Travel destination Tuesday is back. I decided to go with Poland after watching Band of Brothers and getting on a World War II kick. Poland is a lovely Eastern European country bordering Germany, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, and the Ukraine The official language of Poland is Polish, however about one third of the population speak English. The official currency is the Polish Zloty and as of today it is 3.77 Polish Zloty to one USD. It's pronounced Zwah Tee. Finding cheap flights there was a bit tricky, because there were none. At least during the timeframe I was looking. However, here's a pro tip, all you have to do is get to Europe as cheaply as possible and let budget airlines take care of the rest. It was $1500 to Poland from Denver, but only $1000 to Dublin. From Dublin to Poland it was under $100 round trip. Now this does complicate the flight if you miss anything, but you can easily just book tickets once you land and it will still be cheaper. Watch out for baggage fees though. I did see some hostels for around $10 with great reviews. AirBnbs were around $11 and up for a private room. Not to bad at all. A few weeks there would be under $200 for lodging. There's plenty to do in Poland, for starters there's Ojcow National Park Is in southern Poland fairly close to Slovakia. It has some pretty crazy rock features, some interesting buildings and a few cave tours. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ojc%C3%B3w_National_Park There's a pretty large castle called Wawel in Krakow. Built in the 1300s it sits right next to the Vistula river. You can explore the outside for free, and it's fairly cheap to explore the inside https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wawel Next we've got Morskie Oko which is a large lake in the Tatra national park. Great views, clear blue water, pretty sweet. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morskie_Oko I feel like there's a lot of St Mary's Basilica's in the world, but here's one in Krakow. Built in the 14th century, it's tower stands nearly 300 feet tall. It's pretty big in the inside too. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Mary%27s_Basilica,_Krak%C3%B3w Lastly, we have Auschwitz. It's just west of Krakow, and I honestly thing it's something everyone should see. Auschwitz was a Nazi concentration camp.
