The Heavy Metal Kids - She's No Angel

This is not Punk or New Wave, but who cares I have always loved this song. This posting was inspired by fellow blogger 'Nuzz Prowling Wolf' who posted a 'Heavy Metal Kids' live album recently (follow the links to his blog and the posting respectively).

Many of you may remember the 'Heavy Metal Kids' lead singer 'Gary Holton'. He was also an actor and was most famous for playing 'Wayne' the cockney carpenter in 'Auf Wiedersehen Pet'.

I guess 'She's No Angel' could be classed as 'glam rock' but whatever it is, as far as I'm concerned its right up there on my list of favorite songs. So leave a comment and tell me what you think.

Tiger Lily - Ain't Misbehavin 7"

So anyone recognise the man in the middle with the hands on the models head? How about Dennis Leigh, does that help ring any bells? Well how about John Foxx?, ahh I thought that one would help. Tiger Lily is the first incarnation of Ultravox!. This 7" single was the only release they made.

Released in 1975 you can clearly hear the music of that period, especially with 'Ain't Misbehavin' (this sounds like something from 'Sailor' (and Sailor weren't very good)). But check out 'Monkey Jive' you can hear strains of the later 'Ultravox!' sounds even though it is still more glam rock (but didn't lots of punk records use some of the glam rock sounds?),

I guess this one is for completeists really, but I actually like Monkey Jive.

As a treat I have also included links to an excellent 'Ultravox!' fanzine caled 'Ultravox Past, Present and Future' from the classic magazine 'In The City'. The fanzine includes lyrics form their earlier music, interviews and also a short story written by John Foxx. There are two formats one standard zip file and one CBR (Comic Book Reader) file, for which you will have to Google and download a CBR reader (easy to find).

So what do you think of Tiger Lily? Can you hear the Untravox! sounds? and one question I would like to know, do people want things like these fanzines? Leave a comment and let me know.
