Poco is an Southern California country rock band originally formed by Richie Furay and Jim Messina following the demise of Buffalo Springfield in 1968. The title of their first album, Pickin' Up the Pieces, is a reference to the break-up of Buffalo Springfield. Highly influential and creative, they were pioneers of the country rock genre. Throughout the years Poco has performed in various groupings, and is still active today.
During recording of the third Buffalo Springfield album (Last Time Around), each of the three lead singers (Stephen Stills, Neil Young and Richie Furay) recorded songs without the other members present. One of Furay's solo songs was the country-influenced ballad "Kind Woman", which he recorded with the help of producer/engineer/bassist Jim Messina and pedal steel guitarist Rusty Young. When Buffalo Springfield then split up, Furay, Messina and Rusty Young decided to start their own group oriented toward such songs.
The original lineup of this new group was Furay (vocals and rhythm guitar), Messina (lead guitar, vocals, producer), Rusty Young (pedal steel guitar, banjo, Dobro, guitar, mandolin and vocals), George Grantham (drums and vocals) and Randy Meisner (bass and vocals). The group was signed to a recording contract with Epic Records, which acquired the rights to Furay from Atlantic Records (the Springfield's label) in return for the rights to Graham Nash from the Hollies (who was moving to Atlantic as part of Crosby, Stills & Nash). Originally, the new group was named "Pogo" after the famous comic strip character, but it had to change its name when Pogo creator Walt Kelly objected to their use of the name and threatened to sue. "Poco" in Spanish and Italian means "little" or "un-", as "poco importante", and is also a musical term meaning "a little" or "by small measures".

THE WILD WHITE STALLION (original print ad - all caps)
Fire was his spirit; man was his foe.
(J. Messina)
(lead vocal: Jimmy Messina)
When you're down, and feelin' low, and there ain't nobody, and no place to go
Don't feel alone, 'cause you have a friend, look within, look within
So many times, we go astray, and we need somebody to show us the way
Don't be afraid, 'cause you have a friend, look within, look within
Chorus:
Within every soul, there was left the seeds of need
As in the soil of the earth, they are concealed
Prayer is the rain, to make 'em grow
Water them well, and they shall yield
Don't feel sad, and don't be blue, there is somebody waitin' on you
Open your heart, 'cause you have a friend, look within, look within
(Solo)
(chorus)
So don't feel sad, and don't be blue, there is somebody waitin' on you
Open your heart, 'cause you have a friend, look within, look within
Look within, look within, open your heart, baby now look within
Open your heart, let that love light shine within
Open your heart, baby now look within
Open up, I said open up, open up and let that love light in... (to fade)

Oh the world has got its problems, they're comin' into view
And girl I know that we will surely do what we can do
But while we're in the midst of changing darkness into light
Gonna be beside you, to keep you warm at night
And I'll be lovin' you baby, lovin' you every minute of the day
Oh, now recently it's clear to me, what makes the world uptight
Is the lack of joy we have, for the love of what feels right
But you and I are makin' the change, along with all our friends
And it feels so good to let you know, for me it all begins
When I'm lovin' you baby, lovin' you every minute of the day
I'll be lovin' you baby, lovin' you every minute of the day
(Solo)
Ohh, jobs are gettin' fewer, and the rents are on the rise
When I look at what it costs to live, I can't believe my eyes
But you and I are not alone, the whole world is feelin' it too
And I'm gonna do the best I can, and while I'm here with you
I'll be lovin' you baby, lovin' you every minute of the day
I'll be lovin' you baby, lovin' you every minute of the day
Yeah, lovin' you, I'll be lovin' you baby, I'll be lovin' you every minute
(J. Messina)
(lead vocal: Jimmy Messina)
There are images around us, in everything we see
Some are real and some are fantasy
To the one who sees his vision, to the child who lives his dreams
You're the one to decide what you're gonna be
Chorus:
So give it your best, and don't worry about what some may say
Follow your dreams, it's really all that you can do
Give it your best, and remember that life is what you choose
Follow your dreams, and do what you love to do
There are places you'll remember, and times you may recall
Faces that refresh your memory
May the thoughts that you will picture, help you come to see
That you're the one to decide what you're gonna be
(chorus)
(Solo)
So give it your best, and don't worry about what some may say
Follow your dreams, it's really all that you can do
And give it your best, and remember that life is what you choose
Go on, follow your dreams and do it, follow your dreams and do it
Follow your dreams, and do what you love to do, what you love to do
I'm only human, I hope you keep it in mind, mmm
I make mistakes and I say some things I never should
But if you'll give it half a chance
I'll guarantee that our romance will be the everlasting kind
Oooh...
Chorus:
And if you'll give it half a chance
I'll guarantee that our romance will be the everlasting kind
Here until the end of time
(Solo)
People will tell you that it isn't what it seems
I can't pretend to understand their hidden schemes
(chorus)
When I need good lovin?
I always come home to you
You free my lifetime of the blues
Yes, I got that old time feelin?
Burnin? deep inside my soul
And I am yours and baby, I?m home
And it?s a good feelin? to know
It?s such a good feelin' to know
Oh, it?s a good feelin? to know
Somebody loves you
Colorado mountains
I can see your distant sky
You?re bringin? a tear of joy to my eyes
Yes, it?s a good feelin?
It?s such a good feelin' to know
Oh, it?s a good feelin?
Somebody loves you
When I need good lovin?
I always come home to you
You free my lifetime of the blues
Yes, I got that old time feelin?
Burnin? deep inside my soul
And I am yours, baby, I?m home
Good feeling
Good feeling
Good feeling
There's someone waitin'
When you need a love to last forever
Don't go runnin'
Just take this heart now, lover I surrender
You're the sun, the moon, the stars shinin'
You're the one there's no denyin'
Yeah, you've got me dancin' in the fallin' rain
I'm laughin' like a child again
Oh little darlin'
You know that you need no other lover
Hey I'm sayin'
I know that this feelin's like no other
You're the sun, the moon, the stars shinin'
You're the one there's no denyin'
Yeah, you've got me dancin' in the fallin' rain
I'm laughin' like a child again
Someone is waitin'
When you need a love to last forever
Don't go runnin'
Just take this heart now, lover I surrender
'Cause you're the sun, the moon, the stars shinin'
You're the one there's no denyin'
Yeah, you've got me dancin' in the fallin' rain
I'm laughin' like a child again
'Cause you're the sun, the moon, the stars shinin'
You're the one there's no denyin'
Yeah, you've got me dancin' in the fallin' rain
I'm laughin' like a child again
You're the sun, the moon, the stars shinin'
You're the one there's no denyin'
Bein' at most just a country boy, innocent and all
I turned my face away from the farm, on the city I'd call
Hey, what's doin' in the town of fortune and fame?
Bright lights a-glowin', I've come to make my name
You see, I've got my ol' guitar, I'm not a beggin' fool
I play this town and a thousand more
(God knows)
God knows I keep my cool
So what's missin'? I've given my word the best
And I'm downright grateful
For yeah, my life's been blessed
My, my, can't you see the warnin'
When the fires burn in hell you better pay
Oh, yeah, it's gonna get you in the mornin'
Now's your chance, you better get away
Stayed awake 'most all last night, just couldn't get to sleep
So many things sittin' on my brain, yes, I need a chance to think
But I've been told not to worry, everything's gonna be all right
Oh, mama, won't you tell me, why did I leave that night?
Seems like it's been ages ago now since I come to town
Ain't much changed, every face is the same
Oh, people just a-hangin' 'round
So I'm a-leavin' this mornin', gonna go back home today
And let me tell you, buddy, turn around if you're fixin' to stay
You better go on back today
My, my, can't you see the warnin'
When the fires burn in hell you better pay
Oh, yeah, it's gonna get you in the mornin'
Now's your chance you better get away
My my, can't you see the warnin'
When the fires burn in hell you better pay
Oh, yeah, it's gonna get you in the mornin'
Passing through I bring love to you
Let me see your smile
Though it seems so untrue, I'm standing
Right here beside you can I stay a while?
I been too long feeling kinda low
Help me to follow through from the start
'Cause I can't seem to find a way to go
Is it for me to know my mind?
In a place that holds no time
For a little while
'Cause soon we must part
Passing through I bring love to you
Let me see your smile
Though it seems so untrue, I'm standing
Right here beside you can I stay a while?
Firefly dance for you and I, and don't go
Leaving us hollow through from the start
'Cause moonlight don't seem right
When you're alone
Is it for you to know my mind?
With a hope that you might find
Me with you sometime but, soon we must part
Passing through I bring love to you
Let me see your smile
Though it seems so untrue, I'm standing
Dark as night, cold and lonely
Rides the horse that's known as only 'Thunder Road'
Icy fingers hold the reins
While hoofs come poundin' so insanely on and on
Eyes that dance like burnin' embers
All the county still remembers who you are
Did she love you like they say?
And did she really run away and leave you here?
Ride the wind tonight
You'll find her there
No more racin'
With the damp night air
Down the road to Whitman's Crossing
Underneath the widow blossoms soft and green
Covered by the crimson shawl
And hidden by the leaves that fall down to the ground
Midnight comes and midnight goes
In between the moonlight shadows veiled in tears
Ride the wind tonight
You'll find her there
No more racin'
With the damp night air
Ride the wind tonight
You'll find her there
No more racin'
With the damp night air
Oh, find the road
Going now down the road
And take you down from the road
Gotta [Incomprehensible]
Move and move [Incomprehensible]
Move me down from the road
Here it comes now
We'll stand and face each other somehow
Blue eyes don't cry
Hold on until the last goodbye
You know it's all
Part of the feeling that goes with the fall
And it looks like you win
And I lose but then love will come again
Send me no invitation
To your farewell
Don't need no inspiration
No wishin' well
Don't hang your head
Try to remember it's all been said
Turn and go on
Leave all the tears till after you've gone
Send me no invitation
To your farewell
Don't need no inspiration
No wishin' well
Send me no invitation
To your farewell
Don't need no inspiration
Underneath the silver moon
The moment never comes too soon
Waiting on a stranger's glance
He never even has a chance
'Cause somewhere in the darkest night
Hidden from the keenest sight
Just watching for the slightest move
He knows just what he's got to do
He's the dark of the moon
A hard heart breaker
Yeah, the Devil
They call widowmaker
Veil of darkness, veil of light
Cover him through all the night
Witches ring around the moon
Another soul is leaving soon
'Cause silently he waits alone
For someone he has never known
Holding in a tight embrace
Something that no man can face
He's the dark of the moon
A hard heart breaker
Yeah, the Devil
I hear tell it's far away
And no one goes there now
If we set our sights you know
We'll get there somehow
Come on darlin' let's
Take our chances we'll
Take them all the way and
Shoot for the moon
We'll shoot for the moon
Remember nights you blinked your eyes
And the moon winked back at you
Now it was not so distant then
If your aim was true
So come on darlin' let's
Take our chances we'll
Take them all the way and
Shoot for the moon
We'll shoot for the moon
Let's shoot for the moon
Let's throw our dreams together
And seal it with a kiss
There is no way we can miss
We'll shoot for the moon
Shoot for the moon
Let's shoot for the moon
We'll Shoot for the moon
I hear tell it's far away
There's an easy evenin' breeze
Movin' softly through the trees
I feel my head begin to reel
Can't explain the way I feel
Now the moonlight is fallin' around her
(Don't you know that?)
Tonight is the night for surrender
(Can't you see it comin' down?)
She's holdin' you spellbound, spellbound
She's got me hangin' by a heartbeat
Burnin' in the evening heat
She takes me there it leaves me breathless
Starry-eyed, satisfied
When you're burnin' the bridges behind you
(Don't you know that?)
Smoke can begin to blind you
(Can't you see it coming down?)
It's holdin' you spellbound, spellbound
Now the moonlight is fallin' around her
(Don't you know that?)
Tonight is the night for surrender
(Can't you see it comin' down?)
She's holdin' you spellbound, spellbound
No, no, no, spellbound
She's holdin' on to me
She's holdin' on it's true
She's holdin' on, she won't let go
Ooh, stealin', Colorado reelin'
Rocky Mountain breakdown
Bow to the fiddler, don't be slow
Smoke on the mountain, fire on the bow
Pick out the tune, we love to hear
Patch up the feeling's, mend all the fear
Oh, what a showdown, toe to toe
First one to holler, last one to go
Change your partners, clap your hands
Stomp your feet at the new barn dance
Ooh, stealin', Colorado reelin'
Roll along, roll on
Rose of Cimarron
Dusty days are gone
Rose of Cimarron
Shadows touch the sand
And look to see who's standin'
Waitin' at your window
Watchin' will they ever show?
And can you hear them calling?
You know they have fallen on
And campfire's cold and dark
That never see a spark burn bright
Roll along, roll on
Rose of Cimarron
Dusty days are gone
Rose of Cimarron
Trails that brought them home
Echo names they've known
Four days high and lonely
Comin' to you only
And you're the one they'd turn to
The only one they knew who'd do
All her best to be around
When the chips were down
Roll along, roll on
Rose of Cimarron
Dusty days are gone
Rose of Cimarron
Shadows touch the sand
And look to see who's standin'
Waitin' at your window
Watchin' will they ever show?
Roll along, roll on
Rose of Cimarron
Dusty days are gone
Rose of Cimarron
Roll along, roll on
Rose of Cimarron
Dusty days are gone
Rose of Cimarron
Hearts like yours belong
Following the dawn
Wrapped up in a song
You and I counting, desert stars and
Lovers, one by one
While mandolins and steel guitars
Help our love along
Who could show you, ever know you
Fall into my dream
Turn around and, them you are in
Cowboy boots and faded jeans
It's a sagebrush serenade
Sagebrush serenade
Sagebrush serenade
Sagebrush serenade
All around us, it surrounds us
Harmony is in the air
We could lose our hearts tonight and
Never even care
It's a sagebrush serenade
Sagebrush serenade
Sagebrush serenade
Sagebrush serenade
Sagebrush serenade
Sagebrush serenade
We dance the night away
While the guitars play
We'll blow your sails away
(Rusty Young)
Save A Corner Of Your Heart for me
Keep it for a rainy day
Just a little touch
You won't miss it much
Won't you save, save it for me
Well I'm not the kind who keeps track of time
Still I've seen the seasons change
It's such a subtle move, such a gentle groove
You don't feel it slip away
REPEAT CHORUS
Oh it can't be long we must carry on
There's so much we have to do
But every time I hear lovers whisper near
I will always think of you, won't you...
REPEAT CHORUS
BRIDGE:
Just toe the line for now
I'll get back there somehow
Give it a chance you'll see
REPEAT CHORUS
Well, there's just a little bit of magic
In the country music we're singin', so let's begin
We're bringin' you back down home where the folks are happy
Sittin' pickin' and grinnin', casually, you and me
We'll pick up the pieces, uh-huh
Somebody yelled out at me, country music and company
Kind of makes it in a Sunday afternoon
Picnic lunches of yesterday should still have a place in your heart today
Think it over 'cause we'll all be goin' home so soon
Well, there's just a little bit of magic
In the country music we're singin', so let's begin
We're bringin' you back down home where the folks are happy
Sittin' pickin' and grinnin', casually, you and me
We'll pick up the pieces, uh-huh
If ya had the time to stay would you sit yourself down and play
Country music, singin' songs that we both knew
Lord, I know that the day will come
When the both of us'll sit down and strum on our guitars
And you'll see I really have a lot like you
Oh, there's just a little bit of magic
In the country music we're singin', so let's begin
We're bringin' you back down home where the folks are happy
Sittin' pickin' and grinnin', casually, you and me
We'll pick up the pieces, uh-huh
Oh, there's just a little bit of magic
In the country music we're singin', so let's begin
We're bringin' you back down home where the folks are happy
Sittin' pickin' and grinnin', casually, you and me
Saturday feelin' like Sunday
And I really haven't made my way
A lost road
It's a blown up railroad
Got to find a new engineer today
And it's twice as hard on my stride
When I take a day and let it ride
Hello, how are you, how do you do?
Can you help me? Come jump in my shoes
You'll know the feelin' of me
Thinkin' about you
And you really haven't made your way
And ooh, it's a lost road
A blown up railroad
Got to find a new track, lay it down
Now delay
Welcome be the stranger
With a drivin' wheel all his own
Me, the rearranger
And I can't find home
Saturday feelin' like Sunday
And I really haven't made my way
A lost road
It's a blown up railroad
Got to find a new engineer today
And ooh, it's a lost road
A blown up railroad
Got to find a new track, lay it down
Get on down off your ladder, come out from the rain
Can't you see that there's no one to blame?
I got that feelin' that we're playin' the same old game
You better get on the run 'cause you know it's no fun
Restrain yourself
Can you tell me is it for certain or does it depend
Upon a feelin' that refuses to bend?
Victim of circumstance you'll say to the end
And you pay no mind you just watch it pass by
Restrain yourself
Till you can't restrain no more
Can you tell me why is it you sigh?
Is it because of a need you deny?
So come on up and deliver what you really know
Maybe discover what it feels like to grow
But you're just a mirror
Reflecting a show
Quiet on the scene now
Come out and take a bow
Don't restrain yourself
Restrain yourself
Till you can't restrain no more
Till you can't restrain no more
Restrain no more
(Restrain)
(Restrain)
Restrain no more
(Restrain)
No more
(Restrain)
In she comes a ridin' on a mornin' sunrise
I am left to believing all that is standing before my eyes
And I wonder, now I wonder
Would the sun have shone ever so brightly alone?
We been livin' all of our lives on the other side of the hill
Drifting on a golden wing and I can't wait to hear the smile
She can sing, she can sing
Take me through the day, steal my breath away
And we ride the countryside, take it high and wide
She brings crackers, cheese and wine, oh, they're gonna bust my side
She's got strawberries comin' by the dozen
Brown sugar and sweet cream set my mouth, set my mouth a buzzin'
Take my hand and run, take me down to the river blue
Throw a whisper to the wind that all you're sayin' is true
All you're sayin' is true
Ride the countryside, take me high and wide
Ride the countryside, take me high and wide
Though its true I'm living with
A travelling heart,
And it was yours you knew from the very start
And I have come to know your eyes
When they're hiding
Lost in the time that slowly cries,
Come on riding
And 8 to 5 living, it ain't a lot less than alive
Knowing there's a dream calling out of
Your window
And don't we really know when time
is moving slow
And we all go on to nowhere
And every hour to work you say, just wishing
Where have I gone today . well I've
Gone fishing
With the sun in my eyes ond burning up
The skies and the river just watches me run.
Well its true I'm living with a
travelling heart,
But it was yours you knew from the very start
And I have come to know your eyes
When they're hiding
Lost in the time that slowly cries,
"Come on riding" yeah yeah
And all the stories you can read in the city
Look real hard between the lines, do you
See me?
Well the heart in my hand is slowing me
Down again
And the river just a watches me run.
Well the heart in my hands seems to slow
Me down again
(Paul Cotton)
I've got my head up on the ceiling
And I can't see myself lookin' down
At a heartthat has no feelin'
And I could not care when you come around
I'm tryin' to find a way to tell you,
Oh, my woman, you got to leave
And leave my life and try to make do
To somebody who will believe
If they could see through you to all of your lies
And take some time and maybe realize
That it's over before it began
And you're leavin' to find another man, oh.
I've got my head up on the ceiling
And I can't see myself lookin' down
At a heartthat has no feelin'
And I could not care when you come around
And I could not care when you come around.
I lived in no holy house but the Grand Hotel
The back streets of this old town, I know so well
And I drunk of no holy wine, save muscatel
Now my friend, I've got to go, you tell everyone I know
I'm sayin' goodbye, bye, bye, Dallas, I can't stay
Should have been at the palace yesterday
Bye, bye, Dallas, got to go
And I remember when they told me so
Right now I'm wonderin' where the good times have gone
All the things I never loved when they was mine
Hot city and an empty pocket make a man think on
I've been livin' low so long, I gotta get back where I belong
I'm sayin' goodbye, bye, bye, Dallas, I can't stay
Should have been at the palace yesterday
Bye, bye, Dallas, got to go
And I remember when they told me so
I'm sayin' goodbye, bye, bye, Dallas, I can't stay
Should have been at the palace yesterday
Bye, bye, Dallas, got to go
And I remember when they told me so
Bye, bye, Dallas, I can't stay
Should have been at the palace yesterday
Bye, bye, Dallas, I can't stay
Should have been at the palace yesterday
Ain't no bother, it's understood
Livin' under cover don't do no good
Bye, bye, Dallas, I can't stay
Should have been at the palace yesterday
Ain't no bother, it's understood
Livin' under cover don't do no good
Tonight I'm gonna break away
Just you wait and see
I'll never be imprisoned by a faded memory
Just when I think I'm over her
This broken heart will mend
I hear her name and I have to cry
The tears come down again
It happens all the time, this crazy love of mine
Wraps around my heart, refusing to unwind
Crazy love
Count the stars in a summer sky
That fall without a sound
And then pretend that you can't hear
These teardrops comin' down
It happens all the time, this crazy love of mine
Wraps around my heart, refusing to unwind
Crazy love
Tonight I'm gonna break away
Just you wait and see
I'll never be imprisoned by a faded memory
It happens all the time, this crazy love of mine
Wraps around my heart, refusing to unwind
Crazy love
(Richie Furay)
I got a feeling about you, love who's fooling who
Crazy eyes I been a foolin' you
You sing songs about brass buttons and shiny silver shoes
Crazy eyes what had you to lose
Down among the South Caroline pines
You spent most of your lifetime in deep thought
Then changes come about and you find the time you spent
Wasn't quite reason for being bought
So now to be or not to be is the question...now
Crazy eyes don't you forget how
I'm used to seeing your face in the crowd and you thought you
Saw me
Crazy eyes blind as you can be
It's been a long time a-comin' and I have to carry on
It's been a long time a-comin' but now you're gone
Oh, look at me sittin', starin' at the rain
Knowin' the days that we once knew won't ever come again
Well it seems to strange to really be
So I pinch myself and I find oh, yeah, it's me
It's been a long time a-comin' and I have to carry on
It's been a long time a-comin' but now you're gone
And it's too late to turn, back all the clocks in town
It's too late to take the X from yesterday
Now the die is cast, nothin' happens in the past
So I'll think I'll take a walk out in the rain
Oh, here I go, walkin' down the street in time
I'm never knowin' though I'm tryin' to keep myself in rhyme
Just a while has now become too long
Consequently to you I can say, goodbye, so long, yeah
It's been a long time a-comin' and I have to carry on
It's been a long time a-comin' but now you've gone, you were gone right
And it's too late to turn, back all the clocks in town
It's too late to take the X from yesterday
Now the die is cast, nothin' happens in the past
So I'll think I'll take a walk out in the rain
Oh, here I go, walkin' down the street in time
Never knowin' though I'm tryin' to keep myself in rhyme
Just a while has now become too long
Consequently to you I can say, goodbye, so long, yeah
It's been a long time a-comin' and I have to carry on
It's been a long time a-comin' but now you're gone
(Richie Furay)
Go on, my little babe, and cry
Lay your head down, shut your eyes
Someday we'll make us realize
Things weren't really quite that bad
Think of all the things we had
Oh, I know
Sometimes we don't do things right
Lose our heads and start to fight
Over something small, something trite
Finally seeing in the end
Just how silly we have been
Couldn't be because I don't love you
It's foolish even thinkin' I don't try
Lovin' is a feelin' and I'm a-feelin' it too
Don't Let It Pass By
Monday morning could still be blue
Sleepy-eyed, about to lose
That morning always comes too soon
Finds me lyin' in my bed
Things half-done, some half-said
(Richie Furay)
Thought a girl was a girl and then
I found myself in love again.
Yes, I've been in love a time or two
But it never happened like it did with you.
Do you feel it, too?
Yea, my heart just went for, for a ride
Certain feelings you just can't hide
I thought I knew a thing or two
About the ways of the girls, ah,
but not like you.
Baby, do you feel it, too?
Please remember how
I feel about you.
Let me know right now
That I'm pleasing you
Thought a girl was a girl and then
I found myself in love again.
Yes, I've been in love a time or two
But it never happened like it did with you.
(Paul Cotton)
I've seen a picture from the Days Gone By
Lookin' worn and withered, I heard a lonely cry
Of what could have been
And what wasn't quite
Now I'm swearin' to the wind
We were doin' it right
Here in the night so far away from it all
Out of my sight, how far down did we fall
From grace created
Oh how we related
In the picture from the days
The Days Gone By
You were letting your friends get in the upper hand
I had to turn the other way
You could not understand
And now we're out on our own
You have to wonder what lasts
When all that's left to recognize
Is a scene from the past
Here in the night so far away from it all
Out of my sight, how far down did we fall
How far down did we fall
How far down did we fall
(In the Days Gone By)
(Rusty Young)
Standin' in the hurricane
Just to feel the midnight rain
It won't wash away the stain left on your heart
Starin' at a liar's moon
Hypnotized by your own gloom
Prayin' that the Daylight soon will rescue you
CHORUS:
Ah, she's callin' you
When will Daylight break through
Ah, she's beggin' you
Daylight, won't you come through
Daylight
Daylight
Another night what will you do
Caught between the sun and moon
Starin' out the window, when will Daylight come
And every moment moves so slow
Every move against the flow
Close your eyes and let it go, just let it go
REPEAT CHORUS
REPEAT CHORUS
(Skip Goodwin/Richie Furay)
It's been a long time a comin'
And I have to carry on
It's been a long time a comin'
But now you're gone
Oh, look at me
Sittin' starin' at the rain
Knowin' the days that we once new
Won't ever come again
Well it seems too strange to really be
So I pinch myself and I find
Whew, yeah, it's me
It's been a long time a comin'
And I have to carry on
It's been a long time a comin'
But now you're gone
And it's too late to turn
Back all the clocks in town
It's too late take the x
From yesterday
Now the die is cast
Nothin' happens in the past
So I think I'll take a walk
Out in the rain
Hmmm, here I go
Walkin' down a street in time
Never knowin' though I'm tryin' to keep myself in rhyme
Just a while has now become too long
Consequently to you I can say
Goodbye, So long, yeah!
It's been a long time a comin'
And I have to carry on
It's been a long time a comin'
But now you're gone
(Here we go Rust)
And it's too late to turn
Back all the clocks in town
It's too late to take the x
From yesterday
Now the die is cast
Nothin' happens in the past
So I think I'll take a walk
Out in the rain
Hmmm, here I go
Walkin' down a street in time
Never knowin' though I'm tryin' to keep myself in rhyme
Just a while has now become too long
Consequently to you I can say
Goodbye, So long, yeah!
It's been a long time a comin'
And I have to carry on
It's been a long time a comin'
But now you're gone
But now you're gone
But now you're gone
(Rusty Young)
Company's comin'
Come a-runnin'
Company's comin'
Don't you know
Company's comin'
Come a-runnin'
Company's comin'
Here we go
'Long about Saturday night
We'll be here all right
So come on over, here's our chance
To sit it down and strum along
And everybody comes to call
It don't matter at all
If they don't know how to pick a tune
A-rollin' with the girls all night
Company's comin'
Come a-runnin'
Company's comin'
Don't you know
Company's comin'
Come a-runnin'
Company's comin'
Here we go
Look who's got a rockin' chair
I'll bet you five dollars he's there
Fallin' asleep to any beat
He don't seem to even care
Folks come from miles around
Jumpin' up and jumpin' down
Carryin' of carrtin' on
Till the break of dawn
Company's comin'
Come a-runnin'
Company's comin'
Don't you know
Company's comin'
Come a-runnin'
Company's comin'
Here we go
Baby, you can see that it's a lie
What he said to you
Made you sad, kind of made me glad
'Cause I got the same from you
I ain't your fool, you'd better go away
Don't apologize
No words you'd say wouldn't be okay
I'm through listenin' to your lies
You thought I'd be here, you came back
You were so damn sure of yourself
But just look around, see it ain't so
You'd better start lookin' for help
So many times you stood and laughed at me
Now I'll take my turn
You've had your way up until today
I guess that it's time you learned
You thought I'd be here, you came back
You were so damn sure of yourself
But just look around, see it ain't so
You'd better start lookin' for help
Baby, you can see that it's a lie
What he said to you
Made you sad, kind of made me glad
'Cause I got the same from you
(Rusty Young)
What is it gonna be?
When the dust has settled
Will you clearly see
Down the road you're
Driftin; lost and caught in confusion
Waitin' for the day
You won't have to choose
Who can have their way
Without taking sides or
Goin', feelin' so bad
C'mon and take a stand
'Cause you're sure to fall
Sittin' on a fence
Don't you sit on a fence
Where should you begin?
Lookin' for an answer
How can you give in
When worry has you
Wishin', hopin', sayin' you don't know
Now it's up to you
Stand on what you feel or
Fall if you should lose
Nothin's ever certain
(Richie Furay)
Short Changed
I got to hand it to you
Bloodstained
My hands were tied 'cause of you
Can you feel the pulse of my soul drivin' you home
Isn't it lonely
Tryin' to think back over the times when my love was all
But you didn't know me
My friend
Your scheme was so well devised
Sufferin'
What was behind your disguise
Can you feel the pulse of my soul drivin' you home
Isn't it lonely
Tryin' to think back over the times when my love was all
And you didn't know me
Short Changed
I got to hand it to you
Bloodstained
My hands were tied 'cause of you
Can you feel the pulse of my soul drivin' you home
Isn't it lonely
Tryin' to think back over the times when my love was all
But you didn't know me
(Rusty Young)
Instrumental
Taking it easy
Wasting my time everywhere I go
Then you try to please me
Telling me things I already know
Think I'm going on a vacation
Slippin' on my shoes
Do I need an explanation
One that I can use?
But I know that it shows here I go
Skatin' oh
Skatin' over the water
Skatin' through my heart
Through my heart I go
I can't deny it
Giving is such an easy task
You just got to try it
'Stead of wondering what you're gonna ask
Outside my window, it's freezin'
And the day is new
Tell myself that I believe in
What I know ain't true
Yes I do know that it shows here I go
Skatin' oh
Skatin' over the water
Skatin' through my heart
Through my heart I go
What good does it do for me to say
You're going nowhere?
On the lake the ice will pave your way
Leave it all behind just to get there
Skatin' oh
Skatin' over the water
Skatin' through my heart
Through my heart I go
Skatin' oh
Skatin' over the water
Skatin'
(Timothy B. Schmit)
I can remember when I used to see you passin' by
And it seemed in vain when it never changed
'Cause the only thing we said was 'Hi'
Then out of nowhere
We got together
'Cause we didn't try
But then just as fast as it came to pass
I was alone again starin' at the sky
I've come to discover you've got to think it out on your own
and it takes some time for the words to rhyme
To really feel what you've always knows
And when you break through
You might even feel
As though you can fly
But when it all comes down I hope I'm around
And not alone again starin' at the sky
Wonderin' why
I can't let go cause I,
I think you really know your mind
If you could show me a sign
And keep me from goin' blind.
(Paul Cotton)
Well I'm Standing In The Fire again
Everybody knows I'm a workin' man
In some ways it's either sink or swim
These days I don't mind givin' in
You get but one chance to go 'round
And make the most of what I found
I'm Standing In The Fire again
Everybody knows I'm a workin' man
I've been out of work for such a long long time
Every day down in the factory line
Gettin' on some kind, any kind of good news
Only knowin' there's nothin' left to lose
You get but one chance to go round
And make the most of what I found
I get to work on time every single day
Till the robot takes my job away
You never get out of this worried life
I do what I can while I'm markin' time
I bet,walk away I'm on sacred ground
Long long way from this factory sound
I'm Standing In The Fire again
Everybody knows I'm a workin' man
In some ways it's either sink or swim
These days I don't mind givin' in
I'm Standing In The Fire again
I'm Standing In The Fire again
(Rusty Young)
Stealaway
My little darling
Far away
You and I
Lookin' at you and the way about you
Fallin' come easily
No one could ever guess we'd stand here
Lookin' to disagree
Where did it all go wrong?
It seems we had too many stars in our eyes
Now we are lookin' back to see
How many stars were lies
Stealaway
My little darling
Far away
You and I
Helplessly
Hangin' on
So darlin'
Stealaway
How did it get so damn confusin'?
Who cares who's wrong or right?
We gotta move out of all this darkness
To see a little light
Stealaway
My little darling
Far away
You and I
Helplessly
Hangin' on
So darlin'
(Tomothy B. Schmit/Noreen Schmit)
Here I sit in my room
Nobody here but me and a simple tune
Hope you roll on in with the risin' moon
I wanna stay with you all night
Wanna stay with you night until noon - yes I do
Sayin' nothin', but feelin' strong
I'm a pretend poet with half a song
Hope you keep your word, wanna see you soon
I wanna stay with you all night
Wanna stay with you night until noon
Baby can you stay - stay until the break of day
I wanna feel your body sway
We can let them say what they want to
They can talk themselves into shades of blue
Baby I got lots of room
Wanna stay with you night until noon
We can let them say what they want to
They can talk themselves into shades of blue
Baby I got lots of room
Wanna stay with you night until noon
And my sometime friends say ";Son' you better come around -
Get your feet back on the ground,
She's tryin' to fool ya...She only wants to do ya...";
Why are they so bent on bringing me down?
Here I'll sit and here I'll stay
And I'll be right here till you come my way
Someting's in the air - just about to bloom
I wanna stay with you all night
Wanna stay with you night until noon
Baby can you stay - stay until the break of day...
Stay...
(Richie Furay)
Sweet sweet love
Sweet sweet love
To light her way
Sun shinin' in the night
My newborn child
Oh my, sharin' her lovin' with me
I can see in her smile
Wordless are the thoughts
She's tryin' to say
Oh my, maybe she's seein' the light
Of a brighter day
So give her some lovin'
Sweet sweet love
Sweet sweet love
Sweet sweet love
To light her way
Tears runnin' down my face in ecstacy
Oh my, how we gave life to this child
Baby you and me
With the love we shared inside
She found her way
Oh my, you know it makes me feel
So much more for today
So give her some lovin'
Sweet sweet love
Sweet sweet love
Sweet sweet love
To light her way
Susannah there was peace between
our fathers
How we ceased lo be a bother
We would run together in the morning light
And separate until the cool of night
oh my Susannah
We can throw our dreams together
Though my other wing of feather
How can you stop the lightening,
In the sky and as the rains run red
One of the reasons why, oh my Susannah
It ain't safe to stay here any more
Got to load the wagon and head up north.
And rearrange their reasons in our minds
Keeping safe a way in the present times.
Keeping safe a way in the present times.
Susannah there was peace between
Our fathers
How we ceased to be a bother
We could run together in the morning light
And separate until the cool of night
Oh my Susannah, for me there ain't no other
I swear, I swear there ain't no other.
That won't stop the lightening in the sky
And as the rains run red,
One of the reasons why . . Oh yeah you're
the light in the southern Sky, Susannah
(Richie Furay)
Today my First Love has arrived
Did you see her? Did you approve?
What if I asked this of you?
Would everything you'd say be true?
When I was young I played with toys
Games were small then, not so involved
My toys meant most of all
You know how kids are when they're small
But now today I find a lot has come to change my mind
It took some time to understand
Older people play little games in another way
Their castles crumble to sand
A lonely hour to withstand
Today my First Love is alone
Do you miss her? Is it so sad?
The tears you cry should be glad
Remembering her's not all that bad
You think you've got it in the palm of your hand
Then it slips through your fingers like a grain of sand
You're blood in the water to a hungry shark
It slips in silent then it rips you apart
Chorus:
Oh-oh, it's famine or feast, that's the nature of the beast
Screams like an eagle, cries like a dove, oh-oh,
that's the nature of love
Now some will find it on their wedding day
Some will never give their hearts away
It can be so cold you, think you're gonna freeze
Or burn you up like a slow disease
(chorus) - the nature of love
(Solo)
Like blood in the water to a hungry shark
It slips in silent then it rips you apart
(chorus repeats 2x)
That's the nature of love, that's the nature of love,
the nature of love
Screams like an eagle,
cries like a dove,
that's the nature of love...
You said you'd walk up to me any day
You'd come a laughing all the while.
You'd sit by me and we'd talk about today.
whatever happened to your smile?
Keeping your word you've come to me like
A stray.
Now I've been witness to a trial
And I feel as though it was only yesterday
Whatever happened to your smile?
Whatever happened to your smile?
The look upon your face,
The sparkle in your eyes?
The way you'd laugh, but for a while.
Whatever happened to your smile?
Whatever happened to your smile?
I do believe that you will not allow
Yourself to feel like a child
And i know it's hard to live for the
Here and now
But, whatever happened to your smile?
Now that you've come I guess you'll be
On your way
And you'll be travellin' many a mile.
But when you're back i hope that I won't
Have to say
Whatever happened to your smile?
Whatever happened to your smile?
The look upon your face,
The sparkle in your eyes?
The way you'd laugh, but for a while.
Whatever happened to your smile?
Whatever happened to your smile?
I remember the feeling, not so long ago
The kids came dancin', their hearts were romancin'
And the music was live Poco
Some called it country, some called it rock and roll
But whatever the sound, it was sure to be found
With a heart, rhythm and soul
Chorus:
Do you remember then, how it was when it all began
Do you remember then, how the music made you feel,
when it all began
Ooh do you remember when, when it all began,
ooh do you remember when
New York and Boston, yeah we sure had some fun
Summer nights in the park, and when the music would start
Ooh what a time and then some
We sang together, "a good feelin' to know"
Yeah we turned it up loud, gave our hearts to the crowd
But then came the end of the show
(chorus)
To capture the moment, to make it ours for all time
I know we can just remember how it was,
when it all began
(Solo)
Oh now do, do you remember when - how the music played
Ooh, do you remember when - when it all began
Oh now ooh, do you remember when, oh now ooh, do you remember when
Do you remember, do you remember when,
do you remember...
(to fade)
Chorus:
Who else has your heart tonight, who else (who else)
Who else stays awake all night, who else
If a picture says a thousand words,
you don't have to say a thing
'Cause I can see it in those big green eyes
You can't hide what you can't explain
it's right there in your eyes
(chorus)
I hear a whisper softly in my ear,
a little voice that tries to say
Don't let her go now, she's so good for you
You'd be a fool to let her walk away
don't let her walk away
(chorus)
(Solo)
(chorus)
I don't wanna be the last to know, oh no
(Text: Timothy B. Schmit)
(Music: John Brennan & Timothy B. Schmit)
No, no
Please don't go
Take it easy
Move it slow
Yeah, yeah
Say it ain't so
I got the feelin'
You want me no more
And you say
You've got to run away
Everyday
You think you'll find your way
But it's OK
'Til you find out you've been flyin' solo
No, no
Don't go below
Rise above it
Let it flow
Yeah, yeah
There are seeds you must sow
Grab ahold and don't let go
Take the key
And unlock the door
What's that you see
Another corridor
And there's much more
'Til you find out you've been flyin' solo
Solo.
Have you ever been dreamin'
'Bout the way it could have been
Then you wake up disbelievin'
It's a sin
Oh, but then
You're flyin' solo
Solo
So much to know
Feel the rhythm
Head to toe
I know
We all must grow
But raise the curtain
Before the show
Do you feel
You've been mesmerized
Makin' a deal
To free you from your ties
It's all right
'Til you find out you've been flyin' solo
Solo
Solo
You got me turnin' to the left
You got me twisted to the right
Woman all I'm askin' is
Is anything all right?
You got me waiting in the day
I'm waiting long into the night
Baby don't you hear me say
Hey, is anything all right
With the ball in your court
You gotta cut me short
When there's nothin' left to lose
Ain't I the one you use?
I'm going down to the very last inning
I'm getting out, it was a tough beginning
No time to take maybe one last shot
Too late to find my blood running hot
CHORUS:
From a whisper to a shout
Ain't I the Odd Man Out
From a whisper to a shout
And I'm the Odd Man Out
We were together livin' separately
Like a VCR without a TV screen
One more day, one more bad habit
Three words to say, that's all: "I've had it"
REPEAT CHORUS
REPEAT CHORUS
I don't know why the sun don't shine
Just listen to my music all the time (sing it Jim)
I don't know why people pass me by
Just-a sitting here singing my song
And I don't know why people can't be free
All you got to do is to be like me
Get yourself a guitar and pick out a song
Baby it won't be long
Hear that music
That good old country song
It makes you walk, makes you talk
Makes you jump on the floor
Then you got to come back for more
Hear that music
You know it can't be wrong
Well if you want to know the way to go
Come help me while I sing my song
Everybody's saying that trouble's got you down
But tell me something don't you want to smile upon the town
Look in the sky there's no reason why
You can't help me with my song
Well it's really easy remember what I said
Listen to the music, let it take your head
You better run or you miss the fun
Baby it won't be long, it won't be long
Hear that music
That good old country song
It makes you walk, makes you talk
Makes you jump on the floor
Then you got to come back for more
Hear that music
You know it can't be wrong
If you wanna know the way to go
Come help me while I sing my song
It's really easy remember what I said
Listen to the music, let it take your head
You better run or you'll miss the fun
Baby it won't be long
Hear that music
Hear that music
Well if you wanna know the way to go
Come help me while I sing my song
Well if you wanna know the way to go
Come help me while I sing my song
From a backwater town in Ohio, all the way down to New Orleans
Hiding deep in the bayou, waiting on a Northbound river queen
For too many years now, I've been the devil's own
In a midnight rage, I take the streets alone
Chorus:
Living in the shadows, hiding in the shadows of night
Wounded in the shadows, down on the streets,
down on the streets
Down on the streets of paradise
Walking around there was a wound in my head
For many long days I was left there for dead
So many miles from the borderline
Only half a man down on the streets tonight
Living in the shadows (hiding in the shadows of night)
Hiding in the shadows of night (wounded in the shadows)
Wounded in the shadows (lying in the shadows)
Down on the streets, down on the streets,
down on the streets of paradise
(repeats 2x)
(S. Goodwin/R. Furay/J. Messina)
Silken-soft she rises from the dawn, child of spring
I've known her, oh, for so long
Creature of the earth but never to be wed
She's far too high for mortal's bed
So touch her now and love her while you can
Soon she'll travel on and join the wind
Often she'll be there as you are falling through your eyes
Revisiting some place in the past
And she leads you softly to the limits of a world
But you'll only see her face in a glass
Staring back with eyes that cannot see you
And yet you wish that yours were just as good
So touch her now and love her while you can
Soon she'll travel on and join the wind
Soon she'll travel on and join the wind
Soon she'll travel on and join the wind
Call it Love
by Poco
We've got all night
Let's take our time
Tell me your secrets
I'll tell you mine
When it makes us feel better
Call it love
You say you won't
I say you will
You make me crazy
But I want you still
When it makes us feel better
Call it love
Do we tell the truth
Or do we live a lie
Is the feeling good
Is that what makes you cry
When you say those words
Look me in the eye
Tell me why
You call it love
I play my hand
You call my bluff
We push each other
'Til we've had enough
When it's all you've got
Call it love
If I didn't have money
Would you want me still
When you look real close
Do we fit the bill
Call it what you want
But only time will tell
Do we tell the truth
Or do we live a lie
Is the feeling good
Is that what makes you cry
When you say those words
Look me in the eye
Tell me why
You call it love
We've got all night
Let's take our time
Tell me your secrets
I'll tell you mine
When it makes us feel better
Call it love
(Richie Furay)
Thought a girl was a girl and then
I found myself in love again.
I've been in love a time or two
But it never happened like it did with you.
Do you feel it, too?
Yea, my heart just went for a ride
Certain feelings you just can't hide
I thought I knew a thing or two
About the ways of the girls, ah,
but not like you.
Do ya feel it, too?
Please remember how
I feel about you.
Let me know right now
That I'm pleasin' you (I'm pleasin' you)
Please remember how
I feel about you.
Let me know right now (let me know)
That I'm pleasing you (I'm pleasin' you)
Thought a girl was a girl and then
Found myself in love again.
I've been in love a time or two
But it never happened like it did with you.
Do ya feel it, too?
Do ya feel it, too?
Do ya feel it...
Well there goes another day
Now I wonder why
You and I
Keep telling lies
I can't believe that what you say
'cause tomorrows lullaby
Can't passify
My lonesome crying
We'll make believe that's all you know
And to make lelieve is a game
A child's rein
You've changed your name
So sadly I watched the show
Sin watched you become
Truth is the shame
Yeah, too much pain
Take the water, blue water
Can you see how far it is from flowin' free? Can we let it just be?
Without a feelin' of bein' just a little guilty, alright
Get your water, green water eipe your eyes in it, still isn't very clear
It wouldn't be wise to get too near save the cause of your own true fear
Yes I remember when , when it turned the bend in a natural way
It seems there was a time in my mind when it caught the light of day
I want to see it talkin' back to the sun
I need to feel it wild and on the run
And I remember when, when it turned the bend in a natural way
It seems there was a time in my mind when it caught the light of day
I want to see it talkin' back to the sun
I need to feel it wild and on the run
C'mon and get your water, blue water
Can we settle for what you can give?
Sure and behold you're without the need to live
And you're changin' wind may bring you back to blue again
I'm havin' a time tellin' my children when, yeah
Brass buttons, green silks and silver shoes
Warm evenings, pale mornings, bottled blues
And tiny golden pins that she wore up in her hair
Brass buttons, green silks and silver shoes
My mind was young and then it grew
My thoughts known only by a few
A dream much too real to be leaned against too long
And all the time I guess she knew
Her thoughts still dance inside my head
Her comb still lies beside my bed
But the sun comes up without her, it doesn't know she's gone
And it remembers nothing that she said
Brass buttons, green silks and silver shoes
Warm evenings, pale mornings, bottled blues
And tiny golden pins that she wore up in her hair
Brass buttons, green silks and silver shoes
(Paul Cotton)
Well, she don't change horses in midstream
She got but one heart and one dream
She had a feelin' I was runnin' scared
In the face of trouble we took a dare
To be one, to be two
Way below this burnin' sun
I swear there isn't anyone but you
Don't have to tell nobody just how we feel
They can take one look and they know it's real
Straight out of heaven through the confusion
Comes an eleven, she brings the truth to me
To be one, to be two
Way below this burnin' sun
I swear there isn't anyone but you
I was driftin' in my mind
Thought I was goin' blind
She saved my life in time
Ain't gonna be nobody's fool
Just when I thought it would not blow over
Straight out of nowhere comes a lover
Bringin' the things I'd never heard of
And all the dreams I could not be sure of
To be one, to be two
Way below this burnin' sun
I swear there isn't anyone but you
I don't sing no songs to make you sad
Only ones to love me
Every now and then again
If you're feeling down and lonely
C'mon, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon
C'mon and love me
Ain't it downright sad at times
When your love's been mistaken
There's no one left, no one's around
Only your heart breaking
C'mon, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon
C'mon and love me
I believe that you and I as men
Should love one and another
Satisfied, have a peace of mind
Love your neighbor as your brother
C'mon, yea, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon
C'mon and love me
C'mon, yea, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon
C'mon and love me
C'mon, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon
C'mon and love me
In ev'ry day that passes us by
I can't help the feelin' that you and I
We won't get to see another day together.
Looks like bad weather.
I can see it all there in your eyes
And it comes to me as no surprise
That you don't need me here no more.
Your feeling tells the score.
Words, they are getting
Hard for me to find.
You take me by my hand
And you're leading me blind.
In ev'ry day that passes us by
I can't help the feelin' that you and I
We won't get to see another day together.
Looks like bad weather.
Yes it does,
(Timothy B. Schmit)
Well I came out Of nowhere just to see you
Now I can't find my way home feeling so blue
I See the sign by the corner light telling
Me which way to go, but I don't know.
When you walked up to me and told
me dearly.
How you'd like me to join, you said
quite clearly
Did it ever occur to you, that I might like to
See you?
Everyday I see a different situation,
I can't find much that is true
And you know it ain't much of a relation.
Still, I'm calling on you
All the lime I keep feeling how it could be,
Between lovers who only want to be free
Just the Same I don't feel too strong.
Armed with nothing but a song for too long.
Maybe there will be a day I see direction
. . . . -Oh Bitter Blue
Ooh Bitter Blue
I keep On calling out your name
I look outside and find the rain
If I only had an idea what to do-
About you Bitter Blue
Ooh Bitter Blue
Repeat
(Rusty Young)
WHEN THE DANCE IS OVER
Spinnin' around and around in a circle,
Once you sit down you start it all over again,
Laughin' so hard you lose all track of time,
So shuffle your feet and follow the beat on down
And when the dance is over
Who will your partner be
Will both of you be takin'
The chance to dance again?
The chance to dance again...
Everyone's slippin' away to the rhythm,
Lookin' to find someone to show them the light
So stare at the floor and pretend
You don't notice it's getting later and later tonight
GO ON AND DANCE
Can you hear the sound of music playing?
Can you hear the sound of voices saying?
The night is young and there's
No need to hurry
So take your time , you don't
Have to worry
Go on and dance
Go on and dance...
Dance now darlin', you'll find romance
Waitin' just for you
There is moonlight if you care to
Stop and see it through
Go on and dance
Go on and dance...
Can you hear the sound of guitars playing?
Can you hear the sound of children saying?
The night is young...
Dance now darlin'...
NEVER GONNA STOP
Never gonna stop
Never gonna stop dance, dance, dancin'
Never gonna stop
Ain't never gonna stop dance, dance, dancin'
Never gonna stop...
Never gonna stop...
(REPRISE)WHEN THE DANCE IS OVER
And when the dance is over
Who will your partner be?
Will both of you be takin'
The chance to dance again?
The chance to dance...
And when the dance is over...
(Rusty Young)
Look at all the raindrops fall from the sky tonight
Just so many teardrops searchin' for a place to hide
Fallin' from the dark clouds descendin' on their way
Baby aren't those raindrops just like you and I
Won't you listen to your heart
Tell me what you hear
Is the sound of thunder comin' much too near
Runnin' from The Storm
Icy winds are blowin' autumn leaves across the sky
There's no way for us to catch them even if we try
Hiding from the dark clouds that send them on their way
Baby aren't those fallin' leaves just like you and I
Won't you listen to your heart
Tell me what you hear
Is the sound of thunder comin' much too near
We're runnin' from The Storm
Won't you listen to your heart tell me what you hear
Is the sound of thunder comin' much too near
Look into your heart and tell me what you see
Is it just a day or how it has to be
Runnin' from The Storm
Runnin' from The Storm
(Paul Cotton)
As the moon goes fading
He lies awake waiting
For a break in the night
When he makes he's lonely flight
And it's the same old story
Somebody bound for glory
And somewhere in my life
I swear it had to belong
I've been countin' the stars
As they come on through the bars
And I've been heard singin'
A sad man's song
It's time for busting
Out of this jail
And get me a gun
No time for bail
And I've been here too many nights too long
And now I wonder if
They'll find me tonight
I've been sleepin' in the day
Runnin' below the pale moonlight
Hidin' in a canebrake
From a man I can't seem to shake
And in my head
I'm hearing a southern song
Mississippi,
Roll on in my brain
And keep me sheltered
In the summer rain
I could never stay here too many nights too long
And now I wonder if
They'll find me tonight
I've been sleepin' in the day
Runnin' below the pale moonlight
Escondido en un canaveral
De un hombre que no puedo ver
Y el hombre, escondido
De donde sera
Mississippi,
Roll on in my brain
And keep me sheltered
In the summer rain
I could never stay here too many nights too long
(Paul Cotton)
My woman dances like a southern leel
She's out to take a chance to show me how it feels
But I can't sit here in this chair anymore
She's about to take my hand and drag me on the floor
I guess, I should accept the call
But I really don't know what to say
The operator won't let you talk at all
And she said, "You want me to pay?"
Oh, well it ain't nothin' new
It fits right with my picture of you
But tonight, you're gonna find out
What these tears are all about
'Cause this old flame went out
You never thought you'd be the one
In the darkness now
I think you know, what I'm talkin' about
This old flame went out
You went to get cigarettes
That was last July, you didn't get home yet
And now you expect me to hear you out
You call me collect, there ain't no doubt
This old flame went out
You never thought you'd be the one
In the darkness now
I think you know, what I'm talkin' about
This old flame went out
What do you mean, how can I do this to you?
Let's not forget who walked out on who
This old flame went out
You never thought you'd be the one
In the darkness now
I think you know, what I'm talkin' about
This old flame went out
I think you know, what I'm talkin' about
Tomorrow always brings
Rain, drummin' on my window pane
As the skies unleash their tears
And darkened clouds release their fears
Washin' clean the festering earth
It foretells of a renaissance
And in the thrill of its rebirth
Flowers wait to greet the dawn
Childish in their innocence
Laughin' out tomorrow gone
Tomorrow always brings
Rain ah, but soon the sun
Will shine again
Lookin' on while you and I, walk along
Wonderin' why knowin' you're lovin' me
(Paul Cotton)
There he goes he's a trader, moving
On through the virgin land.
Got the word from the government that it's
Too late for a lowly man, to make a Stand.
His reasons read like a prophecy.
He made them up as he went along
Those who saw it as a falacy are
Remembered as only dead and gone.
And now we all know who was right.
And the time showed who was wrong.
We saw them wield all their might.
I guess they knew that it wouldn't be long.
I guess they knew that it wouldn't be long.
He's come to change all the wilderness
Change the course of the rivers too.
He's not about ta stop for any rest
But somebody, please say we're through
Here we go again and again
Save your woman, save the land
Save the children, they are the future hands
In the promised land
They're the future hands in the promised land
They're the future hands in the promised land.
And now they're left without a home
Somebody left them in the cold
(Richie Furay)
It's a good mornin' and I'm feelin' fine
Hey, (uh huh) it's such a lovely day
Smile, a frown would be pass?
I wanna play
Oh, What A Day
I've got to dream
I can't find a reason to care
And it seems
I hung all my thoughts in mid-air
Look over there
Oh, stop and stare
It's a good mornin' and I'm feelin' fine
What did you say?
It's a wonderful day
It's a good mornin' and I'm feelin' fine
Hey, it's such a lovely day
Oh, smile, a frown would just be pass?
I wanna play
Oh, What A Day
It's a good mornin' and I'm feelin' fine (It's a good mornin')
It's a good mornin' and I'm feelin' fine (It's a good mornin')
It's a good mornin' and I'm feelin' fine (It's a good mornin')
It's a good mornin' and I'm feelin' fine
I've thought about the things I need
And I'm willing just to let them be
There's nothing that I'd want anyway
That could take the place of you and all the things you do and say
We've come so very far in such a little time
And looking back there is only you that I find
Who was willing to give and maybe lose
You've got me tying up my walking shoes, these walking shoes
Twenty years on the run
I've only known a setting sun
Burning out on a lonely road
I've come to feel a lighter load
Twenty years on the run
I've only known a setting sun
Burning out on a lonely road
I've come to feel a lighter load
Now it's time we can turn the page
I believe you and I have come of age
All along it was there to see
What was really meant to be
Oh baby, it's a game, it's the only one in town
It's a game all the changes going 'round
It's taken twenty years to get it on the way
(Rusty Young)
Silence is all we have
Between us
To see us
Through the night
Make believe, just pretend
We'll always
And always
Have love
And when the time
Has come for us
To speak our peace
Will there be nothin' left for us
But memories
Or will we make
The same mistakes
We made before
But just go on pretendin' that there's
Nothin' more
And make believe, just pretend
We'll always
And always
Too tough to handle, too much to hold
She goes round and round and round and round, the girl runs hot and cold
What you gonna do when she's tired of you?
Reputation, mmm, reputation
Run like the devil or sink like a stone
You'll go down and down and down and down and wind up on your own
You're not the first to fall, it's happened to us all
(Solo)
She's too tough to handle, too much to hold
She goes round and round it's all over town, but you just can't let her go
Ten wheels rolling through a lonely night
I know what I'm feeling
And it's not quite right
Look out the window could be anywhere
I miss that thing that only we could share
Special care
The kind you can't get
Just anywhere
Special care
Oh my heart is surley breaking now
Sixteen days before I'm back in town
I'm caught between a rock and a hard place
I'd give anything just to see your face
Bringing me that special care
The kind I can't get just anywhere
Bring to me that special care
Ten thousand miles through some
Lonely days
It's enough to change some of these
Gypsy ways
When you're caught between somewhere
and another place
I'd give anything just to see your face
Bring me that special care
The kind I can't get just anywhere
I've got my head up on the ceiling
And I can't see myself lookin' down
At a heartthat has no feelin'
And I could not care when you come around
I'm tryin' to find a way to tell you,
Oh, my woman, you got to leave
And leave my life and try to make do
To somebody who will believe
If they could see through you to all of your lies
And take some time and maybe realize
That it's over before it began
And you're leavin' to find another man, oh.
I've got my head up on the ceiling
And I can't see myself lookin' down
At a heartthat has no feelin'
And I could not care when you come around
I don't want to scold you
I just want to hold you
Keep you in my arms all night
I can't understand why
It's so hard for you and I
To make these feelings come out right
Take it easy baby, take it slow
Because it's true you know
When hearts collide
Love can't survive
It goes to pieces before your eyes
When hearts collide
Can we find our way back
Can we find the right track
Before it gets too late for us
We had something special
Something we can't let go
Have you heard about the ones who can't get to sleep at night
Walking through their shoes in the neon light
There's a strain in their faces from the wind and the sand
Of the far away places where they had to make a stand
On their way down, on their way down, on their way down, down to the wire
They were talking in the news, of a run about to be made
It would come when they cut it loose, from the plan they lay
On some future night, when the talk is low
They agree it's right and Lord it's time to go
On their way down, on their way down, on their way down, down to the wire
(Solo)
Deep in the still of night (on their way down)
They'll be movin' across the line (on their way down)
On their way down, down to the wire
On their way down (deep in the still of night)
On their way down (they'll be movin' across the line)
Out in the night, lovers hold hands as they stake out the light
Sirens scream as they rush out of sight
We whisper plans and promise to love for as long as we can
We'll make this night the night it began
While we're still young, while we're still young, while we're still young
Down on the street, strangers trade glances each time their eyes meet
Neon lights dance as if to a beat
We take it slow and wait for our song on the car radio
Then sing along with the words that we know
While we're still young, while we're still young, while we're still young
Take my hand and hold on tight, we'll go running, running from the light
We may stand, we may fall, take a chance to lose it all
While we're still young, while we're still young, while we're still young
Out in the night, lovers hold hands as they stake out the light
Sirens scream as they rush out of sight
While we're still young, while we're still young, while we're still young
While we're still young, while we're still young, while we're still young
Maybe someday I can trade you a smile
Makin' love, a dream that's worthwhile
I've been watchin' you like a mother and child
What you're feelin', oh
What you're feelin'
Make me a smile
Yellow ribbons stream through your hair
Such a feelin', now, don't leave me there
You make it so hard for me not to stare
What you're feelin', oh
What you're feelin'
Please make me aware
Lover, come on, I can see suddenly
Changes in you, you're smilin' at me
Lover, belong only to me
Arrange your sweet tune to make harmony
Lover, come on, I can see suddenly
Changes in you, you're smilin' at me
Lover, belong only to me
Arrange your sweet tune to make harmony
Maybe someday I can trade you a smile
Makin' love, a dream that's worthwhile
I've been watchin' you like a mother and child
What you're feelin', oh
What you're feelin'
There's a wind that blows
On the southern sea
And it whirls around
Deep inside of me
Always bringing me up
Never letting me down
I had a dream I was on my way
To Bridgetown
I've seen ships that sail
Each and every day
And when they start up their engines
They steal my heart away
Barbados
I'm another one born to run
Barbados
I need another sweet taste of rum
I been sailing on this raging sea
The higher the venture
The better I'll be
Tossin', turnin', rollin' in my bed, shady doin's runnin' through my head
How long, how long can this game go on
Torn and tattered, all my faith is gone
Can't you see that I'm not made of stone, 'n I can't live on promises alone
Turned and twisted, shaken to my soul
Livin' this way sure can take its' toll
Why can't you just lay it on the line
Worn and wasted, runnin' out of time
Can't you see that I'm not made of stone, no, no
'n I can't live on promises alone
(Solo)
Tossin', turnin', rollin' in my bed, shady doin's runnin' through my head
How long, how long can this game go on
Torn and tattered, all my faith is gone
Can't you see that I'm not made of stone, I can't live on promises alone
Don't you see that I'm not made of stone, I can't live on promises alone
Spinnin' around and around in a circle
Once you sit down you start it all over again
Laughin' so hard you lose all track of time
So shuffle your feet, follow the beat on down
And when the dance is over who will your partner be?
Will both of you be takin' the chance to dance again?
The chance to dance again
Everyone's slippin' away to the rhythm
Lookin' to find someone to show them the light
So stare at the floor and pretend
You don't notice it's getting later, later tonight
And when the dance is over who will your partner be?
Will both of you be takin' the chance to dance again?
The chance to dance again
Can you hear the sound of music playing?
Can you hear the sound of voices saying?
The night is young, there's no need to hurry
So take your time, you don't have to worry
Go on and dance, go on and dance
Dance now darlin', you'll find romance waitin' just for you
There is moonlight if you care to stop and see it through
Go on and dance, go on and dance
Can you hear the sound of guitars playing?
Can you hear the sound of children saying?
The night is young, there's no need to hurry
So take your time, you don't have to worry
Go on and dance, go on and dance
Dance now darlin', you'll find romance waitin' just for you
(You know that it's true)
There is moonlight if you care to stop and see it through
(It's there for you)
Go on and dance, go on and dance
(Go on and dance)
Never gonna stop
(Never gonna stop dance, dance, dancin')
Never gonna stop
(Ain't never gonna stop dance, dance, dancin')
Never gonna stop
(Ain't never gonna stop dance, dance, dancin')
Never gonna stop
(Ain't never gonna stop dance, dance, dancin')
Never gonna stop
(Ain't never gonna stop dance, dance, dancin')
Never gonna stop
(Ain't never gonna stop my dancin')
And when the dance is over who will your partner be?
Will both of you be takin' the chance to dance again?
The chance to
And when the dance is over who will your partner be?
Will both of you be takin' the chance to dance again?
The chance to
All the ways of your love
The hurt and tears to cry
I sit and count the reasons why I ever
Fall in love.
It seems so simple to me.
I know just how it should be
You take my lovin', so carelessly
I keep on hoping someday you'll understand
A heart that is breaking and keeps waiting
For you
And, All the ways of your love
The hurt and tears to cry
I sit and count the reasons why I ever fall
In love
When we're together you treat me like a child
You only tell me, what you think you should.
What if tomorrow I was blown out of your life?
How would you find your way, with no one
To show you
All the ways of your love
The hurt and tears to cry
I sit and count the reasons why I ever
Fall in love
All the time that's passed us by
Could it be that I could find
Hearts that act so blind
And never even try
All the ways
She could pack her things and slip away
Save her pride for another day
He could go on pretendin'
He's said, all there is to say
That if love is never ending
When broken hearts need mending
They find a way to hold on to
What matters most of all
There are no rules, there are no truths
No reason, there's no rhyme
There's just your heart, to see you through
It tells you every time
And when you feel it down deep inside
Without a doubt
That's what love is
That's what love is all about
Oh, it's a crazy world and she knows it
She knows how the pieces fit
All the things that they've been through
They're too hard to forget
But if love is never ending
When broken notes need mending
They find a way to hold on to
What matters most of all
There are no rules, there are no truths
No reason, there's no rhyme
There's just your heart, to see you through
It tells you every time
And when you feel it down deep inside
Without a doubt
That's what love is
That's what love is all about
So, she'll have a little faith
And hold on a little harder
'Cause she knows just what it takes
And that's what love has taught her
There are no rules, there are no truths
No reason, there's no rhyme
There's just your heart, to see you through
It tells you every time
And when you feel it down deep inside
Without a doubt
That's what love is
That's what love is all about
That's what love is
That's what love is all about
I know I'm in over my head, I'm walkin' a fine line
Tryin' not to be the one who falls in and out this time
I'm just gonna hold my breath, close my eyes and pray
I'm not gonna worry now, tomorrow's too far away
When people say that it can never last
Heaven will just slip out of our grasp
People don't believe a day goes by
We don't end up saying our goodbyes
What do people know, what do people know
There's always been a chance you and I won't last forever
We've been in and out of love before, I'll never say never
I'm just gonna hold my breath, close my eyes and pray
I'm not gonna worry now, tomorrow's too far away
When people say that it can never last
Heaven will just slip out of our grasp
People don't believe a day goes by
We don't end up saying our goodbyes
What do people know, what do people know
When people say that it can never last
Heaven will just slip out of our grasp
People don't believe a day goes by
We don't end up saying our goodbyes
What do people know, what do people know
What do people know
What do people know
What do people know
Making love has been as much as I could hope it would be
And every night has been like one night to me
You got me feeling again
The feeling you gave me before
But to you those nights like any other night
Tonight is just one more
Don't try to tell me that you care enough to love me
When you can't even do the things I need you to do
Don't make me listen words you think will please me
When pleasing me don't mean anything to you
Just one more night makes no difference as long
There's another night to make right
When you did wrong
The last days we had with one another will have to do
While your on your way
You've got your reasons
And like the seasons they change
Talking of pleasure
While enjoying the pain
And though it keeps you in the light
And all the words are said just right
There's still a cry in the night, oh yes
So we climbed every mountain
Through the snow covered hills
Taken for granted
You can get all your fill
And if I seem to look away
And turn the pages of the play
There are these things I have to say, oh yes
I'm a springtime boy
And I look for the joy
Of a world in bloom
And could it come never too soon, oh no
And while the world is turning
And the sun is burning
Do you think in my yearning
That the journey is through?
I can't leave it up to you
And though it keeps you in the light
And all the words are said just right
There's still a cry in the night
Oh, there's still a cry in the night, yeah, yeah
I don't care what your man is sayin', he don't know what it's all about
He says one thing when you're lookin' and another when you turn around
Don't get caught up in emotion and how good it used to be
Just remember there's a reason, that's the way it has to be
Chorus:
Now don't you believe him, just take this advice
And don't look for rainbows in a fool's paradise
High up on a distant mountain, he sits lookin' down on you and me
Says it doesn't really matter to him, he knows how it's got to be
See it in his way or forget it, he don't need to come around
Anytime he's got the feelin', he knows that he's got the sound
(chorus)
(Solo)
I don't care what the man is sayin', he don't know what it's all about
He says one thing when you're lookin' and another when you turn around
Don't get caught up in emotion and how good it used to be
Just remember there's a reason, that's the way it has to be
(chorus)
No you just can't believe him, so take this advice
And don't look for rainbows in a fool's paradise
(Richie Furay)
What if I should say I love you
Would you spend some time?
I'll tell you what I'm thinkin' of you
But if I do, do you have to know why?
When I look at you,
Are you wond'rin who
I am to do
Such a thing to you.
I bet you know that you're breakin'
my heart.
I bet you know . . . my heart.
What if I should say I love you
Baby, would you steal away my heart
And could the moment last for always
And ever, or should we even start.
When you look at me,
All the world can see
I suddenly
Want your love for me.
I bet you know that you're breakin'
my heart.
I bet you know . . . my heart.
Maybe someday I would be gone
Then you'd be alone
Won'drin' what's wrong
(Richie Furay)
You've had me to love now
But what will you do
If I'm heartaches to you
This livin' like two.
I fear it could be poison
From the taste
Seems my whole life
Should be retraced.
What am I gonna do?
When I'm locked in the middle
With a key that's from you
And another one, too
But which door to undo.
Visions in the keyhole
Leaves me blind.
I should have seen
A warnin' sign.
What am I gonna do?
And now it's one or the other
But how can I choose
When there's a chance that
I might lose
The one that I refuse
All the love of two
Won't leave me free
And losin' you for her
Leaves less of me.
I don't know why the sun don't shine
Just listen to my music all the time
And I don't know why people pass me by
Just to sitting here singing my song
And I don't know why people can't be free
All you gotta do is to be like me
Get yourself a guitar and pick out a song
Baby it won't be long
Hear that music
That good old country song
It makes you walk, makes you talk,
Makes you jump on the floor
Then you got to come back for more
Hear that music
You know it can't be wrong
If you want to know the way to go
Come help me while I sing my song
Everybody saying that trouble's got you down
But tell me something don't you want to smile upon the town
Look in the sky there's no reason why
You can't help me with my song
Oh it's really easy remember what I said
Listen to the music, let it take your head
You better run or you miss the fun
Baby it won't be long, it won't be long
Hear that music
That good old country song
It makes you walk, makes you talk
Makes you jump on the floor
Then you got to come back for me
Hear that music
You know it can't be wrong
If you wanna know the way to go
Come help me while I sing my song
It's really easy remember what I said
Listen to the music let it take your head
You better run or you miss the fun
Baby it won't be long
Hear that music
Hear that music
Well if you wanna know the way to go
Come help me while I sing my song
Well if you wanna know the way to go
(Timothy B. Schmit)
Here it comes, another heartache
Bringing me pain and misery
It's peekin' 'round the bend sayin'
";Hey my friend, sit down, and keep me company.";
Always seems to me that
I make the biggest fool and tragedy.
Tellin' you this time I'm gonna stay in line,
No one's a-gonna bother me.
Think about the times, if you can, and I'll let you
Remember the rhymes that we talked when we were new.
I can recall the days when I'd wake up
To find you beside me,
But you could have stayed
'Stead of takin' off that way..
Here it comes, another heartache
Bringing me pain and misery
It's peekin' 'round the bend sayin'
";Hey my friend, sit down, and keep me company.";
Always seems to me that
I make the biggest fool and tragedy.
Tellin' you this time I'm gonna stay in line,
No one's a-gonna bother me.
And I can't ever change it
Hard luck is all to blame.
If I try to rearrange it,
I wished I could, it ain't no good
Why do things always turn out just the same?
(Timothy B. Schmit)
When I last saw you I couldn't find a reason why
I felt kind o' blue watching you
Hello my sweet friend I've come to sing a lullaby
Can I make amends or should I try
Ooo - Mama can't you see it's not the same
Lookin' back behind A-can't start anew
But then here we go again
Searching back to you I've finally come to realize
When we were as two - tellin' lies
Livin' so afraid we never read between the lines
It's different from today - the sun, it shines
When I first saw you I knew I couldn't change my mind
Twisted point of view - another kind
But love is what we choose and not for us to reason why
Sometimes love we lose and never try
Ooh - Could it really be it's not the same
Lookin' back behind is such a silly game
In the heart of the night
in the cool southern rain
There's a full moon in sight
shining down on the Pontchartrain
And the river she rises
just like she used to do
She's so full of surprises
she reminds me of you
(chorus)
In the heart of the night
In the heart of the night
In the heart of the night
Woh, down in New Orleans
There's a night bird singing
right on through till the dawn
And the streets are still ringing
with people carrying on
It's been so long waiting
just to be here again
Anticipating all the
time I could spend
(chorus)
And I trust in your love
never falling down
I trust in your love
just like I do in this town
Woh, never falling down
Woh, never falling down
In the heart of the night
in the cool fallin' rain
There's a full moon in sight
shining down on the Pontchartrain
And the river she rises
just like she used to do
She's so full of surprises
Oh, momma, she reminds me of you
Right here
(chorus)
Oh, woh, down in New Orleans
And I'm so glad to be back in New Orleans
Please don't wake me, don't shake me
If it's only, if it's only just a dream
It's the only place I can face that feels so right
Below that Dixie moon and loving you
Well, I'm going to a hoe down
And kick up my heels
Go all night and never slow down
Yes, I love how it feels
Said I'm going to a hoe down
And kick up my heels
You go all night and never slow down
I love how it feels
Come on and go to the hoe down
And kick up your heels
You go all night and never slow down
I bet you'll love how it feels
Yes, I'm going to a hoe down
And kick up my heels
Go all night and never slow down
(Rusty Young)
Oh yeah, Tell tie, me a story 'bout how
You been burned.
No one can hurt you, your lessons
You've learned.
All for the lover vith the stars in his eyes
Feelin' the pain of all his bye byes.
Feelin' the pain of all his bye byes.
High and Dry, High and Dry.
I could tell you things just ain't the same
Look all around you there's no one to blame.
There is o reason for all of the tears.
You do less cryin', there'll be fewer tears
You do less cryin', there'll be fewer tears
High and Dry, High and Dry.
You know the road doesn't end.
When it reaches, reaches the bend
High and Dry, High and Dry.
I could tell you things just ain't the same.
Look all around you there's no one to blame
There is a reason for all of those tears.
You do less crying, there'll be fewer tears.
You do less crying, there'll be fewer tears.
High and Dry, High and Dry
High ond Dry, High and Dry.
You've got your reasons
Like the seasons they change
Talking of pleasure
While enjoying the pain
And though it keeps you in the light
And all the words are said just right
There's still a cry in the night
Up on the mountain
Through the snow-covered hills
Taken for granted
You can get all your fill
And if I seem to look away
And turn the pages of the play
There are these things I have to say
I'm a springtime boy and I look
For the joy
Of a world in bloom could it come
Never too soon
And while the world is turning
And the sun is burning
Do you think in my yearning that
The journey is through
I can't leave it up to you
And though it keeps you in the light
And all the words are said just right
(Jim Messina)
You better think twice
About leaving me behind,
Make up your mind
About what you're gonna do
You know it ain't easy
When your love huts night and day
Oh how you please
When I hear you call my name
Breathlessly I await the moment to surround you
Do not fear the song that makes you sing
It will offer you wings to fly away
But do expect to land if you can't stay
You better think twice
About leaving me behind
Make up your mind
About what you're gonna do
You take my advice
Oh woman, you got to choose
Take a little time
You got nothing more to lose
In time, you know my melody will haunt you
Your words can make it rhyme so easily
It ain't no sin, when love is real
So come on and let me know just how you feel
You better think twice
About leaving me behind,
Make up your mind
About what you're gonna do
You know it ain't easy
When your love huts night and day
Oh how you please
When I hear you call my name
Breathlessly I await the moment to surround you
Do not fear the song that makes you sing
It will offer you wings to fly away
But do expect to land if you can't stay
You better think twice
About leaving me behind
Make up your mind
About what you're gonna do
You take my advice
Oh woman, you got to choose
Take a little time
You got nothing more to lose
In time, you know my melody will haunt you
Your words can make it rhyme so easily
It ain't no sin, when love is real
So come on and let me know just how you feel
(Richie Furay)
Look up, wake up
The sun is shinin'
No it's not tomorrow
It's today.
Stand up, make up
For what you're finding
'Cause anyone who's turned around
And lost his way
Is looking for you.
You are the one
Who only needs to show a smile.
You are the one
Who can make any day be worthwhile.
You are the one.
You are the one.
Shameless, tameless
Are ways about you
And changing them now
Would seem unreal.
Nameless, aimless
Who shouldn't doubt you
I wonder if you really know
What you feel
Hey, I'm talkin' to you.
You are the one
Who only needs to show a smile.
You are the one
Who can make any day be worthwhile.
You are the one.
You are the one.
(Paul Cotton)
I've seen you falling behind your dreams
And pictures changing without the scenes
Broken stories and borrowed lines
Ain't it hard these days
To get on your way
Well, it's still what you do
And it's not so much in what you say
And there are people who ride a train
Into the city and back again
Only to get up in the same old frame
Could you reckon with them blues
In a world that's win or lose
Any fool could see
It goes on just the same
So many people inside the past
Talkin' 'bout these days they're movin' too fast
And the future it will not last
Everybody has a dream
Take the one you can live between
'Cause you're the only one that's left to choose
What you want to win or lose
I been thinkin' 'bout a place
Like a dream that tries to show
Can you see it in my face
That it's time again to go
When I hear her callin' me
From a one way track
Then I got to go and see
What it is that brings me back
Oh, Georgia, I'm just a stray
Won't you shine on my way
I can see it ther in your diamond eyes
When you hold me where your beauty lies
Oh, Georgia , please, I'm down to my knees
Won't you bind my ties
Won't you bind my ties
Everybody's gone away
They're all leaving town
And I'm movin' on to say
I'm through kickin' my heart around
Yes, it's all over now
Crazy things in my head
Have to stay together somehow
For I've got the dream again
Oh, Georgia, I'm just a stray
Won't you shine on my way
I can see it ther in your diamond eyes
When you hold me where your beauty lies
Oh, Georgia , please, I'm down to my knees
Won't you bind my ties
It's not the first time, I've been here before
I've stood in the hallway and stared at the door
My friends say I'm steady, both feet on the ground
But they never see me when she's around
When I'm standing on shaky ground (on shaky ground), afraid to look down
At the footsteps of a fool (footsteps of a fool)
What good does it do you to wait for the day
She'll come around and she'll see things your way
I swear that I'll walk away before it's the end
But each time it happens, I'm, I'm right back again
Standing here on this shaky ground (on shaky ground), afraid to look down
I keep standing here on this shaky ground (on shaky ground)
Afraid to look down, at the footsteps of a fool
(Solo)
Hold on to your heart
One's all that you've got
Don't let it break in two
Hold on to your love
Don't follow your heart
It can turn around on you
And there's nothing you can do
Nothing you can do
Nothing you can do
Love's so cruel
Love's so cruel
She's got eyes crystal blue
She's got eyes just for you
And your heart won't help at all
No matter how crazy
You know it can be
You'll go ahead and fall
Hold on to your heart
Hold on play it smart
Don't let love make
She could pack her things and slip away
Save her pride for another day
He could go on pretendin'
He's said, all there is to say
That if love is never ending
When broken hearts need mending
They find a way to hold on to
What matters most of all
There are no rules, there are no truths
No reason, there's no rhyme
There's just your heart, to see you through
It tells you every time
And when you feel it down deep inside
Without a doubt
That's what love is
That's what love is all about
Oh, it's a crazy world and she knows it
She knows how the pieces fit
All the things that they've been through
They're too hard to forget
But if love is never ending
When broken notes need mending
They find a way to hold on to
What matters most of all
There are no rules, there are no truths
No reason, there's no rhyme
There's just your heart, to see you through
It tells you every time
And when you feel it down deep inside
Without a doubt
That's what love is
That's what love is all about
So, she'll have a little faith
And hold on a little harder
'Cause she knows just what it takes
And that's what love has taught her
There are no rules, there are no truths
No reason, there's no rhyme
There's just your heart, to see you through
It tells you every time
And when you feel it down deep inside
Without a doubt
That's what love is
That's what love is all about
That's what love is
Standing in the midnight rain
All Alone with the pieces of my heart again
Knowing one of is right and one of is is gone
Into another night
You've gone running all alone
All alone into another night
You've gone running all alone
I 've still got these feelings left
Living in my heart and in my head
Breaking from the past I've come to know at last
Only a fool would stay
Stay and pretend
Only a fool would stay
Stay and pretend
I need you more than anyone
Or anything under the sun
Don't leave me lonely here
I get so lonely here
Standing in the midnight rain
All Alone with the pieces of my heart again
Knowing one of is right and one of is is gone
Into another night
You've gone running all alone
All alone into another night
In the firelight
Shinin' bright
Their faces worn and weathered
It's a hard life
An endless flight
From one night to another
Silver moonlight falls
Between grey walls
Through shutters old and weary
Broken window pane
Stands in vain
While night winds moan and whisper
And there's no lover
Whose heart burns
In this ghost town
Just the long shadows
That chase through this ghost town
Faded memories
Of used to be
Lie wasted and forgotten
Like a lost love
Who patiently waits
How will you feel tonight
When you're all alone
And you still think you're right
How will you feel tonight
Always running
You never walk
Do you ever listen
Or do you just talk
Afraid to take a chance
You'll always lose
You only like to dance
In the same old shoes
How will you feel tonight
When you're all alone
And you still think you're right
How will you feel tonight
Desperation
We've all had our share
A different situation
When there's nobody there
You ride in a wind of uncertainty
Filled with only vacant dreams
From another time another place
If you could see the lookon your face
Whish you could be in my place
How will you feel tonight
Friends in the distance, some kind of strangers up close
Lovers of the last dance, we watch that flame burning low
Who's the winner or the loser, it's too dark for me to see
Only friends in the distance, strangers in danger, you and me
Chorus:
You wanna talk about it, I wanna walk around it, I walk the night alone
There's nothing right about it, you're running right around it
Wait out the night alone
Friends in the distance, some kind of strangers up close
Lovers of the last dance, we watch the flame burning low
(Solo)
(chorus)
Friends in the distance, some kind of strangers up close
Lovers of the last dance, we watch that flame burning low
Tell me who's the winner or the loser, it's too dark for me to see
Only friends in the distance, strangers in danger, you and me
Only friends in the distance, strangers in danger, you and me, you and me
It's hard to see myself out there alone
People starin' 'cause I got no home
Nowhere to lay my head, so I just walk on
Searchin' for somethin', daylight 'til dawn
When I had taken about all I could take,
oh no, where's my life goin'
Livin' blindly to the difference you'd make
Your love was tender but strong,
you were there all along
Chorus:
If it wasn't for you - there'd be no one to make me try
If it wasn't for you - I'd just stand here and cry
If it wasn't for you - who would care if I lived or died
If it wasn't for you, now I know I'll get through
I don't know how it got to be this way
The hope of life just seemed to slip away
Can I find the strength to face another day
I can't pretend now, want it to end now
When I had taken about all I could take,
oh no, where's my life goin'
Livin' blindly to the difference you'd make
Your love was tender but strong, you were there all along
(chorus)
(Solo)
If it wasn't for you - who could I turn to
if it wasn't for you
If it wasn't for you - I'd feel my heart break in two
There's a ribbon wrapped around your heart
A tender moment sparks against the dark
Pieces so faithfully, fall one by one
When You Love Someone
When You Love Someone Promises we'd break along the way
Well sometimes darlin', that's the price we pay
But all those unspoken schemes
They just fade away
When You Love Someone
When You Love Someone Hey what's it do to you
When someone loves you too
Is that happiness always gonna stand by you
If you love someone? There's a ribbon wrapped around your heart
A tender moment sparks against the dark
Pieces so faithfully, they fall one by one
When You Love Someone
(Richie Furay/Jim Messina/Rusty Young/Timothy B. Schmit/George Grantham)
Intrumental
Taking the dream how we ran
In the rage of another plan
Heading for the mountain wall
Where it all began to fall
When we heard the wind call
Take your homes in the sun
There ain't no need to run
You've been here, you've been there
You've been everywhere
And the time has come to really care
Through our families
We had eyes to see
What could really be
We were making plans
In the promise land
Far away from the shining sea
For some it wasn't easy
Living in an old dream
There's so many rocks in the stream
Do you know what I mean
We are living in a time that is ours to share
Catch up, don't you stray too far behind
For the time has come for us to really care
Would you trade me your dream for mine
Taking the dream how we ran
In the rage of another plan
Heading for the mountain wall
Where it all began to fall
We were setting in the harbor
With our sights out on the land
And there was something someone or other
That we couldn't quite understand
About the driving wheel
Want to know how it feels
To be taking time out, turn it all about
We're taking hold the drivin' wheel
And there were miles of time drowned in the wine
We were talkin' 'bout better days
It was years ago when we pelt the goal
Was anchored to the changing ways, anchored to the changing ways
There ain't nothin' here, only the fear of
What is right and what is real
Satisfaction smile came on board for a while
We're taking hold, take hold of the drivin' wheel
We were set in the harbor, had our sights on the land
All the men at the wheel moving on with the plan
We were reaching together for the same end
Sunshiny weather comin' 'round the bend, comin' 'round the bend
There ain't nothin' here, only the fear of
What is right and what is real
Satisfaction smile came on board for a while
We're taking hold of the drivin' wheel
Take hold, take hold, take hold of the drivin' wheel
I wanna know, wanna know, I wanna know just how it feels
Take hold, take hold, take hold, drivin' wheel
Take hold, take hold, take hold, drivin' wheel
Take hold, take hold, take hold, drivin' wheel
Early times gone to rhyme
Somebody said it was a good time
To me, it was a long, long time
Just a long time
Early days gone to a gaze
Somebody said we'll make it crazy
And the leader passed it on
And he got lazy
Songs they got to slippin' and right-hand man took to trippin'
And the leader passed it on
Familiar faces I seen, similar places and I wonder
How we left some traces
Come the moon, go the sun
And I believe there's something on the run
Catching up we ran so far behind
Early days gone to rhyme
Early days gone to rhyme
Early days gone to rhyme

No, no
Please don't go
Take it easy
Move it slow
Yeah, yeah
Say it ain't so
I got the feelin'
You want me no more
And you say
You've got to run away
Everyday
You think you'll find your way
But it's OK
'Til you find out you've been flyin' solo
No, no
Don't go below
Rise above it
Let it flow
Yeah, yeah
There are seeds you must sow
Grab ahold and don't let go
Take the key
And unlock the door
What's that you see
Another corridor
And there's much more
'Til you find out you've been flyin' solo
Solo.
Have you ever been dreamin'
'Bout the way it could have been
Then you wake up disbelievin'
It's a sin
Oh, but then
You're flyin' solo
Solo
So much to know
Feel the rhythm
Head to toe
I know
We all must grow
But raise the curtain
Before the show
Do you feel
You've been mesmerized
Makin' a deal
To free you from your ties
It's all right
'Til you find out you've been flyin' solo
Solo
(Rusty Young)
Instrumental

Ain't it funny how a good day flies - when you're high
Makes you feel you're so together - you don't know why
It's such a difference from days gone by
And you wish it could go on forever
All I really wanna see is you - in the night
Give me somethin' to believe in - so hang on tight
Drive the devil right from my sight
And you wish it could go on forever
But I know I'm really not that clever
I could follow you here, I could follow you there
But what good would it do in the meantime?
If I said that I loved you would it really be fair?
If I didn't would it be a crime?
Guess we'll find out in time
Patience is the key while we're waiting in line
Find out in time - you can bet your last dime
We're gonna find out what we need in time
I could follow you here, I could follow you there...
Guess we'll find out in time...
(Richie Furay)
Today my First Love has arrived
Did you see her? Did you approve?
What if I asked this of you?
Would everything you'd say be true?
When I was young I played with toys
Games were small then, not so involved
My toys meant most of all
You know how kids are when they're small
But now today I find a lot has come to change my mind
It took some time to understand
Older people play little games in another way
Their castles crumble to sand
A lonely hour to withstand
Today my First Love is alone
Do you miss her? Is it so sad?
The tears you cry should be glad
Remembering her's not all that bad
Today my First Love is alone
(Paul Cotton)
Down in the quarterpast anybody's bedtime
Anybody anywhere who was halfway out his mind
I was sittin' in a Rock and roll bar
Down from another
Just on up the line
I was talkin' with a new found friend
Who lived his life
On river time
He was holdin' my attention I could
Almost hear the sound
How he ran on the Mississippi on a tug
From the up and down
He was rollin' like the river he could have
Gone on night and day
But I caught myself in midturn and I
Never looked away and
Could it ever happen again
Time awaiting the answer then
Lost and found in the city, New Orleans
Questions in her dark eyes I felt
She already knew
The answers bringing no surprise
Like a Spanish moon
She was grown up on the music
I could only hear at home
When she spoke on of the song I sang
And how it made her feel
So much less alone
Pickin' out the pictures that the tune
Brought in to mind
How it came to me that all along the song was
Her for all time
Could it ever happen again
Time awaiting the answer then
Down in the quarter, New Orleans
Down in the quarter, New Orleans
Down in the quarter, New Orleans
(Rusty Young)
Thought I'd seen it all before
No one could show me any more
Sunny skies and and lights so bright
Winter winds deep in the night
Then came a woman
Heaven must have sent
And like a fool
I never guessed it meant
My downfall, Down, Downfall
I never thought I'd fall at all
Downfall, Downfall
If anyone should ask you why
I keep starin' at the sky
Tell them how it used to be
Tell them how it was with me
Then came a woman
Heaven must have sent
And like a fool
I never guessed it meant
My downfall
Down, Downfall
I never thought I'd fall at all
Downfall, Downfall
Then came a woman...
Sittin' near ya, starin' at ya, saying nothing
Wonderin' if you're really you
And if I'm someone that you could know
Beyond the first hello
Eyes that search like the morning sun but never finding
Silently I can feel the glow and I'm not minding
But then you know I've been tryin' to show
Why it makes me cry, I'm talkin' it over from the inside
Something new and oh, so sacred
Grows within the depths of you
But still I just can't keep from wonderin'
For I'm but a child, too
Changes timelessly fill the spaces
It's so blind of me
I've seen the faces of a gifted few
Who can help us break our chains that bind
Thinkin' all the time, why I can't unwind?
You must feel the pain
Why it makes me cry, I'm talkin' it over from the inside
Something new and oh, so sacred
Grows within the depths of you
But still I just can't keep from wonderin'
For I'm but a child, too
Alright
In the beginning
Not so long ago
There were five country rockers
I saw the very first show
And I jumped up with the crowd
To give a standing hand
Livin', livin' in the band, yeah
Oh, livin'
There were two from Colorado
Texas and Nebraska too
Another came from Ohio
And they did not sing the blues
You had the feeling
They had nothing to lose
Livin', livin' in the band
Through the years and the changes
And with the will of a train
Some have parted strangers
Some have stayed in the game
And sooner or later
You've got a winning hand
Livin', livin' in the band
Oh, livin' in the band, yeah
Through the years and the changes
And with the will of a train
Some have parted strangers
Some have stayed in the game
And sooner or later
You've got a winning hand
Livin', livin' in the band, oh, livin'
Livin', livin' in the band
Livin', just livin' in the band, c'mon
Livin', livin' in the band
Livin', just livin' in the band
In the band
Livin', livin' in the band
Say, livin' just livin' in the band, alright
Livin', livin' in the band
I'm down the world
Slippin' away headin' out to L.A.
Gonna sing in the city tonight, tonight
Slippin' away headin' out to L.A.
Gonna sing in the city tonight
This rock 'n' roll feelin's got my head reelin'
A feelin' I know that is right
So c'mon let's dance, let's dance
And maybe if you like we could be just like
Old friends that new friends could like
'Cause only a few do what you can sure do
And only a few do it right
So c'mon let's dance, let's dance tonight, hey!
Just let me take you dancin', dancin'
In the moonlight the summer night, what a night
And baby while we're dancin', dancin'
We'll take our time to ease our minds and come alive
Yes baby while we're dancin', dancin'
We can sing while guitars screamin', we'll make a dream
Then maybe while we're dancin', dancin'
Remember then the feelin' when
We were slippin' away headin' out to L.A.
This rock 'n' roll feelin's got my head reelin'
A feelin' I know that is right
So c'mon let's dance, let's dance tonight
C'mon let's dance tonight
C'mon let's dance, let's dance tonight
Let's dance, let's dance
C'mon, c'mon, c'mon let's dance, let's dance tonight
(Paul Cotton)
I don't know you but I can feel you
In all the ways you get through these days
Bluer than blue
You're throwin' your dreams up
they all come fallin' down
Then you turn away It's another day
And it seems you're earthly bound
There is doubt in your eyes in ehat you say
And what you want to do
I want to be a surprise can you see it
In my eyes, oh
Let me turn back to you
Out in the light of the dark
There is always left a spark
And would it be all right
Can I see you tonight?
Oh let me turn back to you
I never questioned a smile
Only lasting for a while
Someone must play the fool
If there's a fire in your heart
Then it's time for us to start
Let me turn back to you
Out in the light of the dark
There is always left a spark
And would it be all right
Can I see you tonight?
Oh let me turn back to you
Let me turn back to you
Oh let me turn back to you
(Timothy B. Schmit)
Passing through I bring love to you
Let me see your smile
Though it seems so untrue, I'm standing
Right here beside you
Can I stay a while
I been too long feeling kinda low
Help me to follow through
From the start
'cause I can't seem to find a way to go
Is it for me to know my mind
In a place that holds no time
For a little while
'cause soon we must part
Passing through I bring love to you
Let me see your smile
Though it seems so untrue, I'm standing
Right here beside you
Can I stay a while
Firefly dance for you and I, and don't go
Leaving us hollow through
From the start
'cause moonlight don't seem right
When you're alone
Is it for you to know my mind
With a hope that you might find
Me with you sometime
But, soon we must part
Passing through I bring love to you
Let me see your smile
Though it seems so untrue, I'm standing
Right here beside you
Can I stay a while
I got a good reason for loving you
It's an old fashioned sigh
I kinda get the feelin' like, you know when
I fell in love the first time
Kind woman, won't you love me tonight?
I've seen the look in your eyes
Kind woman, don't leave me lonely tonight
Please say it's alright
Remember once before you're hearing the old folks say
Love's an ageless old rhyme
But now a days you know the sayin' depends so much on
The kind of woman that you find
Kind woman, won't you love me tonight?
I've seen the look in your eyes
Kind woman, don't leave me lonely tonight
Won't you say it's alright
Kind woman, won't you love me tonight?
I've seen the look in your eyes
Kind woman, don't leave me lonely tonight
Somebody called the keeper of the fire
Holy smoke, I hope he ain't no liar
'Cause I've heard tell that while we're sleeping
All is well and safely keeping, we're only seeking
Then it came a morning, we were feeling just the same
Caring less, let it snow itself to rain
Easy summer, and we're hung out high and dry
Somebody save us from this feeling, feeling in our eyes
Lookin' out there was a new light burnin'
I turned about, everyone there kept on turnin'
Came on through like a childhood yearnin'
Somebody called the keeper of the fire
Holy smoke, I surely hope he ain't no liar
'Cause I've heard tell that while we're sleeping
All is well and safely keeping, we're only seeking
Lookin' out there was a new light burnin'
I turned about, everyone there kept on turnin'
Came on through like a childhood yearnin'
Lookin' out there was a new light burnin'
I turned about, everyone there kept on turnin'
Came on through like a childhood yearnin'
Lookin' out there was a new light burnin'
I turned about, everyone there kept on turnin'
Came on through like a childhood yearnin'
Lookin' out there was a new light burnin'
I turned about, everyone there kept on turnin'
Came on through like a childhood yearnin'
I've been thinkin' 'bout
All the times you told me
You're so full of doubt
You just can't let it be
But I know
If you keep on comin' back for more
Then I'll keep on tryin'
I’ll keep on tryin'
And I've been drinkin' now
Just a little too much
And I don't know how
I can get in touch with you
Now there's only one thing
For me to do, that's to
Keep on tryin’
To get home to you
And I feel so satisfied when
I can see you smile, I
I want to confide in
All that is true, so I'll
Keep on tryin' I'm
Through with lyin'
Just like the sun above
I'll come shinin’, through
Oh yes I'll
Keep on tryin', I'm
Tired of cryin'
I got to find a way
To get on home to you
I've been thinkin' 'bout
All the times you held me
I never heard you shout
The flow of energy was so fine
Now I think I'll lay it on the line
And keep on tryin'
To get home to you
And I feel so satisfied when
I can see you smile, I
I want to confide in
All that is true, so I'll
Keep on tryin', I'm
Through with lyin'
Just like the sun above
I'll come shinin’, through
Yes I will
Oh yes I'll
Keep on tryin', I'm
Tired of cryin'
I got to find a way
Don't tell me we're goin' down a oneway
Hear me, somebody, would ya like to
Take the time to find ourselves a new way,
Hear me, somebody, could ya try to?
Ah, changes stranded in fear
But keep on believin' keepin' it clear
Good times will fin'lly arrive
It's been so long, come along, come on along.
Don't tell me we got no right to be choosin'
Hear me, somebody, are ya sure now?
If you think the way we're goin' ain't confusin'
Hear me, somebody, take a look now.
Look at the changes stranded in fear
But keep on believin' keepin' it clear,
Good times will fin'lly arrive,
It's been so long, come along, come on along.
Don't tell me that it's gettin' down to bleedin'
Hear me, somebody, where are we goin'?
When ev'ry day has the answer to the question
Don't ya know it's been showin'?
Ah, changes stranded in fear
But keep on believin' keepin' it clear
Good times will fin'lly arrive
It's been so long, come along, come on along
(Timothy B. Schmit)
Everybody says you look like a dove
I agree
I think I know what they're thinkin' of
But every time they tell me you don't know how to love
Don't you know
I know that you're just tickin' it off
Just like me
And every time you call you have given it up
You refuse
To let yourself drink from the cup
It's easy to see for you times have been tough
But don't you know
I know that you're just callin' your own bluff
Don't you ever look around?
You're not the only one who's lost but could be found
Just like me
Late at night you're thinkin' you're crazy
But you really know better
Just like me
People try to tell you that you're heavy
But you're light as a feather
Just like me
I came home on Monday you were hangin' around
Not alone
Of which I didn't know then I found
That if I choose to see with my eyes to the ground
Well don't you know
I might as well be tied up and then bound
You were handed such a prize
I can onmly hope that you came outr more the wise
Just like me
Late at night you're thinkin' you're crazxy
But you're light as a feather
Just like me
People try to tell you that you're heavy
But you're light as a feather
(Richie Furay)
What does it matter to me that you've gone
The memory's all in a dream
And though it seems I ought to be
With a good night's yawn, the heartache is gone
Yes Indeed
For lovin' you I have been such a fool
Hardly knowin' the game or the rules
Nothin' for me could I see except for your teasin'
I guess I was just dreamin'
Holdin' onto promises from you
What does it matter to me that you've gone
The memory's all in a dream
And though it seems I ought to be
With a good night's yawn, the heartache is gone
Yes Indeed
Just In Case It Happens, you see
I have paid all my dues faithfully
Now the peace of mind I feel inside is worth the misgivings
There's a new beginning clingin' in my head
The rest of it's been said
What does it matter to me that you've gone
The memory's all in a dream
And though it seems I ought to be
With a good night's yawn, the heartache is gone
Yes Indeed
The heartache is gone
Yes Indeed
(Rusty Young)
Instrumental
You asked me to read this letter
That you wrote the night before
And you really should know better
'Cause she's worth a whole lot more
Brother you know you can't run away and hide
Is it you don't want to see her cry
Is that why you don't go and say goodbye
Go and say goodbye
Then you said the fault was yours
And you really was to blame
Was as if to close the door
And to hide away in shame
Brother you know you can't run away and hide
Is it you don't want to see her cry
Is that why you don't go and say goodbye
Go and say goodbye
Yes and why tell me why
Can't you see that it's not right
It's a lie, it's a lie
Don't hide your sorrow in the night
Brother you know you can't run away and hide
Is it you don't want to see her cry
Is that why you don't go and say goodbye
Go and say goodbye [Incomprehensible]
Yes and why tell me why
Can't you see that it's not right
It's a lie, it's a lie
Don't hide your sorrow in the night
Brother you know you can't run away and hide
Is it you don't want to see her cry
Is that why you don't go and say, don't go and say
Don't go and say goodbye
Brother you know you can't run away and hide
Is it you don't want to see her cry
Is that why you don't go, you don't go and
Cryin' doesn't ease the pain
When the fire is gone, when the weak break the strong
There's no danger, when a heart is cold
But if I stay alone, mine will soon turn to stone
I know, girl you're not the only one
Who's lookin' for someone to hold
The look in your eyes ain't the same anymore
Somethin' has changed deep inside
We both know it's right, what are we waitin' for?
There's no holdin' back
'Cause with you I've got nothin' to hide
Sleepin' on a bed of lies
I've been lonely too long now the hurt is all gone
You were waitin' for me to come around
How could I be so blind not to see in your mind?
And your heart, you've always been the only one
Believin' in me all along
Girl, the look in your eyes ain't the same anymore
Somethin' has changed deep inside
We both know it's right, what are we waitin' for?
There's no holdin' back
'Cause with you I've got nothin' to hide
Girl, the look in your eyes ain't the same anymore
Somethin' has changed deep inside
We both know it's right, what are we waitin' for?
There's no holdin' back
Here I sit in my room
Nobody here but me and a simple tune
Hope you roll on in with the risin' moon
I wanna stay with you all night
Wanna stay with you night until noon - yes I do
Sayin' nothin', but feelin' strong
I'm a pretend poet with half a song
Hope you keep your word, wanna see you soon
I wanna stay with you all night
Wanna stay with you night until noon
Baby can you stay - stay until the break of day
I wanna feel your body sway
We can let them say what they want to
They can talk themselves into shades of blue
Baby I got lots of room
Wanna stay with you night until noon
We can let them say what they want to
They can talk themselves into shades of blue
Baby I got lots of room
Wanna stay with you night until noon
And my sometime friends say "Son' you better come around -
Get your feet back on the ground,
She's tryin' to fool ya... She only wants to do ya..."
Why are they so bent on bringing me down?
Here I'll sit and here I'll stay
And I'll be right here till you come my way
Someting's in the air - just about to bloom
I wanna stay with you all night
Wanna stay with you night until noon
Baby can you stay - stay until the break of day...
Now and then you see me falling, way behind the things I need to do
Don't you believe I've missed my calling, I'm just the one to play your fool
Chorus:
Under the gun, under the gun, I'm down and crawlin' like I've never done
Under the gun, under the gun, standing in my own way and nowhere to run
Waited so long it felt like a lifetime and looking up just seemed so far away
Between these walls I live on the bottom line
It's just enough to get me through the day
(chorus)
(Solo)
Now and then you see me falling, way behind the things I need to do
Don't you believe I've missed my calling, I'm just the one to play your fool
Well, it won't be long now until that old sun goes down
And darkness helps me hide my shameful tears
My wife works all night long for a man who's halfway gone
She's a barmaid in the Honky Tonk downstairs
It's a shame she wears the name of a man that's locked and chained
To a bottle that's destroyed all hopes and cares
To the men with hungry eyes she works and hides her pride
She's a barmaid in the Honky Tonk downstairs
It's a shame she wears the name of a man that's locked and chained
To a bottle that's destroyed all hopes and cares
To the men with hungry eyes she works and hides her pride
She's a barmaid in the Honky Tonk downstairs
(Paul Cotton)
How Many Moons
How Many Moons
Has it been since I've seen your face
Seems like forever
Seems like I'll never
Ever get back to that place
Where it all began and the time just ran on through
How Many Moons must there be before I see you?
How many days
How many ways
Have I imagined I've heard your voice
Seems like a dream
I'm caught in between
And for me there is no other choice
But to get in the wind once more time again
I'm not livin' too well like this
How Many Moons must I be away from your kiss
She brings the spirit how I can hear it
The spirit of romance
Something to believe in I want to give in
With every golden chance
How many times
So fresh in my mind
I see my hands run all over you
Beautiful dream
I'm caught in between
Guess I'll never be through
Wishin' on the moon
I'm wishin' on the moon
(Richie Furay)
Here I sit with like
The day has got no hours
I feel it kinda easy, tho' 'cause I'm lazy
It's a good day for showers
So, don't worry whatever
I might do, no hurry,
For I've been a telling you I'm feeling just fine.
And I really couldn't care less this time
How many more will there be?
Hurry up now tell me.
Patience is a virtue
As rewarding as a new love in spring
But suddenly forgotten when a man
Gets caught in his own dream
Outspoken faces again beware
The token of wine in a glass
Could dare you just enough
Who's joking? And when should I call your bluff?
How many more will there be?
Hurry up now tell me
Here I sit with like
The day has got no hours
I feel it kinda easy, tho' 'cause I'm lazy
It's a good day for showers
So, don't worry whatever
I might do, no hurry,
For I've been a telling you I'm feeling just fine.
And I really couldn't care less this time
How many more will there be?
Hurry up now tell me.
Patience is a virtue
As rewarding as a new love in spring
But suddenly forgotten when a man
Gets caught in his own dream
Outspoken faces again beware
The token of wine in a glass
Could dare you just enough
Who's joking? And when should I call your bluff?
How many more will there be?
Hurry up now tell me.
If it seems to you that I am fading
Everytime I try to talk to you
The words I'm speaking distort the view
And then I end up thinkin' what can I do
Now you're slippin' away for a new
Always hoping that the day will come
When I can face it, won't have to run
When all there has been is yet to come
When I don't hide my face from the sun, and I know it's myself it's not you
I can see everything, it's all in your smile that brings
All of the special things about you
If you could feel the way that I do today we could
Find us a better way to get through
Everytime I climb into your eyes
I get so wasted and hypnotized
But there is one thing you can't disguise
That you're slippin' away for a new
Baby if I could control the time
Then I could stop it and redifine
Just what is real and how I've been so blind
I could put all the words into rhyme, and I know it's myself it's not you
I can see everything, it's all in your smile that brings
All of the special things about you
If you could feel the way that I do today we could
Find us a better way to get through
(R. Furay)
There you was a-standin' with your feelings hurt
Who was to blame? Oh no, it can't be you,
You're much too cool to scar your name.
Ah, what you did to me when I needed you,
A trick, then a smile; you hurt me;
When will you be through
You're just thinking of you
Who's your next fool?
Don't look now but turn around
And ask the mirror on the wall,
Why is it that I made it here;
You know I can't recall.
Don't be surprised if it just laughs back at you
For who could you kid when you know
You went to a rare school,
You made up your own rules
You're the next fool
There you was a-standin' with your feelings hurt
Who was to blame? Oh no, it can't be you,
You're much too cool to scar your name.
Ah, what you did to me when I needed you,
A trick, then a smile; you hurt me;
When will you be through
You're just thinking of you
Who's your next fool?
(Timothy B. Schmit)
I picked up my things and I said goodbye
Mmmm, I did it with such a sigh
Walked outside, tirned my eyes to the window pane
Yeah, saw you smilin' face once again
I ain't never felt like this before
Like a soldier goin' off to war
And I knew I had to come back for more
And I said
I'll be back again
Yes, I will
Sure can't say just when
But I know
I'll be back again
Back to be with a new friend
I can't believe it's the end.
I'm makin' my way back to L.A. town
I'm not sure if I feel up or down
There you stand, hand in hand, waiting patiently
I wonder if you'll smile on me
I ain't never felt like this before
Like a soldier comin' home from war
But soon I'll have to walk out the door
And I'll say
I'll be back again . . . mmm
Sure can't say just when
But I know
I'll be back again
Back to be with a new friend
I can't believe it's the end.
Everytime I see you I just can't believe my eyes
And It would come as no surprise
If I was fillin' my head full of lies
I'll be back again
Yes I will
Sure can't say just when
But I know
I'll be back again
Back to be with a new friend
Here I come
There's a full moon in the sky
It's got a hold on me, I'm hypnotized
Like your love it's getting stronger
Please keep my heart a little longer
Indian summer is on it's way
It's cool at night and hot all day
Ain't no black clouds filled with rain
Santa and wind blew them all to Maine
Baby takes my hand
She says she understands
About the way I feel
She knows this love is real
I'm a wide open spaced cowboy
I got lazy ways, I got some hidden joy
Motorcycle and tons of R.P.M
Ain't gonna wait around till it's here again
Baby takes my hand
She says she understands
About the way I feel
She knows my love is real
And Indian summer is on it's way
It's cool at night and hot all day
There ain't no black clouds filled with rain
Santa and wind blew them all to Maine
Blew them all to Maine
(Timothy B. Schmit/Noreen Schmit)
Just call my name
Baby can't you see something's wrong?
Ain't it a shame
All those old time feeling's gone?
Right or wrong
I know it takes us all so long to realize
How we just get ourselves so lost
in our lies
There's no time to cry.
You hold me near
I don't even need to be told
I feel your touch
And it brings a chill to my soul
Your love is cold
How do you live with all your secrets
And lies?
How does it feel to live a life of disguise
Yoy know it ain't right?
Hey, it ain't right
I keep telling you
It ain't right
When you're teasing
There's a light
If you can reach it
It starts when you think it's the end
Just call my name
Baby can't you see what we've done?
You turn and hide
Don't you know that I want to run?
See the sun
We've tried so many times
You know that it's true
I'm asking what more do you want
Me to do
When it's all up to you -
Hey, it ain't right
I keep telling you
It ain't right
When you're teasing
There's a light
If you can reach it
It starts when you think it's the end.
Mmm, wish that I could come
With the mornin' sun
Shinin' through your window
I could be the one
To open up your day
Ooh, words can't begin to say
Feelings that are hidden in
In such a special way
And they're just for me and you
Night time comes searchin' blindly
Been needin' some lovin' and I find me
Followin' my heart back to you
Mmm, how it reminds me
That I need no other lover
This feelin' is like no other
And though I can't be with you now
Let this song be another
That's just for me and you
So let my heart go on a-singin'
Yeah, let my song go on a-bringin'
To you lovin' that you know is
In my heart and clingin'
To days that passed on by
Need we stop, though, to wonder why
You know I love you, baby
And the tears in my eyes
Are just for me and you
Yes, they are
(Richie Furay)
What does it matter to me that you've gone
The memory's all in a dream
And though it seems odd to be
With a good night yawn, the heartache is gone
Yes Indeed
For lovin' you I have been such a fool (fool)
Hardly knowin' the game or the rules
Nothin' for me could I see except for your teasin'
I guess I was just dreamin'
Holdin' onto promises from you
(Repeat first verse)
Just In Case It Happens, you see
I have paid all my dues faithfully
Now the peace of mind I'll feel in time is worth the misgiving
A new beginnin's clingin' in my head
The rest of it's been said
(Repeat first verse)
You got me turnin' to the left
You got me twisted to the right
Woman all I'm askin' is
Is anything all right?
You got me waiting in the day
I'm waiting long into the night
Baby don't you hear me say
Hey, is anything all right
With the ball in your court
You gotta cut me short
When there's nothin' left to lose
Ain't I the one you use?
I'm going down to the very last inning
I'm getting out, it was a tough beginning
No time to take maybe one last shot
Too late to find my blood running hot
CHORUS:
From a whisper to a shout
Ain't I the Odd Man Out
From a whisper to a shout
And I'm the Odd Man Out
We were together livin' separately
Like a VCR without a TV screen
One more day, one more bad habit
Three words to say, that's all: "I've had it"
REPEAT CHORUS
If I had my way tonight, I would surely change your mind
You might be surprised at what you see
I know I don't look the part, don't turn it off before it starts
I can hear your heart talkin' to me
I'm not a stone that's been polished and shined
I'm not the diamond that you had in mind
I can't hide it, you get what you see
I've got a lot of rough edges on me
Carnegie or Albert Hall, you don't need no crystal ball
You know you'll never catch me in that scene
I like my music way up loud, the house is rockin' when I go out
The midnight hour that's where I want to be
I'm not a stone that's been polished and shined
I'm not the diamond that you had in mind
I can't hide it, you get what you see
I've got a lot of rough edges on me
I'm not a stone that's been polished and shined
I'm not the diamond that you had in mind
I can't hide it, you get what you see
Are you sad
That I'm leavin'?
Baby, bye byes
Aren't always pleasin'
Would you come along
If I was needin'
And down on my knees
Long enough for pleadin'?
But anyway bye bye
Many thoughts
Have passed between us
Words aren't made clear
They become meaning, meaningless
I gotta get away from here
I'm tossin' in sleeplessness
Wonderin' who
Has the right to happiness
I got to clear my head
Changes that I dread
Are waitin' for me
Waitin' for me
But anyway bye bye
I got to clear my head
Changes that I dread
Are waitin' for me
Waitin' for me
Dark as night, cold and lonely
Rides the horse that's known as only 'Thunder Road'
Icy fingers hold the reins
While hoofs come poundin' so insanely on and on
Eyes that dance like burnin' embers
All the county still remembers who you are
Did she love you like they say?
And did she really run away and leave you here?
Ride the wind tonight
You'll find her there
No more racin'
With the damp night air
Down the road to Whitman's Crossing
Underneath the widow blossoms soft and green
Covered by the crimson shawl
And hidden by the leaves that fall down to the ground
Midnight comes and midnight goes
In between the moonlight shadows veiled in tears
Ride the wind tonight
You'll find her there
No more racin'
With the damp night air
Ride the wind tonight
You'll find her there
No more racin'
With the damp night air
Oh, find the road
Going now down the road
And take you down from the road
Gotta [Incomprehensible]
Move and move [Incomprehensible]
Move me down from the road
All you cowboys and your ladies
Take your boots off, they'll drive you crazy
When you come to town take a look around
Yes, you're off of your horse
You can set your soghts on a stronger course
And I mean you and everybody too
Can you come on through
Come on through
Politicians and your writers
Trading people's dreams you've got moon blindness
While you're reaching up for the winner's cub
Keep your feet on the ground
And your ears on what is coming down
And I mean you and everybody too
Can you come on through
Come on through
All you singers and your lovely songs
Try so very hard to make them all belong
Some get taken, others forsaken
We keep a'movin' a right along
And how about you and everybody too?
Can you come on through
I remember when, ooh, I met you
I let you say what was on your mind
My mind weren't weak
Two young lovers, yes baby, it was you and me
You sang a sweet, sweet song
I thought the feeling was inside
I was not aware that you was
Taking me for a ride
Ooh, slow down the weather's hazy
Baby, you're drivin' me crazy
You know nobody ever gets home a ridin' free
And you'll never find another man, a man like me
Yes I remember when, ooh, I met you
You was only too kind to show me the way
You seemed to me like no other
It was innocent love that made me believe
Now down that long, long road
We have come yet to begin
Take some, try to get some love and then you better
Take some again
Ooh slow down, the weather's hazy
Baby, you're drivin' me crazy
You know nobody ever gets home a ridin' free
And you'll never find another man, a man like me
Ooh slow down, the weather's hazy
Baby, you're drivin' me crazy
You know nobody ever gets home a ridin' free
Wasn't that me
In the lead tonight
Still a little behind
But I'll be alright
Ridin' down hard
Who do you think you are
In the lead tonight
I'm livin' with the hurt
I wrecked a thirty dollar shirt
It's the rule of the west
When you ride with the best
You can live with the hurt
I ride everything
They put under me
Ride real good
In bad company
Don't feel no pain
For I will regain the lead tonight
I'm livin' with the hurt
I wrecked a thirty dollar shirt
It's the rule of the west
When you ride with the best
You can live with the hurt
It's been one for the cowboys
And three for the bulls
Anyway I see it
I got my hands full
Don't feel the pain
(Timothy B. Schmit)
You're a woman - you're a child
Sometimes you're weak and then you're wild
And I just can't understand
'Cuz I'm a boy who plays the part of a man, now
It's not hard to see
Must be the way it was meant to be
You keep me guessin' all the time
You play the fool and then you shine
Can I meet you in between?
'Cuz you know we could both do without a scene, now
I don't mean to blame you
I got some work of my own to do
Ooh - We could tear it down and build it up again
I'm talkin' 'bout you and me, first of all, learnin'
And maybe then we can make amends
We could follow it through to the very end - it's true
I'm talkin' 'bout me and you
Me and you
We could tear it down and build it up again...
I wish I could say
All my fears fall away
With the sands in the hourglass
But you know it ain't so
I'm holdin' on tight
'Cause I know when it's right
There'll be a woman
Burnin' in my soul
Don't you know I can feel it, feel it deep inside
Pretty soon you'll find it showin' in my eyes
I can't keep from feelin' you and I were meant for
Makin' love
You're on my mind
And it seems that I'm
Thinkin' of moments
Alone with you
Hard as it seems
You can see what it means
Woman you know I'm
Losin' my heart
Don't you know I can feel it, feel it deep inside
Pretty soon you'll find it showin' in my eyes
I can't keep from feelin' you and I were meant for
Makin' love
I can feel it, feel it deep inside
Pretty soon you'll find it showin' in my eyes
I can't keep from feelin' you and I were meant for
Makin' love
Don't you know I can feel it, feel it deep inside
(R. Furay/J. Messina)
Maybe someday I can trade you a smile
Makin' love, a dream that's worthwhile
I've been watchin' you like a mother and child
What you're feelin', oh
What you're feelin'
Make Me A Smile
Yellow ribbons stream through your hair
Such a feelin', now, don't leave me there
You make it so hard for me not to stare
What you're feelin', oh
What you're feelin'
Please make me aware
BRIDGE:
Lover, come on, I can see suddenly
Changes in you, you're smilin' at me
Lover, belong only to me
Arrange your sweet tune to make harmony
(Repeat bridge)
(Repeat first verse)
Ol' forgiver
You're a true life giver
When I'm cold
Warm me when I shiver
Ol' forgiver
When I'm runnin' you down
Now ain't you the clown
I'm chasing, madly embracing
You got me laughing inside
At the happy face I'm facing
Ol' forgiver
You wear it all on the outside
You're quiet and unspoken
And I take it as a token
That I'll be broken
Long before you will be
Yeah, you'll see
You're quiet and unspoken
And I take it as a token
That I'll be broken
Long before you will be
Yeah, you'll see
Ol' forgiver
You bring a day that is lasting
Still it's slowly slowly drifting by
For the lucky son of an unknown mother
Ol' forgiver
Come on and fill my eyes
Ol' forgiver
I see you fillin' up, fillin' up my eyes
Ol' forgiver
(R. Furay/J. Messina)
Bein' at most just a country boy innocent and all
I turned my face away from the farm, on the city I would call
Hey, what's doin' in the town of fortune and fame?
Bright lights a-glowin', I've come to make my name
You see I've got my ol' guitar, I'm not a beggin' fool
I play this town and a thousand more (God knows)
God knows I keep my cool
So what's a missin'? I've given my word the best
And I'm downright grateful, for Oh Yeah, my life's been blessed
CHORUS
My my, can't you see the warnin'
When the fires burn in hell you better pay
Oh Yeah it's gonna get you in the mornin'
Now's your chance you better get away
Stayed awake 'most all last night, just couldn't get to sleep
So many things sittin' on my brain, yes, I need a chance to think
But I've been told not to worry, everything's gonna be all right
Oh, mama, won't you tell me, why did I leave that night?
Seems like it's been ages ago now since I come to town
Ain't much changed, every face is the same
Oh, people just a-hangin' round
So I'm a-leavin' this mornin', gonna go back home today
And let me tell you, buddy, turn around if you're fixin' to stay
You better go on back today
My my, can't you see the warnin'
When the fires burn in hell you better pay
Oh Yeah it's gonna get you in the mornin'
Now's your chance you better get away
My my, can't you see the warnin'
When the fires burn in hell you better pay
Oh Yeah it's gonna get you in the mornin'
Now's your chance you better get away
I know I'm in over my head
I'm walkin' a fine line
Tryin' not to be the one who falls
In and out this time
I'm just gonna hold my breath
Close my eyes and pray
I'm not gonna worry now
Tomorrow's too far away when
People say that it can never last
Heaven will just slip out of our grasp
People don't believe a day goes by
We don't end up saying our goodbyes
What do people know
What do people know
There's always been
A chance you and I
Won't last forever
We've been in and out of love before
I'll never say never
I'm just gonna hold my breath
Close my eyes and pray
I'm not gonna worry now
Tomorrow's too far away when
People say that it can never last
Heaven will just slip out of our grasp
People don't believe a day goes by
We don't end up saying our goodbyes
What do people know
Cryin' doesn't ease the pain
There's no holdin' back
(Paul Cotton)
Pleasure seeker new love reaper
I've heard tell you're quite
A nighttime keeper
Will you ever find the sun
Maybe never in a ten-day run
Painted faces forgotten bootlaces
Ain't it all the same in the
Brand-new places
So we dance between the lights
Taking a chance to make it right -
Make it right
Na na na na na na -- oh oh oh
She's an angel and she loves to
Spread her wings
I'm a stranger here but I love
the song she sings
Heaven knows that I can feel you
And all the ways that you
Come on through
My lady blue
Na na na...
Here I am singin' my song to you now
I want you to listen yeah, yes
I want you to listen
Makin' my time go by, makin' you smile
I been thinkin' of you yeah, yes
I been thinkin' of you
And settlin' down, oh
Back on the road again, here I'm alone again
Hotel ain't home no, no, no
Hotel ain't home
Worn out faces, don't care what the pace is
I miss my woman yeah, yes
I miss my woman
And settlin' down
She's hummin' another sound
I hear the music in my ear
Here I am singin' my song to you now
I want you to listen yeah, yes
I want you to listen
Makin' my time go by, makin' you smile
I been thinkin' of you yeah, yes
I been thinkin' of you
And settlin' down
But she's hummin' another sound
(Richie Furay)
Look up, wake up
The sun is shinin'
No it's not tomorrow
It's today.
Stand up, make up
For what you're finding
'Cause anyone who's turned around
And lost his way
Is looking for you.
You are the one
Who only needs to show a smile.
You are the one
Who can make any day be worthwhile.
You are the one.
You are the one.
Shameless, tameless
Are ways about you
And changing them now
Would seem unreal.
Nameless, aimless
Who shouldn't doubt you
I wonder if you really know
What you feel
Hey, I'm talkin' to you.
You are the one
Who only needs to show a smile.
You are the one
Who can make any day be worthwhile.
You are the one.
(Paul Cotton)
Did you hear that telephone ring?
You'd better get ready and pack your things
It's time to be going out again
Kiss the ladies goodbye, wipe the tears
From their pretty eyes.
You'll be back sometime, but you don't
Know when
Moving on and on through the country
Moving on and on in the towns
Things are getting better in the towns for
You and me.
I wanna make it last another time around.
About an hour down the rood
Remember how good it was to go
Chalk it up to the best of all times
And all those hours on the plane,
A million miles on your brain.
No cause to wonder if it's still a good time
Moving on and on through the country
Moving on and on in the towns,
Things ore getting better in the towns for
You and me.
I wanna make it last another time around.
You hear the telephone ring
You'd better get ready and pack your things
Oh it's time to be going out again.
Kiss the ladies goodbye, wipe the tears
From their pretty eyes
You'll be back sometime but you don't
know when
Moving on and on through the country
Moving on and on in the towns
Things are getting better in the towns for
You and me
I wanna make it last another time around
I wanna make it last another time around
(John J. Cale)
Whippoorwill's singing, soft summer breeze;
Makes me think of my baby left down in New Orleans,
I left down in New Orleans
Magnolia you sweet thing, you're driving me mad
Got to get back to you, baby;
You're the best I ever had;
You're the best I ever had;
You whisper, ";Good Morning"; so gently in my ear;
I'm coming to you baby;
I'll soon be there
I'll soon be there
Seems to me I'm fallin'
And I can't believe my eyes
Don't you know it's love
I'm tryin' to disguise
But I must confess that
No one else but you
Satisfies my mind so
What else can I do?
Here I go fallin' in love
Just knowin' that you'll always care
Your lovin' arms
Will hold me there
Spent some time in learnin'
Run from what you feel
Now you got me stumblin'
Head over heels
Plain to see it's trouble
Yellin' what to do
Sneakin' up on me and
All because of you
Here I go fallin' in love
Just knowin' that you'll always care
Your lovin' arms
Will hold me there
Seems to me I'm fallin'
And I can't believe my eyes
Don't you know it's love
I'm tryin' to disguise
But I must confess that
No one else but you
Satisfies my mind so
What else can I do?
Here I go fallin' in love
Just knowin' that you'll always care
Your lovin' arms
Will hold me there
Here I go fallin' in love
Just knowin' that you'll always care
Your lovin' arms
(Rusty Young)
All the ways of your love
The hurt and tears to cry
I sit and count the reasons why I ever
Fall in love.
It seems so simple to me.
I know just how it should be
You take my lovin', so carelessly
I keep on hoping someday you'll understand
A heart that is breaking and keeps waiting
For you
And, All the ways of your love
The hurt and tears to cry
I sit and count the reasons why I ever fall
In love
When we're together you treat me like a child
You only tell me, what you think you should.
What if tomorrow I was blown out of your life?
How would you find your way, with no one
To show you
All the ways of your love
The hurt and tears to cry
I sit and count the reasons why I ever
Fall in love
All the time that's passed us by
Could it be that I could find
Hearts that act so blind
And never even try
All the ways
(Paul Cotton)
If you see me fallin'
By the wayside callin'
Pick me up and let me start again
This old road has a way
Of takin' me down a little each day
And I can't see my way around the bend
All the things I like to take
Cost so much more than I make
And it's hard keepin' even either way
And so I'm headed for the bar
Or another round of cards
And like the game we play it as they lay
And we're all alone together
On a road that seems forever
To be takin' you from yours and me from mine
And though we know just where we're goin'
There are changes that ain't showin'
Night and day become the same fine line
Night and day become the same fine line
