TakePart is the digital division of Participant Media, a motion picture studio that focuses on issues of social justice. TakePart was founded in 2008 to promote Participant Media's films as well as make viewers aware of the social advocacy efforts of Participant's outreach partners.
TakePart produces a Web site with a daily cycle of original articles, blogs, and videos on the culture and lifestyle of change. Topics of coverage include animals, arts, food, education, the environment, green tech, politics, culture, health and innovation. The site also provides ways for users to take action on the issues they read about. TakePart also offers services including custom content creation and campaign building to NGOs and brands looking to create social impact.
One of TakePart's first media campaigns to win public notice was its activism about the 2008 semi-documentary film, Chicago 10.
In 2009, TakePart released GiveABit, an iPhone application which solicits charitable donations for Participant Media's nonprofit advocacy partners from iPhone users once a day. In 2011, advertising executive Chad Boettcher was hired by Participant Media to oversee an expaned social action outreach via the TakePart Web site.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says Tehran attaches great significance to its relations with Africa as both sides share many common interests and challenges.
Zarif added that Iran has close cooperation with African countries in education, energy and agriculture sectors. He also noted that combating terrorism and extremism, which have afflicted countries in the Middle East region and also Africa, is a priority for Tehran. Iran’s top diplomat made the remarks to reporters following talks with his Ghanaian counterpart Hanna Tetteh in Tehran. Zarif said the president of Ghana is scheduled to visit Iran in the coming months. The Ghanaian foreign minister, for her part, described bilateral relations as close and deep, and called for the further strengthening of ties in all areas.

Haryali Teej, Kajari Teej and Hartalika Teej welcome the monsoon season and are celebrated primarily by girls and women, with songs, dancing and prayer rituals. The monsoon festivals of Teej are primarily dedicated to Goddess Parvati and her union with Lord Shiva.
Teej refers to the monsoon festivals, observed particularly in western and northern states of India and Nepal. The festivals celebrate the bounty of nature, arrival of clouds and rain, greenery and birds with social activity, rituals and customs.
The festivals for women, include dancing, singing, getting together with friends and telling stories, dressing up with henna-coloured hands and feet, wearing red, green or yellow clothes, sharing festive foods, and playing under trees on swings on Haryali Teej.
The festivals are dedicated, in many parts of India and Nepal, to Parvati.

Members of Merseyside Blind FC were invited to Melwood Training Ground recently to take part in a special training session to raise awareness of Standard Chartered’s global charitable initiative Seeing is Believing, which aims to tackle avoidable blindness.
Eight players from the squad joined Steven Gerrard, Mamadou Sakho, Adam Lallana and Simon Mignolet for a unique training session led by five of Merseyside Blind FC’s coaches, which included a skills and drills session and a penalty shoot-out.
For the fourth consecutive year Liverpool FC will replace the Standard Chartered logo on their shirts with the Seeing is Believing logo at the fixture against Tottenham Hotspur FC on Tuesday 10th February 2015 to raise awareness of avoidable blindness.
A week-long auction on eBay will follow the game, where five limited edition player shirts from the match will be signed and available for fans to bid on to raise money for Seeing is Believing. All donations will be matched by Standard Chartered, making this fixture the ‘Perfect Match’, with the Club and its sponsor coming together to support an important cause.

Russia is to take part in naval exercises in South China Sea together with its partners in the Asia Pacific Region in 2016.
Russia’s Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov announced the plan at a summit in Singapore. Antonov said Moscow will have its first-ever drills with Brunei. The Russian official added that Moscow is increasingly concerned for its security, citing US deployment of missile systems in the region. He said US policies are aimed at containing Russia and China and pose a threat to stability in the region. Moscow’s decision comes as tensions between the United States and China are growing on Beijing’s building of artificial islands in South China Sea. Washington says the constructions are aimed at land reclamation. Beijing denies the allegation.

Rwanda experienced a violent civil war between the two main ethnic groups, the Hutu and the Tutsi, that killed around one million citizens in 1994. Militant Hutus left the country in a state of poverty after using machetes to maime, rape, and murder Tutsis and moderate Hutus.
Twenty years later, survivors of the genocide are using technology to improve life in Rwanda, specifically in the country's capital city, Kigali. TakePart World producer Alex Stapleton visits open innovation space, K-Lab which offers free education for citizens to share app ideas.
Aphrodice Mutangana created the Incinke app to crowd source money for those in need. Alex travels with Aphrodice to meet Stephanie, a woman who lost her entire family and home in the Rwandan genocide. Thanks to the Incike app, Stephanie now has a home with a kitchen and access to staples like food and clothing.

Nearly every day, we learn of a new terrible side effect of climate change. New research indicates flowers and other plants will soon begin losing their scent molecules due to exposure to ground-level ozone. Just smell that fresh dairy air. It’s a mixture of all the things that make a farm smell like a farm—throw in a little cow dander, the smell of fresh-cut grass and sun, and don’t forget the bacteria ...
