11 Movies We Can’t Wait For in 2016►►https://youtu.be/v7QKvtEsodg?list=PLGiKo5lTqUGQ55Ms8fIT8dO--gwq4NLVl
More Celebrity News ►► http://bit.ly/SubClevverNews
Because people typically like to hear the bad news before the good news, let’s start with the snubs. In the Best Song category, Paul Walker’s tribute “See You Again” from Furious 7 didn’t earn a nomination, in the Best Supporting Actor category, Jacob Tremblay aka the brilliant 9 year old from Room, didn’t snag a nomination, Straight Outta Compton didn’t land a nom for Best Picture, but at least was nominated for Best Original Screenplay. The Director of Bridge of Spies, Steven “god amongst men” Spielberg wasn’t nominated, Star Wars didn’t land in the Best Picture category, no Michael Keaton or Liv Schreiber for Spotlight, and Quentin Tarantino didn’t get diddly squat for The Hateful Eight.
All of which is extremely unfortunate but on the bright side, there were many performances that DID receive the nominations they deserved.
The Revenant kicked butt, leading with 12 nominations including the man that everyone wants to see take that stage, Mr. Leonardo DiCaprio. I’m literally going to be sweating when his category is announced but he has to beat out fellow nominees, Bryan Cranston, Matt Damon, Michael Fassbender, and Eddie Redmayne. As for Actors in a Supporting Role, Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Mark Ruffalo, Mark Rylance, and Sylvester Stallone all received nominations. In the best leading actress category, Cate Blanchett, Brie Larson, Charlotte Rampling, Sur-sha Ronan, and Jennifer Lawrence all received nominations. I’d like to take a pause to point out the fact that Jennifer Lawrence has been nominated for an Oscar 4 times and she’s 25. The woman is slaying life. In the supporting actress category we have Jennifer Jason, Rooney Mara, Rachel McAdams, Alicia Vikander, and Kate Winslet and for Best Picture the nominees are The Big Short, Bridge of Spies, Brooklyn, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Martian, The Revenant, Room, and Spotlight. Now as I mentioned before, the best original song category is sparking a bit of an uproar for the “See You Again” snub, however “Earned It” from Fifty Shades, “Writing’s on the Wall” from Spectre, and “Till It Happens To You” which was co-written by Lady Gaga, are all in the running for the Oscar. And shout out to Lady Gaga who just won a Golden Globe and is now an Oscar nominee. Dreams come true people.
The Oscars will be hosted by Chris Rock this year on February 28th.

Wiz Khalifa headlined the second evening of Billboard's annual Winterfest at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah last night, but before taking the stage he sat down with the publication for a short interview. When asked about his Furious 7 soundtrack song "See You Again" getting snubbed in the Oscar nomination process, Khalifa said, "I don't really get into the political stuff. I know that there's a lot to do with who does get nominated and who doesn't."

A the world continues to voice its thoughts on the mostly white list of Oscar nominees, "Saturday Night Live" added its social commentary to the #OscarsSoWhite conversation in this week's episode hosted by fighter Ronda Rousey.
The sketch, titled "Screen Guild Awards," featured five nominees for best actor, all white men in movies about black people -- a direct crticism of Sylvester Stallone's Oscar nomination for "Creed" and the nomination for "Straight Outta Compton's" screenwriters, two white men and a white woman.
#OscarsSoWhite: Full coverage of the boycott and Hollywood's reaction
The white actors were played by Taran Killam, Pete Davidson, Beck Bennett, Bobby Moynihan and Jon Rudnitsky, while Keenan Thompson, Leslie Jones, Sasheer Zamata and Jay Pharoah played the black stars of each nominated film.

Oscar Isaac and Scarlett Johansson: Who’s most overdue for an Oscar nomination now?

Continuing to feed off of last week’s Academy Award nomination announcement (as well as yesterday’s piece on the snubs found within those nominations, in one or two cases), today I want to look at who happens to be most due a nod at this point. An Oscar nom is certainly no easy achievement, but you can usually look around at the actors and actresses who have never been nominated and find at least one missed opportunity on the part of the Academy. As such, today I’m again putting out a list of who deserves a nomination the most, updated since certain contenders like Jennifer Jason Leigh finally have their citation…
...............................................................
Here now are ten actors or actresses overdue for an Oscar nomination:
10. Zoe Kazan – Anyone who doesn’t consider Kazan to be overdue for a citation just isn’t paying attention. Look at The Exploding Girl or Ruby Sparks and you’ll see performances that were among the very best of their years. Kazan is as talented a writer as she is an actress though, so it seems only like a matter of time before Oscar finally takes notice of her.
9. Michael B. Jordan – Twice now Jordan has come close to getting voted in by the Academy. Fruitvale Station introduced him to them and this past year’s Creed almost won them over. Jordan is on a speeding train towards Oscar glory though, so I don’t think he has much to worry about. It’s just a shame it wasn’t this year, as I wrote about yesterday.
8. Kristen Stewart – Some might laugh at this notion, but Stewart has done some excellent work outside of the Twilight franchise. Simply pop in Adventureland, Clouds of Sils Maria, or On the Road and you’ll see what I mean. Stewart is a talented young actress, so while it should have happened for her already, it will at some point in the future…
7. Paul Dano – Another contender who was absolutely snubbed this year (again, he features in my article yesterday), Dano has come “this” close to nominations both for Love & Mercy as well as for There Will Be Blood. Factor in his work in Little Miss Sunshine and Ruby Sparks, and well…there’s just no excuse. He’s going to no doubt win an award one day, so the nomination is just the first step. His wait likely won’t be much longer.
6. Emily Blunt – Blunt is a favorite of the Golden Globes, but that hasn’t translated to Oscar yet. She had a chance for a bit with Sicario, but The Devil Wears Prada or Into the Woods was probably her best shot so far. Going forward, she seems like another sure thing, which is a common factor on this list today, and rightly so.
5. Robin Wright – If not for the outstanding work Wright is doing on television, she probably would already be an Academy Award nominee. For now, we just have her work on House of Cards to enjoy, but the snub for Forrest Gump definitely looms large in her past. If she gets back to film full time…watch out.
4. John Cusack – A veteran actor who just never seems to get noticed by Oscar, Cusack had a chance this time around for Love & Mercy as well (plus Chi-Raq), but he’s been snubbed many times before. Look at his work in Grace is Gone, High Fidelity, and more to see how he’s been someone just a few degrees off from where the voters are looking. It’s just a matter of him getting noticed by voters, so if he keeps working, the odds will continue to be there that it’ll one day happen.
3. Joseph Gordon-Levitt – I think that the time is nearing for Gordon-Levitt, who also seems to flirt with the Academy but never actually makes a date with them. The Walk was ignored with this most recent set of nominations, with other work like (500) Days of Summer, Lincoln, and Mysterious Skin not quite doing it for them either. As a talented filmmaker (look at Don Jon, seriously), he’s going to have ample opportunities in the years to come…
2. Oscar Isaac – Seriously, this is just a slam dunk for me. Isaac has been overdue basically from the moment he appears on screen, working his way up to baity roles in Inside Llewyn Davis, A Most Violent Year, and now Ex Machina. Precursors love him, but Oscar just can’t seem to jive with this actor of the same name. Within the next three years, I suspect he’ll be a nominee, if not a winner…mark my words.
1. Scarlett Johansson – One really hopes that the Academy finally stops snubbing Johansson soon. During her big run with the Globes, she was omitted from Oscar lineups time and time again. The snub for Lost in Translation especially stings, though recently she blew us all away in Under the Skin. If she keeps this up, one day they’ll have to finally pay attention to her, right?
Honorable Mentions: Jeff Daniels, Mia Farrow, Richard Gere, Donald Sutherland, and Channing Tatum

Oscars 2016: Nomination Contenders and Categories
Which 5 Ladies will be nominated in the best-actress category and which of these actresses will win the coveted Oscar for Best Actress at the 80th Academy Award...
Which 5 Ladies will be nominated in the best-actress category and which of these actresses will win the coveted Oscar for Best Actress at the 80th Academy Awards on February 24th 2008? Here's the latest hotlist of the 10 most serious contenders.
Marion Cotillard, La Vie en Rose
Relatively unknown outside of her native France, Marion Cotillard, stars as the legendary French singer Edith Piaf in the biographical La Vie en Rose. From the poverty and abandonment of childhood, Piaf becomes the toast of Paris and France. Marion Cotillard 'is' Edith Piaf, with an emotional and utterly convincing performance as the star in her tragic, alcohol, drug and pain strewn life. Unfortunately the film La Vie en Rose itself fails to reach the heights of Cotillards performance.
Cate Blanchett, Elizabeth:The Golden Age
Cate Blanchett reprise's her academy nominated role as Queen Elizabeth I in the 1998 film Elizabeth. Negative reviews for the film itself upon its recent US release do not deflect from Blanchett's excellent portrayal of the Monarch. Hotly tipped as deserving of the Oscar last time out, will her stunning performance as the Queen win the judges around this time? Set in 1585 a time of betrayal and bloodlust, this story explores the 'virgin' Queen Elizabeth's relationship with Sir Walter Raleigh.
Julie Christie, Away from Her
Julie Christie plays Alzheimer afflicted Fiona in Away From Her, and with a performance this good Christie would be advised to see her own doctor for a check-up. Fiona's initial forgetfulness graduates to a full-scale affliction, and throughout Christie is superb portraying the confusion and sadness, courage and defiance as a wife in her early 60's is consumed by Alzheimer's. It's almost 42 years since Julie Christie won the Oscar for best actress in 1966 for her role as the amoral model and socialite Diana Scott in Darling, has her time come again?
Keira Knightley, Atonement
Atonement, reunites Keira Knightley with director Joel Wright, with whom she received a previous Best Actress nomination for 2005's Pride & Prejudice. Keira stars as Cecilia Tallis in Atonement and her discipline and range of performance are a vast improvement on any of her previous roles. If Knightley can get nominated for the sub-standard performance in the aforementioned Pride & Prejudice then she must surely be a cert for at least a nomination here.
Halle Berry, Things We Lost in the Fire
Halle Berry plays Audrey Burke a wife in emotional turmoil, as she try's to cope with her husband's death. Things We Lost in the Fire revolves around Audrey's tense and highly strung relationship with Jerry Sunborne (Benico Del Toro) a recovering heroin addict who was her husbands friend. A typical 'Monsters Ball' style performance from Halle Berry, excellent in places and although perhaps outshone by Del Toro, again deserving of a nomination.
Laura Linney, The Savages
After two previous oscar nominations for You Can Count on Me in 2000, and Kinsey in 2004 will it be a case of third time lucky for Laura Linney in The Savages? As the intelligent, funny and single Wendy Savage an aspiring but unsuccessful playwright, Linney and her brother John (Phillip Seymour Hoffman) must confront each other and their dementia-afflicted father (Philip Bosco). Linney's character is complex and her performance special in this funny but sad, heart warming tale.
Ellen Page, Juno
Ellen Page stars as the smart, funny and extremely likable 16-year-old title character Juno. Diablo Cody's screenplay is at times comic genius, as Juno confronts her unexpected pregnancy with maturity, deciding to go ahead with the birth and give the child up for adoption. Pages performance is commanding throughout as she carries the movie from start to finish, will Juno earn Ellen Page a best actress nomination?
Jodie Foster, The Brave One
As radio host Erica Bain, Jodie Foster emerges from a coma to avenge her fiancés death. OK the plot is a little slow and far-fetched but Jodie Foster excels in a roller coaster emotional ride from shy and retiring innocent victim to ass-kicking vigilante. Jodie Foster carries The Brave One and as such is perhaps an outside chance of a nomination?
Angelina Jolie, A Mighty Heart
Amy Adams, Enchanted

Charlotte Rampling, a Best Actress Academy Awards nominee for her performance in drama 45 Years, has weighed in on the Oscars diversity boycott, saying the backlash over an all-white acting nominee list is "racist to whites." "One can never really know, but perhaps the black actors did not deserve to make the final list," Rampling said. Presented with the reality that many African-Americans feel like minorities in the film industry, Rampling offered a "no comment." Following this year's Oscar nomination announcements, which spawned the popular hashtag #OscarsSoWhite, controversy rippled throughout the industry. Both Spike Lee and Jada Pinkett Smith announced they would boycott the event, and Oscars president Cheryl Boone Isaacs admitted she's "heartbroken and frustrated by the lack of inclusion."

Charlotte Rampling is an Oscar Nominee for this year, and who benefits from the Oscars' constant tilt toward white performers. So you would think she would keep her mouth shut on the discussion of Oscars Diversity, but no. She had to go and open it.
Up for Best Actress, she showed class by saying that Oscars Diversity is racist to white people. Really. She said that.
And... "Perhaps the black actors did not deserve to make the final list".
Charlotte Rampling shows us that racism lives within the Oscars. I am glad she talked because her dumb comments are going to spark real change.

Will Smith will not be attending the Oscars this year, he confirmed Thursday in an interview.
"We're part of this community but at this current time, we're uncomfortable to stand there and say that this is OK," Smith said.
The 47-year-old actor is one of the many to address the Oscars' lack of diversity. Not a single actor of color was nominated for an Academy Award for the second year in a row, prompting the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite.
Smith, a two-time Oscar nominee in previous years, was snubbed by the Academy this year for his role in "Concussion," though he insists it's not the entire reason that he and his wife are taking a stand.
"There's probably a part of that in there but, for Jada, had I been nominated and no other people of color were, she would have made the video anyway," Smith told Roberts. "We'd still be here having this conversation. This is so deeply not about me."
As the actor explained earlier in the interview, diversity is what makes America so great. And when the Academy doesn't reflect that diversity, there's a problem.
"When I look at it, the nominations reflect the Academy. The Academy reflects the industry, reflects Hollywood. And then the industry reflects America, it reflects a series of challenges that we are having in our country at the moment," Smith said. "There's a regressive slide towards separatism, towards racial and religious disharmony. And that's not the Hollywood that I want to leave behind. That's not the industry, that's not the America I want to leave behind."

wn.com/Exclusive Will Smith Interview On Oscars Boycott, Wife Jada Pinkett Protest About Oscarssowhite

When Jada Pinkett Smith shared an impassioned video hinting at an Oscars boycott earlier this week on Facebook, both colleagues and fans alike gladly joined the call for action. As even just a cursory glance at this year's Academy Awards nominees proves, Hollywood's diversity problem would appear to be moving very much in the wrong direction. As prominent Hollywood figures like Spike Lee joined the apparent boycott in protest, some less-than-informed voices started to criticize their intentions.
Will Smith, speaking with ABC News on Thursday, has now spoken out about his wife's video and what exactly needs to be done in order to ensure that the Academy actually pays attention to (and seeks to alleviate) this problem. "My wife’s not going," Smith confirmed before revealing that he too would be skipping the party. "It would be awkward to show up with Charlize [Theron]." All jokes aside, Smith entirely agrees with Jada's stance and is happy to set an example for future generations. "There is a position that we hold in this community, and if we're not part of the solution, we're part of the problem," Smith said. "It was her call to action, for herself, and for me and for our family to be a part of the solution."
For Smith, a two-time Oscar nominee, Hollywood is "at its best" when it accurately represents its own audience. "I think that I have to protect and fight for the ideals that make our country and make our Hollywood community great," Smith added. "When I look at the series of nominations of the Academy, it's not reflecting that beauty." However, Smith is quick to point out the diversity crisis goes well beyond just the Oscars or even the Academy at large: "There is a regressive slide towards separatism, towards racial and religious disharmony and that’s not the Hollywood that I want to leave behind."

T.I. Reacts To "Straight Outta Compton" Oscar Nomination

T.I. is currently in between projects, but that doesn't mean he's not doing press. He's a busy guy after all, even if it's not a music-based project he's working on, he's got his side gigs like TV and movies.
The Hustle Gang boss spoke on some of his upcoming movie roles, but before that, he spoke on "Straight Outta Compton"'s Oscar nod-- while it may not be in the category they deserve, T.I. has only positive things to say about it.
"I mean I think that they deserved to be recognized amonst the most decorated films of the year, and I think they should be alongside and in competition with the best movies of the year, cause they were one of them," he says, possibly alluding to the fact that they were not nominated for Best Picture."
He continues, "I think commercial success doesn't have much to do with the Academy and who they consider, but I think just relevance, like impacting pop culture, and even just, you know the quality of the material and the way it was put together; and the significance that story had to an entire generation, kinda makes it a no-brainer to me."
Towards the end of the interview, Tip talks about narrating Travis Scott's debut album Rodeo, and he gives the Houston native some lofty praise. "I'm just honored to be a part of Travis' career, he's extremely talented, a visionary, I think he's changing the way people make music and listen to music. I think he's one of the most innovative, ground-breaking, debut artist the game has seen in quite some time, so I couldn't be more proud of him."
T.I. ends the interview by letting us know he's not with the Snapchat wave yet.

Oscar Nominations Announced for 2016 Academy Awards - Oscars 2016 Nominations Announcement
The Revenant is leading the race for the 2016 Oscars with 12 nominations, with Mad Max: Fury Road scoring 10.
Both films are nominated for best picture, along with The Big Short, Bridge of Spies, Brooklyn, The Martian, Room and Spotlight.
Eddie Redmayne, hoping to repeat his 2015 success, competes against Leonardo DiCaprio for the best actor award.
Charlotte Rampling is in the running for best actress, while Kate Winslet is up for best supporting actress.
Redmayne, nominated this year for his role as transgender pioneer Lili Elbe in The Danish Girl, won the 2015 Academy Award for his performance as Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything.
DiCaprio, the star of survival epic The Revenant, has been nominated four times but has yet to win an Academy Award.
The best actor category also sees nominations for Michael Fassbender for biopic Steve Jobs, Matt Damon for space saga The Martian and Bryan Cranston for Trumbo, in which he portrays real-life Hollywood screenwriter Dalton Trumbo.
Veteran British actress Rampling, who receives a nod for marital drama 45 Years, faces competition in the best actress category from Cate Blanchett for Carol, Brie Larson for Room, Jennifer Lawrence for Joy and Saoirse Ronan for Brooklyn.
Other British hopefuls include Christian Bale, nominated as best supporting actor for The Big Short; Mark Rylance, competing in the same category for Bridge of Spies; author Nick Hornby for best adapted screenplay for Colm Toibin's Brooklyn; and singer Sam Smith, nominated for Bond theme song Writing's On the Wall.
Smith has already won a Golden Globe for the Spectre track, alongside writing partner Jimmy Napes.
Films which also scooped a handful of nominations were The Martian with seven nods, while real-life journalism drama Spotlight, Steven Spielberg's Bridge of Spies and Cate Blanchett romance Carol have six each.
The Big Short, about the 2008 financial crisis, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens are in the running for five awards.
Room, based on the novel by Irish writer Emma Donoghue about a mother and son living in confinement, picked up four nominations, including best adapted screenplay for Donoghue. Its Irish director Lenny Abrahamson was also nominated.
The 88th Academy Awards, hosted by Chris Rock will be held at Hollywood's Dolby Theatre on 28 February.

In Oscar Podcast #34, recorded Sunday, January 17th I am joined by Gold Rush Gang members Kenneth Polischuk and Evan Kost to comb over what got snubbed (Carol!) and what overperformed (Room, The Revenant).
We run down our predictions in all of the top categories (who’s the frontrunner – Spotlight? The Revenant? The Big Short?) and talk about the exhaustive research into categories like Costume Design, a branch of only 20 people in the Academy. But research and analysis is the cornerstone of the AwardsWatch member doing Oscar predictions and it’s often what sets us apart from most punditry. We also make our predictions for the Producers Guild of America award, happening next Saturday.
We conclude by addressing the ongoing controversy and conversation of the omission of people of color in the acting nominees as well as gender and sexuality still being issues for a majority of voters.

The Academy finally announced their Oscar nominations for 2015, and they certainly created a lot of controversy. With plenty of surprise nominations (American Sniper?!), snubs (Selma), and surprises (Marion Cotillard!), there was plenty to like (and plenty more to dislike). On this edition of the Way Too Indiecast, editor-in-chief Dustin Jansick sits down with C.J. Prince to discuss the most interesting and surprising nominees. Topics include what might be the biggest snub of the year (hint: this snub was definitely the opposite of awesome), why people love nominating Meryl Streep for everything, a strange choice in Best Director, the success of The Grand Budapest Hotel and more.
