Hotel Review: Radisson Blu Hotel and Resort, Baden Baden – Gateway to Black Forest, Germany

During previous summer holiday, we had a short weekend break in Baden Baden, a German city located at the edge of the Black Forest. Since Baden Baden is famous of its spa and spring water, we deliberately searched for hotels that own a hot spring. Radisson Blu Hotel was one of the very few hotels that in fact own a spring pool in Baden Baden. We stayed there for 4 days and had great, relaxing time.

Resort Location (Satisfaction level 9 out of 10)

We drove from the Netherlands to Baden Baden with a GPS, so it was pretty easy to find the hotel.

We understood from the hotel’s website that it is located nearby city center, but it was actually almost in the city center!

When walking out from the main entrance and turn right, you are at the entrance of the main shopping street and restaurant area in less than 200 meters. If you turn left from the main entrance, there are multiple restaurants located within 5 minute’s walk. Getting to the touristic spots is also easy, approximately within 15-20 walking distance from the hotel.

Overall, we loved the location of the resort.

Room Quality & Price (Satisfaction level 7 out of 10)

We stayed in standard room with an early-bird price (which was around EUR 110). The hotel lobby is grand, with magnificent marble staircases connecting the main atrium to the floors. However, the interior decoration of our room is quite old, for instance you can clearly see that the hanging lamp is from the 70’s. The only renovated part is bathroom, where you can find modern facilities.

Since we are not always staying inside the room, we were quite happy about it, considering the price.

Resort Service (Satisfaction level 9 out of 10)

From our arrival at the car park, to storing keys by front desk when we visit the spa center, all staffs are very friendly and helpful. We arrived at 11am where our room was not yet ready, we were then led to a lounge room where we can store our languages and went directly to the spa center to use the facilities there.

Resort Facility (Satisfaction level 9 out of 10)

Swimming Pools and Spa Center

We were very pleased with the spa center and swimming pools. There are 3 pools in total, where 1 is an indoor pool at room-temperature, while the other 2 are connected pools, partly indoor and partly outdoor. The outdoor part is with hot spring water coming directly from Baden Baden’s nature hot spring, equipped with whirlpool Jacuzzi.

The Spa Center has several treatment and sauna rooms where you can just get in and relax. You can also have spa and beauty treatments there, but we went to another spa center outside of the hotel for a more bargaining price.

Towels and sun bed coversheets are always available, which is nice and handy as you don’t have to carry towels from your own room.

Restaurant

Our hotel rate included breakfast – which offered a wide range of choice, including local German delicacies. We did not had anything else than breakfast from the hotel’s restaurant, since there are plenty other restaurants in the city.

Parking

As we went there by car, we used the parking garage at the hotel during our visit, which is EUR13 per day, a very reasonable price in Europe.

Overall (Satisfaction level 8 out of 10)

After our holiday, we were absolutely relaxed – from the everyday spa, swimming, as well as good food from the city. If you are looking for a decent spa hotel in Germany, while you can explore an old spa city, this is a good choice.

I would recommend this hotel to couples looking for a long weekend break in an ancient city like Baden Baden.

I hope the info can help you in finding the right hotel in Baden Baden, Germany, and enjoy a nice Black Forest vacation.

Recognizing the Best Luxury Hotels and Luxury Resorts

If you are very fortunate, you will have experienced the creature comforts of the best luxury hotels or luxury resorts. The criterion for luxury differs from person to person but there are a few elements which are commonly defined as luxury by most people.

The best luxury hotels and resorts are a haven of splendor and comfort. World class hospitality is combined with lavish environments that leave the guest feeling thoroughly spoiled. The stresses of everyday living melt away as the guest reclines in the lap of luxury.

Just like ordinary hotels, the best luxury hotels and resorts will provide all the basic facilities that are needed to lodge visitors. The usual bedroom furniture and bathroom facilities are available. The difference is that luxury accommodation always provides top quality equivalents. Their environments are sumptuous at every level and luxury exists in every dimension of the operation.

The best hotels and resorts have rooms that are the exemplary examples of interior design. Furniture is often especially created with the hotel providing the only examples in existence. Bedding and soft furnishings are regularly silks, linens and wools. Bathroom accessories are usually matching with large towels that are thick and soft and embellished with the hotel logo. Designer fragrances are complimentary in the form of soaps, gels and lotions.

The best luxury hotels and resorts are often the flagship hotels of any country. This makes them very easy to identify and locate. You can find them quite easily on the internet especially if you search through travel or accommodation agencies that specialize in luxury placements. Even if you arrive in a country without having made any prior preparation, you should find it relatively simple to find the best hotels. They are usually the first to be listed at hotel information desks. Otherwise, just ask a taxi drive to take you to the best hotel in the city and you will surely find yourself in a luxury hotel.

At the best luxury hotels, world class service is paramount. You can expect the personal attention befit of royalty. All such hotels are well staffed with a ratio of about one staff member per room or suite. Hotel staff are fully decked in starched uniforms that represent the hotel’s color scheme. Door men wear the traditional top hat and tails and bell boys wear pill box caps. Hotel receptionists look classy and are perfectly made up and beautifully manicured. All staff in the hotel are willing to help and ready with a smile.

The best luxury hotels often occupy the prime real estate in a country. If it is a city hotel it is likely to be close major state buildings and historic sites. All the city’s visitor attractions will be nearby including the major theatre centers like Broadway in New York or the West End in London. The hotel buildings are very often major landmarks or listed buildings themselves.

Luxury resorts are not usually found in towns and cities. They are usually located alongside beaches or other natural assets popular with visitors. Very often they are to be found in areas where there is minimal infrastructure beyond the hotel but the setting is one of outstanding natural beauty. Many of these resorts are created in themselves to attract visitors in areas where there was very little before.

Bellagio Hotels and Resorts

Arguably the most beautiful of the Italian Lakes, Lake Como is a favorite summer playground of European royals and celebrities like George Clooney. Backed by the snow-capped Alps, the lake is lined with dreamy villas, formal gardens, and charming villages.

Lake Como is shaped like an inverted Y, and Bellagio is located near the fork. It’s the loveliest of the towns on Lake Como and a delightful place to spend a day or a summer.

There are several wonderful Bellagio hotels and resorts to choose from. And not all of them are expensive, although you will need to make reservations well in advance to stay in one of the inexpensive hotels here. It’s such a wonderful place to unwind, you might want to splurge a little.

The five-star deluxe Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni is probably the best known resort in Bellagio. It was once a private estate, but it’s been a hotel since 1873. Luminaries like JFK and Winston Churchill have been guests, and service is impeccable. The grounds and pool are delightful, and the restaurant, which has a Michelin star, is located on a huge terrace overlooking the lake. In addition to the outdoor pool, there’s an indoor one, a private beach, gym, spa, and tennis courts. Rooms and public areas are palatial and luxurious.

Hotel Florence is in a 19th-century villa across from Bellagio’s ferry dock. With a pretty terrace overlooking the lake and an old fireplace imported from Florence, it’s an inviting place to stay and one of the most popular hotels in Bellagio. It’s also hosted famous guests, including Mark Twain and the composer Puccini. Rooms, which have hardwoods floors and nice woodwork, are furnished with antiques and many have views. A full-service spa provides health and beauty treatments. The bar is a lovely spot for a cocktail.

Hotel du Lac is also near the dock and main square. In business for over 150 years, the hotel boasts stunning views from almost every turn. The terrace of the arcaded restaurant and rooftop garden are perfect for gazing at the lake – a pleasure that can also be enjoyed from most of the rooms. For the ultimate vacation, upgrade to a room with a terrace or balcony. The guest rooms are outfitted with mini bars and satellite TV and there’s WiFi in the common areas. Guests of Hotel du Lac can use the pool and health club at the Bellagio Sporting Club.

Travelers looking for affordable accommodations in Bellagio will appreciate Hotel Suisse. Housed in a building that dates from the 15th century, it has a lot of charm for the money. Parquet floors and carved paneling add character and WiFi access makes it convenient for today’s guests. The terrace restaurant that looks out over the lake is very enjoyable. Although the rooms aren’t luxurious, they’re clean and well maintained. Some even have lake views. Breakfast is included in the rate, making Hotel Suisse one of the best values in Bellagio.

Budget travelers can stay in two lake-side trattorias. La Pergola and Silvio both rent small, tidy rooms. Not all of them have private baths or views, so ask when you make reservations.
