Kennedy, Sr. and Rose Fitzgerald, was believed to have been mentally challenged. Her mental illness comprising of depression and schizophrenia led to violent and severe mood swings for which her father arranged a secret lobotomy. However, the lobotomy impaired her cognitive abilities resulting to Rosemary's institutionalization till her death in 2005. This was followed by Joseph P. Kennedy's death in August 12, 1944 when his plane exploded over East Suffolk, England, as part of Project Anvil as well as that of Kathleen Cavendish, Marchioness of Hartington, in France on May 13, 1948. In August 23, 1956, Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy, wife of the 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, gave birth to a stillborn daughter who is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Their fourth and final child, Patrick Bouvier Kennedy, also experienced a tragic death just two days after his premature birth after suffering from Hyaline Membrane Disease, also called Infant Respiratory Distress Syndrome (IRDS). Known to be the symbol of fashion for women across the globe, Jackie was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, a form of cancer in January 1994, resulting her death in May 19, 1994. On November 22, 1963, U.S. President John F. Kennedy was shot once in the throat and once in the head by Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas, Texas. However, the assassin was later killed by Jack Ruby two days later before a trial could take place. The following year, Edward M. “Ted” Kennedy, United States Senator from Massachusetts and a member of the Democratic Party, was involved in a plane crash killing one of his aides and the pilot. The Senator was recovered from the wreckage by Birch E. Bayh II and taken to a hospital where he underwent treatment from a broken back, a punctured lung, broken ribs and internal bleeding. Ted was also a part of the Chappaquiddick incident in July 18, 1969 where he accidentally drove his car off a bridge on the island fatally trapping his passenger, Mary Jo Kopechne. On 25th July, he had stated in a television show that he wondered “whether some awful curse did actually hang over all the Kennedys”. Again on November 17, 1973, Ted Kennedy, Jr. had his right leg amputated because of bone cancer. The Kennedy family saw another assassination of Robert F. Kennedy, American politician from Massachusetts and a Senator of New York, on June 5, 1968 by Sirhan Bishara Sirhan in Los Angeles just after his victory in the California Democratic presidential primary. In August 13, 1973, Joseph P. Kennedy II, American businessman and Democratic politician, crashed a car and left his passenger, Pam Kelley, paralyzed. After two years, Martha Moxley was bludgeoned to death with a golf club by Michael Skakel, nephew of Ethel Skakel Kennedy. By April 25, 1984, the fourth child of Robert F. Kennedy, David Anthony Kennedy died of a cocaine and pethidine overdose in a Palm Beach, Florida hotel room. “The Kennedy Curse” further continued with the arrest of William Kennedy Smith for raping a young woman at the Kennedy estate in Palm Beach, Florida; Michael LeMoyne Kennedy's skiing accident in Aspen, Colorado; death of John F. Kennedy, Jr. when the Piper Saratoga light aircraft he was piloting crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Martha's Vineyard due to pilot error along with wife Carolyn Jeanne Bessette and his sister-in-law as well as Kara Kennedy Allen's death after a heart attack while exercising in a Washington, D.C. health club. The recent demise from the Kennedy Family were those of Mary Richardson Kennedy on May 16, 2012 after she hanged herself on the grounds of her home in Bedford, Westchester County, New York and Kerry Kennedy on July 13, 2012 due to her influence of zolpidem.
