The Australian Government believes the large object that washed up on the French island of Reunion in the Indian Ocean is 'consistent' with the wing of a Boeing 777. The aircraft disappeared in March last year with 239 passengers and crew onboard shortly after take-off from Kuala Lumpur. More

The South African-based Acts Christian Church has closed its only Australian branch after revelations the leader was involved in a paedophile ring. Pastor David Volmer is one of eight West Australian men accused of sexual crimes against a 13-year-old girl over a period of two years. He's pleaded guilty to 12 offences, including drugging and sexually abusing the teenager. More

An eight-year-old American boy has become the world's youngest recipient of a double hand transplant. Limb transplants aren't usually performed on children because the benefits aren't viewed as being worth the risk of a lifetime of anti-rejection drugs. Zion Harvey was an ideal candidate though and the doctors who carried out the surgery at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia say this operation was a breakthrough that could open the door to an expanded use of transplant surgery for children.
