The inner city is the central area of a major city or metropolis. In the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Ireland, the term is often a euphemism – an increasingly inaccurate one – applied to the lower-income residential districts in the city centre and nearby areas. In the United States, the term has the additional connotation of impoverished Black and/or Hispanic neighborhoods. Sociologists in these countries sometimes turn this euphemism into a formal designation, applying the term inner city to such residential areas rather than to geographically more central commercial districts.[citation needed]
However, the euphemism is increasingly inaccurate and irrelevant as inner city areas of American cities have undergone gentrification especially since the 1990s.
Such connotations are less common in other countries, where deprived areas may be located in outlying parts of cities. For instance, in many European cities, the inner city is the most prosperous part of the metropolis, where housing is expensive and where elites and high-income individuals dwell. Poverty and crime are more associated with the distant suburbs. The Spanish, French and Swedish words for suburb (suburbio, banlieue and förort respectively) often have a negative connotation similar to that of the English term inner city, especially when used in the plural.
Marvin Pentz Gay, Jr. (April 2, 1939 – April 1, 1984), better known by his stage name Marvin Gaye (he added the 'e' as a young man), was an acclaimed American singer-songwriter and musician with a three-octave vocal range, who achieved major success in the 1960s and 1970s as an artist for the Motown Records label. He was shot dead by his father on April 1, 1984.
Starting his career as a member of the doo-wop group The Moonglows in the late 1950s, he ventured into a solo career after the group disbanded in 1960, signing with Motown Records subsidiary, Tamla. He started off as a session drummer, but later ranked as the label's top-selling solo artist during the 1960s. He was crowned "The Prince of Motown" and "The Prince of Soul". because of solo hits such as "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)", "Ain't That Peculiar", "I Heard It Through the Grapevine," and his duet singles with singers such as Mary Wells and Tammi Terrell.
His work in the early- and mid-1970s included the albums, What's Going On, Let's Get It On, and I Want You, which helped influence the quiet storm, urban adult contemporary, and slow jam genres. After a self-imposed European exile in the early 1980s, Gaye returned on the 1982 Grammy-Award winning hit, "Sexual Healing" and the Midnight Love album before his death.
Ferry Corsten, also known under the alias System F, (born 4 December 1973) is a Dutch producer of trance music, in addition to being a DJ and remixer. He also hosts his own weekly radio show, Corsten's Countdown. He routinely plays at events all over the world with crowds in excess of tens of thousands. In 2009 Ferry Corsten ranked #7 on DJ Magazine's annual Top 100 DJ Poll, dropping to #9 and #18 in subsequent years.
Ferry Corsten was born in Rotterdam, Netherlands. He has produced and remixed under many aliases since the release of his first record at the age of sixteen, but he officially started to work as a musician when he was 17 years old. As a teenager he saved money to buy his first keyboard by washing cars, and selling mix tapes to kids in his neighbourhood. He later began to perform live performances with a friend and won his first award "De Grote Prijs van Nederland" at Holland in 1989. He eventually released a record with a couple of friends when he was just sixteen years old and later began releasing self-made productions while he grew up in Rotterdam in the 1990s, producing underground hardcore gabber tracks, later expanding into club-house and trance music. His first single to reach a chart position was "Don't Be Afraid" under the alias Moonman, which was only the start for becoming a composer as well. In 1997 Corsten and his partner Robert Smit established a dance label named Tsunami with the Dutch based dance company Purple Eye Entertainment b.v., this junction made the creation of another label possible; Polar State. Ferry Corsten was studying to become an Electrical Engineer, so he went to the Technical Training School and after that Higher Technical Education.

We don't really need a crowd to have a party
Just a funky beat and you to get it started
and oh
We'll dance the night away.
We're having big fun and the party's just begun
yeah
We're having big fun
big fun!
It won't take a lot of thought for you to do it
You just feel the groove and baby
then you move it
and oh
Dance the night away.
We're having big fun and the party just begun
yeah
We're having big fun
big fun!
I think you're ready
Freddie
now its time to join the party
Baby
let's get stoned into the pool
Getting ready to find you
tonight!
We're having big fun
the party's just begun
yeah
We're having big fun
big fun
we're having big fun!
We can dance all day until the daylight
And when we feel that's just like we know
We can dance the night away.
We're having big fun
the party's just begun
yeah
We're having big fun
big fun!
We're having big fun
the party's jsut begun
yeah
We are having big fun

Oh, I
See my way into another world
It's just on the other side--
Can you make the journey into my world?
I am faced with many things
With love and diamond rings
And more, so much more.
But now I'm ready for something new
A journey built for two
So come along with me.
I'll set your body free
You want to
You got to
Set your body free
Can you visualize
The pleasures with me?
There is much more
Much more for you to see, baby
Let me show you a real good time
Come along with me
Oh, I
See my way into another world
It's just on the other side--
Can you make the journey into my world?
I am faced with many things
With love and diamond rings
And more, so much more.
But now I'm ready for something new
A journey built for two
So come along with me.
I'll set your body free
You want to
You got to
Set your body free
Can you visualize
The pleasures with me?
There is much more
Much more for you to see, baby
Let me show you a real good time
Come along with me
I'll set your body free, yeah
Peace,
can we hold it together
Seems to me
like we're having a problem
Can't we try to talk it through,
just me and you
If we keep the faith in
I know we can solve it
If you see
someone who has lost their way
Seems to me
like we're having a problem
Just reach out and help them
No-one said
we could solve every problem
It's so special,
lend me your helping hand
Lets make the peace right,
sisters and brothers
Reach out a hand,
touch each and everyone
Caring to share,
pennies from heaven
Not the usual urban condition is what you felt
Approaching the inner city court
Maybe it's just a matter of perspective
Or just the effect of incomes and points of view
Dirty mattresses
Broken down cars
Lonely old man in the doorway
With indifference, flogging a dead horse
Hoping that somethingwill change
Will change!
I wanna see my people smile
I wanna see my people smile
I wanna see my people shine
I wanna see my people shine high
D-E-S-T-R-O-Y
Is what you could easily read
Written in black fonts
Walls are covered
Whit a script that sings
"Fight fire with fire"
Lnely dead boy, walking down the yard,
Encounting how many steps
could a lonely dead boy walk
How could a dead boy walk?
I wanna see my people smile
I wanna see my people smile
I wanna see my people shine
You got such a happy gaze like you walk around in a daze.
Do you love what you feel ? Down inside you know that it's real.
You want to shout it out loud that you got your head in a cloud ?
Inside the natural way you know what I mean when I say:
Do you love what you feel ?
Do you love what you feel ?
Nothing to keep you down
when there's lots of love to be found
you've got the right to be
just what you want to be.
Good feelings overflown when they have a big place to grow.
Do you love what you feel ?
- You know it's real !
Do you love what you feel ?
Do you love what you feel ?
Do you love what you feel ?
Nothing to keep you down when there's lots of love to be found
Do you know what I'm talking about
when I say that there ain't nobody
there ain't nobody who can love me like you love me.
I tried hard to let you go
I tried to say good-bye
but every time I tried I just cried.
I could choose to lose you
but you bring out the best in me
just let me tell you that -
no matter what I could do
lovin' you only makes me see that -
no one in the world
no one in the world could make me feel
no one in the world could make me feel so real love.
Ain't nobody
ain't nobody better
baby
ain't nobody better
baby.
Ain't nobody
ain't nobody better
baby
ain't nobody better
baby.
Ain't nobody
ain't nobody better
baby
ain't nobody better
baby.
I tried hard to let you go
I tried hard to say good-bye
but as hard as I tried
saying good-bye just made me cry.
Ain't nobody
ain't nobody better
baby
ain't nobody better
baby.
Ain't nobody
ain't nobody better
baby
ain't nobody better
baby.
Ain't nobody
ain't nobody better
baby
ain't nobody better
baby.
Because there's no mystery
I know all about you that you know about me
I've looked everywhere
but there's nothing there
there ain't nobody !
Ain't nobody
ain't nobody better
baby
ain't nobody better
baby.
Ain't nobody
ain't nobody better
baby
ain't nobody better
baby.
Because there's no mystery
I know all about you that you know about me
I've looked everywhere
but there's nothing there
there ain't nobody !
Ain't nobody
ain't nobody better
baby
ain't nobody better
baby.
Ain't nobody
ain't nobody better
baby
ain't nobody better
Let me take you to a place I know you want to go
it's a good life
I wanna stand around and beg you
just don't say no
no no
no no.
I have got a feeling that you're gonna like it what I'm doing to you
And I know what I'm doing
I'll be doing what you want to me to do.
Love is shining
life is thriving in the good life

No more rainy days
the sun will chase the clouds away
in the good life.
Good life

Inner city
Burning cities,
burst into fears
The inner rivalries turning into disgrace
Gone are the ways
live to fight another day
Another heartache,
urban decay
The propaganda's killing youth of today
Inciting carnage
but who are there for us to blame?
Enough of trouble,
enough of hate
I can live without
causing an affray
The inner city
is getting out of hand...
It's time to change
before it's too late
Coz it ain't freedom
by breeding too much hate
& if it remains,
this'll be the nation of the dead
Another heartache,
urban decay
The propaganda's killing youth of today
Inciting carnage,
only we ourselves are left to blame
Inner City
[Intro: E-Swift]
Ladies and gentlemen..
You are about to witness the amazing sounds of..
(E to the motherfuckin' Swift) and Defari Herut, c'mon
AH, AH, Likwit motherfucker
What, you didn't know?
Let it bump, let it bump, let it bump
[Defari]
Knowin' what I know and seein' what I've seen
You'll get left behind when you daydream
See me, I live it out
Real talk, bullshit walk
Yo Swift, tell 'em what we talkin' 'bout
[E-Swift]
Aight
We talkin' 'bout... um, determination
A hungry pack of wolves is what you're facing
Swimming with the sharks, walkin' big dogs that bark
Through every ghetto, project, and park
[Defari]
If I could take what I take, and show you all I had
Half of y'all would still end up mad
You haters can't hide from yourself
The liqour's top... shelf
[E-Swift]
Yo if you wanna play to win you gotta play hard
You gotta fight, get bruised, battered, and scarred
My niggaz go rhyme for rhyme on anybody you can think of
We official Likwit niggaz drinkin' all your drink up..
Faggot
[Defari]
Smoke to choke
Guess that's how it is, always been dope
Tell you 'bout this letter to this bird I wrote
Told her ninety-three muscles in your throat
[E-Swift]
Bitch, gobble it up
You fuckin' with some rollo niggaz, rollo as fuck
Mind been corrupt since I was a young buck
Gettin' caught with my pants down beatin' it up
[Chorus: x2]
Life in the innercity
This for all my rollo niggs -
That's livin' that life in the innercity
Life in the innercity
This for all my ghetto chicks -
That's livin' that life in the innercity
[E-Swift]
Keep your head high..
I know you strugglin' tryin' to make ends tie
So I understand why... we love what we struggle for
Dedicate the rest of our lives to be..
HUH!, FRESH, pure unsaturated
West Coast best, veterans at this shit
Never forget, we legendary Likwit
[Defari]
Innercity blues -
That's when you got a girl with itty-bitty two's
Really, did he do? Mad work from T dot to Vancouv (oh, fo sho)
Los Scandalous - out of towner's, they can't handle the truth
[E-Swift]
Innercity youth
Wild motherfuckers runnin' loose
We talkin' bout -
[Chorus: x2]
[Defari]
Figure it out
The streets make niggaz drink the crown
S.D. to the town, skatin' on rims straight burnin' it down
[E-Swift]
Wash the truck, keep the twenty-two's wet, sticky as fuck
Bump the beats, my amp rack ???? when I stomp the streets
Pull up to the club, valet park my shit up front for a dub
It ain't nuttin' but love
Jealous niggaz lookin' at me and my hoes like "what?!"
[Defari]
Angry for days
Hooks act in the strangest of ways
Likwit stay paid
A to the L to the K to the A to the -
[Chorus: x4]
[Outro: Defari]
Yeah, South Central, the Eastside
Inglewood, Carson, Hawthorne, Lynwood
Venice, Culver City, Santa Monica
Palms, Paqoima, Van Nuys
Panarama City, Verseeta?..
Pico low!!!

Here with a suitcase in my hand
I walk the street to find a fortune teller
But when the future's in your palm
They read it like a book that lasts forever
Makes you run
One last train for the inner city
You I know are like the rest
You're holding on with all the best intentions
But tear the fabric off your nest
You'll find the eggs have gone
And no one mentions
How you run
One last train for the inner city
One last train for the inner city
Here in the sun
There on the sand
Falling like angels
You hold out your hand
Turn on
Hold out
We will be there
In the end
One last train for the inner city
One last train for the inner city
One last train for the inner city
Let's leave it all for the city
You're still young and so am I
The path will be shaded
We don't care we will get by
Pack your things don't wait for life to change
'Cause nothing will ever come from that
No nothing will ever come from that
Return the city glow
I'd like to find us both
We'll have a place to go
We'll have a place for home
Talk is cheap I admit it
The life out there will light up your eyes
Don't look back just say goodbye
Life's too short to wait for it to change
'Cause nothing will ever come from that
Return the city glow
I'd like to find us both
We'll have a place to go
We'll have a place for home
Reach out and touch the skyline
It's not that far 'cause now's the time
Reach out and touch the skyline
It's not that far 'cause now's the time
Think and take a change
Just step outside into the light
Your expectations so intense
No need to wait let's go tonight
Return the city glow
I'd like to find us both
We'll have a place to go
We'll have a place for home
We'll have a place to go
