Ohio (
i/oʊˈhaɪ.oʊ/) is a state in the Midwestern United States. Ohio is the 34th most extensive, the 7th most populous, and the 10th most densely populated of the 50 United States. The state's capital and largest city is Columbus.
The name "Ohio" originated from Iroquois word ohi-yo’, meaning "great river". The state, originally partitioned from the Northwest Territory, was admitted to the Union as the 17th state (and the first under the Northwest Ordinance) on March 1, 1803. Although there are conflicting narratives regarding the origin of the nickname, Ohio is historically known as the "Buckeye State" (relating to the Ohio buckeye tree) and Ohioans are also known as "Buckeyes".
The government of Ohio is composed of the executive branch, led by the Governor; the legislative branch, which comprises the Ohio General Assembly; and the judicial branch, which is led by the Supreme Court. Currently, Ohio occupies 18 seats in the United States House of Representatives. Ohio is known for its status as both a swing state and a bellwether in national elections.

Randall Stuart "Randy" Newman (born November 28, 1943) is an American singer-songwriter,arranger, composer, and pianist who is known for his mordant (and often satirical) pop songs and for film scores.
Newman often writes lyrics from the perspective of a character far removed from his own experiences, sometimes using the point of view of an unreliable narrator. For example, the 1972 song "Sail Away" is written as a slave trader's sales pitch to attract slaves, while the narrator of "Political Science" is a U.S. nationalist who complains of worldwide ingratitude toward America and proposes a brutally ironic final solution. One of his biggest hits, "Short People" was written from the perspective of "a lunatic" who hates short people. Since the 1980s, Newman has worked mostly as a film composer. His film scores include Ragtime, Awakenings, The Natural, Leatherheads, James and the Giant Peach, Meet the Parents, Cold Turkey, Seabiscuit and The Princess and the Frog. He has scored six Disney-Pixar films: Toy Story, A Bug's Life, Toy Story 2, Monsters, Inc., Cars and most recently Toy Story 3.

David Khari Webber "Dave" Chappelle (/ʃəˈpɛl/; born August 24, 1973) is an American comedian, screenwriter, television/film producer, actor, and artist. Chappelle began his film career in the film Robin Hood: Men in Tights in 1993 and continued to star in minor roles in the films The Nutty Professor, Con Air, and Blue Streak. His first lead role in a film was in Half Baked in 1998. In 2003, he became widely known for his popular sketch comedy television series, Chappelle's Show, which ran until his abrupt retirement from the show in 2005. Chappelle is ranked forty-third in Comedy Central Presents: 100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time.
Chappelle was born David Khari Webber Chappelle in Washington, D.C. on August 24, 1973. His father, William David Chappelle III, was a professor at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio. His mother, Yvonne (née Reed), was a professor at Howard University, Prince George's Community College, and the University of Maryland and is also a Unitarian Universalist minister. Chappelle grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland and attended Woodlin Elementary School. During young Chappelle's formative years, his comic inspiration came from various comedians, particularly Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor.

U-S Secretary of State Warren Christopher opened the Balkan peace talks Wednesday in Dayton, Ohio, warning that failure could once again spread war through Europe.
The presidents of Bosnia, Croatia and Serbia entered the critical negotiations talking tough but said they were optimistic about the prospects for ending the four-year ethnic war.
It was a meeting distinctly lacking in smiles and the usual diplomatic pleasantries.
The leaders of the three warring sides entered the room one by one and the mutual distrust was almost tangible.
Croatian President Franjo Tudjman and Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic exchanged a curt nod.
And when Bosnian President Alija Izetbegovic approached the table where the fate of the Balkans will be decided, he averted his eyes from the others.
The three shook hands only after Christopher walked around the table and urged them to greet each other in front of the cameras.
Also at the table for the opening were Russian mediator Igor Ivanov and European negotiator Carl Bildt, former Swedish premier.
Christopher portrayed the stakes as a choice between a future of peace and integration or a future of violence and poverty and isolation from the rest of the world.

The ink is barely dry on the Bosnian peace treaty and already there are murmurs of caution.
The Balkan parties are glad of the opportunity for peace, but say the West has an important role to play in its implementation.

After the deal was struck, diplomacy it seemed was still going on as U-S envoy Richard Holbrooke had a quiet word in Haris Silajdzic's ear.
Silajdzic rejected suggestions that Serbs could still pose a problem in establishing peace in the former Yugoslav republic.

"We have the assurances of Mr Milosevic that we have his agreement and we shall expect implementation. As someone said here, this is not self-implementing, we have to implement it and Mr Milosevic is the guarantor on the implementation of the peace agreement."

Those involved in the negotiation added a note of caution to the euphoria surrounding the peace deal.

After nearly four years of 250 thousand people killed, two million refugees, atrocities that have appalled people all over the world, the people of Bosnia finally have the chance to turn from the horror of war to the promise of peace. The Presidents of Bosnia, Croatia and Serbia have made a historic and heroic choice. They have heeded the will of their people, whatever their ethnic group, the overwhelming majority of Bosnia's citizens and the citizens of Croatia and Serbia, want the same thing, they want to stop the slaughter, they want to put an end to the violence and war, they want to give their children and their grandchildren the chance to lead a normal life. Today, thank God, the voices of those people have been heard.

The state will be made up of two parts, the Bosnian-Croat federation and the Bosnian Serb republic with a fair distribution of land between the two. The capital city of Sarajevo will remain united. There will be an effective central government, including a national parliament, a presidency and a constitutional court with responsibility for foreign policy, foreign trade, monetary policy, citizenry, immigration and other important functions. The presidency and the parliament will be chosen through free democratic elections held under international supervision. Refugees will be allowed to return to their homes, people will be allowed to move freely throughout Bosnia, and the human rights of every Bosnian citizen will be monitored by an independent commission and an internationally-trained civilian police. Those individuals charged with war crimes will be excluded from political life.

English/Nat U-S Secretary of State Warren Christopher opened the Balkan peace talks Wednesday in Dayton, Ohio, warning that failure could once again spread war through Europe. The presidents of Bosnia, Croatia and Serbia entered the critical negotiations talking tough but said they were optimistic about the prospects for ending the four-year ethnic war. It was a meeting distinctly lacking in smiles and the usual diplomatic pleasantries. The leaders of the three warring sides entered the room one by one and the mutual distrust was almost tangible. Croatian President Franjo Tudjman and Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic exchanged a curt nod. And when Bosnian President Alija Izetbegovic approached the table where the fate of the Balkans will be decided, he averted his eyes from the others. The three shook hands only after Christopher walked around the table and urged them to greet each other in front of the cameras. Also at the table for the opening were Russian mediator Igor Ivanov and European negotiator Carl Bildt, former Swedish premier. Christopher portrayed the stakes as a choice between a future of peace and integration or a future of violence and poverty and isolation from the rest of the world. SOUNDBITE: The talks that began here today are the best chance to achieve peace since the war began. If we fail the war will resume and future generations will surely hold us accountable for the consequences that would follow. SUPER CAPTION: Warren Christopher, US Secretary of State The European Union envoy to the former Yugoslavia struck a poignant note, conjuring the horror the war has unleashed on the civilian population. SOUNDBITE: Few things have affected me more in this brutal conflict than the fate of the innocent children that have been caught up by it. I cannot forget that picture of the little girl who after the grenade fell on the market place in Sarajevo in late August turned to her mother and asked where her hands had gone only to find out that she had also lost her father. SUPER CAPTION: Carl Bildt, European Union envoy to former Yugoslavia The Russian envoy underlined the utter futility of a conflict which has claimed tens of thousands of lives. SOUNDBITE: After four years since the beginning of the tragedy of the Balkans we have to recognise the painful fact that this conflict has brought nothing but grief, suffering and destruction. There have been no winners in this war nor could there have been any. Everyone has lost: the Serbs, the Croats, the Muslims and Europe as a whole. This most severe challenge in the post-European history demands a decisive response by all who truly cherish peace, stability and security. SUPER CAPTION: Igor Ivanov, Russian envoy to former Yugoslavia The speeches done with, now begins the serious business of negotiating a permanent end to the conflict. All sides are hoping for an early agreement, but the road to peace is strewn with pitfalls, not least the intense personal antipathy of the men around this table. They also stress the international community needs to stabilise the situation in Bosnia. But negotiators believe the future of the fragile state after the Dayton deal rests squarely in the hands of the once warring parties. The ink is barely dry on the Bosnian peace treaty and already there are murmurs of caution. The Balkan parties are glad of the opportunity for peace, but say the West has an important role to play in its implementation. SOUNDBITE: Peace has a real chance, depending also as much on the international community as much as the parties concerned. SUPER CAPTION: Pedar Sarcevic, Croatian Ambassador to the United States After the deal was struck, diplomacy it seemed was still going on as U-S envoy Richard Holbrooke had a quiet word in Haris Silajdzic's ear. Silajdzic rejected suggestions that Serbs could still pose a problem in establishing peace in the former Yugoslav republic. SOUNDBITE: "We have the assurances of Mr Milosevic that we have his agreement and we shall expect implementation. As someone said here, this is not self-implementing, we have to implement it and Mr Milosevic is the guarantor on the implementation of the peace agreement." SUPER CAPTION: Haris Silajdzic, Bosnian Prime Minister Those involved in the negotiation added a note of caution to the euphoria surrounding the peace deal. SOUNDBITE: "It's quite an achievement of course. At the same time this is not peace yet. We've had these kinds of agreements before, twice before as a matter of fact during the Bosnian conflict. I think the possibilities of this one working, being implemented. I think those possibilities are far greater than of course in 1993, but still don't underestimate the tasks ahead." SUPER CAPTION: Carl Bildt, European Union Envoy The Russians, too, expressed reservations. They were concerned about the implementation of the plan. SOUNDBITE: As you know this plan of implementation is this plan of NATO. We are waiting the resolution of the United Nations Security Council about the mandate of the military implementation and when we review this resolution and other information from our military people who are now studying this problem in Brussels there will be a political decision about our possible participation. But we have some doubts about that plan of the military implementation. SUPER CAPTION: Igor Ivanov, Deputy Russian Foreign Minister Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich said he remains sceptical about sending in US troops but added that "every American should enter this with an open mind". Is there any danger of Americans and Russians being in a situation which could really be catastrophic if it was mishandled? The agreement comes after some apparent last-ditch negotiations at the Ohio talks, ending three and a half years of conflict. Speaking in the Rose Garden of the White House in Washington, Clinton outlined the agreement in a speech which seemed as much directed at the U-S Congress as to the Bosnian factions. The world held its breath in anticipation of today's announcement - last-minute differences in the last 48 hours threatened the collapse of the Bosnia peace talks - but they were finally overcome. After three weeks of arduous talks, President Clinton was able to announce a comprehensive settlement had been reached to end the worst conflict in Europe since World War II. SOUNDBITE: The Presidents of Bosnia, Croatia and Serbia have reached a peace agreement to end the war in Bosnia, to end the worst conflict in Europe since World War II. After nearly four years of 250 thousand people killed, two million refugees, atrocities that have appalled people all over the world, the people of Bosnia finally have the chance to turn from the horror of war to the promise of peace. The Presidents of Bosnia, Croatia and Serbia have made a historic and heroic choice. They have heeded the will of their people, whatever their ethnic group, the overwhelming majority of Bosnia's citizens and the citizens of Croatia and Serbia, want the same thing, they want to stop the slaughter, they want to put an end to the violence and war, they want to give their children and their grandchildren the chance to lead a normal life. Today, thank God, the voices of those people have been heard. SUPER CAPTION: President Bill Clinton Agreement was reached in Dayton only after U-S negotiators presented Balkan leaders with a last-ditch proposal to overcome a stubborn territorial dispute. The settlement, when it came, was comprehensive. SOUNDBITE: The peace plan agreed to would preserve Bosnia as a single state, within its present borders and with international recognition. The state will be made up of two parts, the Bosnian-Croat federation and the Bosnian Serb republic with a fair distribution of land between the two. The capital city of Sarajevo will remain united. There will be an effective central government, including a national parliament, a presidency and a constitutional court with responsibility for foreign policy, foreign trade, monetary policy, citizenry, immigration and other important functions. The presidency and the parliament will be chosen through free democratic elections held under international supervision. Refugees will be allowed to return to their homes, people will be allowed to move freely throughout Bosnia, and the human rights of every Bosnian citizen will be monitored by an independent commission and an internationally-trained civilian police. Those individuals charged with war crimes will be excluded from political life. SUPER CAPTION: President Bill Clinton In a message aimed at a domestic audience as much as Bosnian factions, Clinton said they had to help the warring parties to make the peace settlement work. The military aspects of the agreement could be implemented in a matter of days. Clinton reaffirmed his commitment of some 20,000 American troops to a NATO peacekeeping force that will be deployed in Bosnia once the agreement is formalized. This nightmare is all too real. . An Australian couple awoke shortly before 2 a.m. on Monday to discover a naked stranger snoozing alongside them in bed, The Daily Telegraph reports. Katie and Chris, of Maroubra, believe that the uninvited 25-year-old visitor entered through a window left open for their cat. ASHTABULA, OHIO. Investigators say a man and woman were killed in an apparent bulldozer accident in far northeast Ohio, and they’re trying to sort out exactly what happened.
