Labrador is the distinct, northerly region of the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It comprises the mainland portion of the province, separated from the island of Newfoundland by the Strait of Belle Isle. It is the largest and northernmost geographical region in Atlantic Canada.
Labrador occupies the eastern part of the Labrador Peninsula, in an area slightly larger than the US state of Colorado. It is bordered to the west and the south by the Canadian province of Quebec. Labrador also shares a small land border with the Canadian territory of Nunavut on Killiniq Island.
Though Labrador's area is over twice that of the island of Newfoundland, it has only 6% of the province's population. The aboriginal peoples of Labrador include the Northern Inuit of Nunatsiavut, the Southern Inuit-Métis of Nunatukavut (NunatuKavut), and the Innu. The non-aboriginal population in Labrador did not permanently settle in Labrador until the natural resource developments of the 1940s and 1950s. Before the 1950s, very few non-aboriginal people lived in Labrador year round. The few European immigrants who worked seasonally for foreign merchants and brought their families were known as Settlers.
Plot
Gaspar de Carvajal, a Dominican, has not seen his family since the age of 10 when he was sent away to pursue the religious life. He attends the funeral of his father, where he notices that the body was washed, then buried in a shroud and without a coffin. Gaspar tells his confessor that he suspects his family, Jews converted to Catholicism, are still following the old ways. Father Lorenzo says this matter must be taken before the Inquisition. Alonso de Peralta, chief Inquisitor of New Spain, orders the Carvajal family arrested on the testimony of their son. Hernando, a Franciscan friar, is sent as a spy to the cell of Luis, Gaspar's brother. Luis's faith converts Hernando to Judaism. Under torture, Luis's mother Francisca confesses. Each family member renounces the Jewish heresy and is allowed to leave prison. But they are warned. If they revert to Judaism a second time, they will be burnt at the stake...

Dad wants us to get dirty.::Cadpig: Mother, should we?::Perdita: [sighs] Do as your father says.::Pepper: This'll be fun!::Cadpig: I always wanted to get good and dirty!
Danny: The humans have tried everything. Now it's up to us dogs, and the twilight bark.
Pongo: Perdy I'm afraid it's all up to us.::Perdita: Oh, Pongo. Isn't there any hope?::Pongo: Well, yes. There's the twilight bark.::Perdita: The twilight bark? Anita: Cruella, isn't that a new fur coat?::Cruella De Vil: My only true love, darling. I live for furs. I worship furs! After all, is there a woman in all this wretched world who doesn't?
[first lines]::Pongo: My story begins in London, not so very long ago. And yet so much has happened since then, that it seems more like an eternity.
Pongo: As far as I could see, the old notion that a bachelor's life was so glamorous and carefree was all nonsense. It was downright dull.
You are the reason I’m living upside down
You are the reason I don’t know where I’m bound
When I’m with you I hardly make a sound
And when I do my words fall dead to the ground
I hate myself for not speaking out loud
I don’t believe your hesitation should be part of our relation
Just let go…
Celebrate me, devastate me
Liberate me, elevate me
Elevate me, liberate me
Devastate me, celebrate me
I tried to love you, but you put me on hold
You like to play with hearts that never will unfold
You like to challenge God’s creation, I was told
But the reason why it’s all out of control
Is that your wicked heart has turned to stone
I don’t believe your hesitation should be part of our relation
Just let go…
Celebrate me, devastate me
Liberate me, elevate me
Elevate me, liberate me
Devastate me, celebrate me
I don’t believe your hesitation should be part of our relation
Just let go, you can’t tell your heart from your soul
Let go…
Celebrate me, devastate me
Liberate me, elevate me
Elevate me, liberate me
Devastate me, celebrate me
wij hand in hand
wij hand in hand
wij hand in hand
en het blaffen van de hond,
Jij en ik
en de labrador,
rennend aan het strand. (3 x)
Jij en ik....
Daisy, you
Shouldn't do the things you do
But you're just so incapable of changing
You lie so well
I could never even tell
What were facts in your artful rearranging
But I came back for more
And you laughed in my face and you rubbed it in
Cause I'm a Labrador
And I run
When the gun
Drops the dove again
When we first met
I was glad to be your pet
Like a Lab I once had that we called Maisie
But fetching sticks
Was the best I had for tricks
You got bored
You got mad then you got crazy
But I came back for more
And you laughed in my face and you rubbed it in
Cause I'm a Labrador
And I run
When the gun
Drops the dove again
Daisy, daisy, give me your answer
Daisy, daisy, do,
Remember good old Maisie how she waited at the
Stairs for you
Daisy, dear
I could almost she'd a tear
But let's shine in the time we have remaining
You're a tough old gal
But a dog is just a pal
And believe me, my dear,
I'm not complaining
Cause I came back for more
Cause I knew even you
Did the best you could
And I'm a Labrador
And with me, you could see
It was understood
That I'd come back for more
Cause I'm a Labrador
