The National Football League (NFL) is the highest level of professional American football in the United States, and is considered the top professional American football league globally. It was formed by eleven teams in 1920 as the American Professional Football Association, with the league changing its name to the National Football League in 1922. The league currently consists of thirty-two teams from the United States. The league is divided evenly into two conferences – the American Football Conference (AFC) and National Football Conference (NFC), and each conference has four divisions that have four teams each, for a total of 16 teams in each conference. The NFL is an unincorporated 501(c)(6) association, a federal nonprofit designation, comprising its 32 teams.
The regular season is a seventeen-week schedule during which each team plays sixteen games and has one bye week. The season currently starts on the Thursday night in the first full week of September and runs weekly to late December or early January. At the end of each regular season, six teams from each conference (at least one from each division) play in the NFL playoffs, a twelve-team single-elimination tournament that culminates with the championship game, known as the Super Bowl. This game is held at a pre-selected site which is usually a city that hosts an NFL team.

I have no idea when, where, or even IF this ever aired on television, but if it did, it had to have been during the week leading up to the Super Bowl. It may have aired on FOX hours before kickoff that day, but I have no data to support this. The point is, watch this if only for the wonderful slow-motion film sequences and brilliant synchronization with orchestral music, tropes that NFL Films is known for. Again, I have no idea when, where, or even IF this ever aired on television, but if it did, it had to have been during the week leading up to the Super Bowl. It may have aired on NBC hours before kickoff that day, but I have no data to support this. Opinion: For an NFL Films production, this is very, very shoddy. There are numerous editing errors, way too many damn visual puns, and even Earl Mann's narration was irritatingly slow. In fact, in one sequence, they show Kordell Stewart making a touchdown run, where they cut to a shot of Kordell from the previous year (as evident by the numbering on his jersey) running down the sideline, then cut back to a shot of Kordell in the Steelers' current jersey running down the middle of the field. Definitely not NFL Films' best work.http://wn.com/NFL_Films_-_Road_to_Super_Bowl_XXXII_(1998)

I was almost positive that it had to be on Standard Music album ESL 117 since the piece uses an organ, and Tim Mycroft is the only composer I know that used an organ in pieces used by NFL Films (the other track being 'Collision Course'). For 6 months I couldn't find this album, but Allan Hutchen told me to check with Walter Douglas, and sure enough, he had a copy of the album. And, sure enough, the track was on there! This find was a true TEAM effort. Thanks everyone! -

A highlight film of the 2004-2005 National Football League season, leading up to the conference championship games. Though the Super Bowl itself is not shown, as this was produced the week prior to the big game, the New England Patriots won the championship that year over the Philadelphia Eagles. This came off of a Super Bowl XXXI-XL DVD collection I own. It most likely aired on FOX hours before the Super Bowl was played. Personally speaking, this was the year I got into football, and it was crazy. This was at the height of the AFC's dominance over the NFC, as only four NFC teams even finished with a winning record. Even crazier, the two playoff teams that snuck in with 8-8 record (the Rams and Vikings) both won in the first round. Living in Dover, DE, where most of the fans root for the Eagles, it was pretty exciting seeing them finally reach the Super Bowl, even if they came up short. Also, some of the most excellent musical tracks from the NFL Network series "America's Game" make early-bird cameos in this film.

A highlight film of the 1996-97 National Football League season, leading up to the conference championship games. This came off of a Super Bowl XXXI-XL DVD collection I own. I have no idea when, where, or even IF this ever aired on television, but if it did, it had to have been during the week leading up to the Super Bowl. It may have aired on FOX hours before kickoff that day, but I have no data to support this. The point is, watch this if only for the wonderful slow-motion film sequences and brilliant synchronization with orchestral music, tropes that NFL Films is known for. On top of that, enjoy one of the craziest years in NFL history, where two second-year expansion teams made it to the conference championships, some nobody named Terry Allen led the league in rushing touchdowns, and the Baltimore Ravens actually had the worst pass defense of all teams. A Football Life S04 E08 Ricky Williams Full Episode NFL Films, Full Episode NFL Films, Full Episode NFL Films "Ricky Williams" A Football Life, NFL Films "Ricky Williams" A Football Life Full Episode Today, Documentary, NFL, NFL Documentary Errick Lynne "Ricky" Williams, Jr. (born May 21, 1977) is a retired American football running back who played eleven seasons in the National Football League (NFL) and one season in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football for the University of Texas, where he was a two-time All-American and won the Heisman Trophy. He was drafted by the New Orleans Saints fifth overall in the 1999 NFL Draft and spent three seasons with the team before he was traded to the Miami Dolphins in 2002. He played for the Dolphins for three seasons, and retired for the first time from football in 2004. Due to his suspension from the NFL in 2006, he played for the Toronto Argonauts in 2006. He re-joined the Dolphins in 2007 and played with them until 2010, and spent the 2011 season with the Baltimore Ravens. He is now an assistant football coach at the University of the Incarnate Word.

For this film and each edition of Road to the Super Bowl until XL (except for XXXVIII, for some reason), Jim Birdsall, who may also be known for his work at CNBC, takes over narration duties from Earl Mann. While I like most of Mann's work, I personally love Birdsall's narration, almost as much as that of Facenda and Kalas.

Again, I have no idea when, where, or even IF this ever aired on television, but if it did, it had to have been during the week leading up to the Super Bowl. It may have aired on NBC hours before kickoff that day, but I have no data to support this. Opinion: For an NFL Films production, this is very, very shoddy. There are numerous editing errors, way too many damn visual puns, and even Earl Mann's narration was irritatingly slow. In fact, in one sequence, they show Kordell Stewart making a touchdown run, where they cut to a shot of Kordell from the previous year (as evident by the numbering on his jersey) running down the sideline, then cut back to a shot of Kordell in the Steelers' current jersey running down the middle of the field. Definitely not NFL Films' best work.

Though the Super Bowl itself is not shown, as this was produced the week prior to the big game, the St. Louis Rams won the championship that year over the Tennessee Titans in the most dramatic finish in Super Bowl history. This came off of a Super Bowl XXXI-XL DVD collection I own. It aired on ABC hours before the Super Bowl was played. Much of the footage used in this film was used for the opening sequence to NFL 2K1 for the Sega Dreamcast.

Music from various NFL Films highlight shows, including 1971 Dolphins. I'd been trying to get a hold of this piece for 6 months, ever since Mryrhodesian asked me to ID it. I was almost positive that it had to be on Standard Music album ESL 117 since the piece uses an organ, and Tim Mycroft is the only composer I know that used an organ in pieces used by NFL Films (the other track being 'Collision Course'). For 6 months I couldn't find this album, but Allan Hutchen told me to check with Walter Douglas, and sure enough, he had a copy of the album. And, sure enough, the track was on there! This find was a true TEAM effort. Thanks everyone!
