You may have already studied Tawḥīd. However, to truly understand Tawḥīd, its
opposite, Shirk, must also be understood. The greatest thing Allah has commanded us
to do is worship him alone, and the greatest sin he has forbidden is Shirk as he says:
. وَاعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَلا تُشِْركُوا بِهِ شَْيئً
Worship Allah and do not make Shirk with anything along with him.
So what is Shirk? Shirk ( شِْرك ) is an Arabic word which means sharing something with others that only Allah deserves. Worshipping others along with Allah is the main type of Shirk.
The verse above means we must worship Allah and only him. So whoever worships someone or something instead of Allah, he is a disbeliever in Allah who has
refused to worship him alone. If someone worships him but also worships someone else
along with Allah, he is still a disbeliever in Allah, and it is this person who makes Shirk.
As for someone who worships Allah alone, he is a Muslim who sincerely believes in Tawḥīd.
Shirk is the greatest sin against Allah and he says about it:
. وَمَن يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدِ افْتَرَى إِثْمًا عَِظيمًا
And whoever makes Shirk with Allah has certainly made up a great sin.
Major Shirk Major Shirk is any type of Shirk the Quran or the ḥadīth explains that whoever does it is
not considered a Muslim, not within the religion of Islam, and is not a true believer in Allah. Major Shirk dooms the person to live in Hell forever if he does not stop making Major Shirk before he dies. Any form of worship that is done for other than Allah is Major Shirk, such as praying to others besides Allah or hoping for things from others that only Allah can give (e.g. forgiveness, Paradise, etc.).
A common example of Major Shirk is when people pray to other people such as prophets or visit the graves of saints, believing those people hear or answer prayers.
This form of Shirk is the greatest sin and the most unfair way to behave toward the Lord of all creation. We will mention some of the results of Major Shirk if a person dies while believing in it and doing acts of Major Shirk in worship.
Major Shirk Removes Hope of Entering Paradise
Allah says about the punishment for someone who dies while making Major Shirk:
. إِنَّهُ مَن يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدْ حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ َعلَيْهِ اْلجَنَّةَ وَمَْأوَاهُ النَّارُ
Surely, whoever makes Shirk with Allah, Allah will make Paradise forbidden to him and his final home will be the fire.
Major Shirk Guarantees Entrance into the Fire The prophet ( ) صلّى الله عليه وسلّم said about someone who meets Allah while making Shirk:
مَنْ لَِقيَ اللهَ لا يُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَْيئاً دَخَلَ الجَنََّة ، وَمَنْ لَقِيَهُ يُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَْيئاً دَخَلَ « ».النَّار
Whoever meets Allah without making Shirk with him will enter Paradise, and whoever meets him making Shirk with him will enter the fire.
We will meet Allah when we die, and one of the most common ways people make Major Shirk is by praying to and calling upon someone other than Allah. For this reason, the prophet ( ) صلّى الله عليه وسلّم clearly said:
16 Sūrah al-Māidah, 5:72 17 Recorded by Muslim
» مَنْ مَاتَ َوْهوَ يَْدُعو مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ نِدًّا دَخَلَ النَّارَ «
Whoever dies while calling upon anything other than Allah, making them equal to Allah (in worship), he will enter the fire.
Major Shirk Ruins All Good Deeds If someone makes Major Shirk, all their good deeds may be ruined and lost. Allah says:
. َوَلوْ أَشْرَكُوا َلحَبِطَ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا َيعْمَُلونَ
And if they had made Shirk, whatever (good) they used to do would be ruined. And he also says:
َولَقَدْ ُأوِحيَ ِإلَيْكَ وَِإَلى الَِّذينَ مِن قَْبلِكَ لَئِنْ أَشَْركْتَ لََيحْبَطَنَّ عََملُكَ . َولَتَُكونَنَّ مِنَ اْلخَاسِِرينَ
It has been revealed to you and to those before you, if you make Shirk, your deeds will be ruined and you will certainly be among the losers.

Islam (English

listen)) is a monotheistic and Abrahamic religion articulated by the Qur'an, a text considered by its adherents to be the verbatim word of God (Arabic: الله Allāh), and by the teachings and normative example (called the Sunnah and composed of Hadith) of Muhammad, considered by them to be the last prophet of God. An adherent of Islam is called a Muslim.
Muslims believe that God is one and incomparable and the purpose of existence is to love and serve God. Muslims also believe that Islam is the complete and universal version of a primordial faith that was revealed at many times and places before, including through Abraham, Moses and Jesus, whom they consider prophets. They maintain that previous messages and revelations have been partially changed or corrupted over time, but consider the Qur'an to be both the unaltered and the final revelation of God. Religious concepts and practices include the five pillars of Islam, which are basic concepts and obligatory acts of worship, and following Islamic law, which touches on virtually every aspect of life and society, providing guidance on multifarious topics from banking and welfare, to warfare and the environment.

Zakir Abdul Karim Naik (Urdu: ذاکر عبدالکریم نائیک; born 18 October 1965) is an Indian public speaker on the subject of Islam and comparative religion. He is the founder and president of the Islamic Research Foundation (IRF), a non-profit organisation that owns the Peace TV channel based in Dubai, UAE. He is sometimes referred to as a televangelist. Before becoming a public speaker, he trained as a doctor. He has written two booklets on Islam and comparative religion. He is regarded as an exponent of the Salafi ideology; he places a strong emphasis on individual scholarship and the rejection of "blind Taqlid", which has led him to repudiate the relevance of sectarian or Madh'hab designations, all the while reaffirming their importance.
Zakir Abdul Karim Naik was born on 18 October 1965 in Mumbai, India. He attended St. Peter's High School in Mumbai. Later he enrolled at Kishinchand Chellaram College, before studying medicine at Topiwala National Medical College and Nair Hospital and later the University of Mumbai, where he obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS). His wife, Farhat Naik, works for the women's section of the IRF.

You may have already studied Tawḥīd. However, to truly understand Tawḥīd, its
opposite, Shirk, must also be understood. The greatest thing Allah has commanded us
to do is worship him alone, and the greatest sin he has forbidden is Shirk as he says:
. وَاعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَلا تُشِْركُوا بِهِ شَْيئً
Worship Allah and do not make Shirk with anything along with him.
So what is Shirk? Shirk ( شِْرك ) is an Arabic word which means sharing something with others that only Allah deserves. Worshipping others along with Allah is the main type of Shirk.
The verse above means we must worship Allah and only him. So whoever worships someone or something instead of Allah, he is a disbeliever in Allah who has
refused to worship him alone. If someone worships him but also worships someone else
along with Allah, he is still a disbeliever in Allah, and it is this person who makes Shirk.
As for someone who worships Allah alone, he is a Muslim who sincerely believes in Tawḥīd.
Shirk is the greatest sin against Allah and he says about it:
. وَمَن يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدِ افْتَرَى إِثْمًا عَِظيمًا
And whoever makes Shirk with Allah has certainly made up a great sin.
Major Shirk Major Shirk is any type of Shirk the Quran or the ḥadīth explains that whoever does it is
not considered a Muslim, not within the religion of Islam, and is not a true believer in Allah. Major Shirk dooms the person to live in Hell forever if he does not stop making Major Shirk before he dies. Any form of worship that is done for other than Allah is Major Shirk, such as praying to others besides Allah or hoping for things from others that only Allah can give (e.g. forgiveness, Paradise, etc.).
A common example of Major Shirk is when people pray to other people such as prophets or visit the graves of saints, believing those people hear or answer prayers.
This form of Shirk is the greatest sin and the most unfair way to behave toward the Lord of all creation. We will mention some of the results of Major Shirk if a person dies while believing in it and doing acts of Major Shirk in worship.
Major Shirk Removes Hope of Entering Paradise
Allah says about the punishment for someone who dies while making Major Shirk:
. إِنَّهُ مَن يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدْ حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ َعلَيْهِ اْلجَنَّةَ وَمَْأوَاهُ النَّارُ
Surely, whoever makes Shirk with Allah, Allah will make Paradise forbidden to him and his final home will be the fire.
Major Shirk Guarantees Entrance into the Fire The prophet ( ) صلّى الله عليه وسلّم said about someone who meets Allah while making Shirk:
مَنْ لَِقيَ اللهَ لا يُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَْيئاً دَخَلَ الجَنََّة ، وَمَنْ لَقِيَهُ يُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَْيئاً دَخَلَ « ».النَّار
Whoever meets Allah without making Shirk with him will enter Paradise, and whoever meets him making Shirk with him will enter the fire.
We will meet Allah when we die, and one of the most common ways people make Major Shirk is by praying to and calling upon someone other than Allah. For this reason, the prophet ( ) صلّى الله عليه وسلّم clearly said:
16 Sūrah al-Māidah, 5:72 17 Recorded by Muslim
» مَنْ مَاتَ َوْهوَ يَْدُعو مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ نِدًّا دَخَلَ النَّارَ «
Whoever dies while calling upon anything other than Allah, making them equal to Allah (in worship), he will enter the fire.
Major Shirk Ruins All Good Deeds If someone makes Major Shirk, all their good deeds may be ruined and lost. Allah says:
. َوَلوْ أَشْرَكُوا َلحَبِطَ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا َيعْمَُلونَ
And if they had made Shirk, whatever (good) they used to do would be ruined. And he also says:
َولَقَدْ ُأوِحيَ ِإلَيْكَ وَِإَلى الَِّذينَ مِن قَْبلِكَ لَئِنْ أَشَْركْتَ لََيحْبَطَنَّ عََملُكَ . َولَتَُكونَنَّ مِنَ اْلخَاسِِرينَ
It has been revealed to you and to those before you, if you make Shirk, your deeds will be ruined and you will certainly be among the losers.

You may have already studied Tawḥīd. However, to truly understand Tawḥīd, its
opposite, Shirk, must also be understood. The greatest thing Allah has commanded us
to do is worship him alone, and the greatest sin he has forbidden is Shirk as he says:
. وَاعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَلا تُشِْركُوا بِهِ شَْيئً
Worship Allah and do not make Shirk with anything along with him.
So what is Shirk? Shirk ( شِْرك ) is an Arabic word which means sharing something with others that only Allah deserves. Worshipping others along with Allah is the main type of Shirk.
The verse above means we must worship Allah and only him. So whoever worships someone or something instead of Allah, he is a disbeliever in Allah who has
refused to worship him alone. If someone worships him but also worships someone else
along with Allah, he is still a disbeliever in Allah, and it is this person who makes Shirk.
As for someone who worships Allah alone, he is a Muslim who sincerely believes in Tawḥīd.
Shirk is the greatest sin against Allah and he says about it:
. وَمَن يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدِ افْتَرَى إِثْمًا عَِظيمًا
And whoever makes Shirk with Allah has certainly made up a great sin.
Major Shirk Major Shirk is any type of Shirk the Quran or the ḥadīth explains that whoever does it is
not considered a Muslim, not within the religion of Islam, and is not a true believer in Allah. Major Shirk dooms the person to live in Hell forever if he does not stop making Major Shirk before he dies. Any form of worship that is done for other than Allah is Major Shirk, such as praying to others besides Allah or hoping for things from others that only Allah can give (e.g. forgiveness, Paradise, etc.).
A common example of Major Shirk is when people pray to other people such as prophets or visit the graves of saints, believing those people hear or answer prayers.
This form of Shirk is the greatest sin and the most unfair way to behave toward the Lord of all creation. We will mention some of the results of Major Shirk if a person dies while believing in it and doing acts of Major Shirk in worship.
Major Shirk Removes Hope of Entering Paradise
Allah says about the punishment for someone who dies while making Major Shirk:
. إِنَّهُ مَن يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدْ حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ َعلَيْهِ اْلجَنَّةَ وَمَْأوَاهُ النَّارُ
Surely, whoever makes Shirk with Allah, Allah will make Paradise forbidden to him and his final home will be the fire.
Major Shirk Guarantees Entrance into the Fire The prophet ( ) صلّى الله عليه وسلّم said about someone who meets Allah while making Shirk:
مَنْ لَِقيَ اللهَ لا يُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَْيئاً دَخَلَ الجَنََّة ، وَمَنْ لَقِيَهُ يُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَْيئاً دَخَلَ « ».النَّار
Whoever meets Allah without making Shirk with him will enter Paradise, and whoever meets him making Shirk with him will enter the fire.
We will meet Allah when we die, and one of the most common ways people make Major Shirk is by praying to and calling upon someone other than Allah. For this reason, the prophet ( ) صلّى الله عليه وسلّم clearly said:
16 Sūrah al-Māidah, 5:72 17 Recorded by Muslim
» مَنْ مَاتَ َوْهوَ يَْدُعو مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ نِدًّا دَخَلَ النَّارَ «
Whoever dies while calling upon anything other than Allah, making them equal to Allah (in worship), he will enter the fire.

In his sermon/lecture in the YouTube audio below, Qadhi begins by calling Christians “shirk” for being “polythesists” who believe in the Triune God (three persons in one God), instead of Islam’s “monotheist” god Allah.
Then Qadhi really steps up his verbal abuse. He says, since “there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah wuzza wuzza,” Christians are “by necessity and by definition … the most evil of all evils.” Like all “unbelievers” and “polytheists,” Christians are “filthy.” They are “najusa” (feces, urine) — “a filthy impure dirty substance.”
Qadhi declares that the prophet Mohammad — and by extension all Muslims — “has been commanded to do jihad.”
What is jihad?
Jihad “is a means to establish monotheism on the land.” The prophet had said, “I have been commanded to fight the people until they” convert to Islam. But “if they don’t [convert to Islam,] their life and property are halal [free for the taking] for the Muslims.”

In Islam, shirk (شرك) is the sin of idolatry or polytheism. That is, the deification or worship of anyone or anything other than the singular God, or more literally the establishment of "partners" placed beside God. It is the vice that is opposed to the virtue of Tawheed (monotheism). Within Islam, shirk is an unforgivable crime; God may forgive any sin if one dies in that state except for committing shirk.
As for someone who worships Allah alone, he is a Muslim who sincerely believes in Tawḥīd (Oneness of God).

Shirk al-Ehtesab happens when because of our desire to please somebody that is not our Creator or because of our fear of somebody that is not our Creator, we do things that seem to be ostensibly religious. For example, prolonging one's salah to be seen by someone at the masjid or if someone fixes her hijab not 100% for her Creator but to stop someone from barking about how it's wrong, that's imposing shirk upon her potentially.
Shirk al-Asbab on the other hand is the polytheism of causes. The believer has tawakkul (trust/reliance) that the sweet and the bitter of destiny comes from Allah alone.
Tawheed (affirmation of the Unity of the Creator) is nothing if it remains in the brain and the theological manuals and doesn't enter the heart and doesn't transform the way that we are. It should help us remember the unity of the human race as well. Everybody is either to be called or has responded to the dawah but they were all there when the angels bowed down in reverence to Adam (alai salam). They all have the inviolability of belonging to the Adamic family. Allah says, "We have ennobled the descendants of Adam".
This should make us love Allah's creation, especially the human being (including the sinful) because of the light of the soul (the ruh) - love them for what they are or for what they are called to become. This is the true consequence of tawheed.

Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad is a British researcher, writer and academic. He is the Dean of the Cambridge Muslim College, Director of Studies (Theology and Religious Studies) at Wolfson College and the Shaykh Zayed Lecturer in Islamic Studies at Cambridge University.
Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad was educated at Westminster School and graduated with a double-first in Arabic from Pembroke College at the University of Cambridge in 1983. He then went on to study at Al Azhar University in Cairo and further private study with individual scholars in Saudi Arabia and Yemen. After returning to England, he studied Turkish and Persian at the University of London.

Our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him صلى الله عليه وسلم ) said:
"My Grandsons Hassan (RA) and Hussain (RA) are Masters of the youth in Paradise ".
The holy Prophet ( صلى الله عليه وسلم ) would embrace them in his warm and affectionate arms. He would make both of them sit together on his lap. When the verse of purity (Ayat Tathir) was revealed, the holy Prophet (p.b.u.h) covered them along with their father Hazrat Ali (RA) and their mother Hazrat Fatima (RA) with a Yemeni mantle, and said: "O, God these are my household members."
Hazrat lmam Hussain (R.A)and his opponent Yazeed are on opposite ends of the Heavenly scale. There is no Muslim school of thought that doubts the purity and qualification of the Imam Hussain (R.A). Righteous Muslims know that Imam Hussein is a dear grandson of our Holy Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him صلى الله عليه وسلم ) and that he is a Leader of the Youth of Paradise.
On the other hand, Yazeed is unacceptable to any Muslim. All Muslims condemn him and will continue to do so, for his transgression and for the crimes he committed against Ahl Al-Beit. With such a clear distinction between the two parties, there should be no confusion among the Muslims on account of the commemoration of this great Imam.
