Hey Youtube, so back on our Easter vacation trip to Oak Island we decided to take our kayaks over to Fort Fisher and buy a season pass for $50.00 rather that buying a $12.00 daily pass to the Fort Fisher driving beach access area. We thought we would be going back several times with in then next year, that is my intention anyway. This trip was more or less just to familiarize and explore the area at Fort Fisher where you have beach driving access to surf fish or play. Also, you can take advantage of the areas that have "Crossovers" to take your kayaks and fish in the bay parts. Like the well known "Buzzards Bay" or the rock jettie wall along the Cape Fear River. Both, which has been made pretty famous for the Red Drum action you can have there if you can find the schools of drum lurking in the bay. But, there are also flounder, trout, sheepshead and several other species of fish to be caught their as well.

Hey all, here is a great addition to my other video I uploaded about a week ago; Exploring Fort Fisher Kayak Crossovers and Beach: Spring 2015 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7e5D1JOysY. I had the privilege of being able to fish at the beautiful Fort Fisher with Steve Sherron of Adventure Outdoors. We had a BLAST!! We did not do so much catching as we did fishing, but had a ball and we both learned more about the area and we both want to go back and explore the fishing opportunities more in the near future. I tried to explain how we fished the area and what we were using.

Had a great time kayak fishing recently with Thomas Farlow of Southern Outdoors NC. We explored the waters of Fort Fisher, NC near Bald Head Island, NC. We were on the hunt for flounder, redfish & trout.

Fort Fisher was a Confederate fort during the American Civil War. It protected the vital trading routes of the port at Wilmington, North Carolina, from 1861 until its capture by the Union in 1865. The fort was located on one of Cape Fear River's two outlets to the Atlantic Ocean on what was then known as Federal Point and today is known as Pleasure Island. Because of the roughness of the seas there, it was known as the Southern Gibraltar.
The city of Wilmington is located 29 miles (50 km) upstream from the mouth of the Cape Fear River, which flows into the Atlantic Ocean.
During the war, Wilmington was one of the most important points of entry for supplies for the Confederacy. Its port traded cotton and tobacco in exchange for foreign goods, like munitions, clothing and foodstuffs. This nourished both the southern states in general and General Robert E. Lee's forces at Virginia. Trade was based on the coming and going of steamer ships of British smugglers. These vessels were called "blockade runners" because they had to avoid the Union's imposed maritime barricade. Mostly, the blockade runners came indirectly from British colonies, such as Bermuda, Bahamas or Nova Scotia. Often, they were forced to fly the Confederate insignia since the Union had imposed the death penalty on British "pirates" captured in the region.

Also, you can take advantage of the areas that have "Crossovers" to take your kayaks and fish in the bay parts. Like the well known "Buzzards Bay" or the rock jettie wall along the Cape Fear River. Both, which has been made pretty famous for the Red Drum action you can have there if you can find the schools of drum lurking in the bay. But, there are also flounder, trout, sheepshead and several other species of fish to be caught their as well.

Hey all, here is a great addition to my other video I uploaded about a week ago; Exploring Fort Fisher Kayak Crossovers and Beach: Spring 2015 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7e5D1JOysY. I had the privilege of being able to fish at the beautiful Fort Fisher with Steve Sherron of Adventure Outdoors. We had a BLAST!! We did not do so much catching as we did fishing, but had a ball and we both learned more about the area and we both want to go back and explore the fishing opportunities more in the near future. I tried to explain how we fished the area and what we were using.

January 18, 2014 - Active duty and retired soldiers volunteer their time as re-enactors to teach living history at the anniversary commemoration of the battle of Fort Fisher, the South’s last open sea port at the end of the Civil war. An edited GoPro video of our week in Saint Lucia from February of 2015. We spent time hiking, snorkeling, kayaking, wakeboarding, paddleboarding, boating, exploring, a helicopter ride and much more! We stayed at the Sandals Grande St. Lucian located at Gros Islet on the north end of the island.
The first excursion we did was with Joe Knows Tours, called the Land & Sea Tour. This was a lot of fun and at the same time it allowed us to take in a lot of activities in a single day. We cruised in a speedboat to the south end of the island near the Pitons where we visited the Sulphur Springs for a mud bath. Next, we swam in a waterfall and had lunch with a view of the Pitons in the background. After getting back on the boat, we went to a nearby beach/bay area for snorkeling. These tour guides are all about having fun and entertaining the guests to make sure they have a good time!
The second day trip we took was with Paradise Excursions, which led us to the top of Gros Piton, (elevation ~2,500 ft) with amazing views! John Nestor was an excellent tour guide; he was very knowledgeable and proud of the island. After spending the day with him and completing the challenging hike, he took us to one of his personal favorite restaurants in Soufrière. It was a small vegan eatery called Jah Lamb's where we had an amazing meal!
The helicopter ride when we left the resort was booked with Island Routes, through Sandals. The resort was about a 90-minute drive from the airport when we arrived, so checking out the helicopter was a must, after hearing several people talking about the great views it provided.
