Rumble Works is a Ten
Hour sonic collage of low frequencies (
Brown Noise and
Grey Noise were the foundation) melded together with effects added the slowly moved the sounds in an electronically designed yet natural behavior. By popular demand, Rumble Works is soothing to many listeners and simultaneously powerful in sound.
It is meditative in quality and great for sleeping, relaxation or to drown out other unwanted sounds in the listener's environment.
The Noise series sound sound sculptures we're created for fun and I claim no phenomenal powers of healing, therapy or otherwise beyond the power of music and the human listening experience. The comment fields indicate listener's enjoy and use Noise for a number of individual reasons--just like people's unique preferences toward artists and styles of music. Since has yet to define the magic of the human listening experience. therefore defining what a listener will get out of noise is circumspect. I have been a recording engineer for decades and love music, and sound in general.
At the end of the day of creating and refining ' traditional' music, my soul craves a sonic experience different from music. How about no drums, no bass, no guitars, no singing? How about, no melodies, no rhythm, no harmonies, no notes
. In the spirit oh
John Cage,
Brian Eno,
Max Neuhaus and
Stockhausen, let's go ultra minimal starting with a basic noise source filter (
Equalize) and play it for ten hours. These are the noise series. Now let's take the basic noise filtered and add some additional , yet creatively constrained moving filters and effects to add interest and assure the sequence does not repeat in the Ten
Hours. The first of these was Sweeping
Pink Noise with one modulating filter applied to Pink Noise. Sweeping Grey Noise takes it a step further adding 2 additional
Grey noise sources Doppler shifted. Rumble works has
Brown and Grey Noise and a couple low frequency oscillators as it's source material. These were creatively blended fileted effected and mixed until it felt right to me. All techno-analysis aside, I hope you enjoy it.
Happy Listening, DaleSnale
