A Slideshow/Video showing pictures taken during a recent trip to West Pokot in Kenya. Students from both the Marich Early Childhood Development and Primary School and the school overlooking the Turkwell Dam were visited and the students from both schools made us all extremely welcome. I think that the pictures tell the tale but I feel that if the eyes of the students could relate stories of their lives and experiences we would be astounded by what we hear. The students come from an impoverished area of Kenya where education is a privilege and it is hard for the parents to raise the money (£1 per month) needed to put them through schooling. We need to spend time reflecting on our own lives and to realise how extremely lucky we are . We are so much better off than all the children that we met yet they were grateful for the little we gave them and in many cases it was just our friendship. Personally I will never forget them and count the days until I can return to visit them.
