February 5, 2015 (Persian calendar 1393/11/16) Despite having gained a notorious reputation from parts of the Israeli and American media, Iran is quite the contrary as it is a peaceful nation that is attracted many local medical tourists. There indeed has been a boon in medical tourism in Iran, which has managed to attract clients despite the political strife and has managed to differentiate between the two words Muslim and terrorists that the media and people use interchangeably. Iran has proved to be an example to other nations in proving that what global media portrays and what the state of political affairs is do not affect medical tourism. Iran also owes this influx because of its convenient geographical location, the prevailing conditions in the adjoining countries, its affordable prices and state of the art medical facilities. Iran has now become the destination for regional and Islamic medical tourists. There are many hospitals in Iranian cities with advanced healthcare facilities for foreign medical tourists. Iran has become a favourite medical destination as it bears close religious and cultural similarities. In terms of scientific development, the country has proved itself a leader in the region, thanks to highly qualified workforce. It is amongst the top five nations of the world in the biotech industry and produces nearly nine out of 15 high usage biotech molecules. Iran is the perfect destination for medical tourism based on two different aspects - firstly there are many mineral fountains that exist in many parts of the country, which attract those looking for a wellness or therapeutic advantage. - Secondly, it has state of the art medical procedures ranging from eye surgery to stem cell treatment. As per the current figures, Iran gains at least 30 thousand medical tourists on a yearly basis, apart from 200,000 tourists who visit the country for health, wellness and spa tourists. There are a lot of benefits and advantages that the patient receives whilst visiting Iran on a medical trip. The Health Tourism Committee in Iran has a series of rules and regulations that include valid licenses that the hospitals and clinics need to obtain. It offers trainings pertaining to health service and arranges accommodation and airport transfers as well. Moreover, there is also the rule that a nurse can be dedicated to a single patient. Summary: The key market for medical tourism in the case of Iran is the Persian Gulf region, who usually takes their patients to Europe. Now there is an increasing influx of patients from Eastern Europe and Asian countries as well like Azerbaijan, India, Pakistan, Iraq, etc. Iran has now catapulted its position in the region as one of the prime destinations for medical tourism given the fact that it is cultural, religiously similar, and scientifically more superior.

My name's Michael and I'm the Marketing Manager for Wild Frontiers. I'm here at the magnificent site of Persepolis in Iran. I've been in Iran for two weeks now and so far I've been enchanted by this fascinating country. CITIES The capital Tehran is most people's starting point, and in this busy city you can see ostentatious ornaments from the royal household in the crown jewels museum, and wander around the Shah's old residence, Golestan Palace. Just north of Tehran you can visit the Elburz Mountains for skiing in the winter or hiking in the summer. But the real highlights lie elsewhere. In the off-the-beaten-track city of Yazd you'll find a cityscape dotted with the ingenious wind tunnels -- which could be described as the world's first air-conditioning system - the ancient Zoroastrian site of the Towers of Silence, the magnificent Friday Mosque and a number of beautiful palaces and gardens. Shiraz meanwhile is a lovely university town, known as the city of poets, wine, literature and flowers, and is a real delight. I particularly loved visiting the atmospheric tomb of the Persian poet Hafez. In the evenings it has a magical atmosphere as people gather to read poetry and celebrate the life of this revered poet. Shiraz is also blessed with numerous picturesque mosques and beautiful gardens. The jewel in the Persian crown is undoubtedly the beautiful city of Esfahan, which has one of the largest squares in the world in the breathtaking Naqsh Jahan Square and probably the most stunning Islamic architecture found anywhere. Esfahan is unbelievably picturesque, with its famed bridges and lively bazaars. ANCIENT SITES Iran has a long and rich history, with the Persian Empire at one point ruling over 44% of the world's population. The country is home to some world-class archaeological sites, including the rock-carved tombs of Nagsh e Rostam, where Darius the great is buried, and the spectacular Achamaenid palace complex at Persepolis. This ancient palace was built by Darius the Great to celebrate events such as the Persian New Year, when representatives from the four corners of the empire would congregate. This vast site merits at least a couple of hours to explore the ruins and bas reliefs. SCENERY But it's not only about the cities and ancient sites, the scenery of Iran is an unexpected highlight. From beautiful picnic spots such as the Murgon Waterfalls, to fertile valleys in the Bavanat Mountains, where you can encounter Kashqai nomads and see a way of life that has changed little over centuries. In the Dena mountains around Yasuj you'll find an alpine scenery of snow-capped mountains, lakes and streams. It is well worth spending some time away from the better-known cultural sites to explore this lesser-known side of Iran. It really is a beautiful country. THE PEOPLE The people of Iran are another real highlight, being welcoming and keen to engage in conversation about everything from politics to football. You are likely to be surrounded by schoolkids asking you questions, offered tea and invited to share in picnics with the locals pretty much wherever you go. If ever a people were misrepresented by a regime it would be the Iranians. Thanks to a baby boom in the 80's, over 60% of its 70 million population are aged under 30. This generation is well-educated, worldly, and exposed to global media through the internet. Walking around the streets -- which are incidentally very safe - this certainly feels like a nation on the cusp of change. So forget about any preconceptions you may have about safety, security, or the welcome you'll receive in Iran. In this version, the last episode of Iran Travel Guide, Mohsen Nazaran , the host of the show traveled to Kish Island. It is part of the Hormozgan Province of Iran. Due to its free trade zone status, it is touted as a consumer's paradise, with numerous malls, shopping centres, tourist attractions, and resort hotels. Then he went to Tezerj waterfall in Hormozgan Province. Then, to The Borujerdi House, a historic house in Kashan. The house was built in 1857. It consists of a rectangular beautiful courtyard, delightful wall paintings by the royal painter Kamal-ol-molk, and three 40 meter tall wind towers which help cool the house to unusually cool temperatures. The house took eighteen years to build using 150 craftsmen. Then he went to Abyaneh, Shemshak ski resort in Tehran, Chehel Sotoun in Isfahan, the old bazzar of Isfahan and Shoormast lake in Mazandaran province.

Iran looks to Turkey for post-sanctions tourism boom

As Iran sees the light at the end of the tunnel of Western sanctions due to a recent deal, the Islamic republic is preparing to cooperate with Turkey in the field of tourism, according to a senior statesman. “The leaders of both countries have expressed their determination on the issue,” said Masoud Soltanifar, the Iranian vice president and Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization chief, during a press conference in Tehran, the Anadolu Agency reported on April 23. The two countries are projecting to cooperate in the construction of new hotels, carrying renowned hotel chains to the country and operating tours, Soltanifar said, praising Turkey as an experienced country in the field. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with his Iranian counterpart, Hassan Rouhani, on April 7 in a Tehran meeting under the shadow of the differences between the two countries, particularly on the Saudi-led airstrikes against Yemeni rebels and the war in Syria. Global tourism revenues stood at $1.5 trillion last year, though Iran received just 0.5 percent of it, said the Iranian official. Iran stood at 46th in terms of attracting foreign tourists and ranked 33rd in terms of revenues from foreign visitors, Soltanifar said. “We aim at 20 million foreign tourists in 2025, increasing revenues to $30 billion,” he said. Turkey has been investing in tourism for 25 or 30 years, he said, noting that he also expected more Turkish visitors to the country. The number of foreign tourists visiting Iran via tour operators jumped 96 percent last year over the previous year, but tourism in the country is still under the negative influence of the U.S and Western sanctions, he said. Soltanifar also said the sanctions were putting a burden on the Iranian air fleet. “We cannot buy parts for some of our planes which cannot fly now because of the sanctions. We were prevented from buying new planes, thus there is no direct flight to Tehran to the capital cities of some countries,” he said. Foreign investors have also been blocked from investing in Iran, he complained, raising hopes that many companies would seek Iranian businesses once the sanctions end. Iran and major world powers were holding a second day of talks on April 23, seeking to finalize a historic deal that would make any attempt by Tehran to make a nuclear weapon extremely difficult and easily detectable. Meeting in Vienna, Iran and the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council plus Germany wanted to turn a framework accord reached in Switzerland on April 2 into a full agreement by June 30. Iran, which has denied wanting the atomic bomb, is set to scale down its nuclear program for 10 to 15 years or more, depending on the area of activity, and allow closer U.N. inspections. The exact details of how this will work in practice, and in particular the scale and timeframe under which the powers will lift the painful sanctions, still needed to be nailed down and experts have warned it will be a difficult process.
