Gene Barry (June 14, 1919 – December 9, 2009) was an American stage, screen, and television actor. Barry is best remembered for his leading roles in the films The Atomic City (1952) and The War of The Worlds (1953) and for his portrayal of the title character in the TV series Bat Masterson, among many roles.
Barry was born Eugene Klass in New York City, the son of Eva (née Conn) and Martin Klass; all of his grandparents were Jewish immigrants from Russia. Barry exhibited early artistic skills with singing and playing violin as a child and later spent two years at the Chatham Square School of Music on a scholarship awarded for his vocal ability. When Barry was 25, he married Betty Claire Kalb (February 12, 1923 – January 31, 2003) on October 22, 1944. At the time of their marriage, Kalb was an actress known by the stage name, Julie Carson. Their marriage produced three children; two biological sons and an adopted daughter.
Barry chose his professional name in honor of John Barrymore and made his Broadway debut as Captain Paul Duval in the 1942 revival of Sigmund Romberg's The New Moon. He later portrayed Falke in Rosalinda (1942), Nova Kovich in The Merry Widow (1943), Lieutenant Bunin in Catherine Was Great (1944), Dorante and Comte De Chateau-Gaillard in The Would-Be Gentleman (1946), The Doctor in Happy as Larry (1950), and played a variety of roles in the musical revue Bless You All (1950).
Barry White, born Barry Eugene Carter ((1944-09-12)September 12, 1944 – July 4, 2003(2003-07-04)), was an American composer and singer-songwriter.
A two-time Grammy Award-winner known for his distinctive bass voice and romantic image, White's greatest success came in the 1970s as a solo singer and with the Love Unlimited Orchestra, crafting many enduring soul, funk, and disco songs such as his two biggest hits, "You're the First, the Last, My Everything" and "Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Babe."
Worldwide, White had many gold and platinum albums and singles, with combined sales of over 100 million, according to critics Ed Hogan and Wade Kergan. His influences include southern soul artists like Isaac Hayes, Clarence Carter, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin plus Motown artists The Supremes, The Four Tops and Marvin Gaye. Along with Isaac Hayes, White is considered by Allmusic.com as the first singer who played disco music before the actual period of the late 1970s.
Barry White was born Barry Eugene Carter in Galveston, Texas, and grew up in the high-crime areas of South Central Los Angeles. White was the elder of two brothers; his brother Darryl is 13 months younger. He grew up listening to his mother's classical music collection, and first took to the piano emulating what he heard on the records. His introduction to music later led to him playing piano on Jesse Belvin's hit single, "Goodnight My Love."
Louis Burton Lindley, Jr. (June 29, 1919 – December 8, 1983), better known by the stage name Slim Pickens, was an American rodeo performer and film and television actor who epitomized the profane, tough, sardonic cowboy, but who is best remembered for his comic roles, notably in Dr. Strangelove and Blazing Saddles.
Pickens was born Louis Burton Lindley, Jr. in Kingsburg, California, the son of Sally Mosher (née Turk) and Louis Bert Lindley, Sr. He was an excellent rider from age 4 and quit school to join the rodeo at 12. He was told that working in the rodeo would be "slim pickings" (very little money), giving him his name, but he did well and eventually became a well-known rodeo clown.
After 20 years on the rodeo circuit, his distinctive Oklahoma-Texas drawl (even though he was a lifelong Californian), his wide eyes and moon face and strong physical presence gained him a role in the western Rocky Mountain (1950) starring Errol Flynn. He appeared in many more westerns, playing both villains and comic sidekicks to the likes of Rex Allen.

Gene Barry reading the poem 'Boom Time' in Amsterdam
"That's what Bikini's are for".
Mama, oh mama, I don't wanna come down
Not if it's all like it was on the ground
Hiding my feet 'cause I'm too shy to dance
Hiding my face behind both of my hands
Mama, oh mama, don't make me come down
'cause I don't know what will come out of my mouth
People will hear they won't know who I am
People will hear and they won't understand
Mama, I've seen them, the others like me
Once I could see it was all I could see
The silent procession that crosses the snow
In which skeleton ladies like skeletons go
Mama, oh mama, up here where I'm free
I have seen beauty you wouldn't believe
Juniper's ledges and Juniper's birds
Where Juniper's edges and mine become blurred
Mama, oh mama, if you only heard
The reasons for living, the freedom of words
The blooming balloon of a thought being born
Safe in the branches of Juniper's arms
Mama, oh mama, I'm not like you think
Some harrowing walker down narrowing streets
If I had my way I would bring the whole world
Every sleepwalker and each hungry girl
Mama, oh mama, and old uncle Tom
My father the thinker, my daughter the song
Tell every bell to just wake up and ring
Tell this whole choir to just shut up and sing
Mama, oh mama, I'm holding your hand
In these glorious dreams in which you understand
Mama, oh mama, we're spinning around
late nights
early morning
we talked until there was nothing left to say
it was strange the war was on
but ive never felt so safe
[chorus]
but ive never seen better days. better days
no ive never seen better days....
you laugh
you understood
something unfamiliar
and i didnt think, i could feel this way
i was cold
and tired
and the world outside was hungry
[chorus]
and lines were tragic, but it didnt seem to matter
it was easier than to turn the other way
from the ruins of rage
i guess we were scared
[chorus]
and when I kissed you
concealing my confusion
o what i knew, but just couldn't say
i loved you, i loved you
o how i love you
[chorus]
the end is here...
the end is here....
the end is here.....
and I've never seen, better days...
better days
