The Red River Delta (Vietnamese: Đồng Bằng Sông Hồng) is the flat plain formed by the Red River and its distributaries joining in the Thai Binh River in northern Vietnam. The delta measuring some 15,000 square km is well protected by a network of dikes. It is an agriculturally rich area and densely populated. Most of the land is devoted to rice cultivation.
Eight provinces together with two municipalities, the capital Hà Nội and the main port Hải Phòng form the delta. It has a population of about ten million.
Water puppetry originated in the rice paddies here.
The region was bombed during the Vietnam War.
A delta is a landform that is formed at the mouth of a river, where that river flows into an ocean, sea, estuary, lake, or reservoir. Deltas are formed from the deposition of the sediment carried by the river as the flow leaves the mouth of the river. Over long periods of time, this deposition builds the characteristic geographic pattern of a river delta.
Contrary to popular belief, the term delta was not coined by Herodotus.
Red River may refer to:
Bad boy, bad boy
Wanting some attention
Looking for some action
Can't get no satisfaction
I am, bad boy
Searching for my place
Falling on my face
Crying out for grace
Take me down
Take me down to Red River
Oh, I need to start again
Take me down
Take me down
Wash me clean in Red River
Cover me in Crimson
I need Red River
I know, I know
I've made a big mistake
Don't deserve no break
His love will never shake
I cry, you cry
Cry out for salvation
Hear this revelation
Ain't no condemnation
Take me down
Take me down to Red River
Oh, I need to start again
Take me down
Take me down
Wash me clean in Red River
Cover me in Crimson
I need Red River
Dripping from that tree
Flowing down Skull Mountain
Into that bloody sea
Cover you
Red River, cover me
Take me down
Take me down to Red River
Oh, I need to start again
Take me down
Take me down
Wash me clean in Red River
Cover me in Crimson
I need Red River
Take me down
Take me down to Red River
I remember campin' all night down by the river's edge
Skinny dippin' in the bright moonlight, divin' off a ledge
Skippin' rocks across the water, fishin' on an old trout line
Gigging frogs till the early mornin', smokin' dried cross vine
Take me back down where the Red River rolls
Send me back to Lou'sianne
Take me back down where the white water flows
To the Cajun promised land
Give me my line and my old pirogue
Get me back as fast as you can
Take me back home where the Red River rolls
Take me back home where the Red River rolls
Floatin' down the river on a patched up inner tube
Eatin' dinner on the ground, made of fresh caught catfish stew
Lay awake at night when I hear a wildcat scream
Tellin' takes around the camp fire light about the girls in our dreams
Take me back down where the Red River rolls
Send me back to Lou'sianne
Take me back down where the white water flows
To the Cajun promised land
Give me my line and my old pirogue
Get me back as fast as you can
Take me back home where the Red River rolls
Take me back home where the Red River rolls
Take me back down where the Red River rolls
Send me back to Lou'sianne
Take me back down where the white water flows
To the Cajun promised land
Give me my line and my old pirogue
Get me back as fast as you can
Take me back home where the Red River rolls
This is what life feels like on the ground
I had a brother who was stationed up in Northern Hill
Country
You know he never really came home
We drove out east to Red River to see the high waters
flow
That river was running just searching for an ocean the
freedom we’d never known
That feeling you get when the wind is blowing like
you’re whole life is starting over
We made our peace there, with the no-man’s land where
we come from
I’ve been searching for the waves to carry us home
To the ocean we all came from, where we’ll all be
returned
I’ve been searching for the waves to carry us home
To the ocean we all came from, where we’ll all be
dissolved into one
Like a crippled animal running on broken legs that
night
His voice was splintering, rising, and falling to a
fate of “I’ll never get out”
From Spokane all the way across Montana, then out to
the Blood Reserve
A black Levis jacket knocking them beers back on the
bank of that river
Underneath September skies inside the U.S. border
He made his peace there – just after his boots filled
up with water
I’ve been searching for the waves to carry us home
To the ocean we all came from, where we’ll all be
returned
I’ve been searching for the waves to carry us home
To the ocean we all came from, where we’ll all be
dissolved into one
The waves will wash away the misguided vision
Of glory in a battlefield of a thousand corpses
I’ve been searching for the waves to carry us home
To the ocean we all came from, where we’ll all be
dissolved
From Palo Duro Canyon outside Amarillo Texas
The prairie dog town fork of the Red River flows
Headed cross the plains along the coast of Oklahoma
To the Mississippi River and the Gulf of Mexico
Red River I know you I know you of old
You have filled up my pockets with quicksand and gold
Susanna oh Susanna when it comes my time
Bury me south of that Red River line
My great grandfather came to that Red River line
And camped on the north side until it was time
To cross or to stay to be sooner or not
He headed south to San Antone they said he liked it hot
Here's to Charlie Goodnight and Mr. Loving too
Here's to Coronado, the Comanche, and the blues
Here's to the bootleggers and the oilfield crews
It was the dead of night in late July.
Thunder crack made the angels cry.
Waters came and washed away all my
fears, they had the final say. So, I took
my love to the water's edge. Took my
love to the final pledge She said "Sorry
son, I've had enough. This livin' on a
prayer is just livin' bad luck."
And "bye-bye"...And the Red River took my love
far away from me. Sweet Angeline
turned and walked away into the night,
into the water's way. She got caught up
in that river's flow. It took her down-
down and it never let go. You talk about
love like its a lastin' thing. Gold
promises, in a wedding ring, we swore
love, in a lastin' vow, but that just don't
Tell me where the blood red river runs
From my back door to the rising sun
On again away till dawn never straight
And way too long I weighed the trees
And hills on scales the zig-zag lightning
And killer whales silver clouds reflected in deep
I don't measure up I don't measure up
Red water's boiling the wind will blow it
Halfway 'cross the ocean the wind will blow it
Red water's boiling the wind will blow it
Halfway 'cross the ocean the wind will blow it
I am a liar I rage on paper a piece of string could only do better
Been talking for years it's hard to remember
A piece of string could only do better
Tell me where the blood red river runs from my back door
To the rising sun on again away till dawn never straight
And way too long way too long way too long way too long
Red water's boiling the wind will blow it
Red water's boiling the wind will blow it
Red water's boiling the wind will blow it
Bad boy, bad boy
Wanting some attention
Looking for some action
Can´t get no satisfaction
Oh, I am, bad boy
Searching for my place

Crying out for grace

Take me down
Take me down to Red River
Oh, I need to start again
Take me down
Take me down
Wash me clean in Red River
Cover me in Crimson
I need Red River
I know, I know
I´ve made a big misstake
Don´t deserve no break
His love will never shake
I cry, you cry
Cry out for salvation
Hear this revelation
Ain´t no condemnation
(Chorus)
Dripping from that tree
Flowing down Scull Mountain
Into that bloody sea
Cover you
Red River, cover me
Dripping from that tree
Flowing down Scull Mountain
Into that bloody sea
Cover you
