A serious health scare ignites John Thomas, an insurance salesman in his 50s, to take a closer look at his life. Motivated by a misguided obsession with getting 'Barack Obama' (qv) elected, John takes an overwhelming involvement in the Presidential campaign. While John becomes obsessed with the ideal of change that Obama represents for Americans, he has in turn neglected to create positive change in his own life, particularly with regard to his health and familial relationships. John hides his health problems from his strong, yet supportive wife, Molly, creating a strain on their marriage. John seeks the support of a Republican relative, MLK, who initially starkly resists supporting a Democratic candidate. John's son, Kalil, rebels against his father's avid support of Obama by supporting the Republican candidate as well. John neglects to support his daughter, Tamika, at a crucial moment in her life, as she has recently fallen in love and become engaged to be married. John faces additional discord with his other son, Jamel, an up-and-coming boxer, who gets mixed up with a shady manager, Slim, as he rises toward a professional boxing career. Joshua, John's recently-paroled brother, also struggles as he attempts to find work in a tough economy and to maintain his new marriage. When Molly discovers that John has been hiding his health scares from her, she urges him to take positive action to improve his bad habits. John works to get back on the right path with his health and family as Obama soars to success in the campaign.

She grows to love her blueberry-ness, gets chased by a psychic dog and even meets President Obama. April 25, 2015 - President Barack Obama delivered his seventh speech to the White House Correspondents’ Association Saturday night. After a short montage parodying his interviews with BuzzFeed and YouTube stars, the president launched into his annual stand-up set. “Welcome to the fourth quarter of my presidency,” Obama said, adding that he feels more “loose and relaxed than ever” with less than two years left in office. The president said he doesn’t have a “bucket list,” but does have something that rhymes with that. “Take executive action on immigration? Bucket.” “Being president is never easy,” Obama said. “I still have to fix a broken immigration system, issue veto threats, negotiate with Iran, all while finding time to pray five times a day.” On Dick Cheney’s assertion that Obama is the worst president of his lifetime, the president said that is “interesting, because I think Dick Cheney is the worst president of my lifetime.” And there was the inevitable Hillary Clinton joke: “For many Americans, this is still a time of deep uncertainty. For example, I have one friend, just a few weeks ago, she was making millions of dollars a year and she is now living out of a van in Iowa.” Obama welcomed the night’s host, Cecily Strong, who plays CNN’s Brooke Baldwin on Saturday Night Live. “Usually the only people impersonating journalists on CNN are journalists on CNN,” he said. The current and potential 2016 Republican presidential field did not emerge unscathed, with jokes about Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz, Rick Santorum, Donald Trump and more. Obama said he couldn’t wait to see who the Koch brothers pick. And don’t forget about Hillary Clinton’s potential competition from the left, Sen. Bernie Sanders. “Some folks want to see a pot smoking socialist in the White House,” he said. “We could get a third Obama term after all!” Finally, the president did the unthinkable, bringing out his anger translator Luther, AKA Keegan-Michael Key from Key & Peele, who took the “serious” part of Obama’s speech and let everyone know what he was really thinking. Cuisia Jr. and Philippine Air Force Military Commanding General Maj. Gen. Jeffrey F. Delgado. The US President is expected proceed to Malacañang to meet President Benigno S. Aquino III for bilateral talks to forge new agreements that will strengthen the country's partnership to the US being one of its closest allies in Asia. President Aquino will also host a State Dinner at the Palace in honor of President Obama, showcasing the country's top Filipino cuisine, traditional dances and performance arts. Early on, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has issued a notice-to-airmen (Notam) advising aircraft to expect delays with the closing of NAIA terminals from 12:30pm to 1:30pm on Monday and Tuesday in preparation for the President Obama's arrival and departure time. Following the Notam, the CAAP has also issued a no-fly zone in Malacañang complex all throughout the visit of the US President as part of the security protocol for a visiting head of state. President Barack Obama vowed that the United States will respond to the devastating cyberattack on Sony Pictures blamed on the North Korean government. Obama said the cyberattack "caused a lot of damage" to Sony but that he believed the company made a mistake in canceling the release of "The Interview," a comedy portraying the assassination of the North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un. "We will respond," Obama told an end-of-year news conference. "We'll respond proportionally, and we'll respond in a place and time and manner that we choose." Two hours before he spoke, the FBI announced that investigators had determined that North Korea was behind the hacking of Sony, calling it an unacceptable act of state-sponsored "intimidation." Obama said North Korea appeared to have acted alone. It was the first time the United States had directly accused another country of a cyberattack of such magnitude on American soil and sets up a possible new confrontation between longtime foes Washington and Pyongyang. The destructive nature of the attack, and threats from the hackers that led the Hollywood studio to pull the movie, set it apart from previous cyber intrusions, the FBI said. A North Korean U.N. diplomat said Pyongyang had nothing to do with the cyberattack. "DPRK (North Korea) is not part of this," the diplomat told Reuters on condition of anonymity. Obama said he wished that Sony had spoken to him before yanking the movie, suggesting it could set a bad precedent. "I think they made a mistake," he said. "I wish they'd spoken to me first." He added: "We cannot have a society in which some dictator someplace can start imposing censorship here in the United States." Despite that, Obama's options for responding to the computer attack by the impoverished state appeared limited. North Korea has been subject to U.S. sanctions for more than 50 years, but they have had little effect on its human rights policies or its development of nuclear weapons. It has become expert in hiding its often criminal money-raising activities, largely avoiding traditional banks. The FBI said technical analysis of malware used in the Sony attack found links to malware that "North Korean actors" had developed and found a "significant overlap" with "other malicious cyber activity" previously linked to Pyongyang. That’s not the measure of whether racism still exists or not. It’s not just a matter of overt discrimination. … Societies don’t overnight completely erase everything that happened 2-300 years prior.” Addressing last week’s attack at a historic black church in Charleston, South Carolina, Obama reiterated his point that “no other advanced nation on Earth … tolerates multiple shootings on a regular basis and considers it normal.” In Australia, Obama noted, there was a mass shooting in Tasmania that was “so shocking” that the country changed its gun laws. Polling Center “But I think part of the point that I wanted to make was, it’s not enough to just feel bad,” Obama added. “There are actions that could be taken to make events like this less likely, and one of those actions we could take would be to enhance some basic, common-sense gun safety laws, that by the way, the majority of gun owners support.” After the Newtown massacre, Obama said, “gun sales shot up, and ammunition shot up. And each time that these events occur, ironically, gun manufacturers make out like bandits. Partially because of this fear that the federal government and the black helicopters are all coming to get your guns.” “The question is,” Obama said, “is there a way of accommodating that legitimate set of traditions with some common-sense stuff that prevents a 21-year-old who is angry about something, or confused about something, or is racist, or is, you know, deranged from going into a gun store and suddenly is packing and can do enormous harm? And that is not something that we have ever fully come to terms with.” And Obama doesn’t foresee any progress for the time being, either. “And that is not something that we have ever fully come to terms with. And unfortunately, the grip of the NRA on Congress is extremely strong. I don’t foresee any legislative action being taken in this Congress and I don’t foresee any real action being taken until the American public feels a sufficient sense of urgency and they say to themselves, ‘This is not normal, this is something that we can change, and we’re going to change it.’ And if you don’t have that kind of public and voter pressure, then it’s not going to change from the inside,” Obama told Maron. The President's remarks both memorialized the victims and touched upon the current controversy surrounding the Confederate flag and what he said was a need for more gun control in the wake of the tragedy. "By taking down that flag we express God's grace," he said. Obama finished his remarks by breaking into song, leading the assembled in a rendition of "Amazing Grace." Friday's funeral service for Pinckney isn't the first time Obama delivered a high-profile eulogy, and with a year and a half remaining in office, it may not be the last. But when the President stood in historic downtown Charleston to remember the slain pastor and eight others shot down in their church last week, his speech moved beyond just grief for the victims -- Obama stepped directly into a national conversation about race in which he plays a central role. President Barack Obama ended his at times solemn, at times rousing eulogy for Rev. Clementa Pinckney, who was killed along with eight other African-American churchgoers last week, by leading the congregation in “Amazing Grace.” After repeating those words, “Amazing Grace,” several times, the president paused before launching into the song as the mourners joined him.

The funeral for Reverend Clementa Pinckney was held today (June 26). The pastor was one of nine victims of a shooting at the historically Black AME Emanuel church in Charleston, South Carolina. The suspect, a 21-year-old White man named Dylann Roof, was arrested and his bail was set at $1 million. President Barack Obama gave Pinckney's eulogy. At the end, he sang the hymn "Amazing Grace." QuestLove commends the President for his singing and says he could perform alongside Stevie Wonder, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. "POTUS just went to E flat," QuestLove's post reads, "like he was collabing w/Stevie & Jam/Lewis (for those unaware E flat is THE blackest blues note ever)." David Banner quizzed his social media followers by asking who wrote "Amazing Grace." The answer is John Newton, a former slave trader-turned-preacher. MC Hammer posted a video of the speech on his Twitter account with hand emojis expressing his approval. Independent rapper Sho Baraka also appreciated the eulogy. "Obama was preaching so hard," the former Reach Records signee says, "he had me looking for a church fan with a picture of MLK on one side and a funeral service on the other."
