Jamaica (i/dʒəˈmeɪkə/), officially the Commonwealth of Jamaica, is an island nation of the Greater Antilles, 234 kilometres (145 mi) in length, up to 80 kilometres (50 mi) in width, and 10,990 square kilometres (4,240 sq mi) in area. It is situated in the Caribbean Sea, about 145 kilometres (90 mi) south of Cuba, and 191 kilometres (119 mi) west of Hispaniola, the island harbouring the nation-states of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The indigenousArawakan-speaking Taíno name for the island was Xaymaca, meaning the "Land of Wood and Water" or the "Land of Springs".
Once a Spanish possession known as Santiago, it became an English colony in 1655 under the name "Jamaica". It achieved full independence from Britain on August 6, 1962. With 2.8 million people, it is the third most populous anglophone country in the Americas, after the United States and Canada. It remains a Commonwealth realm in concert with the Monarchy of Jamaica holding ultimate executive power, where Queen Elizabeth II is the current head of state and Queen of Jamaica.Kingston is the country's largest city and the capital.

In Jamaica, attacks, murder, and rape are common occurrences against LGBTI people, with little to no retribution or justice brought against those responsible.
After being forced from shacks, derelict buildings, and their own families, many homeless LGBTI Jamaicans have found refuge in the storm drainage systems of Kingston — known locally as the gully. For trans girls and gay men unable or unwilling to hide their sexuality, the sense of community and relative safety the gully provides acts as a welcome sanctuary, and for many, a hope of change to come.

This was my very first trip alone outside of the US. Very daring but very adventurous. Despite going in the middle of Hurricane Season, Tropical storm Issaac missed Jamaica and Atlanta and it only rained twice the whole time. :) Not only did i do everything i wanted but i also did everything i wanted within a set budget. I got the opportunity to see Montego Bay, Ocho Rios where i stayed, Negril overnight, and Kingston in just four days. Even though I spend half my time on the road, the road traveling allowed me to see a lot of the heart of Jamaica. I am happy to say that I spend my 24th birthday just 3 weeks after Jamaicas 50th independence day and Usain Bolts recent Olympic Victories. I have much respect for Jamaican people, lifestyle and culture as much of the island is poor. In addition to rich culture and beauty, Jamaica is home to great music. Aside from wishing i stayed in Negril for a second night, this trip was a huge accomplishment in regards to future travel alone. I learned how to use other currency versus my own and i know how I should blend in with locals if necessary. lol
Happy Travels and I wish peace, love, and prosperity to this beautiful island. ONE LOVE

The journey was flown by Aircraft G-VIIP which is a GE90 equipped Boeing 777-200ER.
This time around I had a clean window without any scratches and the weather was marvellous as the aircraft approached Jamaica, however it inexplicably turned hazy during the final stages of the aircrafts approach. Montego Bay is Jamaica’s second largest city that, at the end of the 18th century, was one of the most important harbors for the island’s sugar industry. The lively city centre is a mixture of both old and new with modern concrete houses located next to simple wooden huts and congested streets with numerous small shops and street traders.Close to Falmouth, there’s the excitement of Martha Brae River Rafting which is an excellent way to explore this tropical paradise, in which dense tropical rain forest shows off all its spectacular colors. It was here, on the north coast, that Christopher Columbus lande

Travel video about destination Jamaica.
It was here, on the north coast, that Christopher Columbus landed in 1502 and where the Spanish were defeated by the British in a bloody battle for sovereign control of the island.Dunn`s River Falls is the name of a waterfall near to Ochos Rios, one of the island’s most well known natural attractions. In swimming attire, more than a million annual visitors attempt to climb through spraying torrents of water while linking hands in a human chain. In foaming cascades, the water plunges 200 metres down toward the sea over step-shaped limestone blocks and across an overgrown landscape of ferns and plants.Harmony Hall, a Victorian building that is a reminder of British colonial rule, is the name of an immaculate manor house located on a turn of the century plantation. Today, it contains a handicraft centre and also a gallery that displays the works of indigenous artists.James Bond Beach is the name of the former winter retreat of the English author, Ian Fleming, who created British secret agent, James Bond. The famous author wrote most of his fourteen 007 novels on the small island of Golden Eye, of which five were set in Jamaica.Expansive fields of coconut palms dominate the Sun Valley Plantation which continues a tradition that dates back 250 years. In addition to bananas, citrus fruits, papayas, melons and apples, various spices are also cultivated on the plantation.World famous for their coffee beans, the Blue Mountains represent breathtaking primeval nature with a hint of adventure, a further experience in this sun-scorched island.

Once a Spanish possession known as Santiago, in 1655 it came under the rule of England (later Great Britain), and was called Jamaica. It achieved full independence from the United Kingdom on 6 August 1962. With 2.8 million people, it is the third most populous Anglophone country in the Americas, after the United States and Canada. Kingston is the country's largest city and its capital, with a population of 937,700. Jamaica has a large diaspora around the world, due to emigration from the country.
Jamaica is a Commonwealth realm, with Queen Elizabeth II as its monarch and head of state. Her appointed representative in the country is the Governor-General of Jamaica, currently Patrick Allen. The head of government and Prime Minister of Jamaica is Portia Simpson-Miller. Literally our drive from Kingston to Negril. Which took us close to 4.5 hours, i managed to squeeze down into 22 or so minutes. Its alot of driving and tlaking, but if you feel like seeing the Jamaican Country side you will enjoy it. We meet up with a few friends for a session at the end in Negril at our beachhouse

DigitalDubs:
Produziram a trilha sonora original do cultuado documentário musical Dub Echoes.
Constantemente fazem parte do line-up de festivais importantes.

VICE News travelled to the New Kingston area to see what LGBTI life is like in Jamaica — where just being who you are can mean living a life underground.
This unique community has found solace in the lyrics of street life and struggle of the recently incarcerated singer Vybz Kartel, a national hero of sorts and considered "The Voice of the Jamaican Guetto" by many. Check out the unofficial video for "Beautiful Girl" by Vybz Kartel, the ""voice of the Jamaican ghetto" at Noisey: http://bit.ly/1l7eE0P

ONE LOVE
Day 1: Land in Montego/ Ocho Rios
Day 2: Kingston
Day 3: Dunns River Falls/ Bob Sled Ride/ Negril
Day 4: Negril/ Ocho Rios
Day 5: Fly out of Montego Bay
Video production and assembly is not professional, strictly for fun. :) Enjoy

British Airways 777 - Approach and landing into Kingston Jamaica
This is unedited video of the approach and landing of the BA 2263 service into uKingston Jamaica.
You can just make out the runway from 06:36 onwards as the aircraft flies past, prior to making a 180 degree turn to line up for final approach.

Travel video about destination Jamaica.

The island, 10,990 square kilometres (4,240 sq mi) in area, lies about 145 kilometres (90 mi) south of Cuba, and 191 kilometres (119 mi) west of Hispaniola, the island containing the nation-states of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Jamaica is the fifth-largest island country in the Caribbean.
Jamaica is a parliamentary constitutional monarchy with legislative power vested in the bicameral Parliament of Jamaica, consisting of an appointed Senate and a directly elected House of Representatives

Profile:
Comprised of lead vocalist, Leroy Sibbles and vocalists Earl Morgan and Barry Llewelyn, all natives of Kingston, Jamaica. Formed in the early 1960's and originally called The Hep Ones, the Heptones played a key role in the transition between ska and rocksteady. Signed by Clement 'Coxsone' Dodd shortly after their debut they stayed with Studio One until 1971. Chaffing under Dodd's control they left Studio One to work with Joe Gibbs and in 1973 teamed-up with Lee 'Scratch' Perry to update their sound. Their first album with "Perry, Party Time", which contained new versions of many of their best Studio One tracks, gained them international popularity. Sibbles left the group in 1977 to launch a solo career.

DigitalDubs:
Produziram a trilha sonora original do cultuado documentário musical Dub Echoes.
Constantemente fazem parte do line-up de festivais importantes.
