1984 (MCMLXXXIV) was a leap year that started on a Sunday, in accordance with the Gregorian calendar. It is the 1984th year of the Common Era or A.D.; the 984th year of the 2nd millennium; the 84th year of the 20th century; and the 5th year of the 1980s decade.
The Cure are an English alternative rock band formed in Crawley, West Sussex in 1976. The band has experienced several line-up changes, with frontman, vocalist, guitarist and principal songwriter Robert Smith being the only constant member. The Cure first began releasing music in the late 1970s with its debut album Three Imaginary Boys (1979); this, along with several early singles, placed the band as part of the post-punk and New Wave movements that had sprung up in the wake of the punk rock revolution in the United Kingdom. During the early 1980s, the band's increasingly dark and tormented music helped form the gothic rock genre.
After the release of Pornography (1982), the band's future was uncertain and Smith was keen to move past the gloomy reputation his band had acquired. With the 1982 single "Let's Go to Bed" Smith began to place a pop sensibility into the band's music (as well as a unique stage look). The Cure's popularity increased as the decade wore on, especially in the United States where the songs "Just Like Heaven", "Lovesong" and "Friday I'm in Love" entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart. By the start of the 1990s, The Cure were one of the most popular alternative rock bands in the world. The band is estimated to have sold 27 million albums as of 2004. The Cure have released thirteen studio albums, 10 EPs and over thirty singles during the course of their career. Since 2010, they have been working on a fourteenth studio album.
Gaetano "Nino" d'Angelo (b. June 21, 1957) is an Italian singer. He was born in San Pietro a Patierno, a suburb of Naples. Nino had a very difficult childhood, and to help his family's poor financial condition he left the school and started working at a very young age.
Thanks to Alberto Lupo he was able to enter the good world but only after enormous sacrifices: his first album, "A Storia Mia" (Neapolitan for "My History") was published using personal and family funds. The album was a hit almost immediately, especially in Sicily where he quickly became one of the most acclaimed singers. He married at an early age: in 1979 he married Annamaria with whom he would have two sons: Antonio and Vincenzo. He also started acting in "sceneggiate" (a typical Neapolitan theatrical form), becoming a very popular representative of the genre. After a while he also started a cinematographic career, with his first movie "Celebrità".
In 1982 he released the album "Un Jeans e Una Maglietta" ("A Pair of Jeans and a T-Shirt") and a film with the same title followed by a great success. The album sold over one million copies and the movie, although apparently simple and with generally low expectations, surpassed the Hollywood movie "Flashdance" at the box office. From this moment on the "D'Angelo Phenomenon" began: he participated in the Sanremo Festival in 1986 with the song "Vai" ("Go"). The critics totally ignored him but his album was the best seller at the time (although it didn't even show up in the official Hit Parade). He traveled the world to perform concerts: Australia, France, Germany, Switzerland, United States.
Jermaine LaJuane Jackson (also known as Mohammad Abdul Aziz) (born December 11, 1954) is an American singer, bassist, composer, a member of The Jackson 5 and occasional film director. He also produced and recorded duets with American singer Whitney Houston in her early years as a recording artist and was also a producer for Bobby DeBarge's band Switch.
Jackson is the fourth child of Joseph and Katherine Jackson, born in Gary, Indiana after his brother Tito Jackson. His brothers and sisters are Rebbie, Jackie, Tito, La Toya, Marlon, Michael, Randy and Janet. He was raised as a Jehovah's Witness by his devout mother (though he later converted to Islam in 1989 after a trip to Bahrain). Jermaine was the original lead singer and rhythm guitarist of the Jackson Brothers—an earlier incarnation of The Jackson Five—until 1968, when younger brother Michael began assisting with lead vocals. He remained the lead vocalist with Michael for many years. Jackson graduated from Birmingham High School in Van Nuys, Los Angeles, California in 1973.
Runa Laila (Bengali: রুনা লায়লা (born 17 November 1952) is a singer who is from Bangladesh.[citation needed] She started her career from Pakistan film industry and is effective in Ghazals also. She made a hit pair with famous singer Ahmed Rushdi after replacing Mala. She also has done numerous playbacks for movies in Bangladesh, India and Pakistani film industries during late 60s,70s and early 80's. Her best known number is Dama Dam Mast Qalandar.[citation needed]
Runa Laila was born in an upper middle class family on November 17, 1952, in Sylhet, Bangladesh. Her father was from Rajshahi. A music ustad would visit the family home, to teach classical music to Runa's elder sister Dina Laila. As younger siblings are wont to do, Runa too would sit down and pick it up effortlessly.[citation needed] But the energetic youngster's heart was in dance, and she was enrolled in a school where she learnt Kathak, Bharatanatyam, and Kathakali. Her early music training was done when her family lived in Karachi's Federal B area in 1960. Ustad Qader, later known as Piya Rang, was her teacher.[citation needed]
You're looking quite sharp, sugar.
You've got some teeth on that stare.
You've got them tattered blue jeans on.
You've done that thing with your hair.
This bed could use a secret and these pounding hearts could keep it.
If you could, i could, i swear.
You turned me on and i'd like to know if you were trying.
Angel we are so gone.
By tonight, the earth bursts open, we shed this clothing
And you'll see my from the angle that you missed.
You're looking high strung sugar. Why don't you sink a little bit?
Into the sea of sweat our skin can spit.
It was good to keep me guessing because you know i hate attention,
But can we get down to it? Can we get down to it?
Nothing exists but this.

Much too soon you're gonna know I'm strong
I don't care what's right or wrong,
I'm gonna find you by tonight.
I've been so long searching for you
And there ain't a thing that you can do
'Cos I'm gonna be there by tonight.
If you're feeling edgy then you better catch a train,
Or you may see my face at your window pane
I'm gonna get you by tonight.
I've listened and waited and watched every move
I'm tortured and twisted, got something to prove
And I ain't the kind that you can easily soothe
Now you're in for some trouble,
I'm telling the truth.
A system in the making,
self-healing for the blind,
sitting in the waiting-room
of the patient mind;
raging at the illness
when the rage may be its cause,
the purpose of the will is lost
in the search for an escape clause,
in the search for an escape clause.
Fatal convalescence,
the wound becomes a weal;
the poison is in essence just
the virus of the real.
But there's sympathetic healing,
the power of the soul bandages,
concealing all that we can't control,
all that we can't control.
Waiting for the doctor to come.
Waiting for the doctor to come.
Waiting for the doctor to come.
Waiting for the doctor to come.
A system in the making,
self-healing for the blind,
sitting in the waiting-room
of the patient mind...
But there isn't any answer
the consciousness can quote
when the loaded dice of chance are there,
rattling in the throat,
rattling in the throat.
Waiting for the doctor to come.
Waiting for the doctor to come.
Waiting for the doctor to come.
Waiting for the doctor to come.
You put your faith in others;
the fear could not be worse,
but Nature's not your mother now,
just your suckling nurse.
There isn't any doctor,
there isn't any cure...
That might come as a shock to you,
but can you really be so sure?
Can you really be so sure?
Darling, cover me with your palms
Feel the warmth feel the way to my heart
I have no secrets, nothing I’ll deny, tonight
Say you’ve had enough of strength
And I just want to lead a good life
I’m scarred, don’t leave me to the lions, tonight
So darling don’t sail away
Your love is all I have
And don’t believe what they say
Just be tonight
This life is ours tonight
Darling, capture me with your charms
Leave the wealth of wait in my arms
I have no comfort without you
This world is not my home
Say you’ve had enough of strength
And I just want to lead a good life
I’m scarred, don’t leave me to the lions, tonight
So darling don’t sail away
Your love is all I have
And don’t believe what they say
Just be tonight
This life is ours tonight
So darling don’t sail away
Your love is all I have
And don’t believe what they say
Just be tonight
This life is ours tonight
Just be tonight
Just be tonight
Just be tonight
Just be tonight
Tonight, tonight
Tonight, tonight
Tonight, tonight
goddess raped by god
devouring our imminence
famished for fear
we die
sacrosanct arbiter
subjugating the earth
bastardizing spirituality
demise
consummate your venality
battened by life's spoils
placate your greed
we cry
womyn and earth
objectified
brutalized
profitised
despiritualised
we die
(Strong education)
I live now and today
(Securitisation)
I'm willing to pay
(Future prospects and expectations)
Just space the words you want to say
(Your social order)
Yeah I got to stand up
(Ethical border)
And I got to get out
(Economical deep, keep your head above water)
Just call me unreasonably proud
Don't want to patient
I don't want to hide
I want to run wild
Don't want to patient
Will not be patient
Let me just fly
One time only try
Don't want to patient
Will not be patient no more
(Working condition)
I've a dream in my head
(Name and position)
That's why some call me mad
(Colour of skin, religion and mission)
When I feel good some make it bad
(Political sides)
When visions are gone
(Your family ties)
We waited too long
(Favorite temptation and sexual wise)
We die but once we were strong
Don't want to patient
I don't want to hide
I want to run wild
Don't want to patient
Will not be patient
Let me just fly
One time only try
Don't want to patient
Will not be patient no more
I don't want to hide
I want to run wild
Don't want to patient
Will not be patient
Let me just fly
One time only try
Don't want to patient
Well I don't know, but I've been told
That you can never get too old
To let new hands feel your heart
And see where it has grown too hard
We can be patient
This situation
Will not destroy us
Will not control us
We can be patient
In this situation,
and you may hate us
But you can't change us
You fell from the apple tree
The one you planted by the stream
The reset button's very close
You're two feet from the telephone
But I see you stare me down
The quiet won't erase this sound
We can be patient
This situation
Will not destroy us
Will not control us
We can be patient
In this situation,
and you may hate us
But you can't change us
We're saying no oh oh
no oh oh
We're saying no oh oh
no oh oh
We're saying no oh oh
no oh oh
We're saying no oh oh
no oh oh
Slowly breaking,
years of waiting
Slowly breaking
years of waiting
Slowly breaking
your voice above the crowd
We can be patient
This situation
Will not destroy us
Will not control us
We can be patient
In this situation,
and you may hate us
But you can't change us
We're saying no oh oh
no oh oh
We're saying no oh oh
no oh oh
We're saying no oh oh
no oh oh
We're saying no oh oh

You are adored but you say you're alone
Like I'm nothing at all
That's how you punish me
By always letting me fall
I've built this sanctuary for
Your troubles and doubts
And there I pray for you
And now you look at me
Like I wasn't true
And maybe you don't want no one to find out
That I am kissing you
Maybe you don't want no one to find out
That I was the one taking love from you
Patiently, waiting for you to give up everything
Say just what you mean
I'm patiently, waiting
For you to give up everything
Say just what you mean
I want to be adored
By your lips and your hands
Can't seem to tell you this
When you analyze
Every single kiss
You tell me you're just a saint, boys
will be boys, this was a game
And you don't want no one to find out that I
Was the one playing games with you
Patiently, I'm waiting for you to give up everything
Say just what you mean
I'm patiently, waiting
For you to say just what you mean
He's got- He's God- He's got- He's God-
He's got his eye on the prize
One-five in the clip
Walking the strip
He's out looking for kicks
And he come rolling with a posse
You don't want to cross him
No my friends, cuz he ain't no friend at all
He's a big man
He's a real man
Got a god damned gun (just like Uncle Sam)
And when he grips it he's omnipotent
Sends em off like sheep to the slaughter
Get em up
Get back- now get your hands up
Fear the boom of the gun blast
I make it rough
Get em up
Get back- now get your hands up
Cuz when I grip it I am potent
Gun in your mouth
You're staring death in the face
You're going down in the ground
No way out of this place
And he'll be killing every last one
Kill until it's all gone
No my friends, cuz he ain't your friend at all
He's the real thing
Carbon steel sting
Got a god damned gun and it makes him King
Cuz when he grips it he's omnipotent
Sends em off like sheep to the slaughter
Get em up
Get back- now get your hands up
Fear the boom of the gun blast
I make it rough
Get em up
Get back- now get your hands up
Cuz when I grip it I am potent
Get em up- get back, now get your hands up
Cuz when I grip it I am potent-
I'm making them all - fall - down
And now your life is on the line
And now your ass is on the line
Here we go now- Here we go now-
Cock that gun back
Go on; get ready- get ready for war
I back up suckers when I sling
Go on; get ready- get ready for war
I make em suffer when I slay
I don't need anybody
I don't need anyone
I've got my motivation
And I've got my gun
Go on, get ready- get ready for war
I back up suckers when I sling
Go on, get ready- get ready for war
greetings heathens
feast your eyes upon me
you eyes eat me
free from flesh and thought
stealing semen
from my mouth still bleeding
sick and thirsty
you’ll be the end of me
greetings heathens
with jaws still red with envy
your eyes eaten
free from flesh and thought
swollen ideals
your foul mouth still bleeding
sick and thirsty
Alone.
Yet so many voices unceasingly chatter.
I awake behind window bars in a room so white.
Cold like melting frost in this summers night.
There is nothing that can hold my weight.
Nothing to slip around my neck to end this misery.
Not even the dignity of suicide is given to me.
Why can't you all be fucking silent?
So I can think... the blinding light and the sterile
smell comes over me.
Take this pill. Worship this god. Wear a smile. Lie to
the world.
Everything is alright.
No, you can't leave (Not until our pockets are full).
Scars run so deep.
A ghost of me is all you will see.
The burns from a rope I never tied.
The scars on wrists I never cut: Made by the life I
didn't want.
Healed by the life I would one day lead.
There is hope somewhere beneath all this death.
The final exhalation could be a newborn's first breath.
Somewhere in the final resting place of a rotten old
tree: Amanitas are growing.
This is where I will be.
A place where scars are beautiful.
Where sanity and insanity meet.
Here i am
Still roaming through the streets of forbearaent
a gust of innocence has made of me the stoog of life
but i'm still patient, still aware of what we missed
i've found disillusion an ambiton
Here i am
Still listening to the sound of ignorance
my lust for weariness has made of me a fool of life
but im still patient, still aware of what we lack
i've found an isolation in stagnation
"Come in", a voice is calling
a call in the name breaking
a break in the way we are fallin
a fall in the place i've got know
Now here i am
still wandering through the light of doubt
my quest of confusion has made of me the perfect dolt
but i'm still patient, but so bored inside
will i let myself drown in another fight
"Come in", a voice is calling
a call in the name breaking
a break in the way we are fallin
a fall in the place i've got know
