Law enforcement broadly refers to any system by which some members of society act in an organized manner to promote adherence to the law by discovering and punishing persons who violate the rules and norms governing that society. Although the term may encompass entities such as courts and prisons, it is most frequently applied to those who directly engage in patrols or surveillance to dissuade and discover criminal activity, and those who investigate crimes and apprehend offenders. Furthermore, although law enforcement may be most concerned with the prevention and punishment of crimes, organizations exist to discourage a wide variety of non-criminal violations of rules and norms, effected through the imposition of less severe consequences.
Most law enforcement is conducted by some type of law enforcement agency, with the most typical agency fulfilling this role being the police. Societal investment in law enforcement through such organizations can be massive, both in terms of the resources invested in the activity, and in the number of people professionally engaged to perform those functions.

The Broken Window Theory of policing used by Commissioner Bratton is a Broken Policy and Theory. Commissioner Bratton has used it as another cover for NO TOLERANCE policing.
There has been no clear evidence that his theory has actually produced better living conditions for the communities it is has been applied to. The end result is police officers harassing a certain community for minor offences and instead of building stronger relationships with the communities; the relationships are strained and highly combustible.
We have seen the civil rights of our mothers, sisters, fathers and brothers repeatedly violated and abused. How many more reports of police misconduct and criminality must we hear about before there is true accountability of officers that cross the line and violate policies and procedures in NYPD?
On Wednesday, July 30, 2014, One Police Plaza, Black Law Enforcement Organizations from throughout New York State will gather to voice our outrage of the lack of control and accountability of Commissioner Bratton and Mayor de Blasio of the NYPD when it come to Police Criminality among NYPD rank and file.

This short training film provides an overview of how trauma impacts victims and how law enforcement or other first responders can implement a trauma informed response and approach to sexual assault survivors.
The training film features Dr. Rebecca Campbell and Chief Tom Tremblay (Ret.) and law enforcement professionals from across Michigan. The video was developed by the Michigan Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention and Treatment Board in partnership with the Violence Against Women Project of the Prosecuting Attorney’s Association of Michigan.
The film has two parts that allow it to be viewed in its’ entirety at an in-service training (22 minutes) or in separate roll call trainings (13 minutes and 9 minutes).

Black Law Enforcement Organziations Denounce NYPD Commissioner Bratton
The recent killing of Eric Garner — a man killed by NYPD Officers while using an illegal chokehold to restrain him— is just apiece in a larger puzzle of deep-rooted “isms” in the institution of law enforcement in the NYPD. Since the exposure of the Garner choking, videos have surfaced on social media and in the news of other “out of control” NYPD Officers clearly violating “Use of Force” Policy and Procedures. Like the Eric Garner incident, officers receive only minimum punishment. The Broken Window Theory of policing used by Commissioner Bratton is a Broken Policy and Theory. Commissioner Bratton has used it as another cover for NO TOLERANCE policing. There has been no clear evidence that his theory has actually produced better living conditions for the communities it is has been applied to. The end result is police officers harassing a certain community for minor offences and instead of building stronger relationships with the communities; the relationships are strained and highly combustible. We have seen the civil rights of our mothers, sisters, fathers and brothers repeatedly violated and abused. How many more reports of police misconduct and criminality must we hear about before there is true accountability of officers that cross the line and violate policies and procedures in NYPD? On Wednesday, July 30, 2014, One Police Plaza, Black Law Enforcement Organizations from throughout New York State will gather to voice our outrage of the lack of control and accountability of Commissioner Bratton and Mayor de Blasio of the NYPD when it come to Police Criminality among NYPD rank and file. This short training film provides an overview of how trauma impacts victims and how law enforcement or other first responders can implement a trauma informed response and approach to sexual assault survivors. The training film features Dr. Rebecca Campbell and Chief Tom Tremblay (Ret.) and law enforcement professionals from across Michigan. The video was developed by the Michigan Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention and Treatment Board in partnership with the Violence Against Women Project of the Prosecuting Attorney’s Association of Michigan. The film has two parts that allow it to be viewed in its’ entirety at an in-service training (22 minutes) or in separate roll call trainings (13 minutes and 9 minutes).
