As the platoon returns to England, soldiers go around with different versions of the war. Gulliver, however, lands in trouble as Shelley, his betrayed girlfriend, exposes some war photos to the British Police. Gulliver and Tate are brought to court martial as the two undergo trauma of whether to choose truth or not. The British Army Training Support Unit Belize (BATSUB) has been a hub for jungle warfare training for decades, but in 2011 it was scaled right down. Just six personnel are based in the country now, but demand for training has recently started to increase, with members of 2nd Battalion, the Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment one of the most recent units to go there on exercise. It's seen as one of the toughest places in which to train, and soldiers from the regiment have been spending a month living under the canopy adapting their tactics, live firing and learning survival skills.

230 Gurkha recruits, 100 more than last year, arrived in Catterick Garrison ahead of their basic infantry training. The new Gurkha soldiers are all between 17 and 21, and most of them will be coming to the UK for the first time. “They were selected in December in two groups of 115 and have already undergone some training before arriving here. “They are selected on the basis of their education and fitness and then start 15 days of training in Nepal. They will now start 39 weeks of infantry training before being able to choose logistics, engineers or signals.” The Gurkha recruits, who were selected from around 8,500 applicants in Nepal, were welcomed with a short ceremony led by Buddhist and Hindu leaders, and the company commander. The UK branch of global defence firm General Dynamics is working on a futuristic state-of-the-art smart-tank to replace the British Army's ageing armoured vehicle fleet, to be delivered to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in 2020. The Scout SV armoured vehicle is the first fully-digitised armoured fighting vehicle to have been built for the British Army, and is far bigger and more durable than any of its existing tanks, which are now at least 20 years old. The tank comes in six variants that can be customised with a tools for different missions, and has numerous sensors, cameras, and sights to offer real-time intelligence on weather conditions, target acquisition, and reconnaissance - all crucial battlefield data required by commanders to access and direct situations. "If you think about a network on the battlefield - today's vehicles are pretty much single vehicles operating in an analogue fashion. With Scout SV, each one of these vehicles is a node on a digital battlefield," Kevin Connell, the vice president for General Dynamic UK's Land Systems Regiment told IBTimes UK.

When Britain despatched an Expeditionary Force (the BEF) to the Continent in August 1914, the German Kaiser issued an order of the day to his generals to “walk over General French’s contemptible little army”. But despite being heavily outnumbered, this small force, including many men from the West Midlands, played a vital role in stopping the seemingly overwhelming German advance across Belgium and into France. Small in size compared with the much larger armies of France and Germany, the BEF was highly effective. This was in stark contrast to the disasters that the British Army had experienced a few years earlier at the start of the Second Boer War (1899-1902) in South Africa.
