Damascus (Arabic: دِمَشق / ALA-LC: Dimashq; commonly known in Syria as al-Sham (Arabic: الشام / al-Shām), and as the City of Jasmine (Arabic: مدينة الياسمين / Madīnat al-Yāsmīn), is the capital and the second largest city of Syria. Both are part of the country's 14 governorates. In addition to being one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, Damascus is a major cultural and religious center of the Levant. The city has an estimated population of 1,711,000 (2009 est.).
Located in southwestern Syria, Damascus is the center of a large metropolitan area of 2.6 million people (2004). Geographically embedded on the eastern foothills of the Anti-Lebanon mountain range 80 kilometres (50 mi) inland from the eastern shore of the Mediterranean on a plateau 680 metres (2,230 ft) above sea-level, Damascus experiences a semi-arid climate due to the rain shadow effect. The Barada River flows through Damascus.
First settled in the 2nd millennium BC, it was chosen as the capital of the Umayyad Caliphate from 661 to 750. After the victory of the Abbasid dynasty, the seat of Islamic power was moved to Baghdad. Damascus saw a political decline throughout the Abbasid era, only to regain significant importance in the Ayyubid and Mamluk periods. During Ottoman rule, the city decayed completely while maintaining a certain cultural prestige. Today, it is the seat of the central government and all of the government ministries. Damascus was chosen as the 2008 Arab Capital of Culture.

Aram-Damascus (/ˈɛrəm/ or /ˈærəm dəˈmæskəs/) was an Aramaean state around Damascus in Syria, from the late 12th century BCE to 732 BCE. Sources for this state come from texts that can be divided into three categories: Assyrian annals, Aramaean texts, and the Hebrew Bible. The largest portion of the textual sources come from Assyria. There are, however, often several copies of the same texts. Most of the texts are annals from the Assyrian kings Shalmaneser III, Adad-Nirari III, and Tiglath-Pileser III. The texts mention Aram-Damascus from an Assyrian perspective, but are in many ways informative of the strength of the state, and give us several names of its rulers. Aramaean royal inscriptions are rare, and only one royal stele from Aram-Damascus proper has been identified — the Tel Dan Stele. Other sources in Aramaic that shed light on the history of Aram-Damascus include two "booty inscriptions" from Eretria and Samos, and the Zakkur stele of the king Zakkur. The Hebrew Bible gives more detailed accounts of Aram-Damascus' history, mainly in its interaction with Israel. For instance, there are texts of the Bible mentioning David's battles against Aramaeans in southern Syria in the 10th century BCE. (2 Samuel 10:6-19) In contrast, the sources for the early history of Aram-Damascus are almost nonexistent. In an annal dating to Tiglath-Pileser I (1114-1076 BCE), we learn that Aramaean people have begun settling in the southern half of Syria. The first reliable data can be found in the 9th century BCE when Aramaean, Assyrian, and Hebrew texts all mention a state with its capital in Damascus. The state seems to have reached its peak in the late 9th century BCE under Hazael, who, according to Assyrian texts, fought against the Assyrians, and according to Aramaean texts, had some influence over the north Syrian state Unqi, and according to Hebrew texts, conquered all of Israel.(2 Kings 13:3) To the southwest, Aram-Damascus reached over most of Golan to the Sea of Galilee. In the 8th century BCE, Rezin had been a tributary of Tiglath-Pileser III, the king of Assyria. In c. 732 BCE, he allied himself with Pekah, the king of Israel, to attack Ahaz, the king of Judah. However, Ahaz appealed to Tiglath-Pileser III for help. This the Assyrian king obliged, after Judah paid tribute to the Assyrian king. (2 Kings 16:7-9) As a result, Tiglath-Pileser III sacked Damascus and annexed Aram. According to 2 Kings 16:9, the population was deported and Rezin executed. Tiglath-Pileser also records this act in one of his inscriptions. Archaeological evidence of Aram-Damascus is close to nothing. Excavations in Damascus are hard to perform, owing to the continuous settlement of the city. Other cities of Aram-Damascus have not been positively identified from textual sources, and excavations of Iron Age sites around Damascus are almost nonexistent. The material culture at sites farther south (e.g. Tell-Ashtara, Tell er-Rumeith, et-Tell, Tel-Dan, Tell el-Oreme, to name but a few) do not show many features distinguishing from the material culture of ancient northern Israel.

The Ackerman Family Bar-Ilan University Expedition to Gath, headed by Prof. Aren Maeir, has discovered the fortifications and entrance gate of the biblical city of Gath of the Philistines, home of Goliath and the largest city in the land during the 10th-9th century BCE, about the time of the "United Kingdom" of Israel and King Ahab of Israel. The excavations are being conducted in the Tel Zafit National Park, located in the Judean Foothills, about halfway between Jerusalem and Ashkelon in central Israel.
Prof. Maeir, of the Martin (Szusz) Department of Land of Israel Studies and Archaeology, said that the city gate is among the largest ever found in Israel and is evidence of the status and influence of the city of Gath during this period. In addition to the monumental gate, an impressive fortification wall was discovered, as well as various building in its vicinity, such as a temple and an iron production facility. These features, and the city itself were destroyed by Hazael King of Aram Damascus, who besieged and destroyed the site at around 830 BCE.
The city gate of Philistine Gath is referred to in the Bible (in I Samuel 21) in the story of David's escape from King Saul to Achish, King of Gath.
Now in its 20th year, the Ackerman Family Bar-Ilan University Expedition to Gath, is a long-term investigation aimed at studying the archaeology and history of one of the most important sites in Israel. Tell es-Safi/Gath is one of the largest tells (ancient ruin mounds) in Israel and was settled almost continuously from the 5th millennium BCE until modern times.
The archaeological dig is led by Prof. Maeir, along with groups from the University of Melbourne, University of Manitoba, Brigham Young University, Yeshiva University, University of Kansas, Grand Valley State University of Michigan, several Korean universities and additional institutions throughout the world.

Located in southwestern Syria, Damascus is the center of a large metropolitan area of 2.6 million people (2004).[3] Geographically embedded on the eastern foothills of the Anti-Lebanon mountain range 80 kilometres (50 mi) inland from the eastern shore of the Mediterranean on a plateau 680 metres (2,230 ft) above sea-level, Damascus experiences a semi-arid climate due to the rain shadow effect. The Barada River flows through Damascus.

Travel video about destination Damascus in Syria.
Damascus is the capital of Syria and is a symbol of culture in the Near East. A hundred kilometres from the Mediterranean coast, the strategically located city was once the capital of the Umayyad.Cannons, the busts of various presidents and military vehicles are displayed in the large courtyard of the Takiyeh Mosque, an ancient Dervish monastery complex. Built in 1554 and designed by Ottoman master architect, Sinan, it also includes an adjoining inn for the numerous pilgrims who travelled to Mecca. Damascus has always been much prized: by the pharaohs and the Babylonian monarch, Nebukadnezar, and later, Alexander The Great. Then came Persian, Roman and Islamic emperors followed by the Crusaders and Mongols. The Kalaa Citadel is situated on the periphery of the old town that was once surrounded by huge walls. It was from here that Saladin fended off the attacks of the Crusaders. The Romans built a fort here that was constantly extended with impressive walls and towers and located directly outside the city wall, the River Barada was also of strategic importance. Although the Mongols destroyed the inner buildings, the fortress walls survived. The Suq is an important part of every Islamic city, a market that originated in ancient times. Thousands of shops in numerous interconnected lanes form the commercial heart of Damascus. In the Gold Suq everything glitters, bracelets, rings and even a large variety of kitchen utensils. Damascus has for thousands of years been a place desired by the powerful. Yet it has managed to survive and is still the most beautiful capital city in the Near East.

Travel video about destination Railroad to Damascus in Turkey.
This extraordinary journey begins in Istanbul, golden gateway to the Orient and a city that was once the centre of the Old World, as reflected by its long history. The Turkish metropolis once had sonorous names such as Constantinople and Byzanz. This gateway between Europe and Asia is not only the biggest city in Turkey, but also a melting pot of various cultures. In 1453, the Hagia Sofia, one of the world’s most extraordinary churches, was transformed into a mosque by Sultan Mehmet and is now an impressive museum. The Grand Basare is a city within a city and through a large gate there is a labyrinth of corridors that were built over many centuries. On the magnificent banks of the Bosporus the Dolmabahce Palace shines out, the city’s third largest sultan’s palace. Istanbul’s regal buildings are the most beautiful legacy of Osmanic architecture. Next, a train journey from Istanbul to Damascus. The train slowly leaves Istanbul and travels into the night, our destination being the capital of Syria that is around three thousand kilometres away. Cappadocia in Anatolia is known for some of the largest and most beautiful fairy chimneys – a name given to its strange rock formations - in Cappadocia the sight of which was surely much appreciated by the first religious hermits who settled here inside the actual tuff cones. We eventually arrive in Damascus, capital of Syria and symbol of culture in the Near East, a veritable ‘paradise on earth’ situated a hundred kilometres from the Mediterranean coast. The train journey from Istanbul to Damascus has been tantamount to being a journey through the centuries. Slow, tranquil and intriguingly informative!

Syria is an ancient country of culture located between the Mediterranean and the desert. Its ancient desert metropolises, old villages, impenetrable fortresses and biblical harbour towns have witnessed the rich and fascinating history of bygone times.Damascus is the capital of Syria and symbol of culture in the Near East and located a hundred kilometres from the Mediterranean coast. The Kalaa Citadel is situated on the periphery of the old town that was once surrounded by huge walls and it was from there that Saladin fended off the attacks of the Crusaders. The Khan As´Ad Pasha is often referred to as being the most beautiful caravansary in the Near East. Its inner courtyard is covered by eight mighty and partly painted cupolas each of which is supported by four pillars. Set amid the desert savannah of Syria are the proud remains of a unique and mysterious metropolis, Palmyra, a legendary ancient city that was built due to the existence of the Tadmur Oasis. The shortest and fastest route from the Mediterranean to Mesopotamia and Persia travels directly past the Tadmur Oasis thus it was only a question of time until an important trading post was founded there. Around a quarter of a million Bedouins live in Syria’s desert areas. They are nomads who speak Arabic and belong to the Muslim faith and their income is derived from sheep, goats and camels which produce both milk and meat. They travel the desert accompanied by their animals. Further north on the edge of the fertile Al Ghab Ditch is the ancient metropolis of Apameia, one of the most beautiful cities in the Near East. Apart from Bosra and Palmyra this huge city of ruins is one of the most important Hellenist regions in Syria. Syria is the Pearl Of The East. With deserts, wadis and mountains, castles and crusader fortresses, Roman ruins, palaces and mosques. A legendary country between both past and future whose cultural treasures still survive today.

My name is Zahi Shaked
In 2000 I became a registered liscenced tourist guide.
My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land.
Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity.
In order to fulfill this "calling" in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)
Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, "glide" over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water and "see" the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be inplanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.

Entry from: Damascus, Syria
Entry Title: "Beautiful Damascas"
Entry:
"Jeannie here. Our time in Damascus has been too brief! We arrived on Friday - the holy day - so our fantastic guide arranged for us to visit a mosque that has an attached cultural center. We met with local and western Muslims to discuss their beliefs and their lives as Muslims. It was a fascinating experience. As we have traveled through Syria, I have become increasingly bothered by my role as a woman here. Because my hair is not covered, I am either treated as an object by men or scorned by women - or completely ignored. I know that I have reacted in a typically western way, but by this point I was looking for personal interaction with women to see how they feel about their lifestyle and their roles in society. To enter the mosque we had to part from the men in our group, wear hooded cloaks, and use separate entrances and rooms to hear the sermon. We then met as a mixed group, but the men were on one side and the women were on the other. The Muslim women did not speak often during our dialogue, so I was extremely interested to see what they would say during our segregated lunch. We all moved downstairs to have lunch, but the women passed through the dining hall and into a small corner room to wait. We could hear the men in the hall eating and talking, but we apparently were waiting for our separate table to be made ready? I asked why we were separated from the men for the meal, and the women replied that it was more comfortable for them in social settings to meet as women apart from the men, but also that Allah asks it. With more discussion, we realized that women and men do not really have the opportunity to socialize outside of their families. In fact, many young people have to rely on their relatives of the opposite gender to find suitable mates for them because they have so little access. The limited realm of women's daily lives include their husbands, children, and female relatives living nearby. They shop in the morning, and then stay in the home most of the day. It they wish to socialize, it must be in someone's home. At weddings, the women celebrate together, apart from the men's celebrations. We were told that women can work if they wish to, but that it is often an overwhelming prospect because of their considerable duties in the home. Rather than seeing the housework as difficult, the women told us that they were well taken care of by their hardworking husbands and that they felt they had considerable domestic power. Leaving the mosque, I felt a little less open-minded than when we arrived in Syria, but at the same time I realized I was as incapable of setting aside my own cultural beliefs about equality and women's roles as the women I met were. Back to Damascus... It really is a lovely city. We enjoyed the National Museum, visiting the handicraft souq (beautiful woodcarvings and inlay work), the main souqs and the mosque. Our guide took us to the Palace of Culture one night after hours (with a little bribe) to see and smell an elegant old courtyard planted in orange trees and snapdragons with beautiful woodworking and decorations. It was the kind of place you want to visit daily to restore a sense of tranquility. I had a small adventure with three other women on the tour when we decided to find a beauty salon. We had some trouble finding a place, and then we found that hairstylist Tony was liberal in his interpretation of one inch, but there were no tears. We feel we could have spent another day here easily - wandering the side streets and enjoying more tea, but Jordan awaits us."

A perfect conglomeration of the ancient and the modern, the Syrian capital city of Damascus ( http://www.damascus-hotels.travel ), is supposedly the world's oldest continuously inhabited city! In fact, it is this juxtaposition of the old and the new that makes Damascus so compelling.

Damascus Old City, Syria - Best Travel Destination
Damascus is the capital and the second largest city of Syria after Aleppo.

Elijah Got Back Up Through Releasing Responsibility To God.
1 Kings 19:9-18 (NASB77)
Then he came there to a cave, and lodged there; and behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and He said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 10And he said, “I have been very zealous for the LORD, the God of hosts; for the sons of Israel have forsaken Thy covenant, torn down Thine altars and killed Thy prophets with the sword. And I alone am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.” 11So He said, “Go forth, and stand on the mountain before the LORD.” And behold,

Elijah Flees to Horeb
19 Now Ahab told Jezebel everything Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. 2 So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, "May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them."
3 Elijah was afraid[a] and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there, 4 while he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. "I have had enough, Lord," he sai

Some Syriac Christians in the Middle East (particularly in Syria and Lebanon) still espouse an Aramean ethnic identity to this day and a minority still speak various Aramaic dialects or languages. In northeast Syria, northern Iraq, northwest Iran and south eastern Turkey, Akkadian influenced Eastern Aramaic-Northeastern Neo-Aramaic dialects are still spoken fluently by between 575,000 and 1,000,000 people, but most of the speakers of these dialects are ethnic Mesopotamian Assyrians, the indigenous people of Upper Mesopotamia, rather than Levantine Arameans. The Western Aramaic language of the Arameans in Maalula is in danger of extinction, although Aramean personal and family names are still found among the Syriac Christians throughout the Middle East. The Arameans never had a unified nation; they were divided into small independent kingdoms across parts of the Near East, particularly in what is now more Syria and Jordan. After the Bronze Age collapse, their political influence was confined to a number of states such as Aram Damascus and the partly Aramean Syro-Hittite states, which were entirely absorbed into the Neo-Assyrian Empire by the 9th century BC. By contrast, Imperial Aramaic came to be the lingua franca of the entire Near East and Asia Minor when introduced as the official language of the vast Neo-Assyrian Empire by Tiglath-pileser III in the mid-8th century BC. This empire stretched from Cyprus and the East Mediterranean in the west to Persia and Elam to India in the east, and from Armenia and the Caucasus in the north to Egypt and Arabia in the south. This version of Aramaic later developed in Mesopotamia into the literary languages such as Syriac and Mandaic. Scholars have used the term "Aramaization" for the process by which the Assyrian and Babylonian Akkadian-speaking peoples became eastern Aramaic-speaking during the later Iron Age and intermingled with the Arameans.

And I alone am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.” 11So He said, “Go forth, and stand on the mountain before the LORD.” And behold, the LORD was passing by! And a great and strong wind was rending the mountains and breaking in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. 12And after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a sound of a gentle blowing. 13And it came about when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. And behold, a voice came to him and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 14Then he said, “I have been very zealous for the LORD, the God of hosts; for the sons of Israel have forsaken Thy covenant, torn down Thine altars and killed Thy prophets with the sword. And I alone am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.”
15And the LORD said to him, “Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus, and when you have arrived, you shall anoint Hazael king over Aram; 16and Jehu the son of Nimshi you shall anoint king over Israel; and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah you shall anoint as prophet in your place. 17“And it shall come about, the one who escapes from the sword of Hazael, Jehu shall put to death, and the one who escapes from the sword of Jehu, Elisha shall put to death. 18“Yet I will leave 7,000 in Israel, all the knees that have not bowed to Baal and every mouth that has not kissed him.”

Elijah knew what his calling was, but yet he was depressed about it - Why?
Because... The ultimate purpose in life is not what we do, but who we are doing it for.
Elijah wanted to bring glory to himself.

A: Man's chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy Him forever.

To Glorify God means to Magnify Him like a telescope magnifies an object in space and brings it closer.
The reason God looks small is because I'm so far away.
Magnifying God doesn't make Him bigger than He is.
Magnifying God REVEALS how much bigger He is.
If I have a Big God then I have Small Problems. But, if I have a Small God then I have Big Problems.
When I magnify God I make Him bigger to the people around me.
When I magnify God I make Him bigger to myself.
But, When I magnify God I make myself smaller... and I don't like that.

1 Kings 19
New International Version (NIV)
"I have had enough, Lord," he said. "Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors." 5 Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep.
All at once an angel touched him and said, "Get up and eat." 6 He looked around, and there by his head was some bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again.
7 The angel of the Lord came back a second time and touched him and said, "Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you." 8 So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God. 9 There he went into a cave and spent the night.
The Lord Appears to Elijah
And the word of the Lord came to him: "What are you doing here, Elijah?"
10 He replied, "I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too."
11 The Lord said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by."
Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.
Then a voice said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"
14 He replied, "I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too."
15 The Lord said to him, "Go back the way you came, and go to the Desert of Damascus. When you get there, anoint Hazael king over Aram. 16 Also, anoint Jehu son of Nimshi king over Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from Abel Meholah to succeed you as prophet. 17 Jehu will put to death any who escape the sword of Hazael, and Elisha will put to death any who escape the sword of Jehu. 18 Yet I reserve seven thousand in Israel—all whose knees have not bowed down to Baal and whose mouths have not kissed him."
The Call of Elisha
19 So Elijah went from there and found Elisha son of Shaphat. He was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen, and he himself was driving the twelfth pair. Elijah went up to him and threw his cloak around him. 20 Elisha then left his oxen and ran after Elijah. "Let me kiss my father and mother goodbye," he said, "and then I will come with you."
"Go back," Elijah replied. "What have I done to you?"
21 So Elisha left him and went back. He took his yoke of oxen and slaughtered them. He burned the plowing equipment to cook the meat and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he set out to follow Elijah and became his servant.

Syria War - Heavy Fighting Action During Intense Clashes Near Damascus | Syrian Civil War 2014. Syrian rebels in heavy combat during intense clashes with Syrian Army in Darayya, Damascus, Syria. This video shows intense close house to house fighting. The fighters operating in this operation where mainly members of Ajnad al-Sham and the Shuhada al-Islam Brigade.
Shuhada al-Islam is the largest FSA-banner group that is involved in the battle for Darayya, with most of its fighters being from the local area. It is the only rebel group that is completely under the authority of a local civilian council and operates with its approval.
Ajnad al-Sham is a an alliance of some more radical groups. The groups involved are: the al-Habib al-Mustafa Brigades, the Amjad al-Islam Gathering, the Sahaba Brigades and Battalions, the Shabab al-Houda Battalions and the Der al-Asima Brigade. The organization expressed support for the Geneva II talks and has an estimated strenght of about 15,000 fighters.
Darayya is a suburb of Damascus and one of the oldest cities in Syria. The city had a population of 78,763 as of 2004, making it the 19th largest city per geographical entity in Syria but now most of the residents fled as soon as the battle started.
In the beginning of the uprising, Darayya was mostly known for its large, peaceful demonstrations against Assad regime but has seen heavy fighting during the progress of the Syrian Civil War. The city was an early hotspot for anti-regime protests and subsequent regime oppression. Due to the fighting the city has been cut off, its electricity cut and has witnessed a continuous shelling. After Rebel forces already took the city in 2012 the area was re-captured twice by the Syrian army and other pro-regime forces and know sees heavy clashes with most of the municipality controlled by the armed opposition forces.
Fighting, Firefights and Clashes are still ongoing but rebels claim to have the upper hand attempting to create a stronghold near Damascus center.

Aram Damascus is getting the better of Israel in their long, drawn out war. What if there was someone more powerful than Israel that could save the nation? Preferably someone aggressive with a huge army that is much more fond of attacking people than caring about the huge internal problem in his own country?
Meanwhile, king Menua of Urartu, safe behind his Mountains and fortresses from Assyrian expansion, decides to expand his own kingdom in other directions.

The first Circle is what jacob made with Laban from aram/damascus/Haran ie the land of Nachor abrahams Brother. When Jacob ran away from Laban back to the holy land, they met in the mountain of GIlead. That is today the golan heights. they both built this structure as a Border Marker between ARAM and ISRAel OR sYRIA AND israel It is also the marker that moses tells Joshua to set up stones on Mount gerizim and write the teaching on the stones. East of this Galgal or gilgal which means WHEEL. there is no other structure like it in Israel. Clearly this is the Gilgal that points to Gerizim which is Mount meron Today. Today we FInd jacobs pillar at bet el there called elijahs chair and also amud nachal is a pillar that i beleive rachel is burried there. It is a natural rock that jacob carved an image of rachel i beleive. I beleive the same is alon moreh and mount horeb mount sinai and garden of eden, original place of temple before jerusalem.

The Arameans, or Aramaeans, (Aramaic: ܐܪ̈ܡܝܐ, ארמיא ; ʼaramáyé) were a Northwest Semitic people who originated in what is now present-day western, southern and central Syria (Biblical Aram) during the Late Bronze Age and the Iron Age. Large groups migrated to Babylonia in southern Mesopotamia during the 11th and 10th centuries BC, where they established small semi-independent Aramaic kingdoms, in the Levant and in Mesopotamia conquered Aramean populations were forcibly deported throughout the Assyrian Empire, e.g. under the rule of king Tiglath-Pileser III.

ELIJAH Got Back Up - 1 Kings 19:9-18 - Get Back Up Series, Pastor David Rathel
Elijah Got Back Up Through Releasing Responsibility To God.
1 Kings 19:9-18 (NASB77)
Then he came there to a cave, and lodged there; and behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and He said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 10And he said, “I have been very zealous for the LORD, the God of hosts; for the sons of Israel have forsaken Thy covenant, torn down Thine altars and killed Thy prophets with the sword.
“Nothing Matters More Than Knowing God's Purpose For Your Life And Nothing Can Compensate For Not Knowing It.” - Rick Warren.
Elijah knew what his calling was, but yet he was depressed about it - Why?
Because... The ultimate purpose in life is not what we do, but who we are doing it for.
Elijah wanted to bring glory to himself.
Westminster Shorter Catechism:
Q: What is the chief end of man?
A: Man's chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy Him forever.
“Everyone who is called by My name, And whom I have created for My glory.” Isaiah 43:7
“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31
(Illus. Earth orbiting around sun. His Glory is For Our Good. )
(Example: "A Blow up Balloon" "Blow Fish")
Releasing Wrong Responsibility Reveals God's Glory.
I Can't Glorify God And Try To Do His Job.
(Example: "I don't convert people.... I love people and God converts people." )
I Try To Do God's Job When I Take Over The Responsibility Of Someone Who Is Falling Down On Their Job.
(Example: "The Overmanaged Husband")
When I Am doing Someone Else's Job Then I Am Living Their Life And Am Unable To Do My Job And Live My Life.
So, What IS Your Job?
"GOOD TO GREAT"
1. Economic
2. Passion.
3. What can you do better than anyone else.
THREE CIRCLES OF GOD'S GLORY:
1. Stewardship
2. Passion
3. Revelation.
Elijah 8 Miracles - Elisha 16 Miracles
2 Kings - Hazael king over Aram; and Jehu king over Israel
What Wrong Responsibility Do I Have?
In What Way Am I Attempting To Do God's Job or Someone Else's Job?
