Kristy Thirsk is a platinum selling Canadian singer-songwriter best known for her work with Delerium.
Rose Chronicles
She was the singer and a co-writer for the band Rose Chronicles, which was signed to Nettwerk in the 1990s. Rose Chronicles released two full-length albums: Shiver (1994), which won a Juno Award for Best Alternative Album, and Happily Ever After (1996). The band split up in 1997.
Collaborations
In the years that followed, Thirsk was featured as a guest vocalist and co-writer on albums by Delerium and Balligomingo. She sang the vocals in Front Line Assembly's cover of Madonna's "Justify My Love" and Mystery Machine's cover of Blondie's "Heart of Glass."
According to Thirsk, in an Auralgasms interview, Garrett Schwarz allegedly borrowed samples from her Delerium song, "Incantation" and then released his own song on the Balligomingo album, Beneath The Surface. This, she explained, was the reason she discontinued any further collaboration with Schwarz.
Thirsk was also involved in the initial stages of Adrian White's side project Silent Alarm. The Sleepthief album The Dawnseeker, released June 2006, features Thirsk's vocals in the songs "Sublunar (Sweet Angel)". Sleepthief's follow-up The Chauffeur - The Remix - EP features Thirsk on "Send Me an Angel", a remake of the Scorpions' 1990 power ballad. She also sings on "Overkill" for the D:Fuse & Mike Hiratzka album Skyline Lounge (July 2007).

Thirsk is a small market town and civil parish in the Hambleton district of North Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the North Riding of Yorkshire, it is 8 miles (13 km) south-south east of the county town of Northallerton.
According to the 2011 UK Census, the population was 4,998. Thirsk is a popular tourist destination close to the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors. It has a variety of small and medium-sized businesses. It was the home of author James Herriot and birthplace of Thomas Lord, after whom Lord's Cricket Ground is named. Thirsk racecourse is on the western edge of the town.
History
Local archeological finds indicate there was a settlement here around 500–600 BC. The town is mentioned twice in the Domesday Book as Tresche, in the Yarlestre hundred. At the time of the Norman invasion the manor was split between Orm and Thor, local Saxon landowners. Afterwards the manor was split between Hugh, son of Baldric and the Crown. Most of the land was granted thereafter to Robert de Mowbray, after whom the surrounding vale is named.

Thirsk (UK Parliament constituency)
Thirsk was a parliamentary borough in Yorkshire, represented in the English and later British House of Commons in 1295, and again from 1547. It was represented by two Members of Parliament until 1832, and by one member from 1832 to 1885, when the constituency was abolished and absorbed into the new Thirsk and Malton division of the North Riding of Yorkshire.
The borough consisted of originally of the town of Old Thirsk, and included a population of only 1,378 at the 1831 census. The right to vote was restricted to the holders of burgage tenements, of which there were 50 in 1831. The Frankland family were the local landowners (in 1816 Sir Thomas owned 49 of the 50 burgage tenements), and in effect could nominate whoever they wanted as Members of Parliament; there was no contested election in Thirsk between 1715 and 1832.
The Great Reform Act of 1832 expanded the boundaries to include the townships of Thirsk, Sowerby, Carlton Miniott, Sandhutton, Bagby and South Kilvington, increasing the population to 4,672 and encompassing 1,064 houses, which was considered big enough for the borough to retain one of its two members.

Thirsk Walk: Town Centre【4K】
Located in the county of North Yorkshire, and around 20 miles northwest of York, is the town of Thirsk. The town's name is derived from Old Norse 'þresk', meaning fen/lake. In 1092 a Norman Castle was built here by the de Mowbray family, but was later destroyed in the 1170s under orders from Henry II who had fallen out of favour with the de Mowbrays. In 1145 a market charter was granted to Thirsk. Historically, industries in the town included linen, leather, milling, brewing and malting among others. Between circa 1430 and 1480, St Mary's Church was built (seen at the end of the walk). It was constructed from sandstone ashlar in the Perpendicular Gothic style, and is Grade I listed. Located in the county of North Yorkshire, and around 20 miles northwest of York, is the town of Thirsk.
The town's name is derived from Old Norse 'þresk', meaning fen/lake. In 1092 a Norman Castle was built here by the de Mowbray family, but was later destroyed in the 1170s under orders from Henry II who had fallen out of favour with the de Mowbrays.
In 1145 a market charter was granted to Thirsk. Historically, industries in the town included linen, leather, milling, brewing and malting among others.
Between circa 1430 and 1480, St Mary's Church was built (seen at the end of the walk). It was constructed from sandstone ashlar in the Perpendicular Gothic style, and is Grade I listed.
In 1580 draper Bartholomew Smith set up B. Smith & Sons from Thirsk. This drapery firm traded here for nearly 400 years - a feat of longevity which earned it an entry into the Guinness Book of Records.
From the mid-18th century, following the development of turnpike roads, Thirsk became a popular staging post off the Great North Road from London to Edinburgh. As such, a number of coaching inns accommodated the horses and passengers during this time prior to the arrival of the railways. These included the Golden Fleece and the Three Tuns, both of which remain to this day on Market Place, albeit as a hotel and pub respectively.
In 1841 the railway arrived in Thirsk with the opening of a station originally known as Newcastle Junction. Today, the station forms part of the East Coast Main Line which runs between London King's Cross and Edinburgh Waverley, although at the time of writing, only Transpennine Express and Grand Central trains stop at Thirsk, meaning services here are less frequent than on other mainline stations. It is also worth noting that the station is located over a mile west of the town centre. Between the two is Thirsk Racecourse.
In 1896 Thirsk's Market Clock was built to mark the 1893 wedding of the Duke of York and Princess May of Teck - later to become King George V and Queen Mary. In 1937 the clock was converted to operate electrically. In 1956 it underwent major restoration work by public subscription.
In 1940 veterinary surgeon James Alfred Wight moved to Thirsk whilst in his 20s. He would later become an author under the pen name James Herriot. The town was part of the inspiration for his novels' fictional town of Darrowby - which is said to be a composite of not only Thirsk, but also nearby Richmond, Leyburn and Middleham. His former home on 23 Kirkgate has since been transformed into the World of James Herriot museum.
Thirsk is the birthplace of cricketer Thomas Lord, who founded Lord's Cricket Ground in London.

Located in the county of North Yorkshire, and around 20 miles northwest of York, is the town of Thirsk.
The town's name is derived from Old Norse 'þresk', meaning fen/lake. In 1092 a Norman Castle was built here by the de Mowbray family, but was later destroyed in the 1170s under orders from Henry II who had fallen out of favour with the de Mowbrays.
In 1145 a market charter was granted to Thirsk. Historically, industries in the town included linen, leather, milling, brewing and malting among others.
Between circa 1430 and 1480, St Mary's Church was built (seen at the end of the walk). It was constructed from sandstone ashlar in the Perpendicular Gothic style, and is Grade I listed.
In 1580 draper Bartholomew Smith set up B. Smith & Sons from Thirsk. This drapery firm traded here for nearly 400 years - a feat of longevity which earned it an entry into the Guinness Book of Records.
From the mid-18th century, following the development of turnpike roads, Thirsk became a popular staging post off the Great North Road from London to Edinburgh. As such, a number of coaching inns accommodated the horses and passengers during this time prior to the arrival of the railways. These included the Golden Fleece and the Three Tuns, both of which remain to this day on Market Place, albeit as a hotel and pub respectively.
In 1841 the railway arrived in Thirsk with the opening of a station originally known as Newcastle Junction. Today, the station forms part of the East Coast Main Line which runs between London King's Cross and Edinburgh Waverley, although at the time of writing, only Transpennine Express and Grand Central trains stop at Thirsk, meaning services here are less frequent than on other mainline stations. It is also worth noting that the station is located over a mile west of the town centre. Between the two is Thirsk Racecourse.
In 1896 Thirsk's Market Clock was built to mark the 1893 wedding of the Duke of York and Princess May of Teck - later to become King George V and Queen Mary. In 1937 the clock was converted to operate electrically. In 1956 it underwent major restoration work by public subscription.
In 1940 veterinary surgeon James Alfred Wight moved to Thirsk whilst in his 20s. He would later become an author under the pen name James Herriot. The town was part of the inspiration for his novels' fictional town of Darrowby - which is said to be a composite of not only Thirsk, but also nearby Richmond, Leyburn and Middleham. His former home on 23 Kirkgate has since been transformed into the World of James Herriot museum.
Thirsk is the birthplace of cricketer Thomas Lord, who founded Lord's Cricket Ground in London.

Kristy Thirsk is a platinum selling Canadian singer-songwriter best known for her work with Delerium.
Rose Chronicles
She was the singer and a co-writer for the band Rose Chronicles, which was signed to Nettwerk in the 1990s. Rose Chronicles released two full-length albums: Shiver (1994), which won a Juno Award for Best Alternative Album, and Happily Ever After (1996). The band split up in 1997.
Collaborations
In the years that followed, Thirsk was featured as a guest vocalist and co-writer on albums by Delerium and Balligomingo. She sang the vocals in Front Line Assembly's cover of Madonna's "Justify My Love" and Mystery Machine's cover of Blondie's "Heart of Glass."
According to Thirsk, in an Auralgasms interview, Garrett Schwarz allegedly borrowed samples from her Delerium song, "Incantation" and then released his own song on the Balligomingo album, Beneath The Surface. This, she explained, was the reason she discontinued any further collaboration with Schwarz.
Thirsk was also involved in the initial stages of Adrian White's side project Silent Alarm. The Sleepthief album The Dawnseeker, released June 2006, features Thirsk's vocals in the songs "Sublunar (Sweet Angel)". Sleepthief's follow-up The Chauffeur - The Remix - EP features Thirsk on "Send Me an Angel", a remake of the Scorpions' 1990 power ballad. She also sings on "Overkill" for the D:Fuse & Mike Hiratzka album Skyline Lounge (July 2007).
