Craig Lucas (born on April 30, 1951, in Atlanta, Georgia) is an American playwright, screenwriter, theatre director, musical actor, and film director.
Born on April 30, 1951, he was found abandoned in a car in Atlanta. Lucas was adopted when he was eight months old by a conservative Pennsylvania couple. His father was an FBI agent; his mother was a housewife and painter. He graduated in 1969 from Conestoga High School in Berwyn, Pennsylvania. In the 1960s and 1970s, Lucas became interested in the political left and discovered an attraction towards men. He recalls that his coming out made it possible for him to develop as a playwright and as a person.
In 1973, Lucas left Boston University with a Bachelor of Arts in theatre and creative writing. His mentor, Anne Sexton, urged him to try his luck in New York City as a playwright. He worked in many day jobs while performing in Broadway musicals including Shenandoah, On the Twentieth Century, Rex, and Sweeney Todd. Stephen Sondheim would later tell him he was a better writer than an actor.
Jonathan Monroe "Jonny" Craig (born March 26, 1986 in Abbotsford, British Columbia) is a Canadian-American singer. He is the current vocalist of Dance Gavin Dance and the former vocalist of Emarosa and Ghost Runner on Third. He has an eponymous solo project, with which he has released one studio album and a live album to date. He was also a part of the supergroup, Isles & Glaciers. Craig bears the vocal range of a baritenor[citation needed] and his distinct type of soul-based singing has earned him a high amount of acclaim.
Jonny was born in British Columbia. In interviews, he states that he lived on an island. Music had always been in his life. His grandmother, who was in a church choir, taught him everything he knows, as Jonny stated in an interview. Jonny also says his mother would play Michael Bolton and he would sing along at a very early age. As a child, he says that "he had a hard time keeping out of trouble" and that "high school wasn't for him." He would explain later that that was the reason he left high school and attained his G.E.D., then focused on music full-time. "I just wanted an escape from a lot of the things when I was a child I guess. I just wanted to get away from a lot of the problems that I was dealing with at home and stuff", Craig states in an interview with KLSU radio as his reason for starting his path in music.
And I believe it's time
The great escape from you
Cut-off from all clear lines
You turn it upside down
The stopwatch prophecy
You try to take it all back
Something will make it go krack
And I want to tell you then
But then I lose the words
It's neither this nor that
It's all the same
You try to take it all back
Something will make it go krack
I tried nothing at all
Something will make it go krack
Find more words to throw back
You will clearly need them
Now that I'm back
'Cause it's hard to soothe sympathy
While our sanity is under attack
You try to take it all back
It's all the same
You try to take it all back
