Netflix has renewed Grace and Frankie for a second season, which will premiere in 2016. Series co-creator and executive producer Marta Kauffman said, “Let me say, it’s so awesome to do a show on Netflix because two and a half weeks after we launched, Miley Cyrus does a tweet about your show, and they call and say, ‘We’d like to do a season two.'”

Grace and Frankie tells the story of Grace Hanson (Jane Fonda) and Frankie Bergstein (Lily Tomlin), who form a surprising bond when their husbands (played by Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston) come out as gay and tell them that they’re leaving them for each other. The series also stars Brooklyn Decker (Just Go With It), Ethan Embry (Can’t Hardly Wait), Baron Vaughn (Fairly Legal) and June Diane Raphael (Burning Love).

Reviews of Grace and Frankie Season 1 were mixed. Liz Shannon Miller of IndieWire said, “It might take a little while, but Grace and Frankie has the capability to be something really, really special. And in the meantime, what we have isn’t half-bad.” Tim Goodman of The Hollywood Reporter said, “Beyond feeling like it’s a flippant NBC comedy, Grace and Frankie also feels very 1999.”
