Help horses and other equines before they enter into the pipeline of desperation. Too often we see the broadcasts to bail out horses from the pens. Please give whatever you can. They need money to help horses and all equines and to be able to get a home of their own. NEER NORTH rescues local horses that would have ended up at out of state auctions that you see on Facebook pages, horses needing rescue but brokers benefiting for inflated cost to buy back. NEER North actively rescues horses from a variety of situations including: abuse and neglect (both intentional and unintentional), owner surrenders, and innocent horses at risk for slaughter often because of lack of training. NEER North has also helped horses purchased by well meaning people from "rescue rallies" who found themselves overwhelmed, unprepared and underinformed. We are dedicated to helping horses, donkeys, and their owners as well as fellow rescues in any and all ways possible. NEER NORTH gives or finds sanctuary for a horse in need, helps an owner keep their horse through our Feed Fund, or assisting another rescue. Between 2011 and mid year 2013, NEER North provided assistance for over 100 horses in need. 2013 was to be the year of fundraising for a new home but things took a horrible turn for local horses owners. NEER North stepped up when others turned away and took in horses no other rescue could help. Healthy horses who were rideable but not marketable because of age, abandoned horses, green horses and horses whose owners had lost their own homes. They utilized connections and friends to make room and do what others hadn't been able to. In May 2013 alone they rescued 8 local horses who had run out of options. No Massachusetts rescue had room so they stretched their resources when others had turned desperate owners away. NEER NORTH proved its mantra of relocate, rehabilitate, rehome not to be just a slogan but what they do. Two of the horses taken in scored as 1-2 on the equine health scale -- close to starvation. Several were owner surrenders who had lost homes and barns and simply could not find homes for their horses because they were over 16 years of age. Another was abandoned. Most of the equines were trained and rideable. Several will soon be available for placement. Unfortunately this put the fundraising to get NEER North a property they own on a back burner. Donation to local rescues significantly dropped after the natural disasters in other parts of the country. It is time again to light the fire to get NEER North a home of its own. NEER North is a rescue emphasizing care for the local equine community and not sending these horses away. NEER North keeps horses out of Camelot Out of New Holland out of the damning and damaging cycle putting money in "rescue brokers" pockets. NEER North saves Horses and Donkeys and Mules. NEER North hopes to establish a permanent home for the rescue, and we have established a fundraising goal of $300,000 to put us on the path to our own home. NEER North currently leases property in West Newbury, MA, but seeks to purchase a permanent property in the coming year. At present, NEER North's limited facilities and pasture space hampers the impact that the organization can have on the equine community. By acquiring its own land, hay fields and barn, NEER North expects to expand its operations, grow hay and shift funds currently allocated towards rent and feed to more directly benefit local horses in crisis. In additions, NEER North plans to expand further into the community by hosting clinics and events at the new facility. NEER North also needs funds to continue to do what they do SAVE HORSES, SAVE ALL EQUINES. Please give whatever you can.
