Huling (1804–1865), who began planning a town to be laid out on this land. This town was named Beaumont, after Jefferson Beaumont the brother in law of Henry Millard.

Plot
Lost is a short film from Boomarang Entertainment in which a guy (Beaumont) returning to Los Angeles from touring Europe struggles to reconnect to his home life. Frustrated with the various situations that happen throughout the day he begins to psychotically lash out against them before he violently finally snaps. This film is basically about how much can go wrong in a person's life all at once. It starts out with his luggage being lost, and then ultimately ends up with every good thing in his life being lost as well. The film itself is interspersed with quick edits of what he's actually thinking rather than what he's saying, which gives an interesting insight into the character. The film itself is just a short, but manages to tell the story quite well. While there are a few amusing aspects to the film, it's mostly a serious story and leaves you really kind of feeling for the guy whose life has just spiraled out of control through no fault of his own.

Do you get it?::Mitchel: Don't ask again.

Chubunka is the self-made head of the rackets in the sleazy boardwalk community of Neptune City, a low-rent version of Coney Island. He has become infatuated with a sultry nightclub chanteuse and lavishes her with gifts and attention, spending money on her that might better go to maintaining his hold on his operation. HE'S GOT THE TOWN BY THE THROAT!
TOLD WITH BULLET FORCE BY THE PRODUCERS OF "DILLINGER" (original ad - all caps)
Shubunka: [Opening lines of first person narration as the camera dollies back from an ugly expressionistic painting] That was what I was. I work the rackets... dirty rackets... ugly rackets. I was no hypocrite. I knew everything I did was low and rotten. I knew what people thought of me. What difference did it make? What did I care? [Lying in bed looking at his face in a mirror] I got scarred - sure! It can hurt a little when you fight your way out of a gutter.
Shubunka: [to Dorothy] You understood nothing. You're sweet, lovely, and good. You're also very young. Pay for my sins? You know what my sins were? I'll tell you. That I wasn't rotten enough. I wasn't mean and low and dirty enough. That's right, I should have smahed Cornell first. I should have hounded Jammy, kept after him, killed him myself. I should have trusted no one, never had a friend. I should have never loved a womann. That's the way the world is. Wait, live, find out yourself that's the way you have to be... the only way!
Shorty: Your wife called. What should I tell her?::Nick Jammey: Tell her I dropped dead.
Dorothy's Father: Give him time, Dorothy. It just came over the radio. They might still be on the streets looking for him. THey'll shoot him!::Dorothy: I hope they do! I hope they kill him!::Dorothy's Father: [Shocked] Dorothy!::Dorothy: No, let him pay for his sins! You don't know him... the way he lives... the things he did. He's rotten! He's no-good!
Nick Jammey: My advice to you is 'get out!' They'll jump you when you least expect it. Get out of town, Shubunka. They're killers!::Shubunka: Jammey, what did you do? What are you talking about? Did you sell me out?::Nick Jammey: Who me?::Shubunka: Did you go over to them?::Nick Jammey: I wish I did! I wish I could! The trouble with me is I've got a conscience!
I know you're the instigation that's haunted me for so long
I swear i'll never forget that
My blood is running through your veins
I know you're the infestation that's poisoned me for so long
I swear i'll never forget that
My blood is running through your veins
Reasons have lost their meaning now
Cause i'm addicted to everything
This is the end of the reasons that lost their meaning now
Cause i'm addicted to everything
This is the end of it all
Reasons that lost their meaning now
Cause i'm addicted to everything
Addicted to everything
This is the end
The end of you
This is the end
This is the end
This is the end of the reasons that lost their meaning now
Cause i'm addicted to everything
I saw you leanin' on a memory
With your back turned to the crowd
In that little bar on Murphy
Where they play guitar too loud
There were people drinkin' whiskey
There were hearts about to leave
It was cold as hell for Houston
It was almost New Years Eve
All the way from Beaumont
With a white rose in my hand
I could not wait forever babe, I hope you understand
The night was feelin' lucky
So I asked you to dance
And the way you looked up at me
Made me think I had a chance
But when I put my arms around you
I knew you weren't givin' in
I hope it will be different if I pass this way again
All the way from Beaumont With a white rose in my hand
I could not wait
forever babe, I hope you understand
I walked the road to get here
With a guitar and a case
I'd of stopped in Pasadena
If I'd known about this place
But you looked like forever
Where the water meets the shore
I've been thinkin about you, baby
I can't do that anymore
I saw you leanin' on a memory
With your back turned to the crowd
In that little bar on Murphy
Where they play guitar too loud
There were people drinkin' whiskey
There were hearts about to leave
It was cold as hell for Houston
It was almost New Years Eve
All the way from Beaumont
