We’ll answer those questions and more. So ya’ll should grab your hush puppies and barbecue, we’re gonna unbox the state of South Carolina!
Wow. So pretty. What a nice coast, huh? This is the South Carolina coast. One of the prettiest stretches of land in the nation. A lot of South Carolina’s coast is this beautiful.
But as we’ll see, not ALL of South Carolina beaches are magnificent. And, obviously, the whole state isn’t a big beach. Because we don’t have any states like that.
South Carolina is a big state with a lot of different regions. And a lot of history, too. And to completely understand this whole state, we should give a general overview, and then focus on each region.
This... is South Carolina. You can basically break this state into 6 different areas. Each one has its own distinct identity.

Is South Carolina ALL crummy? Maybe not.
So the last time we talked about South Carolina, we learned a whole lot about this state. Like, we learned that the best places you can live in this state are going to be in the Greenville-Clemson metro area, up here in the Charlotte metro area in places like Rock Hill, and in the Charleston area, although living in Charleston is basically for wealthy people. You can’t afford it. There are also areas all along the coast south of Charleston to the Georgia border where rich golfers live.
We also learned the worst areas in South Carolina are in the smaller communities in the northeastern part of the state - places like Florence, Darlington, and sadly Myrtle Beach, which has a lot of crime and poverty.
And that’s a theme that resonated with South Carolina in the first video - poverty and crime. However, South Carolina is trying to make a comeback. It’s the 10th fastest growing state in the country right now, as lots of wealthy retirees are coming here in droves.
But there’s a lot more to South Carolina than that. We didn’t talk about some South Carolina history, interesting facts and the issues that people in South Carolina face today.
So that’s what we’re gonna do in this video. Kind of pick up where we left off in a more lighthearted way. We’re going to look at all of that stuff and even meet some people who LIVE in South Carolina who are gonna tell us what it's like in their state and where you could move if you relocate here. Charleston, South Carolina is one of the most charming historical cities in the United States. Among the many things to do here, you can go for a stroll in the historic center. Charleston was once the richest city in the US, and it was among the largest as well. Today it lives and breathes history. It's located on the east coast of the USA and it was settled by British explorers in 1670. The best thing is that you can walk everywhere in the historical district.

South Carolina 
i/ˌsaʊθ kærəˈlaɪnə/ is a state in the southeastern region of the United States. The state is bordered to the north by North Carolina, to the south and west by Georgia across the Savannah River, and to the east by the Atlantic Ocean.
The Province of South Carolina became a slave society after rice and indigo became established as commodity crops. From 1708, a majority of the population were slaves, many born in Africa.
South Carolina was the first state to ratify the Articles of Confederation and the eighth state to ratify the U.S. Constitution on May 23, 1788. South Carolina became the first state to vote to secede from the Union on December 20, 1860. After the American Civil War, it was readmitted into the United States on June 25, 1868.
South Carolina is the 40th most extensive and the 23rd most populous U.S. state. Its GDP as of 2013 was $183.6 billion, with an annual growth rate of 3.13%. South Carolina comprises 46 counties. The capital and largest city is Columbia with a 2013 population of 133,358; the Greenville-Anderson-Mauldin metropolitan area had a 2013 population of 850,965.

BI-LO 200
The BI-LO 200 was a former NASCAR Busch Series event held from 1983–2004, and was always run as an accompanying race to the Southern 500. When the Southern 500 was dropped from the schedule and Darlington's Busch Series schedule was reduced to one race, this race was removed in favor of the O'Reilly Auto Parts Challenge at Texas Motor Speedway because of the Ferko lawsuit.
Mark Martin led all drivers in race wins with five. Only two other drivers, Harry Gant and Jeff Burton, won multiple BI-LO 200s, with both drivers winning three times.

Indien (1778)
Indien (1778), often L'Indien, was a frigate built for the U.S. Commissioners in France — Benjamin Franklin, Silas Deane, and Arthur Lee — to a design by the French naval architect Jacques Boux. She was laid down early in 1777 by a private shipyard in Amsterdam and launched in February 1778. Apparently she was built with the scantlings and lines of a small 74-gun Third Rate ship of the line but was a frigate in construction. In 1780 the Duke of Luxembourg chartered her to the navy of South Carolina and she sailed as South Carolina.
Her armament consisted of 28 Swedish long 36-pounder guns on her main deck, and 12 long 12-pounders on her forecastle and her quarterdeck. Perhaps her greatest significance is that the marine architect Joshua Humphreys studied her sleek hull and used her lines in designing the United States Navy's first frigates, especially USS Constitution and USS Constellation.
Construction history
Late in the year John Paul Jones sailed for France, hoping to assume command of Indien; but, before his arrival, financial difficulties and opposition from the still-neutral Dutch government, under pressure from Great Britain, had forced the Commissioners to sell the new frigate to Louis XVI, King of France.

South Carolina Gamecocks football
The South Carolina Gamecocks football team represents the University of South Carolina in the sport of American football. The Gamecocks compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision of the NCAA and the Eastern Division of the Southeastern Conference. Steve Spurrier was the head coach from 2005 to 2015 before his resignation on October 12, 2015; Will Muschamp currently serves as the team's head coach. They play their home games at Williams-Brice Stadium. Currently, it is the 20th largest stadium in college football.
USC's SEC tenure has been highlighted by an SEC East title in 2010, Final Top-25 rankings in 2000, 2001, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 (AP No. 19, No. 13, No. 22, No. 9, No. 8 and No. 4), and four wins over Top-5 SEC opponents, (No. 4 Ole Miss in 2009, No. 1 Alabama in 2010, No. 5 Georgia in 2012 and at No. 5 Missouri in 2013).
From 1953 through 1970, the Gamecocks played in the Atlantic Coast Conference, winning the 1969 ACC championship and finishing No. 15 in the 1958 final AP poll. From 1971 through 1991, they competed as a major independent, producing 1980 Heisman Trophy winner George Rogers, six bowl appearances, and Final Top-25 rankings in 1984 and 1987 (AP No. 11 and No. 15).

South Carolina Gamecocks
The University of South Carolina's varsity sports teams are known as the "Gamecocks". This unique moniker is held in honor of Thomas Sumter, a Revolutionary War hero from South Carolina who was nicknamed the "Carolina Gamecock" after British General Banastre Tarleton said Sumter "fought like a gamecock." While the men's teams were traditionally the Fighting Gamecocks and the women were previously the Lady Gamecocks, this distinction was discontinued in part to eliminate any gender bias in the athletic department and in part to counter misconceptions about the gamecock mascot endorsing bloodsport.
All of the University's varsity teams compete at the Division I level of the NCAA, and all but men's soccer and women's beach volleyball compete in the Southeastern Conference. Men's soccer competes in Conference USA and women's beach volleyball competes in the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association because the SEC does not sponsor those sports.
South Carolina usually calls itself "Carolina," "USC," or "SC" in athletics, causing some conflict with the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Southern California Trojans. Sports networks, such as ESPN, use the abbreviation "SCAR" during their coverage of Gamecocks sports.

South Carolina wine refers to wine made from grapes grown in the U.S. state of South Carolina. The climate of South Carolina is challenging for the production of wine grapes. Hot and humid summers require viticulturalists to adapt their canopy management to minimize direct sunlight on the grapes, which are often harvested early in the summer. There are six wineries in South Carolina and no designated American Viticultural Areas.

Is South Carolina ALL crummy? Maybe not. So the last time we talked about South Carolina, we learned a whole lot about this state. Like, we learned that the best places you can live in this state are going to be in the Greenville-Clemson metro area, up here in the Charlotte metro area in places like Rock Hill, and in the Charleston area, although living in Charleston is basically for wealthy people. Is South Carolina ALL crummy? Maybe not.
So the last time we talked about South Carolina, we learned a whole lot about this state. Like, we learned that the best places you can live in this state are going to be in the Greenville-Clemson metro area, up here in the Charlotte metro area in places like Rock Hill, and in the Charleston area, although living in Charleston is basically for wealthy people. You can’t afford it. There are also areas all along the coast south of Charleston to the Georgia border where rich golfers live.
We also learned the worst areas in South Carolina are in the smaller communities in the northeastern part of the state - places like Florence, Darlington, and sadly Myrtle Beach, which has a lot of crime and poverty.
And that’s a theme that resonated with South Carolina in the first video - poverty and crime. However, South Carolina is trying to make a comeback. It’s the 10th fastest growing state in the country right now, as lots of wealthy retirees are coming here in droves.
But there’s a lot more to South Carolina than that. We didn’t talk about some South Carolina history, interesting facts and the issues that people in South Carolina face today.
So that’s what we’re gonna do in this video. Kind of pick up where we left off in a more lighthearted way. We’re going to look at all of that stuff and even meet some people who LIVE in South Carolina who are gonna tell us what it's like in their state and where you could move if you relocate here. I am a Brazilian journalist living in the United States. After traveling the world working with sports, news, and events for over 15 years, I realized that what I really love is the travel part of it all. We’ll answer those questions and more. So ya’ll should grab your hush puppies and barbecue, we’re gonna unbox the state of South Carolina!
Wow. So pretty. What a nice coast, huh? This is the South Carolina coast. One of the prettiest stretches of land in the nation. A lot of South Carolina’s coast is this beautiful.
But as we’ll see, not ALL of South Carolina beaches are magnificent. And, obviously, the whole state isn’t a big beach. Because we don’t have any states like that.
South Carolina is a big state with a lot of different regions. And a lot of history, too. And to completely understand this whole state, we should give a general overview, and then focus on each region.
This... is South Carolina. You can basically break this state into 6 different areas. Each one has its own distinct identity.

Is South Carolina ALL crummy? Maybe not.
So the last time we talked about South Carolina, we learned a whole lot about this state. Like, we learned that the best places you can live in this state are going to be in the Greenville-Clemson metro area, up here in the Charlotte metro area in places like Rock Hill, and in the Charleston area, although living in Charleston is basically for wealthy people. You can’t afford it. There are also areas all along the coast south of Charleston to the Georgia border where rich golfers live.
We also learned the worst areas in South Carolina are in the smaller communities in the northeastern part of the state - places like Florence, Darlington, and sadly Myrtle Beach, which has a lot of crime and poverty.
And that’s a theme that resonated with South Carolina in the first video - poverty and crime. However, South Carolina is trying to make a comeback. It’s the 10th fastest growing state in the country right now, as lots of wealthy retirees are coming here in droves.
But there’s a lot more to South Carolina than that. We didn’t talk about some South Carolina history, interesting facts and the issues that people in South Carolina face today.
So that’s what we’re gonna do in this video. Kind of pick up where we left off in a more lighthearted way. We’re going to look at all of that stuff and even meet some people who LIVE in South Carolina who are gonna tell us what it's like in their state and where you could move if you relocate here. South Carolina
South Carolina i/ˌsaʊθ kærəˈlaɪnə/ is a state in the southeastern region of the United States. The state is bordered to the north by North Carolina, to the south and west by Georgia across the Savannah River, and to the east by the Atlantic Ocean.
The Province of South Carolina became a slave society after rice and indigo became established as commodity crops. From 1708, a majority of the population were slaves, many born in Africa.
South Carolina was the first state to ratify the Articles of Confederation and the eighth state to ratify the U.S. Constitution on May 23, 1788. South Carolina became the first state to vote to secede from the Union on December 20, 1860. After the American Civil War, it was readmitted into the United States on June 25, 1868.
South Carolina is the 40th most extensive and the 23rd most populous U.S. state. Its GDP as of 2013 was $183.6 billion, with an annual growth rate of 3.13%. South Carolina comprises 46 counties. The capital and largest city is Columbia with a 2013 population of 133,358; the Greenville-Anderson-Mauldin metropolitan area had a 2013 population of 850,965.
