Getting Around Iraqi Kurdistan: Taxi, Bus, and Private Car Hire. If you are mainly interested in staying in a city, taxi is reliable and good value for money. An average charge within a city drive is 2 dollers, as for the Bus it is definitely cheaper. To hire a car with or without driver could be the option for you. You can have your own chauffeur at your disposal throughout your stay. This will offer you the choice to travel short or long distances. A local driver has the knowledge and will advise you throughout your visit. Where to Visit Erbil city is the capital of Kurdistan Region Government, the oldest city with continuous residentially. This city is regarded as one of the most deep-rooted Governorate in the area, its history begins before A.D. The city was established 6000 prior to A.D. The name of Erbil city has been found in the Somarian transcripts. The city was the main station for The God Ashtar which was the main goddess which was worshiped at that era. The city is a key element for eastern part and Kurdistan Region defining. Geographical Data: Erbil city is located east to Sulaymanyah Governorate and it is only 350 km from Baghdad. The city is surrounded by Nineveh from west and Kirkuk city from east and Iran and Turkey from North. There are two Museum, Erbil citadel museum, which is located in the citadel. It contains about 40 antique parts and anc-ient heritages. The second one is Erbil museum which includes about 5000 ancient parts, which deep-rooted in the history. Sulaimani City, One of the major cities in both Kurdistan region and Iraq, situated 385 Km north Baghdad and 198 Km north east Erbil the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan Region. The city sits between two chains of mountains (Goyzha & Glazarda), The city was founded by Ibrahim Pasha in the year 1784. Today Sulaimani has developed in most modern life aspects, hotels, motels, supermarkets & Malls, theatres, restaurants & Parks. From the cultural perspective, Sulaimani is considered to be the capital of Kurdish culture, the famous old Saray situates at the center of the city, while many museums are distributed. Sulaimani Embrace several universities & Educational Institutions both Public & Private, in addition to the American University. Duhok City is the center of Duhok prefecture (governorate) one of main cities in Kurdistan Region. It situates north Iraq, close to both Syrian & Turkish borders. Duhok city is on plane ground between 2 mountain chains, Shandukha from the south and Spi from the north, while mountain Seen stands on the east. On the west side a plane area could be seen with a tourism environment. The majority of citizens are Kurds; they live peacefully with Chaldean, Assyrian, Armenian and Yazidi minorities. Duhok city is famous with historical sites in which sculptures could be seen on the rocks. Yazidic cultural museum, playground for kids, small zoo. The city embraces Duhok University and many cultural centers. Some most important tourist sites inside the city include Masjed Haj Ahmad considered to be the the biggest Masjed of Duhok and Mart Alaha Church the oldest church in Duhok Kalar, is the administrative center of Garmyan district. It lies 140 Km southeast of Sulaimani prefecture and 30 Km from the Iranian border. Kalar consists of 27 quarters of a population of about 250,000 residents. Kalar is located on a large plain area embracing many historical sites related to different periods; BC, AD, and Islamic periods. Shirwana Citadel, Pasha Citadel and Christian Canal are examples of AD historical sites. In winter, temperatures may reach 2˚C. One of the 49 hostages from Turkey’s consulate in Mosul has broken the silence about the details of their 101 days of incarceration at the hands of jihadist militants, noting that personnel were powerless to resist the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) from seizing their mission. Around 500 to 1,000 ISIL militants suddenly seized the consulate on June 11, using a Turkmen translator to demand that they exit the compound, Commercial Attaché Mehmet Argüç told the Hürriyet Daily News. Militants subsequently disarmed the Turkish security staff after personnel quickly discussed the matter with the Foreign Ministry in Ankara, Argüç said, adding that there was initially a belief that ISIL would not attack the Turkish consulate. One of the ISIL militants seizing the consulate was a local Turkmen company official who had visited his office in the consulate at least five or 10 times, he said. “We were destroying the documents. One day before the attack we wanted to evacuate the building, but the consulate said the militants could surround it and would not let us go. He told us ISIL would not do anything against us,” Argüç said. ISIL fighters took the hostages to a hospital in the July 17 district of Mosul. Consular staff demanded to go to a mosque to pray, which was welcomed by the fighters. “The local [ISIL] governor visited us on the fifth day of the abduction. He was young and wore a turban. ‘I studied in four universities,’ he told us and then started to interrogate us on our religious backgrounds. They had perceived us as blasphemers, but then they realized that we pray and read the Quran,” Argüç said. Day by day, the fighters came to sympathize with the Turkish hostages, even trying to act in a warmer way, he also said, adding that the basic needs of the captives were met, including diapers and baby food for two babies that were among the captives. Later, most of the hostages began to fast with the beginning of Ramadan. More good news came toward the end of the holy month, as the militants said they would be freed at Eid al-Fitr. “We were bursting with happiness. We boarded two buses. But, then I saw that the vehicle turned the way to Dohuk. We got demoralized. Then they locked us in a school,” Argüç said. Communication on phone The hostages were moved eight times in Mosul during the 101 days of captivity. The militants, however, were very afraid that the Iraqi army’s bombardment of the city would kill the hostages during one of the moves. Argün said the Turkish hostages, including the consul general, had phone conversations with Turkey and their whereabouts were determined by Iraqi authorities due to those talks. The Iraqi army launched air strikes on areas near the houses where the hostages were kept, he said. “The militants said [then-Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri] al-Maliki and Iran wanted to kill us and they pledged that they would not let them harm us,” he said. A couple of times the hostages barely survived airstrikes by the Iraqi army, which once bombarded four meters away of the house. Two ISIL militants were killed, while the hostages’ room was destroyed, causing slight injuries to the Turkish citizens, he said. After the airstrike, ISIL fighters fettered, blindfolded and put handcuffs on the hostages while transferring them to a more secure house, Argüç said, noting that the Mosul governor was then sorry for that behavior. The militants told us they were trying to secure the road. We were angry, thinking they were all liars,” Argüç said. But 10 days later a Turkmen among the jihadist group whispered that next day they would go back to Turkey. However, an air attack on an agriculture compound in the district delayed their freedom one more day. On Sept. 19, the hostages were loaded onto buses and departed for Raqqa in Syria. The entire road was secured by ISIL militants, and there was no sign of airstrikes on that day, Argüç said.

Angelina Jolie (
/dʒoʊˈliː/ joh-LEE, born Angelina Jolie Voight; June 4, 1975) is an American actress and director. She has received an Academy Award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and three Golden Globe Awards, and was named Hollywood's highest-paid actress by Forbes in 2009 and 2011. Jolie promotes humanitarian causes, and is noted for her work with refugees as a Special Envoy and former Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). She has been cited as the world's "most beautiful" woman, a title for which she has received substantial media attention.
Jolie made her screen debut as a child alongside her father Jon Voight in Lookin' to Get Out (1982), but her film career began in earnest a decade later with the low-budget production Cyborg 2 (1993). Her first leading role in a major film was in the cyber-thriller Hackers (1995). She starred in the critically acclaimed biographical television films George Wallace (1997) and Gia (1998), and won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the drama Girl, Interrupted (1999).
