Rural areas or the country or countryside are areas of land that are not urbanized, though when large areas are described, country towns and smaller cities will be included. They have a low population density, and typically much of the land is devoted to agriculture and there may be less air and water pollution than in an urban area. The degree to which areas of wilderness are included in the term varies; very large wilderness areas are not likely to be described by the term in most contexts.
In most parts of the world rural areas have been declining since the 19th century or earlier, both as a proportion of land area, and in terms of the proportion of the population living in them. Urbanization encroaches on rural land, and the mechanization of agriculture has reduced the number of workers needed to work the land, while alternative employment is typically easier to obtain in cities. In parts of the developed world urban sprawl has greatly reduced the areas that can be called rural, and land use planning measures are used to protect the character of rural areas in various ways.
I think I've seen your silhouette
Up in the stars
I think I've got an autograph
Penned on my heart
I think I've yet to understand
Who you are
Lookin' for the answers
but can't see for the dark.
And they call it a halo
They call it what they want
And they call it a savior but I don't know what it was
I think I've found your residence
Over the clouds
I think I'm plenty confident
To say it aloud
I'm sorry for the wrong I've done
Don't mean you to frown
I'm lookin' for the answers
But there's none to be found
And they call it a halo
They call it what they want
And they call it a savior but I don't know what it was
And they call it a halo
they call it what they want
And they call it a savior but I don't know what it was
And I lift up my eyes to the one who shines the most
And I lift up my eyes to the one who shines
And I lift up my eyes to the one who shines the most
it's the threat of the century
and I need to ly down
treading ever so gingerly
trying to find ground
'cause you know when you walk so long
in your head it feels oh so wrong
we're not alone
we're not alone
at the end
at the end of these long roads
we will gather there
with our hands in the air
in my mind it's a symphony
in which I rely
to get me through this epiphany
and to keep me up ... (?)
'cause you know when the beat is wrong
simple timing can be so hard
we're not alone
at the end
at the end of these long roads
we will gather there
Never been able to read the words
Written down on the page
Could you write them on the wall
Could you write them on my face
Never been able to walk the path
Drawn out on that ancient map
Could you draw it on my heart
Could you draw it
Tell me when you go
Can I follow you
Tell me when you go
Can I follow you
Oh oh oh
Never knew what words to say
Till I saw your lovely face
Could you leave a photograph
So this feeling ever lasts
Never knew that I could be
Superficial plastic me
Could you like me as I am
Tell me do you like me
Tell me when you go
Can I follow you
Tell me when you go
Can I follow you
Tell me when you go(-oh-oh)
Can I follow you
Tell me when you go(-oh-oh)
Can I follow you
Oh oh oh
Tell me when you go(-oh-oh)
Can I follow you
Tell me when you go(-oh-oh)
Can I follow you
Oh oh oh
Would we even have known you weren't it for the stars
Would we even have known you weren't it for the stars
Would we even have known you weren't it for the stars
Would we even have known you
I keep on trying to find which way to turn my mind
You tell me where I could find
You tell me look way up high
And when I look to the sky I swear I see all your footprints
Would we even have known you weren't it for the stars
Would we even have known you weren't it for the stars
Would we even have known you weren't it for the stars
Would we even have known you
I keep my eye on the time
I keep my mind on the day
Where it is you will arrive
Where it is you be staying
And when I look to the sky I swear I see all your footprints
And when I look to the sky I swear I see them all falling down (with me)
Would we even have known you weren't it for the stars
Would we even have known you weren't it for the stars
Would we even have known you weren't it for the stars
Would we even have known you
Would we even have known you weren't it for the stars
Would we even have known you weren't it for the stars
Would we even have known you weren't it for the stars
Would we even have known you
Would we even have known you weren't it for the stars
Would we even have known you
Would we even have known you
Would we even have known you weren't it for the stars
Would we even have known you
Something to write home about
Something to inform(?) with no doubt
All the folks back home
Something you can take with you
Something you will find etched in stone
Known it all along
And there's no need asking
Cuz you know
And there's no more wanting
Cuz you owe
It's better that upon reading
Better than a card painted gold
Picture in a hole
Better than a reputation
Better than a house
You can see from the road
And there's no need asking
Cuz you know
And there's no more wanting
Cuz you owe
And the glow like gold mine
And the moon like a sunrise
If we hold it up to our eyes
We can see, we can see so clearly
And the glow like a goldmine
(And there's no need asking)
And the moon like a sunrise
(And there's no more wanting)
And the glow like a goldmine
(And there's no need)
And the moon like a sunrise
(And there's no more)
And the glow like a goldmine
(And there's no need)
And the moon like a sunrise
It's a lunacy to believe
That a single man would give his life for me
With my photograph on his mind
Could it be? Is it true or lunacy?
Could it be? Is it true or lunacy?
Is it possible to believe
In a force that covers mountains with the sea
Clearing obstacles I cannot climb
Could it be? Is it true or lunacy?
Could it be? Is it true or lunacy?
Is it reasonable to believe
In a narrow path not every eye will see?
Is it fair that all the rest will die with fire?
Could it be? Is it true or lunacy?
Could it be? Is it true or lunacy?
Could it be? Is it true or lunacy?
Oh, I will follow you
Even in the darkness
for you're true
Oh, I will follow you
Walking in the light
You've called me to
'Cause I, I love your name
It is like honey on my mouth, my love
Oh I, I love your ways
They are so beautiful to me, my love
Oh, I will trust in you
Offer up my life to be near you
Oh, I willt trust in you
I will cast my every care on you
Oh, I believe in you
I believe your every word is true
Oh, I believe in you
I will give my life, my love to you
'Cause I, I love your name
It is like honey on my mouth, my love
Oh I, I love your ways
They are so beautiful to me, my love
Even in the darkness
Know you're true
Even in the darkness
Know you're true
('Cause I, I love your name
It is like honey on my mouth, my love)
Even in the darkness
Know you're true
Even in the darkness
Know you're true
(Oh I, I love your ways
They are so beautiful to me, my love)
Even in the darkness
Know you're true
Even in the darkness
Know you're true
('Cause I, I love your name
It is like honey on my mouth, my love)
Even in the darkness
Know you're true
Even in the darkness
Know you're true
(Oh I, I love your ways
They are so beautiful to me, my love)
Even in the darkness
Know you're true
Even in the darkness
Know you're true
Even in the darkness
Know you're true
Even in the darkness
Too much weight put on silver things
Too many tears dropped into the sea
Too much time fearing hurricanes
Too much confidence put in gravity
With my face pressed into the air
With my eyes pointed who knows where
Here I am where I'm supposed to be
But I don't see what I'm supposed to see
All you are
All you are
All you are
All you are
All you are
All you are
If I tell you that I do believe
Would you tell me that I'm ill-perceived (?)
Too much gravity up in my (....)
Too much vanity I must have sowed
To the people that surround me
To the face of curiosity
Here I am where I'm supposed to be
But I don't see what I'm supposed to see
All you are
All you are
All you are
All you are
All you are
All you are
Too much weight put on silver things
Too many tears dropped into the sea
Too much time fearing hurricanes
And right before my single eye
You laid down flat a plan of fight
We reach for arms below our chairs
And aim straight up into the air
I've heard it all before and learned to ignore
I wanted so much more than they intended for
And it took my heart
Knocked back to the start
I could not doubt you if I tried
You've stuck it out through every night
We map out every inch of it
We have a strategy that wins
I've heard it all before and learned to ignore
I wanted so much more than they intended for
And it took my heart
Knocked back to the start
Everbody's wandering
Turning off the road
You can hear wheels spinning
On the search for where to go
Oooh, Oooh, Oooh
Civilizers, cavemen
Each man for their own
Cigarettes and cravings
Are found in every home
Oooh, Oooh, Oooh
Everybody's lost, they don't know where to go
And everybody's trying to find another road
Everybody's lost
No one knows the road
Parachutes and lifeboats
Line the corridors
Hand grenades and shotguns
Got to throw 'em at their foes
Oooh, Oooh, Oooh (Everybody's lost
No one knows the road)
Everybody's lost, they don't know where to go
I go on with this melody
Tryin' to moan in my head
I tuck into my pillow tight
With the beat in my chest
And it goes on and on
On and on
On and on
On and on
On and on
On and on
On and on
On and on
Tryin' to catch in a photograph
But it looks over exposed
Track it down and it disappears
I keep chasing after ghosts
And it goes on and on
On and on
On and on
On and on
On and on
On and on
On and on
On and on
Oh so still
I'm walking forward hoping that I'll last until
Oh so still
I'm moving forward trusting that I'll be fulfilled
I can't help but acknowledge it
Even though it hardly shows
I must admit I am terrified
I am losing all control
And it goes
Paint it now, paint it inside out
On a telephone wire
Lay it out for me alphabetically
'Cause I haven't got the time
To go sifting through
All that we've been through
And to put it all in line
But I'm here with you and I'm trying
To recalibrate my mind
Blame it on my eye, on my eye [x2]
Tell me how I can turn this around
'Cause I'm looking for a change
Give me just a clue, just a glimpse into
What it is you'd like to say
Of this labyrinth I've been crawling through
For what seems like such an age
But I'm here with you and I'm trying
To negotiate the way
Many years spent living low
Many years spent living low
Inside a crater hole
Thinking what else could go wrong
Since we're living at the lowest
With the damage done
All we knew when we were young
Was how to manage on a planet
Full of crater holes
Almost everybody knows
How difficult it is to find a footing
And it rained down on the lawn
We swore those stones were from above
And we waited on the storm
To close but it continued on
Truth and time walk hand in hand
We spent our time searching out
A hidden promise land
Carving gouges in our tread
We soon noticed that
Those holes were everywhere
It rained down on the lawn
We swore those stones were from above
And we waited on the storm
To close but it continued on
It continued on
It continued on
And it rained down on the lawn
We swore those stones were from above
And we waited on the storm
To close but it continued on
[x2]
I was a little boy, I was a little child
I did not dress my own, you covered me in white
Before you sent me out told me where not to go
You'd pack my lunch and say God bless you on the road
When I was on my own, I wandered far from home
There were the wildest beasts, they'd strip you to the bone
But they did not want me, I smelled too much of home
So then I moved along, I guess I'm meant to roam
I took around the bend and came across a town
The people made of stone, the only folks around
I couldn't understand why such a lovely world
Could tolerate a crowd that didn't love their own
So many years have passed from stepping on the road
Still haven't got a clue of what is food or foe
If you could find the time, come catch me up in June
Lay me down neither lost nor found
I resign to be halfway blind
Let me find when you deem it right
I will climb to the highest height
I will go to find you there
If in the middle of the night
I will travel distances
Until that everything is right
If it be when it comes to me
I was wrong when i could not see
If in time that my eye survives
Grew up in a maze where i was afraid of the moon
And in the haze of youth i went along to look for you
And it was miles and miles
Miles and miles of twist and curve
And it was days and days
Days and days with no stone left unturned
And in my younger years i thought i had for myself
An answer for everything at ready given me to help
And in the wilderness i often ran like hell
caught in the tide caught in a slide
hoping that i will learn to survive
eye on the time as it goes by
losing the light fading the lines
if you would be my guide to an escape
if you would be my guide we'd be alright
clawing the gates of every estate
there on my way until i find your place
confusing my brain all of the ways
on a foreign night we spoke
telling stories of what it would be like when we got back home
in the fading light we hoped
that as we grew old those memories would never let us go
when we're together we survive to stick it out another night of waiting
we dream together to survive to stick it out another night of waiting
crossing borders is all we know
marking up a map, the passage that we're taking as we go
all the buildings made of stone
And in a moment and in one instant
I throw the whole of it away
And in a moment and in one instant
I throw the whole of it away
And you could not imagine all the damage
I would do if there were more time.
Because the rubble left behind me
Is only guilty of being in my flight line
And in the morning and when I'm waking
I try to start a brand new day
And in the morning and when I'm waking
I try to start a brand new day
And even I could not imagine
All the innocent that I would take down
Because the rubble left behind me
Is only guilty of being in my flight line
And after moving and in my leaving
I feel the pain of my mistake
And after moving and in my leaving
I feel the pain of my mistake
And we were beautiful together
Until selfishly I tore it all down
Because the rubble left behind me
The road ahead is difficult indeed
We'll go on alright we'll go on alright
Though it's painful to let go so many things
We'll go on alright we'll go on alright
Painting images we're petrified to leave
We'll go on alright we'll go on alright
When nostalgia gets the better part of me
We'll go on alright we'll go on alright
There's an awful lot of history between us
We'll go on alright we'll go on alright
There's an awful lot of history in our tears
Would you mind would you mind
To take with me some time tonight
To get me standing on two feet
To get me postured upright
To these blacked out eyes to see
What they were too black to see
Would you mind would you mind
Would you dare would you dare
Pretend to know me when I stare
When I'm sleeping point at me
Point your finger directly
Pen it down as if were true
All that you accuse
Would you dare would you dare
Would you see would you see
That my mind's occupied with fearing
I keep a tight grip on the feeling
That keeps me from healing
Big ideas that fall too short
They fall right through my ceiling
Would you see would you see
