The Samaritans (Hebrew: שומרונים Shomronim, Arabic: السامريون as-Sāmariyyūn) are an ethnoreligious group of the Levant. Religiously the Samaritans are adherents of Samaritanism, an Abrahamic religion closely related to Judaism. Based on the Samaritan Torah, Samaritans claim their worship is the true religion of the ancient Israelites prior to the Babylonian Exile, preserved by those who remained in the Land of Israel, as opposed to Judaism, which they assert is a related but altered and amended religion brought back by those returning from exile.
Ancestrally, Samaritans claim descent from a group of Israelite inhabitants from the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh (the two sons of Joseph) as well as some descendants from the priestly tribe of Levi, who have connections to ancient Samaria from the period of their entry into the land of Canaan, while some suggest that it was from the beginning of the Babylonian Exile up to the Samaritan Kingdom of Baba Rabba. The Samaritans, however, derive their name not from this geographical designation, but rather from the Hebrew term Shamerim שַמֶרִים, "Keepers [of the Law]".

Plot
Chuck is a killer who picks up innocent hitchhikers and murders them, leaving their bodies on the side of the highway like road kill. Rayne is a hitchhiking serial killer, who slaughters those that pick her up. When these two meet up, sparks fly, worlds collide...people die. Their initial encounter leaves Chuck with a serious limp and Rayne nearly unconscious. She is almost run over by Rebecca, a young girl on a cross-country trek to get back home. Believing Rayne to have been in an accident, Rebecca offers to help. Rayne accepts the ride, but refuses the help before passing out in Rebecca's car. Meanwhile, infuriated that she's stealing his thunder, Chuck begins pursuing Rayne, unaware that Rebecca has taken her in. At first too weak to act out her homicidal tendencies, Rayne becomes Rebecca's fellow traveler, and learns the reasons for her journey. Rayne finds herself torn between wanting to add Rebecca to her death list and becoming her mentor. Hot on her trail, Chuck unleashes a path of destruction, killing anyone who gets in his way and one ill-fated victim who had the unfortunate luck of resembling Rayne. Frustrated by her feelings for Rebecca, Rayne takes it out on a few hapless victims of her own, all the while keeping her true nature a secret from her road partner. When Rebecca offers to take Rayne home and begin a new life together, Rayne finds herself tempted. They say dead men tell no tales, but unfortunately one of Rayne's victims does. A news report about a recent murder shows a picture of the deceased, and Rebecca recognizes the man as someone who had antagonized them earlier. Faced with the truth and unable to handle it, Rebecca leaves but is kidnapped by Chuck, who has finally caught up to them. Chuck calls Rayne and using Rebecca as bait, challenges her to a showdown to determine just whom the road belongs to. The battle that ensues is one for the ages, a blood fest that will leave all three of them changed forever.

Don't get mad. Get promoted.
Kris Bolin: He'd take off his shorts and I'd take off my bikini and we'd fuck underwater in front of the entire senior class on shore. They just thought that we were two lovers embracing. We could do that now. In front of Roger, Sara... and no one would know.
Charlene Towne: [gasping] The picture! The picture!
Peter Derns: Where'd she get the picture?::Rosemary: It came with the frame. She bought a set-five for $9.99 from Thrifty's.
[last lines]::Peter Derns: Kris. These are the pictures that Charlene was talking about just before she fell and died. I didn't call her that night and tell her that there was an emergency at the bakery. You did... on my behalf. You were going to kill her and pin the murder on me because you knew she was on to you, wasn't she? She knew you didn't go to Stanford. She knew you lied about having a family. And you knew that you weren't going to rise any higher here as long as Charlene was around.::Kris Bolin: I was going to tell you about the picture. I always keep one on my desk... to fend away office hounds. Lots of girl do. Or they wear wedding rings.::Peter Derns: You always have an answer for everything.::Kris Bolin: Come again?::Peter Derns: I said you always have an answer! Why don't you save them for someone else?::Kris Bolin: Peter... we're not gonna go through this again, are we?::Peter Derns: No, Kris. We're not. As president of this company, it's time I start delegating some authority.::[into the intercom]::Peter Derns: Rosemary? Call the police and have security make sure Miss Bolin doesn't leave the building.::[to Kris]::Peter Derns: Oh... and one more thing, Kris. Clean out your desk. You're fired.
Carla Hulin: [to her children before leaving their windowless bathroom where they took shelter during the hurricane] Some of our things are probably broken, but whatever they are, we can fix them. [she opens the door and sees that their house is destroyed]
Just a man... imperfect... vulnerable
why can't my words be seen for what they are
an expression of my ongoing struggle
I am not your culture
I am not your shelter
I am not your addiction
I am not your solution
running with my head down
the blood fills my mouth - the sting fills my eyes
dying to avoid the sight of the endless struggle
to find an end to this passion play of which we're all a part
the depths we'll fall to, for the love of
don? t want to carry it anymore - the weight on my shoulders
your hands around my neck
not seen as an attempt to dig deeper with myself
