Thanksgiving in America comes with a lot of traditions. One of the longest running ones is the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade that's been happening annually since 1924. Last year we talked about the history of the Superman parade balloon, but this year I want to talk about the awesome and bizarre comic book themed parade floats from both Marvel and DC Comics from the 80s! Now the man hailed by graphic icons from Neil Gaiman to Alan Moore is back with a brand new graphic novel, five years in the making! "The Sculptor" reworks the classic tale of an artist willing to do anything to succeed, including making a deal with Death. Lynne Thomas, author of "Chicks Dig Comics," joins McCloud on the CHF stage to discuss life in and outside of comics.

1924 (MCMXXIV) was a leap year starting on Tuesday (dominical letter FE) of the Gregorian calendar and a leap year starting on Monday (dominical letter GF) of the Julian calendar, the 1924th year of the Common Era (CE) and Anno Domini (AD) designations, the 924th year of the 2nd millennium, the 24th year of the 20th century, and the 5th year of the 1920s decade. Note that the Julian day for 1924 is 13 calendar days difference, which continued to be used from 1582 until the complete conversion of the Gregorian calendar was entirely done in 1929.

Scott McCloud
Scott McCloud (born Scott McLeod on June 10, 1960) is an American cartoonist and comics theorist. He is best known for his non-fiction books about comics, Understanding Comics (1993), Reinventing Comics (2000), and Making Comics (2006).
Early life
McCloud was born in 1960 in Boston, Massachusetts, and spent most of his childhood in Lexington, Massachusetts. He decided he wanted to be a comics artist in 1975, during his junior year in high school.
Syracuse University's Illustration program was closest to his career goals. He selected that school and major, and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1982.
Career
Artist and theorist
McCloud created the light-hearted science fiction/superhero comic book series Zot! in 1984, in part as a reaction to the increasingly grim direction that superhero comics were taking in the 1980s.
His other print comics include Destroy!! (a deliberately over-the-top, over-sized single-issue comic book, intended as a parody of formulaic superhero fights), the graphic novel The New Adventures of Abraham Lincoln (done with a mixture of computer-generated and manually drawn digital images), 12 issues writing DC Comics' Superman Adventures, the three-issue limited series Superman: Strength, and his 2015 graphic novel The Sculptor.
