Samothrace (also Samothraki) (Greek: Σαμοθράκη, [samoˈθraci]) is a Greek island in the northern Aegean Sea. It is a municipality within the Evros regional unit of Thrace. The island is 17 km (11 mi) long and is 178 km2 (69 sq mi) in size and has a population of 2,723 (2001 census). Its main industries are fishing and tourism. Resources on the island includes granite and basalt. Samothrace is one of the most rugged Greek islands, with Mt. Fengari rising to 1,611 m.
Samothrace was not a state of any political significance in ancient Greece, since it has no natural harbour and most of the island is too mountainous for cultivation: Mount Fengari (literally 'Moon Mt') rises to 1,611 m (5,285 ft). It was, however, the home of the Sanctuary of the Great Gods, site of important Hellenic and pre-Hellenic religious ceremonies. Among those who visited this shrine to be initiated into the island cult were King Lysander of Sparta, Philip II of Macedon and Lucius Calpurnius Piso Caesoninus, father-in-law of Julius Caesar.
CLASHED THEIR MIGHT
TAKINGS
LEFT, LOSS
FORCED PREY
CLASHED THEIR MIGHT
LIVES WILL
WHAT WE'VE LEFT
CRUEL AWAKE
WATCHED GREED
SHAMED HEARTS
CLAIM, BEDLAM
WASHED GREED
FALLOW LIFE
BREATH, LIFE, HEART RISE
FALLOWED LIVES
LORDS THEN FALL
TAKINGS
LEFT TO FAIL
BROKEN PRAISE
You've drawn
This line
One thousand times
This foe
But we'll fall alone
We're all
On a horse
Of our own
This road is red
These hearts
Are black
This horse
We led
To thay trough
Of wealth
And we drank
Til we felled
But when we awoke
Our steed was dry
Charred and steeped
Pearled and white
But we're all...
On a horse...
Of our own
Beneath sea
Elaborate flood
Sealung
Earthen Mass
Washed
Away
Back to the sea
To see what we missed
When we emerged
Whene we emerged
Ancient wash
Tired force
Birthed life
Welcomed death
Back to the sea
To see what we missed
When we emerged
When we emerged
Too, live
to life
to love
WALLOW
VELVET SWINE
YOU CAGED
TRADED LIFE
DESTINY
WALLOWED
LIFE'S TRADE
IS ALL WE ARE
LIFE'S TRADE
SOULS SOLD
WEIGHTS FELT
GODS BREAK
LIFE'S TRADE
IS ALL WE ARE
VESTED
IN AWKWARD HEARTS
YOUR WALLOW
WILL BREAK
WITH AWKWARD HEARTS
YOUR GODS WILL BREAK
IS ALL WE ARE
LIFE'S TRADE
IS ALL WE ARE
VESTED IN AWKWARD HEARTS...
LIVES
AWKWARD HEARTS
YOUR GOD, YOUR PLOW
WILL BREAK
Chain
Ache
Storm
Sweat
A veil, a cloak
All hailed,
then death
In time, all failed
Myrmidon, soulless
Life, Limb
Ended heart
Smite this life
Worshipped death
Myrmidon
Worshipped death
Stormed
Sweat
Broke
You Broke
these arms
and out
poured dust
All we've done...
Is dried up
On the banks
you left your build
and from your rise
out poured blood
Cry, yearn and scorn
All forgot
You broke
these arms
and out
CLASHED THEIR MIGHT
TAKINGS
LEFT, LOSS
FORCED PREY
CLASHED THEIR MIGHT
LIVES WILL
WHAT WE'VE LEFT
CRUEL AWAKE
WATCHED GREED
SHAMED HEARTS

LORDS THEN FALL
TAKINGS
LEFT TO FAIL
CHAIN
ACHE
STORM
SWEAT
A VEIL, A CLOAK
ALL HAILED, THEN DEATH
IN TIME, ALL FAILED
MYRMIDON, SOULLESS
LIFE, LIMB
ENDED HEART

WORSHIPPED DEATH
MYRMIDON
WORSHIPPED DEATH

BROKE
CHANGED...
