Brigham Young University Television (also known as BYUtv or BYU Television) is an HD cable/satellite television channel operated by Brigham Young University. BYUtv content originates from the university and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and is broadcast nationally through cable, satellite, and the internet.
It is sometimes confused with KBYU-TV, a PBS member station in Provo, Utah also owned by BYU, but the two stations do not share the same schedule. KBYU-TV and its digital translator stations do however, carry BYUtv on digital subchannel 11.2, ensuring coverage across Salt Lake City and most of Utah.
BYUtv delivers programming to viewers across the globe through direct satellite broadcast services (for example, Dish and DirecTV), cable carriers in select areas, the church satellite system, and internet streaming.
In 2007, BYU Broadcasting launched a new channel, BYU Television International, which features programming in the Spanish and Portuguese languages.
In 2011, BYU Broadcasting launched a new channel, BYUtv Global, which features programming similar to BYUtv, but that has worldwide broadcast privileges.
