The Mormons who came to this region during their search for the ‘Promised Land’ gave the Joshua Tree its name as it reminded them of the holy prophet of the same name. Las Vegas appears like a mirage in the desert, awake night and day, THE entertainment capital of the world! Guarded by a sphinx that stretches its paws out toward the Strip, a pyramid looms above the desert paradise, the Luxor Hotel, one of many theme hotels in this incredible city. The MGM lion guards one of the largest hotels in the world with over five thousand rooms, whereas the Bellagio is a return to the exclusive nature of the casino hotels of the past: here, luxury is at its zenith - an investment of 1,8 billion dollars speaks for itself! Only two and a half hours by car to the west of Las Vegas is the USA’s most recent national park that extends to the opposite side of California’s border, Death Valley! It was through here that thousands of pioneers took a short cut while journeying west, many of them perishing in the attempt. Los Angeles is an important center of culture, medicine, agriculture, business, finance, energy, aerospace, science, food processing, media, international trade, and tourism. Many major motion picture deals and premieres still occur in Los Angeles, but the vast majority of those films are actually shot elsewhere. Most of them ultimately flee elsewhere after they get sick and tired of being chased by crazed fans, tourists, and paparazzi, and only after they've hooked up with the top talent agents in Hollywood (meaning that now the best scripts and songs come to them, rather than the other way around). Thus, L.A. is notorious for its celebrity-oriented culture, as exemplified by the "star maps" sold at tourist traps which feature known locations of celebrities' homes.

Earthquake California 2015. FREMONT -- A 4.0-magnitude earthquake jolted people out of bed and caused early morning delays on BART Tuesday, officials said. The earthquake was centered in Fremont and struck at 2:41 a.m., the United States Geological Survey reported. By 6:39 a.m., the USGS reported 13 aftershocks, the largest being a magnitude 2.6. According to police, several people called to report the earthquake but there were no calls reporting any significant damage. Residents across the Bay Area, including those in Pleasanton, San Ramon and in San Francisco, tweeted about being awakened by the quake. BART experienced 30-minute delays around 4:30 a.m., as the agency checked on the tracks. All trains were cleared before 5:30 a.m. but residual delays were expected to continue for at least part of the commute.

For the past 4-5 months I was completely indulged in my other profession which is Real Estate. I did have photo clients but I had to put all my personal projects on hold. Including my “12 Months in Flowers” project. I guess this is the consequences of having two careers. I love my photo clients and I love to photograph each and every one of them, but only personal projects of mine help me grow and explore new things. I get inspiration from them and learn new techniques that I can apply to my clients later. Last week I realized that I absolutely must have a photo shoot. I grabbed my team (which is my dear HMUA Irina Yalcin and my right hand and a videographer husband), grabbed my model and we went on a “camping” trip. I met Lyuba a few months ago. She is very unique and such a positive person. Combine tattoos, pink hair, fitness, and a competitive pole dancing and you will get her. Since the first day I met her, I knew I had to photograph her. But I did not know how. My style is very pastel, feminine and romantic. And here we had a tattooed girl with neon pink hair. But it’s amazing how the contrast like this worked out pretty well. We went to a local park in Fremont, set up a gazebo and used a canvas fabric as a background. The difused light was incredible but it was very windy and for a moment I thought we are done here. But as usual we made it work in any conditions. To this day I am so grateful for all my models, because they are willing to do whatever I say. Create totally uncomfortable poses, be bare feet in cold, freeze or sweat while getting photographed due to weather conditions, change clothes in public several times. All for the sake of a photograph. I have so much gratitude towards their trust in me! After the photo shoot, Lyuba told me: “Kate, they way you photograph, it seems like you are in love with every model of yours”. And I thought, that she is right. The minute I have a model in front of my camera I get so inspired. I see so much beauty in every woman that I can’t stop photographing.
