Alison Courtney Pill (born November 27, 1985) is a Canadian actress best known from her roles in Milk, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and Midnight in Paris.

Pill was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Her father, a financier, is Estonian. Pill attended Vaughan Road Academy.^{[citation needed]} In 2006, she starred as Grace Webster in the short-lived NBC drama The Book of Daniel, and was nominated for a Tony Award for her performance in Martin McDonagh's The Lieutenant of Inishmore.^{[citation needed]} Pill had a major supporting role as campaign manager Anne Kronenberg in the Oscar-winning 2008 film Milk.

She recently starred as April, a college student who discovers she has cancer, in the HBO series In Treatment.

Pill is engaged to actor Jay Baruchel. Baruchel made their engagement public when he thanked his fiancée (Pill) during an acceptance speech at the Genie Awards in Ottawa, Canada.

She is currently filming the HBO pilot of Aaron Sorkin's The Newsroom in Los Angeles, California.

Jonathan Adam Saunders "Jay" Baruchel (born April 9, 1982) is a Canadian actor. He has had a successful career in comedy films, and has appeared in supporting roles in such box office successes as Million Dollar Baby, Knocked Up and Tropic Thunder, as well as starring in films like She's Out of My League, The Trotsky, How to Train Your Dragon and The Sorcerer's Apprentice.

Baruchel was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, the son of Robyne (née Ropell), a freelance writer, and Serge Baruchel, an antiques dealer. He grew up and still lives in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighbourhood of Montreal, Quebec, and has a younger sister, Taylor. His father was of half Sephardic Jewish and half French Catholic ancestry, and his mother is of Irish Catholic background; Baruchel has said that he is "probably agnostic".

One of his first major acting roles was on local television series My Hometown in 1996. From 1997–1998, he co-hosted Popular Mechanics for Kids with Elisha Cuthbert. After appearing briefly in Cameron Crowe's Oscar-winning Almost Famous, Baruchel won the role of Steven Karp on Judd Apatow's acclaimed yet short-lived television series Undeclared, where he starred alongside Seth Rogen, Carla Gallo, Charlie Hunnam, and Monica Keena. He then appeared with James Van Der Beek in Roger Avary's The Rules of Attraction.

Scott Pilgrim is a series of graphic stories by Bryan Lee O'Malley. It consists of six digest size black-and-white volumes, released between August 2004 and July 2010, by Portland-based independent comic book publisher Oni Press. It was later republished by Fourth Estate, an imprint of HarperCollins. The series is about 23-year-old Canadian Scott Pilgrim, a slacker and part-time musician who lives in Toronto and plays bass guitar in the band Sex Bob-Omb. He falls in love with American delivery girl Ramona Flowers, but must defeat her seven evil exes in order to date her.

A film adaptation of the series titled Scott Pilgrim vs. the World starring actor Michael Cera in the title role was released in August 2010. A videogame of the same name developed by Ubisoft for PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade was released the same month.

Creator Bryan Lee O'Malley was inspired to create the series and eponymous character of Scott Pilgrim after listening to Canadian band Plumtree's 1998 single "Scott Pilgrim", a song then-Plumtree singer Carla Gillis describes as "positive, but...also bitter sweet." In particular, O'Malley was inspired by the lyric "I’ve liked you for a thousand years,".

Michael Austin Cera ( /ˈsɛrə/; born June 7, 1988) is a Canadian actor best known for his roles in Arrested Development, Youth in Revolt, Superbad, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist and Juno. In 2010, he won the Satellite Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

Cera was born in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. He is the son of Linda, a native of Quebec, and Luigi Cera, a technician who is originally from Sicily. His parents both worked for Xerox. Cera has an older sister, Jordan, and a younger sister, Molly. He became interested in acting after viewing Ghostbusters repeatedly when sick with the chicken pox at the age of three. He memorized all the dialogue and idolized Bill Murray. He enrolled in The Second City Toronto and took improvisation classes.

He attended Conestoga Public School, Robert H. Lagerquist Senior Public School and Heart Lake Secondary School until grade nine, but then completed school online through grade 12.

His first role was an unpaid appearance in a Tim Hortons summer camp commercial. That eventually led to a Pillsbury commercial in which he poked the Pillsbury Doughboy, his first role with lines.
