Elizabeth Ann Bloomer Warren Ford (April 8, 1918 – July 8, 2011), better known as Betty Ford, was First Lady of the United States from 1974 to 1977 during the presidency of her husband Gerald Ford. As First Lady, she was active in social policy and created precedents as a politically active presidential wife.
Throughout her husband's term in office, she maintained high approval ratings despite opposition from some conservative Republicans who objected to her more moderate and liberal positions on social issues. Ford was noted for raising breast cancer awareness following her 1974 mastectomy and was a passionate supporter of, and activist for, the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). Pro-choice on abortion and a leader in the Women's Movement, she gained fame as one of the most candid first ladies in history, commenting on every hot-button issue of the time, including feminism, equal pay, the ERA, sex, drugs, abortion, and gun control. She also raised awareness of addiction when she announced her long-running battle with alcoholism in the 1970s.
Before you tell me to go, I've got to let you know
How you're makin' my temperature rise
I let you use me, you tried to abuse me, you tell me you're not very nice
I'm not your social security, I'm not your star opportunity, yeah
Oh baby, you can have me absolutely, won't you give me
True confessions, true confessions, true confessions
That's all I'm askin' for, yeah
I do things to make you crazy inside
And baby that's one thing you know you can't hide
You ask me why, what's your confession
Well baby, the truth is, you're in my possession tonight
True confessions, true confessions, true confessions
That's all I'm askin' for, yeah
I'm not your social security, I'm not your star opportunity, yeah
Oh baby, you can have me absolutely, won't you give me
See it was one of them days (yeah)
Like wakin' up in the stormy weather in your mind thinkin'
Ooohh, this could be so much better (I'm tellin' y'all)
I'll never forget her
Black leather down for whatever
My nigga's sweatin' me
So we sittin' in this club
Where the ladies rub-a-dub
They solicitin' their love
Me and my man about as tight as you can get it
So he admitted that he wanted to hit it
I said now wait a minute, I can contest
To bein' 'bout as open-minded as it gets
When it comes to sex
'Cause I believe in time and space and what a waste
If you can't really have your time and space
So what was the use?
But to swallow my pride to love and let loose of this feelin' inside
Said if you want it that bad then you should have it
And then he smiled and said I want you to grab it
True confessions of a broken heart
I learned my lesson now I'm torn apart
Everybody's got a story
About how they lost their one and only
True confessions of a broken heart
I learned my lesson now I'm torn apart
Everybody's got a story
About how they lost their one and only
I'm on the hunt to get my nigga what he wants
From back to front of the club
She's tryin' to pull a stunt
Even though they got the lights down low
I can see the whole dance floor
She must have slipped out the back door
Rather than goin' back empty handed
I know this ain't the way he planned it
I do as if commanded
Hmm let's see who next be the finest
Who next be the best for sex
And messin' with his Highness
So I took another look and guess who's back
I'm off the hook
It's the lady in black
Excuse me Miss, see that man sittin' at the table
He wants to know
If you're ready willin' and able
So she followed me and obviously
My man is gonna want a little privacy but I was wrong
He turned it up another notch
Asked if she went tongue to crotch
And said he wants to watch
True confessions of a broken heart
I learned my lesson now I'm torn apart
Everybody's got a story
About how they lost their one and only
True confessions of a broken heart
I learned my lesson now I'm torn apart
Everybody's got a story
About how they lost their one and only
So now I'm thinkin' what have I done and gotten' into?
Maybe this will be strong and maybe monumental
As I look in her eyes what is she gonna say?
Never thought I'd be in dismay when I woke up today
She said her thing ain't girls we in three different worlds
So he mentioned instead that he wanted some head
She obliged no menage then fled
We were straight for 'bout a month
Until pure lust were the topics we discussed
Though I didn't mind he wants it all the time
More women and all I've been in
Spreadin' venom and still wanna be mine
So I told him one day can't do it any more
He reacts so relaxed
Said he's done with them for sure
Then I caught him one weekend
Cheatin' and creepin' duct's leakin' don't speak
I'll be leavin'
True confessions of a broken heart
I learned my lesson now I'm torn apart
Everybody's got a story
About how they lost their one and only
True confessions of a broken heart
I learned my lesson now I'm torn apart
Everybody's got a story
Verse one...
B: bless me father, for i have sinned. it's been 3
years since my last confession. i've disobeyed my
mother, 3 time..5 times. i've fought with my brothers 6
times..
F: anything else?
B: yes father, i've stolen things...
F: what did you steal?
B: i stole stereos, radios and amplifiers and..
F: how old are you?
B: i'm seventeen.
F: Seventeen? and you've been stealing for 3 years...
[sigh]
verse two...
B: needed money father.
F: you stole the stereos?
B: yes father.
F: radios?
B: yes, father.
F: amplifiers?
B: yes father.
F: stole the money?
B: yes father.
F: the last three years?
B: yes father. i committed 32 burglaries. one was at a
church father.
F: that's a terrible thing, to steal from so many, to
steal from the church, that's god's house. is there any
way you can give some of this money, from the stereos,
I'm not the one in search of friction
I'm not the one to look for fights
When it gets down to me and you
I think it over twice
We sing the same song
With it all subject to change
There is another place in time, girl
You and I will meet again
I saw the signs I never knew
Didn't have enough on you to follow through
Call it innocent or guilty
Inside you, it's still me
(CHORUS)
Oooh, whose word you gonna take
Whose heart you gonna break
Not mine
If I believe your true confessions
I'm never gonna make it
You know you hurt me for the very last time
I need you darlin', and it tears me apart
And if someone comes between us
It's the death of my heart
I think about you and I paint a picture
You wanna love above the law
And you got a taste for adventure
It's what you're livin' for
We say the same lies
Anyone to crucify
We're the victims of the same sensations
I can be as bad as youI step aside, you can understand
I won't stand in the way but I will if I can
Not to be your judge and jury
It's still you inside me
(CHORUS)
My gun is loaded and I'm ready for war
I come and get you and I kick down the door
There's no way, I can't let you leave
I'm not working for the enemy
(CHORUS/FADE)
It's a jungle out there
Used to be a garden
But the times got rough
And now all those innocent hears have hardened
You've got cain and abel
You've got jack and jill
They're out looking for love
On a saturday night in a coup de ville
But love got twisted
And the streets got mean
Now everybody's got their secret
As the night comes down like a guillotine
True confessions
In a twisted world
Its just you and me baby
In the danger zone
We're out looking for permanent love
In the middle of a city full of broken homes
Where all the boys want to use you
And all the girls want to cry
And nothing works like it used to
And you can't remember your lines
I heard about a housewife sleeping in the wrong bed
Head a rumour that elvis has risen from the dead
I've seen a lot of lovers been programmed to lose
I tried to tell you
But the words always came out wrong
You never knew it
But I loved you all along
Are we two worlds in collision?
Maybe it's time for you to listen to my
True confessions
My love, I'm givin' you
My true confessions
Show love when you hear my true confessions
Never meant to hurt you
I was lonely and she was so kind
One stolen moment
That I can't get off my mind
Let's end this silent suspicion
Baby, it's time for you to listen to my
True confessions
My love, I'm givin' you
My true confessions
Show love when you hear my true confessions
No more hiding the rage
Gotta let it out of this cage
So won't you show me you care?
See it was one of them days (yeah)
Like wakin' up in the stormy weather in your mind thinkin'
Ooohh, this could be so much better (I'm tellin' y'all)
I'll never forget her

True confessions

True confessions
True confessions
True confessions
True confessions
I never doubted a single word
I put my trust in your hands
And in the wake of a fatal vow
I thought that love was the plan
But see how the tables have turned
And nothing is sacred
The lesson is there to be learned
By tearing the mask from your face
Now it's time for true confessions
I wanna know what you want from me
For true confessions
I need to know why you show no sympathy
The satisfaction you take in this
Is growing ever more clear
If truth be known in this bitter dawn
It's like you never were here
The struggle for my self-respect
Has never been harder
And if I have any regrets
It's knowing you wasted my life
If we're to be logical
I should be strong and walk right out that door
It's so hypocritical
'cos deep inside I want you all the more
Reality cuts like a knife
The fantasy's over
And here I am, paying the price
For all of your dark indiscretions
If you want love, come and get it
Well, that's alright with me
And if you think that's tough, forget it
'Cause there's no guarantee
(No gaurantee)
Well, the dreams won't last forever
And that's how it should be
I'm only living for your pleasure
Your real life fantasy
(Real life fantasy)
True confessions can reveal

False impressions disappear

True confessions, you come back
(True confessions you come back)
(True confessions, true confessions)
These obsessions of your mind

Of your mind
If I lead you to the water
Oh, will you take a drink?
Emotions that you torture
Make you stop and think
(Make you stop and think)

Don't look so surprised
You've been telling me lies
True, true, true confessions
It's hard to wake up to your makeup
So let's take off that disguise
True, true, true confessions
Let's sit down and sort this out
It's not so hard to talk about
True, true, true confessions
I got a picture from your sister
There was writing on the back
I'm not the one in search of friction
I'm not the one to look for fights
When it gets down to me and you
I think it over twice
We sing the same song
With it all subject to change
There is another place in time, girl

I lied
True, true confessions
I lied
Spent all night with Candy's eyes
Dragged myself 'cross the warm blind side
Spent all night with Candy's eyes
Dragged myself 'cross the warm blind side
True, true confessions
She cried
True, true confessions
She cried
Stand in the doorway in a jealous rage
Drag myself 'cross her wild terrain
Stand in the doorway in a jealous rage
Drag myself 'cross her wild terrain
We're never sorry
We're never sad
We're modern lovers
What fun we had
True, true confessions
We tried
True, true confessions
We tried
Naked, exposed like fine rock and roll
Perfect as strangers, imperfect as love
Naked, exposed like fine rock and roll
Perfect as strangers, imperfect as love
We're never sorry
We're never sad
We're modern lovers
I must have made some impression
To scare you away
Here's a little true confession
I didn't know what to say
Now I'm gonna call your number
I'm ready to explain
True confessions on an answering machine
Thirty seconds to tell you what I mean
It must have been some kind of party
The way I feel today
I was working on getting my nerve up
I guess I got carried away
Now I've got something to tell you
You might want to hear
True confessions on your answering machine
A therapeutic session if you know just
What I mean
I really wish I'd worked my words out
Before I dialed the phone
It's nice to have a chance to do that
Before they're etched in stone
At any rate a true confession
Is waiting for the tone
True confessions
Here comes a heart attack
Thirty seconds
