State Railway of Thailand [SRT] trains at Thonburi station. I was train spotting with some friends. This Station serves the southern line which goes all the way to Pedang Besar [Thailand Malaysia boder] and all also to Sungai Kolok. The first train being pulled by Hitachi commuter locomotive is bound for Nakhon Pathom and the second train is bound for Nam tok with a stop at Kanchanaburi where it will cross the famous River Kwai bridge. Thonburi station is located on the eastern part of Bangkok and the Semaphore signals which are now out of service and will be schedule for removal and replace by colored light at sometime but this station is still using another type of signaling device called a Tablet Token which will be passed to the east bound train drivers and the next Token block station is Taling Chan where the trains will keep exchanging the single track line Tokens until Sala Thommasop. Then again will enter the Token territory at Nong Pladuk junction where the line splits one going out further west and one going south. But the track from Nong Pladuk heading west to Nam Tok is still a Token territory so trains continuing to Kanchanaburi and Nam Tok will still have to exchange Tokens for the sinle track. As the Hitachi train departs the all clear green flag is being shown by the signalman one on the train and one staying at the station called Station master. The track switches are controlled by the lever frames inside the signal box. At the station I met another train lover from The Philippines he was heading to go on vacation in Kanchanaburi. Before the Kanchanaburi bound train was moved on to the platform the shunting locomotive is coupling up with the coaches. The video shake will go away sometime sorry about that.
