Here are just a few of the color highlights: M.A.S.H. units in action-no Hawkeye, B.J., radar or Klinger here-these are the real men and women who saved thousands of lives. Also, the daring Inchon invasion, the battle of Seol, the Naktong River campaign, winter along the Chosin Reservoir, War in the Skies, and legendary director John Ford s rare footage of the 1st Marine
Division in Action.
In April 1950 Kim Il-sung travelled to Moscow and secured Stalin's support for a policy to unify Korea under his authority. Although agreeing with the invasion of South Korea in principle, Stalin refused to become directly involved in Kim's plans, and advised Kim to enlist Chinese support instead. In May 1950 Kim visited Beijing, and succeeded in gaining Mao's endorsement. At the time, Mao's support for Kim was largely political (he was contemplating the invasions of Taiwan and Tibet), and was unaware of Kim's precise intentions or the timing of Kim's attack. When the Korean war broke out, the Chinese were in the process of demobilizing half of the PLA's 5.6 million soldiers Stalin created "detailed [war] plans" that were communicated to the North Koreans.
On 7 June 1950, Kim Il-sung called for an election in whole Korea on 5--8 August 1950 and a consultative conference in Haeju on 15--17 June 1950. On 11 June, the North sent three diplomats to the South, who were later arrested by the South. Fourteen days later on 25 June 1950, the North Korean People's Army (KPA) crossed the 38th parallel border and invaded South Korea.

They then become a part of the 1st ROK Division, fighting in the 'Pusan Perimeter'. Jin-tae is told by his commanding officer that if he can earn the highest award for a South Korean soldier, the Taeguk Cordon of the Order of Military Merit, his brother can be sent home. Jin-tae willingly volunteers for many dangerous suicidal missions. He is quickly promoted to the rank of Chungsa (Sergeant). Soon American-led U.N. forces arrive in South Korea at Incheon.

With the help of dramatic reconstructions, rare archival footage, and interviews with veteran American and Soviet pilots, NOVA puts viewers in the cockpit to experience the lethal split-second duels that erupted in MiG Alley. In the most moving part of the program, NOVA also traces the efforts of three families to learn what happened to their loved ones, all Sabre pilots. Russia's newly opened archives provide some clues, while the Chinese are now receptive to searches of Sabre crash sites on their territory.

Cold War Documentary Part 5/24 - Korea - 1949 -1953
Peter and Dan Snow, through sophisticated graphics, bring to life the forgotten war of the 20th century - the battle for Korea. The Snows journey to the border between North and South Korea which is a military frontline to this day - there is still no peace treaty more than 50 years after war broke out between the Communist north and Nationalist south.
Peter and Dan tell the story of two key moments in the years of fighting that embroiled soldiers from countries around the world. Peter finds out about the challenges faced by the Americans as they set out on one of the largest amphibious attacks in history, the Inchon landings. On the banks of the Imjin river, Dan recounts how, in 1951, a few hundred British soldiers managed to stem the tide against thousands of attacking Chinese

The KPA killed POWs at the battles for Hill 312, Hill 303, the Pusan Perimeter, and Daejeon—discovered during early after-battle mop-up actions by the UN forces. The US reported that North Korea mistreated prisoners of war: soldiers were beaten, starved, put to forced labor, marched to death, and summarily executed.
The KPA killed POWs at the battles for Hill 312, Hill 303, the Pusan Perimeter, and Daejeon—discovered during early after-battle mop-up actions by the UN forces. Later, a US Congress war crimes investigation, the United States Senate Subcommittee on Korean War Atrocities of the Permanent Subcommittee of the Investigations of the Committee on Government Operations reported that "... two-thirds of all American prisoners of war in Korea died as a result of war crimes."
Although the Chinese rarely executed prisoners like their Korean counterparts, mass starvation and diseases swept through the Chinese run POW camps during the winter of 1950--51. About 43 percent of all US POWs died during this period. The Chinese defended their actions by stating that all Chinese soldiers during this period were suffering mass starvation and diseases due to the lack of competent logistics system. The UN POWs, however, disputed the claim by pointing out that most of the Chinese camps were located near the easily supplied Sino-Korean border, and that starvation was used to force the prisoners to accept the communism indoctrinations programs, which were running in full swing after the starvation was over.
The North Korean Government reported some 70,000 ROK Army POWs; 8,000 were repatriated. South Korea repatriated 76,000 Korean People's Army POWs. Besides the 12,000 UN Command forces POWs dead in captivity, the KPA might have press-ganged some 50,000 ROK POWs into the North Korean military. Per the South Korean Ministry of Defense, there remained some 560 Korean POWs detained in North Korea in 2008; from 1994 until 2009, some 79 ROK POWs escaped the North.
The North Korean Government denied having POWs from the Korean War, and, via the Korean Central News Agency, reported that the UN forces killed some 33,600 KPA POWs; that on 19 July 1951, in POW Camp No. 62, some 100 POWs were killed as machine-gunnery targets; that on 27 May 1952, in the 77th Camp, Koje Island (now in Geoje), the ROK Army incinerated with flamethrowers some 800 KPA POWs who rejected "voluntary repatriation" south, and instead demanded repatriation north.
In December 1950, National Defense Corps was founded, the soldiers were 406,000 drafted citizens. In the winter of 1951, 50,000 to 90,000 South Korean National Defense Corps soldiers starved to death while marching southward under the Chinese offensive when their commanding officers embezzled funds earmarked for their food. This event is called the National Defense Corps Incident.

Arirang TV has prepared a program about nurses and nursing officers who took care of wounded soldiers and civilians during the war on the Korean Peninsula. Their devotion and warm hearts made them the unsung heroines of the Korean War.
The devotion and love of white angels
These people risked their lives to save the lives of soldiers, who were like family to them. They put the soldiers′ needs ahead of their own, and did their utmost to help the wounded survive and recover. Even after half a century these nurses still cry.
Efforts of nursing officers dispatched worldwide
When the Korean War broke out, many countries sent their troops to help Korea. But the troops didn′t come alone - they were accompanied by nurses and nursing officers. Six nations including India, Italy and Norway sent their medics. The United States, which dispatched the most troops, also sent more than 500 nursing officers. The American nursing officers had to work under the same conditions as soldiers.
After the soldiers left following the cease-fire, the nurses stayed.
Their devotion continued even after the war.
After the Korean War, the Republic of Korea was completely ruined. Most of the soldiers returned to their home countries, but the nurses stayed in Korea. To them, the war was not over yet. They stayed to take care of wounded soldiers and war orphans. They believed that their duty was to help Koreans regain stability as soon as possible.
Korean nursing officers who carry on the spirit of Florence Nightingale in the world′s war zones
Sixty years after the end of the Korean War, Korea, a country with a tragic history, is contributing to establishing peace around the world. Korean nursing officers visit disputed regions in various parts of the globe to carry on the spirit of Florence Nightingale, just like the nursing officers from other countries did during the Korean War.

[BREAKING] Korean military put on highest alert level: “DEFCON”
South Korea has put its military on its highest alert level, similar to the DEFCON system in the United States, after being fired upon by North Korea.
On August 20th KST, South Korea received fire from North Korean artillery in several of their military locations. Since then, tensions has been rising between the two countries that have been at a ceasefire for over 60 years, since the Korean War in 1950.
Initially, the South Korean military returned fire and ordered 6 of their military camps to be on a “Jindogae 1″ status. The Jindogae 1 status entails that these 6 camps are on highest alert possible and all available military personnel in the

South Korea said on Thursday (Aug 20) that President Park Geun Hye would attend upcoming celebrations in Beijing to mark China's victory over Japan in World War II, an anniversary that most world leaders look set to shun.
But Ms Park's senior secretary for foreign affairs Ju Chul Ki told reporters no final decision had been made on whether the President would attend the showpiece event - a huge military parade in the Chinese capital on Sept 3.

South Korea has denounced North Korea for its refusal of Seoul's proposal for inter-Korean family reunions on the pretense of joint South Korean-U.S. military drills.
North Korea on Tuesday demanded that South Korea and the United States suspend the ongoing joint Ulchi Freedom Guardian exercise immediately as a precondition for Pyongyang's cooperation for a reunion of families separated by the 1950-53 Korean War.
Reiterating that the UFG is transparent and regular, with a defensive purpose, the South Korean ministry on Wednesday urged the North to handle the family reunion issue from a humanitarian perspective as it guarantees urgency.

S. Korea sends letter to UN on N. Korea′s land mine attack
정부, 안보리 의장에 ′北지뢰도발
South Korea has sent a letter to the UN Security Council′s 15 member states about the recent land mine explosion inside the demilitarized zone that left two South Korean soldiers seriously injured.
Following an investigation, Seoul accused Pyongyang of being behind the attack, although the regime has denied any involvement.
An official at Seoul′s foreign ministry told reporters Thursday that the letter lays out the results of the investigation into the mine blast.
It also labels the attack a violation of the Armistice Agreement that effectively ended the 1950 to 1953 Korean War.
North Korea has yet to respond to Seoul′s moves.

The Jindogae 1 status entails that these 6 camps are on highest alert possible and all available military personnel in the area (soldiers, police, as well as the reserve soldiers) are expected to report for duty.
10 minutes ago at 8:33 KST, the Korean military issued a new order and now all military personnel are to have their firearms available and dressed in full military gear to await further orders.

Sammy Nolan relates his Korean War experience in The Snake Man
South Korea said on Thursday (Aug 20) that President Park Geun Hye would attend upcoming celebrations in Beijing to mark China's victory over Japan in World War II, an anniversary that most world leaders look set to shun.
But Ms Park's senior secretary for foreign affairs Ju Chul Ki told reporters no final decision had been made on whether the President would attend the showpiece event - a huge military parade in the Chinese capital on Sept 3.

S.Korea raps N.Korea's denial of inter-Korean family reunions / YTN
The ministry's spokesman Jeong Joon-Hee told reporters that the government believes Pyongyang's move is "overstretched and improper".
South Korea and the U.S. began the 12-day UFG drills on Monday, which the communist North denounces as a war rehearsal for a northward invasion.

A Motion Picture History of the Korean War - Restored, 1955
The Korean War is often overlooked and many people have only a foggy idea of what happened there, but we live with its consequences in a drama that continues to this day. I restored this video. For more films on this important event, see our 2-voluime DVD set, "The Battle for Korea" http://bit.ly/19I3lI1
This documentary, produced by the Defense Department, is a concise, easy to grasp history of the war told through maps, memorable "you are there" images and eye witness accounts. You'll learn about strategy and tactics while you see the dramatic ebb and flow of the conflict from the North Korean invasion through the final cease fire. Highlights include rare gun camera footage of ground attacks by a variety of aircraft, including the seldom seen F7F Tigercat, the first Marine helicopter air assault to secure a hilltop behind enemy lines, F-86 Sabres taking on Migs, B-29 strikes, amphibious and airborne attacks, fighting a Winter war, naval support, toe-to-toe combat infantry operations through mountainous terrain and much more.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_War
The Korean War (in South Korea: Hangeul: 한국전쟁, Hanja: 韓國戰爭, "Korean War"; in North Korea: 조국해방전쟁, Joguk Haebang Jeonjaeng, "Fatherland Liberation War"; 25 June 1950 – 27 July 1953) was a war between North and South Korea, in which a United Nations force led by the United States of America fought for the South, and China fought for the North, also assisted by the Soviet Union. The war arose from the division of Korea at the end of World War II and from the global tensions of the Cold War that developed immediately afterwards.
Korea was ruled by Japan from 1910 until the closing days of World War II. In August 1945, the Soviet Union declared war on Japan and—by agreement with the United States—occupied Korea north of the 38th parallel. U.S. forces subsequently occupied the south. By 1948, two separate governments had been set up. Both governments claimed to be the legitimate government of Korea, and neither side accepted the border as permanent. The conflict escalated into open warfare when North Korean forces—supported by the Soviet Union and China—invaded South Korea on 25 June 1950. On that day, the United Nations Security Council recognized this North Korean act as invasion and called for an immediate ceasefire. On 27 June, the Security Council adopted S/RES/83 : Complaint of aggression upon the Republic of Korea and decided the formation and dispatch of the U.N. Forces in Korea. The United States and other countries moved to defend South Korea.
Outmaneuvered and suffering heavy casualties in the first two months of the conflict, South Korean forces were forced back to the Pusan perimeter. Twenty-one countries of the United Nations contributed to the defense of South Korea, with the United States providing 88% of the soldiers. An amphibious UN counter-offensive at Inchon was launched, and cut off many of the North Korean attackers. Those that escaped envelopment and capture were forced back north all the way to the Yalu River at the Korea-China border, or into the mountainous interior. At this point, Chinese forces crossed over the Yalu and entered the war on the side of North Korea. Chinese intervention rapidly forced the United Nations Command back into South Korea, and the last two years of the war saw stalemate and attrition warfare. The fighting ended on 27 July 1953, when the armistice agreement was signed. The agreement established a new border between the Koreas close to the previous one and created the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), a 2.5-mile (4.0 km)-wide fortified buffer zone between them. Border incidents have continued to the present.
The war has been seen both as a civil war and as a proxy conflict in the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union. While not directly committing forces to the conflict, the Soviet Union provided strategic planning, weapons, and material aid to both the North Korean and Chinese armies. From a military science perspective, the Korean War was initially fought in a manner sequent of the mobile style of warfare that emerged in World War II, but by the second year of the conflict, fighting tended toward holding operations while the details of an armistice were debated. For the last two years of the conflict, World War I trench warfare tactics became the norm. The war also saw the first combat between jet aircraft—such as the F-86 Sabre used by the UN and the MiG-15 used by the Chinese—in warfare...

Product Description
Korean War in Color documents war-torn Korea the way the soldiers saw it-in full, shocking color. This digitally mastered DVD presents a true picture of war-full of terror, chaos, blood and courage. Many of the images included here have never been seen by the general public before, having been kept top secret for decades by military officials for fear of a public backlash.

In 2003, while digging up remains at a Korean War battlefield to set up a memorial site, a South Korean Army excavation team notifies an elderly man that they identified some remains as his own.
The story then shifts to June 1950, in the South Korean capital of Seoul, where the Lee family lives. Jin-tae Lee (Jang Dong-gun) owns a shoeshine stand to pay for his younger brother Jin-seok's (Won Bin) education. They meet at a busy street in Seoul, where Jin-tae bought a silver pen for Jin-Seok. Jin-tae's fiancée Young-shin (Lee Eun-ju) works with the Lee's noodle shop. On June 25, 1950, North Korea invades South Korea. Both brothers are conscripted.

In the early 1950s, epic battles unfolded in the skies over North Korea as American and Russian fighters faced off in history's first jet war. This program explores the Korean War's aerial tactics, technology, and grim aftermath for downed pilots, many of whom disappeared without a trace.
The Korean War pitted the two most advanced fighters of their day, the American F-86 Sabre and the Soviet MiG-15, in furious air battles in North Korea's notorious "MiG Alley." With the help of dramatic reconstructions, rare archival footage, and interviews with veteran American and Soviet pilots, NOVA puts viewers in the cockpit to experience the lethal split-second duels that erupted in MiG Alley. In the most moving part of the program, NOVA also traces the efforts of three families to learn what happened to their loved ones, all Sabre pilots. Russia's newly opened archives provide some clues, while the Chinese are now receptive to searches of Sabre crash sites on their territory.

Freedom guardians who risked their lives to help injured soldiers

The ministry's spokesman Jeong Joon-Hee told reporters that the government believes Pyongyang's move is "overstretched and improper".
South Korea and the U.S. began the 12-day UFG drills on Monday, which the communist North denounces as a war rehearsal for a northward invasion.

On the 65th anniversary of the beginning of the Korean War James is joined by James Perloff of jamesperloff.com to discuss his in-depth article, "The Korean War: Another Conflict that Served the Illuminati Agenda." From deals with the Soviets to protection for the Chinese to pulled punches and "missed" opportunities, we examine how the pretext for the war was created, why it was thrown, and who was behind it.
