The West Bank (Arabic: الضفة الغربية aḍ-Ḍaffah l-Ġarbiyyah, Hebrew: הגדה המערבית, HaGadah HaMa'aravit also known as Hebrew: יהודה והשומרון Yehuda ve-Ha'Shomron (Judea and Samaria)) of the Jordan River is the landlocked geographical eastern part of the Palestinian territories located in Western Asia. To the west, north, and south, the West Bank shares borders with the state of Israel. To the east, across the Jordan River, lies the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The West Bank also contains a significant coastline along the western bank of the Dead Sea. Since 1967, most of the West Bank has been under Israeli military occupation and is referred to as Judea and Samaria Area by Israel. A smaller part of the West Bank is administered by the Israeli civilian authorities as part of Jerusalem District.

The Israeli president says Tel Aviv has the right to continue building settlements across the occupied West Bank. Reuven Rivlin once again emphasized that the land of Israel includes the settlements in the Occupied West Bank. Israeli soldiers have shot dead a Palestinian man near Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.
Israeli forces say the Palestinian man allegedly stabbed and lightly wounded a 26-year-old Israeli settler at a gas station on a highway linking Jerusalem al-Quds to Ramallah. Israeli soldiers are now searching the area for more suspects as they claim the Palestinian man was not alone when he stabbed the Israeli settler. The Israeli man has been taken to the hospital.

When you think of traveling to Israel visiting religious sites in Jerusalem or basing yourself in Tel Aviv may initially come to mind. However, when exploring Israel it is paramount to set aside enough time to get off the beaten path and explore more of the country. Fortunately, for us, we were able to make two separate trips to Israel experiencing as much food, culture, historical and modern attractions as we possibly could.
The following is a list of things to do in Israel with a focus on the top attractions in this travel guide:
1) Regardless of whether you can swim (or not swim) well you will most certainly float when visiting the Dead Sea. Covering yourself in gooey mud and joining others floating is one of the top attractions in Israel.
2) No trip to Israel would be complete without sampling the local cuisine and especially the street food. With this in mind we walked all the way from our hotel room in Tel Aviv to Jaffa - an ancient city renowned for its amazing hummus and other street food. Aside from just hummus we were able to try Shaksouka, cheese stuffed pastries, malabi and kanafeh.
3) Having the opportunity to take a tour of the West Bank (or Palestine) is an eye opening experience. Media coverage, from the perspective of the west, often depicts this area as being quite unruly and poor; however, a tour there really dispels a lot of myths. We had the opportunity to eat falafel, walking around the streets and get a real sense of what life is like in this region. Some highlights included visiting Sheppard's Field, the Jordan River and oldest city in the world - Jericho. To end our trip we drank beer at the West Bank Palestinian brewery.
4) Getting off the beaten track a little we visited Rosh Hanikra. Known as the window to the Mediterranean we were treated to breathtaking views and an amazing sunset.
5) Aside from just eating our way around Jaffa, we took the time to properly explore it on foot. One of the top highlights was visiting a traditional flea market,
6) Taking the cable car up to visit Masada was a welcome relief considering how hot it was on the day we visited. As we wandered about we visited an old water cistern and Byzantine church. From our vantage point we had amazingly unobstructed views of the Dead Sea.
7) Caesarea! The ruins of the ancient city once given from Agus Caesar to Harrod the Great was an experience we'll never forget. Walking around in the Hippodrome allowed me to visualize what the old chariot races must have been like.
8) One of my favorite meals in Israel was prepared by a Druze family. This amazing feast, in the form of a buffet, featured kebabs, olives, chicken and stuffed cabbage just to name a few.
9) Wondering wear to rest your sleepy head while traveling in Israel? Look no further than the Fauzi Azar Inn in Nazareth. This converted Arab Mansion offers a charming stay. Best of all is that free cake and coffee is available throughout the day and the buffet breakfast is amazing.
10) One of the more frontier attractions was visiting Golan Heights and the Sea of Galilee. We toured around the Banias Reserve and Mount Bental.
11) Considering how tasty the food is in Israel it would be a shame to leave without knowing how to recreate these delectable delights back home in your own kitchen. Fortunately, for us, we were able to take a cooking class at Dan Gourmet in Tel Aviv. We learned how to make Lahmacun and charred eggplant amongst other dishes.
12) Have you ever wondered how olive oil is made? Visiting an olive press answered our all of our questions and made us appreciate the craft of making this high quality cooking oil. For the best vantage point of Nazareth we headed to Mount Precipice for panoramic 360 degree views. Finally, we visited Haifa to check out the famous Bahá'í gardens.

It weighs as much as all the cathedrals in Europe put together and spans an area of 53,000 square metres - the height of a fifty storey skyscraper. In the middle of today’s modern city of Luxor, known as the ‘Capital City Of The Pharaohs’, the Luxor Temple stretches along the eastern banks of the Nile and, not far away, the temple complex of Karnak and the Amun Temple. 67 kilometres from Luxor, on the western bank of the Nile, lies the Temple Of Dendera, the most important place of worship for the love goddess, HATHOR, whose heavenly appearance was portrayed by the body of a cow. At Aswan, the landscape of the Nile is enchanting, but it is the stone temples of Abu Simbel that take one back to ancient Egypt, land of the Pharaohs, and archaeological paradise.

The kids will love a trip to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, hold the koalas and hand feed the kangaroos.
To end your day, there are some great restaurants in South Bank and along the river at Eagle Street Pier. West End and New Farm also have some great cafes and restaurants.
If you'd like to carry on your night at one of the many bars or clubs head to Fortitude Valley.

Travel video about destination Kenya.
Founded by Alexander The Great in 332 B.C., the city of Alexandria is located in the Nile Delta and it was here that Caesar and Mark Anthony fell under Cleopatra’s spell.Cairo is Africa’s largest city and the heart of the Arab world, extreme poverty living next to opulent wealth, and modern, Western boutiques next to ancient souks. The Cairo Museum is home to the most extensive collection of Egyptian antiquities, including the golden mask and tomb of Tutankamun. Towering above almost any other human achievement are the impressive three pyramids of Gisa. The Cheops Pyramid, the world’s largest single construction, took four hundred thousand workers twenty years to build.

Kolkata known historically in English as Calcutta /kælˈkʌtə/, is the capital of the Indian state of West Bengal. Located on the east bank of the Hooghly river, it is the principal commercial, cultural, and educational centre of East India, while the Port of Kolkata is India's oldest operating port as well as its sole major riverine port. As of 2011, the city had 4.5 million residents; the urban agglomeration, which comprises the city and its suburbs, was home to approximately 14.1 million, making it the third-most populous metropolitan area in India. As of 2008, its economic output as measured by gross domestic product ranked third among South Asian cities, behind Mumbai and Delhi.[6] As a growing metropolitan city in a developing country, Kolkata confronts substantial urban pollution, traffic congestion, poverty, overpopulation, and other logistic and socioeconomic problems.
In the late 17th century, the three villages that predated Kolkata were ruled by the Nawab of Bengal under Mughal suzerainty. After the Nawab granted the East India Company a trading license in 1690,[7] the area was developed by the Company into an increasingly fortified mercantile base. Nawab Siraj ud-Daulah occupied Kolkata in 1756, and the East India Company retook it in the following year and by 1772 assumed full sovereignty. Under East India Company and later under the British Raj, Kolkata served as the capital of India until 1911, when its perceived geographical disadvantages, combined with growing nationalism in Bengal, led to a shift of the capital to New Delhi. The city was the centre of the Indian independence movement; it remains a hotbed of contemporary state politics. Following Indian independence in 1947, Kolkata—which was once the centre of modern Indian education, science, culture, and politics—witnessed several decades of relative economic stagnation. Since the early 2000s, an economic rejuvenation has led to accelerated growth.
As a nucleus of the 19th- and early 20th-century Bengal Renaissance and a religiously and ethnically diverse centre of culture in Bengal and India, Kolkata has established local traditions in drama, art, film, theatre, and literature that have gained wide audiences. Many people from Kolkata—among them several Nobel laureates—have contributed to the arts, the sciences, and other areas, while Kolkata culture features idiosyncrasies that include distinctively close-knit neighbourhoods (paras) and freestyle intellectual exchanges (adda). West Bengal's share of the Bengali film industry is based in the city, which also hosts venerable cultural institutions of national importance, such as the Academy of Fine Arts, the Victoria Memorial, the Asiatic Society, the Indian Museum, and the National Library of India. Though home to major cricketing venues and franchises, Kolkata differs from other Indian cities by giving importance to association football and other sports.
Culture Kolkata
==============
Kolkata is known for its literary, artistic, and revolutionary heritage; as the former capital of India, it was the birthplace of modern Indian literary and artistic thought. Kolkata has been called the "City of Furious, Creative Energy" as well as the "cultural [or literary] capital of India". The presence of paras, which are neighbourhoods that possess a strong sense of community, is characteristic of Kolkata. Typically, each para has its own community club and, on occasion, a playing field. Residents engage in addas, or leisurely chats, that often take the form of freestyle intellectual conversation. The city has a tradition of political graffiti depicting everything from outrageous slander to witty banter and limericks, caricatures, and propaganda.
Kolkata has many buildings adorned with Indo-Islamic and Indo-Saracenic architectural motifs. Several well-maintained major buildings from the colonial period have been declared "heritage structures"; however, others are in various stages of decay.Established in 1814 as the nation's oldest museum, the Indian Museum houses large collections that showcase Indian natural history and Indian art. Marble Palace is a classic example of a European mansion that was built in the city. The Victoria Memorial, a place of interest in Kolkata, has a museum documenting the city's history. The National Library of India is the leading public library in the country.

BBC News August 9 2015 West Bank tension Palestinians start night patrols
Israel’s security forces conducted raids on several West Bank homes on Sunday morning. At least nine people were detained. The authorities said the arrests were linked to an ongoing investigation into a terror attack on a Palestinian house, which left a toddler and his father dead.
The Israeli police added that a unit that handles nationalistic crimes made the arrests, but full details of those detained can’t be released as a gagging order has been implemented.
The far-right legal organization, Honenu, said that separate raids had taken place in the Kohav Hashahar settlement and the Vivat Habaladim outpost, with a further seven people arrested. The settlements are not far from Duma, where the firebombing took place on July 31.
The raids come after Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon is expected to approve additional measures to hold ultra-Orthodox Jews believed to be behind the deadly attacks against the Palestinian family. Holding suspects without trial or “administrative detention” as it is known, was previously exclusively used against Palestinian terror suspects, but it is now set to be used against Jewish terror groups, to curtail their activities, the Times of Israel cited an official as saying.
Israeli security forces are bracing themselves for further tensions in the West Bank after Saad Dawabsha, the father of the 18 month-old Ali Dawabsha who was killed in the July 31 terror attack, died of his injuries on Saturday.
Hundreds of mourners took to the streets of Duma during Saad’s funeral, which happened on Saturday. Palestinians also burned tires on a road leading into the village, while some threw rocks at IDF soldiers.

Settlers, Olives, and Occupation: Voices from the West Bank
In response to last year's Gaza conflict, the Israeli government announced the construction of further settlements in the West Bank — a move condemned by the international community for escalating tensions that were already highly fraught.
The expansion of the settlements has consumed privately owned Palestinian land, causing the destruction of Palestinian homes, produce, and livelihoods. Despite Israeli settlements taking up only one percent of land in the West Bank, they now exert control over 42 percent, with settlement boundaries often 10 times larger than the settlements themselves.
VICE News traveled to the West Bank to speak to displaced Palestinians and activists who are trying desperately to address the grievances that boiled over with such horrific consequences in 2014.

Unholy War | 60 Minutes | Inside Jewish Settlements On The West Bank
Unholy War: Inside the Jewish settlements on the West Bank.
It began with the kidnap and murder of three Israeli teenagers by Palestinian extremists.
Then came the retribution killing of a fifteen year old Palestinian boy by Israeli extremists.
Now this most brutal of conflicts has again spiralled into dreadful bloodshed.
And once again, it's the vast mass of ordinary people who are trapped between the fanatics in their midst.
60 Minutes reporter Allison Langdon takes you inside the Jewish settlements on the West Bank, and to the war raging on the Gaza Strip, as Hamas and the Israeli Defence Force try to blast each other away.

Things to do in Israel | Top Attractions Travel Guide
Things to do in Israel | Top Attractions Travel Guide
This is part of our Travel in Israel series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Israeli culture, Israeli arts, Israeli foods, Israeli religion and Israeli people.

Travel video about destination Egypt.
Egypt is a land of monumental temples, gigantic pyramids, the River Nile and the mysterious Sphinx: 5000 years of history.Founded by Alexander The Great in 332 B.C., the city of Alexandria is located in the Nile Delta and it was here that Caesar and Mark Anthony fell under Cleopatra’s spell. Cairo is Africa’s largest city and the heart of the Arab world, extreme poverty living next to opulent wealth, and modern, Western boutiques next to ancient souks.

Things to do in Brisbane: City Travel Guide
For a relaxing city break, Brisbane is the perfect place to visit. Start your trip with a trip to the top of the clock tower for city views to get your bearings.
South Bank Parklands is a great place to take the family, start with the wheel of Brisbane for great views of the river, take the kids to the playground and then go for a dip at the manmade beach.
Art lovers should head to the Gallery of Modern Art and the Queensland Art Gallery located not far from South Bank.
Visit the highest peak in Brisbane for stunning views of the city at Mt Coot-tha and take a stroll along the walking trails. If you don't fancy walking to the top, browse the botanic gardens and parklands at the base.

Israel /ˈɪzreɪəl/ or /ˈɪzriːəl/, officially the State of Israel (Hebrew: מְדִינַת יִשְׂרָאֵל, Medīnat Yisrā'el, IPA: [mediˈnat jisʁaˈʔel] ( listen); Arabic: دولة إِسرائيل, Dawlat Isrāʼīl, IPA: [dawlat ʔisraːˈʔiːl]), is a country in Western Asia, situated at the southeastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea. It shares land borders with Lebanon to the north, Syria in the northeast, Jordan on the east, the Palestinian territories comprising the West Bank and Gaza Strip[10] on the east and southwest, respectively, and Egypt and the Gulf of Aqaba in the Red Sea to the south. It contains geographically diverse features within its relatively small area.[11][12] Israel's financial center is Tel Aviv,[13] while Jerusalem is both its designated capital and the most populous individual city under the country's governmental administration. Israeli sovereignty over Jerusalem is internationally disputed.

On June 17, 2015, the Western Direct Insurance team got together to plant trees in Sue Higgins Park as part of Calgary’s Green Initiatives project. We had an awesome time!
We’re proud to announce that we planted a total of 447 trees and we had a great time giving back to the environment and our community! Sue Higgins Park lies along the west bank of the Bow River and flows through the southeast corner of the city. The park consists of an island, river banks, flood plain and inland marshes. What better place to plant trees than at Sue Higgins Park?
