Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite, commonly known by the name Kaká or
Ricardo Kaká, was born on 22
April 1982 to
Bosco Izecson
Pereira Leite and
Simone dos
Santos, a civil engineer and an elementary school teacher respectively.
The Brazilian professional footballer is best known for his exceptional role as an attacking midfielder for the American club Orlando City in Major League Soccer. At a tender age of 8,
Kaka began his footballing career with the local club “
Alphaville” followed by the hometown club
São Paulo FC. He cites Raí, the former Brazilian and São Paulo FC captain, as his footballing role model. Kaka has introduced the world to an exceptional range of incredible football goals and scores making him one of the greatest soccer star ever.
Making a total of 58 appearances for
São Paulo and scoring 23 times,
Ricardo joined
Milan in
2003 for a whooping amount of €8.5 million. Here, he won a
Serie A title, the
UEFA Champions League and also the
FIFA World Player of the Year and
Ballon d'Or awards. His club career further continued with Real Madrid who signed a contract with the soccer star for a fee of €65 million, making him the second highest transfer fee in Euros ever behind
Zinedine Zidane. Kaka's electrifying performance on the pitch were so marvelous that the legendary football player
Pele said “He's the complete player”, when he was named the
2007 FIFA World Player of the Year
.
In the 2013 - 14
Season, Kaka returned to club Milan from Real Madrid on a free two-year contract with only performance-related incentives due to
Madrid after agreeing terms. He was made the vice-captain of the team upon his arrival and also received the opportunity to captain Milan in his debut for second spell. Ricardo's
International debut occurred during the
2001 FIFA World Youth Championship, but unfortunately lost to
Ghana in the quarter-finals. A few months later, he made his debut for the senior Brazil squad against
Bolivia. He was part of Brazil's
2002 FIFA World Cup-winning squad in
Korea/
Japan. Kaká was choosen the captain for the
2003 CONCACAF Gold Cup, where Brazil, competing with their under-23 team, finished as runner-up to
Mexico.
One of the best players of his generation, Kaká was described on the
FIFA website as having the “capacity to glide almost effortlessly past opponents, provide defence-splitting passes and score consistently from distance”. He has performed predominantly as a playmaking attacking midfielder throughout his career and is known for being capable of scoring goals as well as creating and assisting them. The soccer star is married to his childhood sweetheart
Caroline Celico and they together have two children Luca
Celico Leite and
Isabella. He has also endorsed for several renowned companies including Adidas, Armani as well as
