LaDonna Adrian Gaines (December 31, 1948 – May 17, 2012), known by the stage name Donna Summer, was an American singer and songwriter who gained prominence during the disco era of the late 1970s. She had a mezzo-soprano vocal range, and was a five-time Grammy Award winner. Summer was the first artist to have three consecutive double albums reach number one on the United States Billboard chart, and she also charted four number-one singles in the United States within a 13-month period.
Born into a devoutly Christian lower middle class African American family in Boston, Massachusetts, Summer first became involved with singing through church choir groups before joining a number of bands influenced by the Motown Sound. Influenced by the counterculture of the 1960s, she became the front singer of a psychedelic rock band named Crow and moved to New York City. Joining a touring version of the musical Hair, she spent several years living in West Germany, where she married Helmut Sommer, whose surname she adopted as her stage name.

Donna, you won't leave me
You won't leave me
I know why
Without me to bring you comfort
You'd live in darkness
And there you'd die
And Donna speaks of leaving
It's not that easy
And Donna comes to the graveyard
Still dressed in mourning
And calls my name
And sometimes she hears an answer
But now the voices
All sound the same
And Donna, she speaks of leaving
It's not that easy
And you stay, but you say
You're wasting time
And you go, but you know
You're tasting wine
And there's still so much
You'd like to learn
Donna, you won't leave me
You won't leave me
And I know why
You stay here, so close to leaving
I know there's less reason
Each time you try
And Donna, she speaks of leaving
Oh Donna, Oh Donna, Oh Donna, Oh Donna
I had a girl.
Donna was her name.
Since you left me, I've never been the same
Cause I love my girl.
Donna where can you be?
Where can you be?
Now that you're gone I'm left all alone
All by myself to wonder and yoam
Cause I love my girl
Donna where can you be?
Where can you be?
Well, Darling now that you're gone
I don't know what I'll do
Cause I had all my love for you
Oh Donna, Oh Donna, Oh Donna, Oh Donna
Donna was seventeen and
And she had some big dreams
She wanted to be a big star and
Move away out to LA
She's having a rough time now
'Cause she's pregnant with her second child
I'm calling out your name girl
Just to let you know before you go
The storm won't last always
It's gonna be a brighter day
Don't listen to what people might say
The storm won't last always
She's living back with mama now
And her so called friends have let her down
And every night before she sleeps
I can hear her pray
Take my pain away
Wherever you?re going
There is someone who really cares for you
Say Jesus can take your heart and
Make brand new if you let Him in, just let Him in
The storm won't last always
It's gonna be a brighter day
Don't listen to what people might say
The storm won't last always
Lord, I'm so tired of this pain
And I know that You are the only one
That I can depend on right now
So if You please help me, just help
No matter what people say
You can make it anyway
You don't have to be afraid
I know the Lord will make a way
All my burden He will
Gods love will never change
The storm won't last always
It's gonna be a brighter day
Don't listen to what people might say
Donna, pretty as U can be (So pretty)
Oh pretty Donna, when will U ever see (When will U ever see?)
That U belong 2 another man?
And I believe he'll try 2 keep U anyway he can
Donna, I guess it's not meant 2 be
Donna, pretty as U can be
Donna, when will U ever see (When will U ever see? [x2])
That U belong 2 another man?
And I think he will try 2 keep U anyway he can
Donna, I guess it's not meant 2 ..
Donna, I guess it's not meant 2 ..
Donna, I guess it's not meant 2 be
Donna [x2]

'Cause I love my girl
Donna, where can you be
Where can you be
Oh, Donna, Oh, Donna
If you want love to stay
Don't give all your secrets away
It's not the fashion
But hold back your passion
Don't - open your heart
No, don't - share all your dreams in one night
No, don't - tell the whole story
Why should you hurry?
You don't want love to leave
So don't wear your heart on your sleeve
It's not a crime to
Give her some time and
Don't - drive her away
No, don't - love isn't built in a day
No, don't - let it grow stronger
Feed in the hunger
Hold back your passion
You're not an open book
So don't let her take just one look
Under the cover
Let her discover
Don't - stop the surprising
Don't - take all the mystery out of it
Don't - put out the fire
Kill her desire
Don't - open your heart
No, don't - share all your dreams in one night
No, don't - tell the whole story
Why should you hurry?
Don't
Don't, don't
Don't, don't
Don't, don't
Don't, don't
Don't, don't
Don't, don't
Oh Donna, oh Donna
Oh Donna, oh Donna

I don't know, what I'll do
All those time, and all my love for you
I had a girl Donna was her name
Since she left me I've never been the same
'Cause I love my girl
Donna, where can you be?

Donna hat gelogen
sie nahm ihren Mantel
Donna Königin im Kirchenchor
sie ist die Mutter Jesu
haßt ihre Verwandten
sie ist all die Liebe
die ich als Kind verlor
Wenn die Sonne regnet
und die Stummen schrein
und die Eisberge brennen
wirst du verstehn
ich werd für dich da sein
auch wenn nichts mehr geht
Donna große Lieben
tun immer weh
Oh Donna ein Leben lang
ist nicht genug
Oh Donna ein Leben lang
ist für uns beide nicht genug
Donna hat gelogen
sie schenkt mir ihr T-Shirt
Donna hat den Frauen
nie getraut
vergräbt in ihrer Tasche
ein verbotenes Foto
und für ihre Tränen
hat sie ein Boot gebaut
Wenn die Sonne regnet
und die Stummen schrein
und der Teufel betet
wirst du verstehen
ich werd für dich da sein
auch wenn nichts mehr geht
Donna große Lieben
tun immer weh
Oh Donna ein Leben lang
ist nicht genug
Oh Donna ein Leben lang
ist für uns beide nicht genug
Donna hat gelogen
wer kennt ihr Gründe
Donna hat das alles
nie gebraucht
sie hat nach mir gerufen
dann war sie verschwunden
Donna festzuhalten
hätt' ich mich nie getraut
Wenn die Sonne regnet
und die Stummen schrein
und der Teufel betet
wirst du verstehn
ich werd für dich da sein
auch wenn nichts mehr geht
Donna große Lieben
tun immer weh
Oh Donna ein Leben lang
ist nicht genug
Oh Donna ein Leben lang
Ritchie Valens Donna Lyrics:
(Oh, Donna, oh, Donna.)
(Oh, Donna, oh, Donna.)
I had a girl, Donna was her name.
Since she left me I've never been the same.
'Cause I love my girl.
Donna, where can you be?
Where can you be?
Now that you're gone I'm left all alone.
All by myself to wander and roam.
'Cause I love my girl.
Donna, where can you be?
Where can you be?
Well, darlin', now that you're gone,
I don't know what I'll do.
All the time and all my love for yo-ou-ou.
I had a girl, Donna was her name.
Since she's been gone I've never been the same.
'Cause I love my girl.
Donna, where can you be? Where can you be?
Oh, Donna.
Oh, Donna.
Oh, Donna.
[Fade.]
Oh, Donna.
I had a girl
Donna was her name
Since she left me
I've never been the same
'cause I love my girl
Donna, where can you be? Where can you be?
Now that you're gone
I'm left all alone
All by myself
To wander and roam
'cause I love my girl
Donna, where can you be? Where can you be?
Well, darlin', now that you're gone
I don't know what I'll do
All the time and all my love for yo-ou-ou
I had a girl
Donna was her name
Since she left me
I've never been the same
'cause I love my girl
Donna, where can you be? Where can you be?
Oh, Donna, Oh, Donna
Sei l’unica stella
Silenziosa ma bella
Tu cosa ne sai.
Sei la corsa nel vento
Di un’auto verso il mare
Tu cosa ne sai.
Sei la voce che torna
Nelle notti di luna
Dopo un amore svanito
Sotto una stella caduta.
Il tuo vecchio profumo
Sotto un abito strano
Le tue ciglia come ali perdute.
Quando ? l’ora che torni
Tu mi appari cos? donna…
Donna… donna…
Forse torner? da te
Forse torner? da te
Per convincermi che ti chiamerei ancora
Donna…
Un brivido dentro
Un’ora d’amore
Tu cosa ne sai.
Un battito d’ali
Ancora l’amore
Tu cosa ne sai.
Sei la voce che torna…
In un sogno di ghiaccio
Ti ritrover? donna…
Oh Donna
Oh Donna
Oh Donna
Oh Donna
I had a girl Donna was her name
Since she left me well I've never been the same
'Cause I love my girl, Donna where can you be?
And now that you're gone I'm left here all alone
All by myself to wander and roam
How I love my girl, Donna where can you be?
Oh Donna, now that you're gone
I don't know what to do
All my love and all my kisses
Were for you, you just you
I had a girl Donna was her name
Since she's been gone I've never been the same
'Cause I love my girl, Donna where can you be?
Oh Donna, now that you're gone
I don't know what to do
All my love and all my kisses
Were for you
I had a girl Donna was her name
Since she's been gone, I've never been the same
I love my girl, Donna where, where can you be?
Oh Donna
Oh Donna
Oh Donna
Oh, Donna, Oh, Donna
Oh, Donna, Oh, Donna
I had a girl, Donna was her name
Since she left me I've never been the same
'Cause I love my girl, Donna where can you be
Where can you be?
Now that you're gone, I'm left all alone
All by myself to wander and roam
'Cause I love my girl, Donna, where can you be
Where can you be?
Well, darlin', now that you're gone
I don't know what I'll do
All the time and all my love
For you.
I had a girl Donna was her name
Since she left me I've never been the same
'Cause I love my girl, Donna, where can you be
Where can you be?
Oh, Donna.
Oh, Donna.
Oh Donna, won't ya pick me up tomorrow?
I need to get out of this place I'm in, and get my life in order.
Although this world, just might fall apart,
I've got enough in my heart to get us started.
Come with me, oh, I'm beggin' you please,
or just say goodbye, cuz' this is the end of me.
Let's go far away from here, and not come back until the
coast is clear. I'm fallin', thinkin' of you, I count the days
and all the funny things we do. I'm so sorrym now you
ignore me, tried to explain, but it's such a long story.
Now ya never call me, saw you in the lobby,
you smiled, then pretended that you never saw me
[Chorus]
doo-doo, doot-doo-doo-doo, doot-doo-doo-doo, doot-

Once upon a looking-for-Donna-time
There was a sixteen year old virgin
Oh Donna oh oh Donna oh oh oh
Looking for my Donna
I just got back from looking for Donna
San Francisco
Psychedelic urchin
Oh Donna oh oh Donna oh oh oh
Looking for my Donna
Have you seen
My sixteen year old tattooed woman
Heard a story
She got busted for her beauty oh oh oh

Looking for my Donna
I've been to India and saw the yogi light (lie?)
In South America the Indian smoke glows bright
I'm reincarnated and so are we all
And in this lifetime we'll rise
Before we fall
Before we fall
Once upon a looking-for-Donna-time

Oh Donna oh oh Donna oh oh oh
Looking for my Donna

Life on earth can be sweet
Gonna lay my mutated head (self) at her feet
And I'm gonna love her make love to her
Till the sky turns brown
I'm evolving I'm evolving

Oh, Donna, oh, Donna
Oh, Donna, oh, Donna
Oh, Donna, oh, Donna
If I had one wish
It would be for Donna
One pair of lips
Only hers on mine
No, I can't resist
Any thought of Donna
Takes a hold of my heart
Like a clinging vine
Have you ever wanted something
So bad it makes you blind?
And each night
It's the last thing on your mind
Oh Donna all I wanna do
Is somehow make you mine
Maybe your heart's
Not the hurting kind
I've been getting worse
Hypnotized by Donna
In a social decline
That's what people say
If I can't converse
It's because of Donna
Don't be asking me
For the time of day
Have you ever wanted something
So bad it makes you blind?
And each night
It's the last thing on your mind
Donna Donna I gave up on
Trying to be fine
What's been running
Up and down my spine
Have you ever wanted something
So bad it makes you blind?
And each night
It's the last thing on your mind
Oh Donna all I wanna do
Is somehow make you mine
Maybe your heart's
Oh, Donna, Oh, Donna

I had girl, Donna was her name
Since she left me, I've never been the same
'Cause I love my girl, Donna where can you be
Where can you be
It's tragic
Laid down on your side
Too easy
You know that you know
You're soaking wet
You talk too much
It's not necessary
Before the ice melts
I just want to say
This packet's yours
Don't ask for more
Cos somewhere along the line
I've forgotten already
