Masuleh in Fuman County, Gilan Province, Iran Masouleh is located about 1,050 meters above sea level, but the range of elevation varies by over a hundred meters in the village. The roofs of houses on lower tiers are used as courtyards for houses on the tiers above them. In some cases, public streets are laid out along interconnected roofs. The organic layout and steep stairs have made motor vehicles impractical, so they are banned in the village. http://www.iranreview.org/content/Documents/Masouleh-Village-On-the-Rooftops.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masuleh http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Attraction_Review-g680032-d5953780-Reviews-Masouleh_Village-Masuleh_Gilan_Province.html http://poeticliterature.com/

Beautiful, 5 Amazing Places in Iran. It might not be on everyone's travel radar, but Iran has a well-worn tourist circuit, encompassing attractions in the ancient cities of Shiraz and Isfahan. For those wanting to get off the beaten path, the country has a wealth of lesser-known destinations that rival the stunning beauty and historical significance of their more famous counterparts. Here are five of the best: beautiful places in iran, best places in iran, best places to travel in iran, best places in dubai, best places in the world, best places to travel around the world, best places to visit in the world, beautiful place in the word, travel, Rudkhan Castle Hidden in the humid green forests of Iran's northern Gilan province is Rudkhan Castle, a medieval military fortress whose origins predate the rise of Islam in Iran. Few foreign tourists have visited the site, which is a popular attraction among Iranians. Work started on the castle during the Persian Sassanid era, between A.D. 224 and 651. Followers of the Ismaili sect (the infamous "Assassins" or "Hashashin") are believed to have renovated and completed the fortress during the late 11th to 12th centuries. Bekhradi Historical House This 400-year-old inn built in Persia's Safavid era features four tastefully decorated multiroomed guest suites and is the oldest house to be restored in Iran. Its renovation and artistic restoration took local interior designer and restoration specialist Morteza Bekhradi five years to engineer and complete. Peppered with stained-glass windows and original artwork from the Safavid and subsequent Qajar eras, the house sits between two gardens replete with fruits and wildflowers. Soltaniyeh Dome A UNESCO World Heritage site in the northwestern province of Zanjan, the mausoleum of Oljaytu at Soltaniyeh is topped by one of the world's largest domes. Built between 1302 and 1312 in Soltaniyeh, the capital city of the Mongols' Ilkhanid Dynasty, the monument is a mausoleum for Il-khan Oljeitu, the Ilkhanid's eighth ruler. Though much of the structure's exterior coloring and tiles have faded through the centuries, the intricate brickwork, tilework and vibrant designs inside the mausoleum have remained largely unscathed. Laleh Kandovan Rocky Hotel About 30 miles outside the northwestern city of Tabriz lies the troglodyte village of Kandovan. People here live in cone-shaped caves cut out of volcanic rock at the foot of Mount Sahand, a dormant volcano. Nestled within the 800-year-old village, the Laleh Kandovan Rocky Hotel has been literally hand-carved into the rocky landscape, with each of the luxury hotel's 16 modernized rooms encompassing a cave, or "karaan." Toghrol Tower Toghrol Tower is a Seljuk-era monument situated in the city of Rey, on the southern outskirts of Iran's capital city, Tehran. Often overlooked by visitors who tend to stick to the higher-income northern and central areas of the Iranian capital, Rey is the oldest county in Tehran province and is speckled with historical monuments, including a 500-year-old Safavid-era bazaar. The tower is said to serve as the mausoleum for Seljuk king Toghrol Beg, who established Rey as a major administrative center of the Seljuk Dynasty until its destruction by Mongol armies in the early 13th century. beautiful places in iran, best places in iran, best places to travel in iran, best places in dubai, best places in the world, best places to travel around the world, best places to visit in the world, beautiful place in the word, travel, Beautiful, 5 Amazing Places in Iran. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxX9RQPvTEc

Time-lapse Video from Tehran to North of Iran (Shomal) "Shomal" is a nickname that most Iranians use this word for the whole part of northern Iran. It's one of the main domestic tourism destination and people who live in capital city Tehran can travel there within 3-5 hours. This happens at almost every opportunity in weekends and public holidays. There are several roads which connect Tehran to the two main northern provinces of Iran (Mazandaran & Guilan). The main roads have been constructed during the era of Reza Shah about 80 years ago. these main roads including this one are: Haraz, Chalus (road 59) & Firuzkuh. I've never traveled like this before. I'm used to air travel and occasionally a long car ride. But, on this journey around Asia it's all about train travel -- it's cheap, convenient, and you can travel overnight. I've tried out every class on the trains. I've been a VIP in my own private cabin. I've tried the soft sleeper, hard sleeper, bottom, middle, and top bunks. I sleep well on the train, as the rocking lulls me to sleep. I awake to a new city and a new adventure -- it's great! But, what happens when all the sleeper cars are sold out? You end up in a hard seat. That's how we traveled from Xian to Guilin, the longest train journey of my life. I was nervous about this journey. It turned out better than I expected, which is not to say it was great. It was an experience and as travelers share stories, this is our badge of honor. We survived 28 hours on a train! We survived the noise. Chinese people are talkative, vivacious, and very loud. I kept asking myself: Why is everyone yelling? The noise was never ending. We survived the lack of personal space. This isn't an issue for the Chinese. They don't have that luxury in such a crowded country. So, seated five across, knees touching, shoulder to shoulder we made our trip. Some people had "standing room only" tickets. They sat in the aisles, slept across the bathroom sinks, under chairs and clogged up the passage ways between train cars. Just walking to the bathroom was like participating in an obstacle course. We survived the stares. As far as we could tell, we were the only Westerners on board. Furtive glances are not the name of the game. Some people flat out stared for what seemed like an eternity. If I walked through one train car full of students, I was busy waving both hands as I was greeted with shouts of "hellos" and giggles. We survived the bathrooms. There is no toilet seat. You squat and hope you don't fall over as the train sways. Hold your nose, ignore what you're stepping in and don't forget to bring your own toilet paper. Few bathrooms plus many people = stink. We survived the lack of sleep, boredom, achy backs and behinds and the swollen ankles. It was no picnic, but it was worth it! Our final destination was the Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces. The views were simply breathtaking and it was my favorite location in China.
Zahi Shaked A tour guide in Israel and his camera zahigo25@walla.com 9726905522 tel סיור עם מורה הדרך ומדריך הטיולים צחי שקד 0546905522 My name is Zahi Shaked In 2000 I became a registered liscenced tourist guide. My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land. Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity. In order to fulfill this "calling" in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters) Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, "glide" over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water and "see" the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be inplanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.

noodls 2014-10-07Gilan Province (Persian: استان گیلان, Ostān-e Gīlān ) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. It lies along the Caspian Sea, just west of the province of Mazandaran, east of the province of Ardabil, north of the provinces of Zanjan and Qazvin. The northern part of the province is part of territory of South (Iranian) Talysh. At the center of the province is the main city of Rasht. Other towns in the province include Astara, Astaneh-e Ashrafiyyeh, Fuman, Lahijan, Langrud, Masouleh, Manjil, Rudbar, Roudsar, Shaft, Talesh, and Soumahe Sara.
The main harbor port of the province is Bandar-e Anzali (previously Bandar-e Pahlavi).
During the Persian era, this area was a province known as Daylam (sometimes Daylaman, Dailam or Delam). The Daylam region corresponds to the modern region of Gīlān. It was the place of origin of the Buyid dynasty. The people of the province had a prominent position during the Sassanid dynasty, their presence extended to Mesopotamia.
The first recorded encounter between Gilak and Deylamite warlords and invading Muslim Arab armies was at the Battle of Jalula in 637 AD. Deylamite commander Muta led an army of Gils, Deylamites, Azerbaijanis and people of the Rey region. Muta was killed in the battle and his defeated army managed to retreat in an orderly manner.
The Gilaki people (in Gilaki: گیلک) are an Iranian people whose homeland is the Gilan Province in northwest Iran. They are also found in the eastward neighboring province of Mazandaran. Along with the Mazandarani people, the Gilaki comprise one of the Caspian people, inhabiting the southern coastal region of the Caspian Sea. They speak the Gilaki language, which is closely related to Mazandarani. Gilaki is not a dialect of Persian, but it shares many words with it as well as with Kurdish. The Mazandarani people call their language Geleki or Gilaki but more recently call it Mazani or Mazandarani from the name of their province. ^ a b c d e f g C.S.
