buildings indicate its long and dramatic past. It was founded by the Vikings within a wonderful valley where the River Liffey flows into the Atlantic Ocean. After the Vikings, the Normans conquered the city and ruled over it for seven hundred years and under King Henry The Eighth Dublin became the capital of what was then a British colony. South west of Dublin is Kildare, the heart of Ireland’s horse racing. In 1902 the Irish national stud, Tully House, was founded there. Rich and eccentric Scottish brewery heir, Colonel William Hall-Walker, had the idea of a creating unique horse breeding scheme that would be based upon astrological calculation. The Wicklow Mountains are a natural paradise of mountains, swamps and lakes, beautiful valleys and a fascinating mountain landscape to the south of Dublin. Jerpoint Abbey near Thomastown dates back to the twelfth century and is one of the most beautiful Cistercian ruins in Ireland. It was founded in around 1160 by Donal Mac Gillapatrick, the King Of Ossory. The Cistercians built the monastery in characteristic style and one of the stone sarcophaguses is said to contain the bones of Holy Nicolas who was buried there by the Crusaders. Although much of it has remained unspoiled, Ireland has undergone much change. It is a land of great natural beauty, healthy commercial success and excellent hospitality: a wild green island set in the wild Atlantic Ocean!

Travel video about destination Tunisia.
Tunis is a North African city with a long history. After the Hasfides and Osmans, the Spanish Moors came but then had to give way to French colonial rule until present day Independence. In the old town, there are more than 700 historic monuments which include 200 palaces, a colourful variety of buildings and numerous mosques.Among shoreline lava rock is the entrance to the Ghar El-Kebir, a collection of sandstone grottos. During Roman times, thousands of slaves were forced to bring building material for Carthage and El Djem from subterranean shafts. In Sousse, the simple fort of Ribat is probably the oldest Islamic building in North Africa, in which Muslim soldiers lived in monastery-like isolation and in the town’s Archaeological Museum there is a fantastic range of mosaics, predominantly from Punic and Roman excavations. Gabes is an oasis town which overflows with luxuriant floral splendour. By horse and carriage visitors can travel through one of the most beautiful maritime oases in Tunisia where, under 500,000 date palms, tobacco, henna, pumpkins, apricots and bananas thrive. The focal point of important caravan routes and trading centre for goods from Libya and Black Africa, Medenine is a very charming and lively city. Its reinforced honeycomb-shaped caves were the extraordinary-looking buildings that many will recall from the film ‘Star Wars’. The Sahara is the largest desert on earth, with different landscapes such as rock deserts, salt deserts and serene oases. Kebili is located on the edge of a huge salt lake and is a typical desert village with a green oasis and Artesian springs which provide water for its fruit and vegetable gardens. Nefta is also a green paradise in the desert, an oasis town that boasts no less than 152 Artesian wells. Dougga contains Tunisia’s most important ruins which nestle in the hills among shimmering olive trees and poppy fields. Endless deserts and fertile oases, busy towns and isolated mountain regions, Roman temples and Muslim mosques: Tunisia is tempting!

Travel video about destination Ireland.
Ireland is one of Europe’s most green and mysterious islands and everyone who visits this isolated island in the Atlantic Ocean is given a very warm welcome.Dublin is the capital of the Irish Republic and it is a city of musicians, poets and dreamers, as well as being a financial centre. Its many old buildings indicate its long and dramatic past. It was founded by the Vikings within a wonderful valley where the River Liffey flows into the Atlantic Ocean. Jerpoint Abbey near Thomastown dates back to the twelfth century. It is one of the most beautiful Cistercian ruins in Ireland.

Vacation travel video about destination Koper in Istria.
Koper is a major harbour city in Istria which is located on the Slovenian Riviera. The old town can be entered through the last of the twelve gates of the city’s former defensive wall. A stone coat of arms, various reliefs and inscriptions highlight the long history of the city in which for five hundred years Venetian rule shaped its destiny. An archway in the Praetorian Palace leads to a classic Venetian square, the Titov Trg which dates back to the fifteenth century. The Piazza is one of the most beautiful Venetian squares of the entire Adriatic region and the cathedral which frames the square has numerous architectural styles. Brollo, an area just beyond the centre of the city, served as a collecting basin for rainwater which was drawn by two wells from a cistern below. The Gothic, Fontico, was used for the storage of surplus grain which was distributed to the people in years of hardship. Today Koper is Slovenia’s window to the world and the country’s only seaport.

Meine Lieben,

When you imagine the Canadian Rockies, Banff National Park is likely the image that comes to mind. While a beautiful location for hiking and relaxation during the summer, this 2,500 square mile alpine mountain sanctuary comes alive during the winter.
Snowy forests, glacier-carved lakes, and icefields set the scene in this, Canada’s first national park. Your Banff National Park tour begins in Banff itself, a resort town with a casual atmosphere, loaded with bars and restaurants, and continues into the park’s vast outdoor space, which is often utilized for winter activities. Whether you’re an experienced skier or are new to the sport, you’ll find thousands of acres of slopes to carve up. Take lessons in town or at one of the resorts dotting the mountains, or, if you’re not sure about skiing, try snowshoeing and hiking through the pristine wilderness. Embark on the Johnston Canyon Ice Walk for one of the most astonishing views of nature you’ll ever see…or book a sleigh ride or dog sledding ride for an adventure straight out of a storybook.
Ready to really appreciate some natural beauty? Your Banff National Park sightseeing will lead you to the Banff Gondola and let it take you to the summit for a view of Bow Valley and the surrounding Rocky Mountains. We promise you’ve never seen anything like it.
What will you do at Banff National Park?

G. Wells Emberek a holdban című művén.

Mr. Britling Sees It Through
H. G. WELLS (1866 - 1946)
"Mr. Britling Sees It Through" is H. G. Wells' attempt to make sense of World War I. It begins with a lighthearted account of an American visiting England for the first time, but the outbreak of war changes everything. Day by day and month by month, Wells chronicles the unfolding events and public reaction as witnessed by the inhabitants of one house in rural Essex. Each of the characters tries in a different way to keep their bearings in a world suddenly changed beyond recognition. This book was published in 1916 while the war was still in progress, so no clear resolution was possible. Wells did not know how long the war would last or which side would ultimately win, but he hoped that somehow, something good might eventually come of it. - Summary by Peter Eastman

Herbert George Wells
A ésta le siguieron Ann Verónica (1909), The History of Mr. Polly (1910) y Matrimonio (1912).
