A young Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip visit Fiji in the South Pacific where they receive a traditional welcome from its people. A one funnelled ocean liner at sea surrounded by wooden sailed boats or rafts possibly catamarans. A battery of artillery guns fire a salute manned by soldiers in red shirts and white skirts. Launch heads towards the pier with waiting soldier in traditional uniform. "The Royal couple are greetd by the Governor." Launch at the quayside - Queen Elizabeth, Prince Phillip and their entourage disembark and climb stairs with probably the Governor in white uniform and a white feathered pith helmet. "The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh arrive at Albert Park for Fijian ceremonies of welcome." The Queen, dresed in a pale yellow dress, and Prince Phillip, in white military uniform, descend a few steps to a path flanked by military personnel - a crowd of local onlookers watch in the distance. Sitting on a raised platform and shielded from the sun by a roof, the Queen is presented with an object from a native woman whilst her entourage watches. A group of native men dressed in traditional outfits - green and orange skirts, bare feet and possible tribal jewellery and face paint - dance in a field in unison with a somewhat aggressive tone, stamping their feet and holding clubs above their heads. The male dancers spin 360 degrees before stopping in a pose. The Queen watches the proceedings whilst the Governor sits at her side. A line of over 20 local women dance in a uniform and gentle manner, slowly moving their arms in a flowing motion - they are wearing orange shirts and grass skirts. The male dancers perform what is possibly a tribal war dance, using their spears in the choreographed moves. The dancers split into two groups whilst a large crowd watch from behind. The Queen and Prince descend the stairs of the platform. "The Royal Party's drive to Adi Cakobau, a school for Fijian girls." The camera is inside a motor vehicle as it moves up a concrete road lined with locals and the occassional policeman dressed in khaki uniform, whilst red and white flags stretch along wire between the buildings on either side of the road. Many flags of several nations wave frantically in the wind, outstretched on wire against the blue sky. The Royal car drives slowly into the forecourt of a building - the back of the car has its roof open and the Queen shields herself from the sun with a parasol, whilst the Prince, now dressed in civilian clothes, removes his sunglasses. In front of a large grass hut, the Queen talks to a native woman whilst young girls in traditional and Western dress sit either side. The Queen is directed by a European woman into a white wooden building. Outside, the Queen exchanges smiles wth the local people as she walks past. Two children sit on woven matting, creating decorative items from sheaves of corn. The Queen walks up a slight hill. A close-up of the Queen as she continues her walk.
