The modern, private enterpriseeconomy of Belgium has capitalised on its central geographic location, highly developed transport network, and diversified industrial and commercial base. The first country to undergo an industrial revolution on the continent of Europe in the early 19th century, Belgium developed an excellent transportation infrastructure of ports, canals, railways, and highways to integrate its industry with that of its neighbors. Industry is concentrated mainly in the populous Flanders in the north, around Brussels and in the 2 biggest Walloon cities, Liège and Charleroi, along the sillon industriel. Belgium imports raw materials and semi-finished goods that are further processed and re-exported. Except for its coal, which is no longer economical to exploit, Belgium has virtually no natural resources. Nonetheless, most traditional industrial sectors are represented in the economy, including steel, textiles, refining, chemicals, food processing, pharmaceuticals, automobiles, electronics, and machinery fabrication. Despite the heavy industrial component, services account for 74.9% of GDP, while agriculture accounts for only 1% of GDP.
Belgium (i/ˈbɛldʒəm/BEL-jəm), officially the Kingdom of Belgium, is a federalstate in Western Europe. It is a founding member of the European Union and hosts the EU's headquarters, and those of several other major international organisations such as NATO. Belgium covers an area of 30,528 square kilometres (11,787 sq mi), and it has a population of about 11 million people. Straddling the cultural boundary between Germanic and Latin Europe, Belgium is home to two main linguistic groups, the Dutch-speakers, mostly Flemish (about 60%), and the French-speakers, mostly Walloons (about 40%), plus a small group of German-speakers. Belgium's two largest regions are the Dutch-speaking region of Flanders in the north and the French-speaking southern region of Wallonia. The Brussels-Capital Region, officially bilingual, is a mostly French-speaking enclave within the Flemish Region. A German-speaking Community exists in eastern Wallonia. Belgium's linguistic diversity and related political conflicts are reflected in the political history and a complex system of government.

A Waterlooi csata 200.

http://www.euronews.com/2013/09/18/belgium-looks-to-cut-debt-with-bnp-stake-part-sale
Belgium is reportedly considering selling part of its 10.3 percent holding in French bank BNP Paribas.
The government of Prime Minister Elio di Rupo has to raise money to cut its debt below 100 percent of annual economic output, as agreed with the European Commission.
The country's stake in France's biggest bank is worth around 6.3 billion-euros.
It is a legacy of the bailout of Belgian financial group Fortis, which was taken over by BNP as part of a state-backed rescue.
If it sold the shares now it would suffer a loss as they are trading at around 50 euros, below the 68 euro purchase price.
That is despite a rebound in European bank stocks, in which BNP Paribas's shares have risen almost threefold from their 2011 lows.
"At current market levels the loss for the Belgian state would be acceptable ... It is plausible that they are really looking for a way to sell this stake," said Yohan Salleron, fund manager at Mandarine Gestion, which owns BNP shares.
"A logical outcome would be for BNP to buy back the shares ... That would be the best thing for the shareholders."
The Belgian prime minister's office declined to comment and BNP Paribas declined to comment.

Brussels Airlines Airbus A319 Economy Class flight review to Krakow Airport - OO-SSI
This is a flight review of our Brussels Airlines Economy Class flight from Brussels Airport (BRU) to Krakow Airport KRK onboard a Brussels Airlines Airbus A319. We had flown into Brussels from Copenhagen and this was our connection flight to Krakow. Our flight departed from Gate 49 in concourse A. This was the same concourse our flight from Copenhagen Airport arrived in. Our Brusssels Airlines flight footage includes some short footage of Brussels airport, boarding from our gate, walking onto our aircraft (Airbus A319), pushback, takeoff, onboard cabin views, outdoor flight views, passenger cabin information including inflight meals, inflight drinks (or the lack of them) before we begin our descent and final approach towards Krakow Airport (John Paul II International Airport Kraków–Balice). The viewer then gets a view of our landing, some of the aircraft´s taxiing at the airport before rain makes it difficult to see out of the window (pity because there were many Polish Airforce planes lined up at the airport). We then include our tarmac disembarkation of our flight from the aircrafts rear door. We are them met by a bus which drives us to the airport arrivals terminal. The footage ends with some views of the baggage claim area before we round off with the arrivals area at Krakow Airport. Krakow Airport is currently undergoing a major modernisation.
The Brussels Airlines Airbus A319 (Airbus A319-112) we flew with had aircraft registration OO-SSI. This aircraft had her first flight in April 2009 and joined the Brussels Airlines fleet in March 2015. Prior to this the aircraft has also been operated by Hamburg International, Olympic Air and Aegean Airlines.
Wiki writes about Brussels Airlines, "Brussels Airlines is the flag carrier and largest airline of Belgium based and headquartered at Brussels Airport. It operates to over 75 destinations in Europe, North America and Africa and also offers additional charter services, maintenance and crew training. The airline is a member of the Star Alliance as well as the International Air Transport Association and the Association of European Airlines. The airline's IATA code SN is inherited from its predecessors, Sabena and SN Brussels Airlines..."
Wiki writes about the Airbus A320 family, "The Airbus A320 family consists of short- to medium-range, narrow-body, commercial passenger twin-engine jet airliners manufactured by Airbus. The family includes the A318, A319, A320 and A321, as well as the ACJ business jet. The A320s are also named A320ceo (current engine option) after the introduction of the A320neo. Final assembly of the family in Europe takes place in Toulouse, France, and Hamburg, Germany. Starting in 2009, a plant in Tianjin, China, has also been producing aircraft for Chinese airlines. In April 2013, Airbus started construction of a new production facility for the A319, A320, and A321 variants in Mobile, Alabama. The aircraft family can accommodate up to 220 passengers and has a range of 3,100 to 12,000 km (1,700 to 6,500 nmi), depending on model....".
Wiki writes about Brussels Airport, "Brussels Airport (IATA: BRU, ICAO: EBBR) (also called Brussel Nationaal/Bruxelles-National/Brussel-Zaventem (Brussels National)) is an international airport 6 NM (11 km; 6.9 mi) northeast of Brussels, the capital of Belgium. In 2014, almost 22 million passengers arrived or departed at Brussels Airport, making it the 23rd busiest airport in Europe. It is located partially in Zaventem, partially in the Diegem area of Machelen, and partially in Steenokkerzeel, in the Flemish Region of Belgium..."
Wiki writes about Krakow Airport, "John Paul II International Airport Kraków–Balice (Polish: Kraków Airport im. Jana Pawła II since 4 September 2007; earlier in Polish: Międzynarodowy Port Lotniczy im. Jana Pawła II Kraków–Balice) (IATA: KRK, ICAO: EPKK) is an international airport located near Kraków, in the village of Balice, 11 km (6.8 mi) west of the city centre, in southern Poland..."
This Brussels Airlines flight review footage is filmed at Brussels Airport concourse A (BRU) inside a Brussels Airlines Airbus A319 and at Krakow Airport (KRK).

Nem akar 2 eurós Waterlooi emlékérmét Franciaország - economy
A Waterlooi csata 200.

Gunter Pauli has a dream. The Belgian economist and entrepreneur has a plan to develop 100 manufacturing innovations with viable business models that could generate 100 million jobs in 10 years. All with zero emissions and no waste.
He calls it "The Blue Economy" with innovations covering the full gamut of industrial activity, from energy to mining, from medicine to banking... all of it inspired by science and biometrics. And Pauli isn't all talk... there's plenty of action in the many startup-style projects around the globe funded by his organisation Zero Emissions Research and Initiative, which is now a global network.
Memorable achievements include recycling coffee waste for mushroom farming, making biodegradable detergent from discarded citrus peel, and the conversion of petrol stations into 'charge stations' for electric cars.
His talk at Sydney University for Sydney Ideas is titled: "The Blue Economy: 10 Years, 100 Innovations, 100 Million Jobs".
ASPO-Australia's Ian Dunlop makes an appearance on this video, assisting with the Q&A; session towards the end of the talk.
--------------------------------------------
Gunter Pauli was born in Antwerp, Belgium. His entrepreneurial activities span business, culture, science, politics and the environment. He founded Zero Emissions Research Initiative (ZERI) and the subsequent Global ZERI Network which uses science and publicly available information to find and develop sustainable business solutions.
Serving clients from remote communities to major corporations, solutions are inspired by what is locally available, building on local knowledge and culture. Pauli has been visiting lecturer and professor at universities around the world, and a board member of NGOs and private companies in Asia, USA and Latin America.
Since 2009, he has taken responsibility for the design of an economic development concept based on GNH (Gross National Happiness) principles and values as part of his advisory role in designing an economic development strategy for Bhutan.
Pauli has published 19 books and 36 fables bringing science and emotions to children. He is fluent in seven languages and has lived in four continents.
